Yes I can imagine that. I was at a conference a few days after this video came out and there was a woman wearing Halfeti. It's very distinctive and striking! ❤️
That's the one I like the least. I think it smells like a mans fragrance. Because of your comment though, I will try it out for a day, and see how the dry down is. I've only smelled it from the bottle.
Yes, I guess different people like different things, in fact, my friend at work has it and absolutely loves it! It's her signature! Which others do you enjoy?
Good morning! Thank you for giving us the background history of these perfumes, - so interesting. I do not own any perfumes from this house. I’m interesting in sniffing Elisabethan Rose and Luna.
Hi Christina! No problem, I found it interesting to learn about the house, I didn't really know much about them. I think Elisabethan Rose and Luna are the most likeable of the 5. Halfeti might not be to everyone's tastes. Have a great weekend 🥰
Penhaligons aren’t animal testers like Chanel so the small difference between Empressa and coco mademoiselle doesn’t bother. I really like coco m but haven’t bought it for many years so thanks for letting me find a suitable alternative
Oh that's interesting! I didn't realise that Penhaligon's are cruelty free. I know the Portraits line is a big seller in China so I assumed that they weren't. Perhaps they manufacture in China though to avoid having to test? As a scientist, I'm not really sure where the line for the definition lies, at some point ingredients like alcohol will have been tested on animals, so is the definition referring to the specific ingredients of the fragrance component of the perfume? I've been wanting to make a video on this but having read about it, I'm still confused 🙃 thanks for watching 🥰
The bottles in their portraits line are so pretty and I love to try them, maybe it's more "creative" than their famous ones (to make them crowd pleasing). That was a great review🧡🧡
Thanks! Yes I will try the portraits collection and see what I think. These didn't overly impress me. Halfeti is the only one I wouldn't say no to a bottle of 😂
I have only smelled two fragrances from Penhaligon's: Empressa and Elizabethan Rose. The one I liked the best from the two was Elizabethan Rose. I don't know about the other scents. Seems like Luna is really popular.
Yes Luna is very popular! I liked the opening a lot but it wasn't a love for me. Elizabethan rose would be fab for those into peppery roses. Thanks for watching ❤️
I have Cairo from Penhaligon‘s Trade Routes collection and it’s one of my favorite fragrances in my collection. It’s a beautiful floral amber, rose centric fragrance. It’s really long lasting with great projection and I just can’t get enough of it. It has Rose, Saffron, Vanilla, Cypriol Oil, Labdanum on a base of Sandalwood, Patchouli and Cedar. The other Penhaligons fragrance I have is Iris Prima, which is a fragrance that they made in tribute to The Royal ballet. As a ballet lover, I think they did a great job at interpreting the scents of ballet. It is an iris, leather, woody, resinous floral perfume (leather of ballet slippers and resinous Rosen used on slippers for traction, to avoid slipping) Iris Prima is very pretty, although I have to be in the mood for the leather so I don’t wear it that often. It has Bergamot and Pink Pepper, Iris Jasmine; Leather, Benzoin, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Vanilla and Amber.
I would love to try Cairo, that sounds like one that I would really enjoy. Iris prima does sound like they nailed it with the inspiration. I really need to try some more Penhaligons. I don't think I found the one for me here. Thanks for watching ❤️
Thanks Claire. Luna sounds super interesting. Halfetti too. ❤️ I have not tried any of these. Someday I will go to London and spend days and days sniffing niche perfumes ✨🌙☀️🤣
Yes! Whenever I see a shop with loads of fragrances in that I can't sniff elsewhere, I just can't stop myself from spraying way too many... 🤣 I just discovered Harvey Nichols in Leeds and I now go sniff stuff most Thursdays after work! Penhaligons do have some stand alone shops, so depending where you are, there might be one close by? Thanks for watching ❤️
I will forever love Luna! I think it’s best for summer time - tropical weather The Favourite is super meh when I first smelled it in store, but I’ve revisited it recently and wow! I definitely like it enough to wear it couple of times Halfeti not for our climate Empressa is a Mademoiselle dupe Elizabethan Rose is not compelling at all IMHO There’s a new Penhaligon’s perfume coming out! ❤
Good to read your thoughts on these too! I have to say that I felt underwhelmed in general by these. I do think Luna and Halfeti stand out as far as away the most interesting here. The Favourite for me was a lot of ambroxan, but the drydown was a little better. I will revisit it at a later date and see. Thanks for watching ❤️
Loved this video! When I first smelled Empressa I thought that it could be a Chanel … and now I know which one 😂. I actually prefer the quiet Luna to Halfeti (I own the Halfeti Leather version that actually has a hearty dose of plum that makes it warmer). Well, to me Sartorial will always be my number 1 and I’m afraid that later releases always felt a bit „meh“.
Thank Andreas. None of these made me jump for joy really. Yes! Empressa just felt a bit like a Chanel for sure. For me it was close with Luna, but there's something I don't enjoy about it. I've not tried Halfeti Leather or Sartorial, there's a shop in Leeds though so I will! I do wonder what the impact of being purchased by Puig has had on the brand, I guess cost cutting and alike is just what tends to happen when big companies come along and buy up smaller houses. Thanks for watching ❤️
I have Racquets and I adore it. I also have Ellenisia and I used to love it and now I don’t like it at all! This was a great review, I especially liked the history. I also have the 10 1.5ml sample set in the tin. I’m with you, I hate dabbers, give me a spray. I love Luna and Endymion Extrait best from that set. Greetings from Australia.
Hi, Claire! Old subscriber, new commenter here. I always loved the British politeness of most of the Penhaligon's. Used to enjoy and finished Lavandula and Peoneve. I still have and enjoy Malabah and Castile. The only one I hate is Lily of the Valley. All I get is a huge, not listed civet. Thank you for your videos and greetengs from Romania!🥰
Hello! Oh thank you for commenting, it's always nice to hear from someone I've not before! Wow, you sound like you've tried a lot of Penhaligon's and that you are a long time fan! I would love to try some of the older fragrances again, I've not smelt them for years. I have a shop near to me, so I will go try some more, I'll add these to my list. Thanks for your suggestions and greetings back from the UK 🥰
I really like Artemesia. Have you tried that one? It’s fresh and sweet. Great for Soring and Summer. I really enjoyed hearing about the history of this house and your thoughts on these fragrances 😍❤️
thank you for your great review. I love everything about Penhaligon's😍 Elisabethian Rose and the Favourite are my beloved🤩 - on my skin the Favourite smells like a dark-mysterious blend in which you can feel comfy and bold, Elisabethian rose to me is a masterpiece about what you couldn't imagine about a rose parfum and yet love it, both frequencies I would like to lasts more but... I can cope with that sprying them very often☺ I also like Lothair, the Blazing Mr.Sam and Hammam Bouquet. I'm very curious about Liquid Love... and I've ordered Halfeti last week🥰
Ooh, I saw the similarities between Liquid Love and Elisabethan Rose (I've reviewed the Potions line). Liquid Love is sweeter though, lighter, more sparkly and less green. Charlotte Tilbury Love Frequency is along similar lines to Liquid Love, but Liquid Love is nicer to me, the cashmeran in Love Frequency is really bothersome in the drydown. Halfeti is stunning! I was at a conference just after posting this video and a woman in the queue for lunch was wearing Halfeti, she smelt absolutely amazing 😍 the trail was intoxicating! Thanks for watching 🥰
Nice video, it was good to hear about these. I've only tried Luna and that was a bit screechy for me. I tried the Bewitching Jasmine and I wasn't a fan of this either. I guess I don't find the brand very exciting, and I do think the prices are a bit over the top. I'll still rave about Bath House for my fave UK brand. They just launched a new rose fragrance, again the nose is Ruth Mastenbroek 💕
I totally agree, from what I've smelt, bath house seem much the better brand. I am going to resell my sample set. I didn't love any of these enough to make me want to keep dabbers. 🥰
Thanks for this review claire, i was planning to purchase a decant of empressa, i changed my mind because i already have mademoiselle i dont want another fragrance that is similar to it plus penhaligons is also not cheap. Great review 🙂
Precisely my impressions on The Favourite. Really had higher hopes for it. Halfeti my first ever Penhaligons purchase as well. Both flankers are pretty good as well.
The Favourite was a huge disappointment 🤣 just a lot of ambroxan sadly and a bit nothingy, especially to begin. Halfeti is lovely and the shop in Leeds smells really strongly of it. I love walking past it! If I didn't have a rose for, I would seriously consider it and I'd love to smell it on anyone. Thanks for watching ❤️
Hello dear :) I bought 1 bottle of perfume from this fragrance House.. & it was Ostara & I was hooked... Really amazed about the fragrance house history & how Royals love them too. Just recently purchased the Luna love the bottle & the name :) looking forward to get Halfetti & My favourite to add in my collection.. Great review New friend here xoxo
Ostara! Ok, I will go try it! I have a Penhaligon's shop nearby. I really hope enjoy Luna, it was certainly the one that transitioned the most and felt the most interesting here! Thanks for watching ❤️
Hey Claire. I really love this video and hearing the history of the brand. I don’t own any of their fragrances yet but I’ve always wanted to try Changing Constance. Luna sounds really nice
I used to pop into Penhaligons every now and again in my 20s to sniff Violetta, which I always thought I'd wear when I was older.... was so gutted when it was discontinued! They gave me other things to try but I didn't like any of them. Maybe just not the brand for me!
I feel the same, I remember trying some back in the 2000s and really loving one, I don't remember which, but there new ones are not for me. Halfeti is nice but just not worth the price for me. Thanks for watching ❤️
Wow, finally i found perfume channel (as a person very, very new to this hobby), that is more critical and direct - If i research a smell, I am already interested in it, I want to hear about it's weak spots! I have bought similar Penhaligons set, and I ordered its fragrances in the same way. I really liked Halfeti not knowing it is actually a trendy smell, I thought i found something original. I will now check your other videos.
Thank you ❤️ I think I'm more critical when things are expensive. I was a little shocked with some of these as to the amount of ambroxan in them. I do really like Halfeti though and since making this video, I went to a conference and I noticed a woman wearing it. I unconsciously ended up following her around the buffet 😂 she did smell absolutely stunning! Anyway, I have another testing video out tomorrow, testing 10 very hyped fragrances from 10 different brands. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, it means a lot. 🥰
I’ve had 2 Penhaligans: Blasted Rose - too cedar heavy and masculine on me so gave away; and another one Ellenisia that was too floral forward so gave that away too. It’s too difficult selling perfumes in Australia.
Yes, from this sample set, the only one I could see myself wearing would be Halfeti, although that was incredibly strong. Luna was nice at points, but not all the way through. Purchases feel like bigger mistakes if you can't resell them. I will try more Penhaligon's fragrances but I'm not sure they are for me. Thanks for watching ❤️
I was just thinking Empressa sounded good and then you said it is similar to Coco Mademoiselle - I just bought CM a few days ago! Penhaligons sounds like a very interesting brand. Being a brit I love our british quirkiness! Luna sounds lovely; you had me at gin and tonic 🤣 Love the smell of juniper berries and drinking gin 😁 but I totally agree with you Claire that if I'm going to spend £100 on a fragrance I damn well want to smell it! Halfeti is a good one and long lasting. Have a lovely weekend 💖💖💖
Frances, happiness sparkles!!, gave me her bottle of Coco mademoiselle and I must say, I love it! When it runs out, I might get the intense 🙊 Penhaligon's really play on their British heritage for sure and it shines though all of their branding and presentation. Luna is stunning to begin with, I loved the opening, but yeah just so quiet on me. Halfeti was much louder and lasted a decent amount of time, so I'd be more inclined to buy that one out of the five, although I probably won't because of having Floris a rose for already. I do want to try some more Penhaligon's fragrances though! You also have a great weekend 🥰
Unfortunately I haven't tried any Penhaligon's fragrances, as they are too expensive for my badget. I think the bottles of the favourite and elizabethan rose look lovely but from what you've said the scent wouldn't be much to my liking for either of them. Have you tried heartless Helen from that perfume house? I think it's supposed to be a tuberose fragrance and I adore a strong white floral fragrance.
I've not tried heartless Helen! If it's tuberose though, I will 😉 I agree, from trying these few, I feel like Penhaligon's are way overpriced for the very varying quality.
I tried the Empressa recently. I didn't find it very similar to CM at all. Maybe similar background vibes. But something stuck out as off to me, it could have been the neroli because it gave me the same kind of vibe my neroli essential oil does when I'm not in the mood for it.
It's not as smooth at all as Coco mademoiselle, I agree, but the drydown definitely reminded me of it. Neroli can be tricky I think for a lot of people! It's a difficult note that can be bitter and sharp.
It's a very distinctive rose fragrance. I can see why someone would love it for sure. I've not tried artemisia but I will, next time I am in the Penhaligon's shop. 🥰
Happy you enjoyed it! 😊 I think the history is a big part of what attracts people to Penhaligon's fragrances. I hope you are enjoying Empressa though? Thanks for watching 🥰
Omg friend, the Halfeti one sounds so seductive. Penhaligon's fragrances are very interesting and the bottles very pretty !! I don't own any Penhaligon's fragrance yet, but Halfeti intrigues me♥️
They are a huge pain! I bought spray bottles to try these because I just don't think I smell it properly or can judge longevity if I haven't sprayed the fragrance. 🤷♀️
So disappointed to know you disliked The Favorite, that was the top one I wanted to sample from them. I also really want to get my nose on Artemisia. You make Luna sound intriguing, as well!
I know! It was so disappointing! I really though the Favourite would be my No1 from the notes, it was just a lot of ambroxan really. Just not that pleasant. Luna was really pretty in parts and definitely conjured a story and took me somewhere, it also transitioned nicely. People keep mentioning Artemisia, I am getting curious and will go sniff it!
I really do adore Halfeti to me it performs the best out of the Penhaligon’s I’ve tried so far, I’d like to smell that Floris one, it sounds nice too 👌🏽✔️
Halfeti is quite strong and lasts a long time, I think that's part of its appeal for sure. Most people spending that much on a fragrance would want others to be able to smell it. The Floris is a bit softer and quieter, but very smooth and perhaps a bit more friendly.
I can't say any of these 5 excited me into buying a bottle, Halfeti would have been close of not for a rose for, but I am interested to try a few more from them! 🥰
Hi Claire 🤗 so glad to hear hear about the brand and thoughts on these 5, I have never sampled any from the house, I think the price tag is what has kept me away lol, those minis are beautiful ✨
They are pricey for what they are. I wouldnt recommend the house in general from trying these 5, there was a lot of ambroxan in 2 of them and a moderate amount in another 2 which somewhat put me off. But yes the presentation is lovely.
I love The Favourite ……it has an herbal opening to me ….but settles down to something that reminds me of Chanel Chance eau Tendre I dont get the salty thing you got in it ….my absolute must have from the brand is Halfeti …
Halfeti is lovely! I went to a conference last week and someone was wearing it, it's very distinctive. I think the Favourite just has a lot of ambroxan for me, but the drydown was better than the opening. I know another reviewer said that they went back to the favourite months later and loved it. 😊
Been really wanting to try Luna… i probably have a sample somewhere in my black hole of samples.. 😂 Out of the handful that I sampled from Penhaligon’s, I really love Changing Constance ans Equinox Bloom ❤
Hi Paola, Luna was for sure the most interesting one here. I will check out changing Constance (so many people seem to love that one 😂) and equinox bloom. 🥰
I have two sample sets of Penhaligon fragrances. "Confectionary for the Nostrils -- Hearts and Humbugs" contains 10 2ml size spray vials and includes Empressa, The Favourite, Luna and Halfeti. It doesn't have Elisabethan Rose. The other set contains the Portraits series. With Empressa, there is a strong blast of citrus and then patchouli overtakes all of the other notes for me. (Admittedly, I am very sensitive to patchouli.) With The Favourite, I get a very heavy powdery scent, with the other floral notes struggling to get through. Something in there makes my eyes water. Luna reminded me very strongly of Empressa; they must have a similar structure of notes. Luna, however, is much "paler" than Empressa. I likekd Halfeti the most of the four. It is spicier and seems more complex than the other fragrances. If it weren't for the price, I might consider a bottle.
I agree, Luna and Empressa do echo each other and actually the favourite is just a lot of ambroxan for me, maybe that's what you are smelling and don't enjoy? Very noticeable ambroxan seemed to be an issue in most of these, apart from Halfeti. I think that is yet another reason that one was my favourite. I just didn't feel these were worth what is being charged for them. How did you find the portraits collection?
@@dr.claire.perfume Since there are 10 fragrances, I'll try to say a few words about each. The Tragedy of Lord George: very classic men's woody/boozy scent. But where's the Tragedy? The Revenge of Lady Blanche: Very sharp green floral of hyacinth, iris and narcissus .No sweetness whatsoever. Fits the cover story. (Like). The Coveted Duchess Rose: Uses musk and woods to give the rose a sensual vibe. Fits the story. (Nice). Much Ado About the Duke: Black pepper seems dominant over rose, woods, leather and gin notes. Could correspond to something being "off-balance" in the cover story. The Bewitching Yasmine: Light, slightly sweet oriental; perfect for story. (Very Nice). Changing Constance: slightly spicy caramel with some vanilla in the background (Meh). The Blazing Mr. Sam: Contrasting spices fit the cover story. (Pleasant enough). Terrible Teddy: Blend of incense, leather and ambroxan has an unsettling feeling that fits the story. Heartless Helen: Mostly tuberose; not getting mandarin orange or woody notes. (Not a success). The Inimitable Mr. William Penhaligon: Well structured scent; smells "professional." ( Don't ask me what I mean by that:)) Tribute to founder.(Very Good)
I love hearing your review on these fragrances 🌹 especially how you feel about Elisabethan Rose 🌹 I have to say I grew into Love with this one as I did with all of them Artemisia is one I do reach for more often because it’s more wearable for anytime of the year Sartorial is another one that both my husband and so. Have a bottle of and they are crazy in love ,my son gets compliments all the time and when he tells people what it is they have never heard of ? He loves that lol Lots of these I haven’t smelled yet ,halfetti sounds lovely and also Luna is one I want to smell You amaze me with your description of perfume ,I just can’t describe fragrances like you do so I am in awe Hugs ❤
I can see why you like Elisabethan Rose! It actually took me straight back to childhood. I would.love to smell Artemisia and you are the second person to mention Sartorial! I agree, so many people haven't heard of Penhaligon's. I had only heard of them because of my mum visiting the shop on Glasgow and bringing me back samples and then of course Abi and her videos! Luna certainly does have some beautiful elements to it. I think it's definitely the most interesting of the ones that I tried here, but not one that I would want to purchase. I will try a few more Penhaligon's and see if I can find one that I love. Thanks for watching Frances. ❤️
Ahhh Sartorial, when I met my now husband he was wearing Sartorial and it struck me how gorgeous he smelt, made me like him even more!! 😋. Your husband and son are onto a good thing there 😍🙌😁💕 xx
Hi Claire! I really enjoyed this video! Very interesting and informative for me since I'm quite far from accessing this fragrances and also cause I love british history 😁 Thank you so much 💙
Hi Carolina! Really happy you enjoyed this! I think Penhaligon's is a brand that has a lot of history behind it, but actually since it was sold to Puig, the newer fragrances don't seem to be as well regarded. Having tried Floris (another British brand) and Penhaligon's now, I'd definitely recommend Floris over Penhaligon's. Penhaligon's are for sure nailing the British quirky eccentric thing though with their branding and marketing and they do really seem to be harking back to other times with the names and ideas behind their fragrance and collections. Thanks for watching ❤️
I got a sampler set and boy was I not impressed lol. Byredo smells so much better. Penhaligon smells like a bunch of perfumes from the 90’s or Avon body lotions my grandma would wear
I think it probably depends on the fragrance that you try with Penhaligon's. Byredo are a very different vibe, it's like comparing Habitat chairs with Victorian furniture, it's just a matter of taste. I'm not a massive Penhaligon's fan at all, but I've tried a quite a few now. I think Penhaligons are a heritage brand with a long history, so they do have some scents that are from over a hundred years ago, so of course these are unlikely to smell modern, but from this set in this video, none are over 20 years old, but I'd still say they don't smell ultra modern because that is Penhaligon's style with their main line. Interestingly, the Favourite is absolutely jam packed full of ambroxan which is definitely a more modern phenomenon 😂 and a big reason I don't enjoy it, yet it still smells older. Halfeti is from around 10 years ago, and my clear favourite here, but so many brands have copied that because it's so striking. Did you try some of Penhaligon's newer fragrances, e.g. Solaris? I think that one would be much more likeable to someone who enjoys Byredo perhaps? But of course, we can't like every brand we come across and likely shouldn't for the sake of our bank accounts, I certainly don't enjoy Initio for example. I hope that helps 🙂
@@dr.claire.perfume I do that too. I bet they do dabbers to torture us, spray atomizers are hella cheap (small ones like in the 2 ml samples) and would make minis way more impressive
Dabber bottles ugh, but otherwise what a package! Dull mimosa☹I wonder if they were trying to make mimosa seem less unserious? For some reason? But yeah, sounds a bit sad. Luna has been on my test list for awhile, but I think this is the first time I’ve heard anyone refer to either Starburst or ice melting, which both make me want to try it more🤗(That really is such a good one, when the snows start to melt and get ice crystally and you can hear the water trickling underneath-I love that as a reference and think would sound amazing in a perfume!) Right now, I’ve got access to Equinox Bloom and Vaara, which are both nice but not sure if full bottle worthy. I do really like Penhaligon’s bottles, so I’m inclined to want to like these more than I might otherwise... but they’re both just kind of Likes. Equinox Bloom is definitely the more interesting of the two (sort of brown sugar tea party in a greenhouse) but it’s also gotten hard to find so arguably not even really worth trying to love lol
Yes I agree the bottles are gorgeous 🤩 and absolutely part of the appeal and also why I was intrigued to try these fragrances, but I have to say that overall I felt disappointed with the quality of these. They just didn't feel that special in the main. I know a lot of people love Luna and Halfeti though and those two are certainly the best of the bunch here. I will visit the Penhaligon's shop near where I live and try a few more and see how I go! Thanks for watching ❤️
To be honest, trying these 5 didn't inspire me to try more in store. I found them to be very ambroxan heavy in the main. I did try to buy the Potions range as a sample set to test out but sadly Penhaligon's website was down the whole of Christmas and new year, it took Penhaligon's a week of me telling them that for them to admit it though. Anyway in the end, I gave up 🤷♀️ I'm sure Puig will still be ok 🤣 Are there any brands that you have had a better experience with and would recommend? 🥰
😭 just bought one randomly hoping it'll be the one and it smells alcoholy like any other perfume. So disappointed. lol. I cant tell the difference with most. They all smell so strongly. I need a fresh light one. Do you know of any? 😃?
Sorry, I don't. I haven't tried many of theirs other than these. My friend used to wear Juniper Sling which made her smell like a gin and tonic, but I wouldn't say that was light. I think Penhaligons are quite ambroxan heavy with the ones that I tried. For their prices, so far I would not recommend them, but I'd like to try their Potions line 😊 thanks for watching 🥰
Hello Claire, An enjoyable view of your opinions of this sample set. Thanks for the house history and colour surrounding the house. I haven't tested any Penhaligons fragrances yet. I am curious about Luna since Jon loves it so much. The Babylon and Halfetti make me curious and a couple from their portrait line that are hyped might be worth a test too. Thanks for your video! Your thoughts are well considered and much appreciated. Have a good day! 💛~ Jenn
Hi Jenn! Yes I want to try some from their portraits collection too and for sure Jon loves Luna. It is very spring appropriate. I felt like a lot of these had just way too much ambroxan for me, to the point at which it irritated me. Halfeti was the best because of that, because even Luna felt salty half way through. Thanks for watching ❤️
Somehow the Characters collection comes across as not serious or cheaper than the other ones, I think the tongue-in-cheek style is not in line with this brand. Then the newer ones, apart from the Exotic Route line are a bit of a mish-mash, no style , random, so I am not too convinced. The older ones, at least the names and packaging were much more consistent. My absolute favourite, and I have tried only very few by Penhaligons is Cornubia. Somehow I got hold of it online from someone, just reading a review, so a blind buy but its one of my top ones at all. An old style classy beauty with a character. All things said, I do like the quirkiness that suits perhaps only British brands.
I have heard that the older fragrances are nicer and have more of a consistency to them. The newer ones seem to mostly have a lot of ambroxan, which is not always the nicest thing to smell and relatively overwhelming in the Favourite and empressa. Thanks for watching ❤️
Ooh my friend wore Juniper Sling, it's wow! I love that zingy juniper, I really love juniper in general! It needs to be used more in fragrance ☺️ thanks for watching 🥰
Halfeti is very strong. I was recently at a conference and I knew someone was wearing it from several metres away. I quite like Oud Rosewood, Noir de Noir and Musc Ravageur, but these are all unisex marketed (as most niche is) and reasonably pricey. The Armaf Noir de Noir clone is pretty close (club de nuit intense woman). Thanks for watching 🥰
Yes! My colleague wears the favourite sometimes and she brings it to work and sprays it in the office, it's still not my favourite 🤣 Cairo I've not tried but several people have recommended it to me so I will and I really want to try the new one, Solaris too! 👍
@@jeanetteernsberger4782 it's strong for sure and pretty much eternal! I was at a conference a few months after I filmed this and someone in the lunch queue was wearing it. It filled the entire room! Thanks for watching 🥰
Halfeti is sooo beautiful, long lasting and I bought this and got stopped asking me what I was wearing! Absolutely divine!!!!!!
For me The Favorite was love at first sniff. I have 13 different fragances of penhaligons and I must say that it is one of my favorite ones.
@@dr.claire.perfume I think there is a store in Cambridge which I will check out!
Aah yes, the staff will bother you but at least you can try them! 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume fun fun ❤️
I always see their ads on the gram but have never tried them myself. So cool you have all of these! The bottles are so beautiful!
Stunning aren't they?! I didn't love these in the main sadly, but I enjoyed trying them.
I will forever love Luna! I think it’s best for summer time - tropical weather
The Favourite is super meh when I first smelled it in store, but I’ve revisited it recently and wow! I definitely like it enough to wear it couple of times
Halfeti not for our climate
Empressa is a Mademoiselle dupe
Elizabethan Rose is not compelling at all IMHO
There’s a new Penhaligon’s perfume coming out!
Too strong pepper smell
Hello beautiful Claire❣️ I really appreciate you revisiting the history of Penhaligons ❤️ Out of all these, Luna sounded the most intriguing ❣️
Yes, Luna is certainly the most interesting fragrance here.
Thank you 😊 I will try Racquets, Endymion and Ellenisa when I'm next in store. Glad that you enjoyed the history. Greetings back from the UK 🥰
Loved hearing the history behind the brand. I had Babylon & Cairo 😍
Thanks for your suggestions, I will try those as I have a shop locally where I can sample them. Thanks for watching ❤️
I really like Artemesia. Have you tried that one? It’s fresh and sweet. Great for Soring and Summer. I really enjoyed hearing about the history of this house and your thoughts on these fragrances 😍❤️
Thanks Lala, not tried Artemisia but it's on my list! 🥰
thank you for your great review.
@@dr.claire.perfume yeah you may aswell get something back for them 🙌
I agree I got a sampler set and all the Penhaligon smell like overpriced nineties perfumes. There’s way better fragrances for like $90
Thanks for this review claire, i was planning to purchase a decant of empressa, i changed my mind because i already have mademoiselle i dont want another fragrance that is similar to it plus penhaligons is also not cheap.
Great review 🙂
Hi Rin! Yes they are very very similar to me! Definitely choose another to try if you want something different! Thanks for watching ❤️
Hello Dr Claire. Happy Saturday everyone. I don’t own any Penhaligons so interested in their history.
Yes! They are a long established brand and their marketing and branding definitely plays on that. Happy Saturday to you too. ❤️
Hello dear :)
I bought 1 bottle of perfume from this fragrance House.. & it was Ostara & I was hooked... Really amazed about the fragrance house history & how Royals love them too. Just recently purchased the Luna love the bottle & the name :) looking forward to get Halfetti & My favourite to add in my collection..
Great review
New friend here xoxo
Changing Constance is gorgeous, smells a lot like the Demi one
I've not tried Changing Constance either. It's also been on my list. It seems to be most people's favourite I think.
I really enjoyed to hear their background, I was curious about them and haven't tried anything from them yet
Yes! The packaging totally intrigued me and made me want to know about their history ☺️
I love you shirt Claire. Listening to the video now. 😄🌹
Thank you! 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume You're welcome
When it runs out, I might get the intense 🙊
Penhaligon's really play on their British heritage for sure and it shines though all of their branding and presentation.
Frances send me decants of Elisabethan Rose and Artemesia. Elisabethan Rose is very lovely and different from rose fragrances in my collection.
It's a very distinctive rose fragrance. I can see why someone would love it for sure. I've not tried artemisia but I will, next time I am in the Penhaligon's shop. 🥰
I have not tried any from this house. Thanks for this video. I’m curious for sure.
Hi Jax! I wouldn't say I loved any of these, but I will give the brand another go if I come across some more fragrances to try.
May the Great House of Le Parfum smile upon thee, my odorous madam
Thanks! Got my first bottle of Empressa last month and I thought the same about coco mademoiselle. Great to hear the history. X
I don't own any Penhaligon's fragrance yet, but Halfeti intrigues me♥️
Halfeti is lovely actually, I went to a conference yesterday and I smelt it on someone, wow! 🥰
That’s a great deal and the presentation is beautiful 🤩 I agree dabbers are a pain
Very nice subject and a brand I was unaware of until now :) thank you Claire for introducing me to this new range
I can't say any of these 5 excited me into buying a bottle, Halfeti would have been close of not for a rose for, but I am interested to try a few more from them! 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume Thank you so much for your honest review on these ones, really appreciated 🥰🥰
I really loved the history behind the brand! 😍
Thank you 🥰
Hi Claire 🤗 so glad to hear hear about the brand and thoughts on these 5, I have never sampled any from the house, I think the price tag is what has kept me away lol, those minis are beautiful ✨
They are pricey for what they are. I wouldnt recommend the house in general from trying these 5, there was a lot of ambroxan in 2 of them and a moderate amount in another 2 which somewhat put me off. But yes the presentation is lovely.
Awesome reviews Claire!!! You’re making me want to try Halfeti💕💕💕
Yes Joss, I think you'd enjoy it 😊
I love The Favourite ……it has an herbal opening to me ….but settles down to something that reminds me of Chanel Chance eau Tendre I dont get the salty thing you got in it ….my absolute must have from the brand is Halfeti …
Halfeti is lovely! I went to a conference last week and someone was wearing it, it's very distinctive. I think the Favourite just has a lot of ambroxan for me, but the drydown was better than the opening. I know another reviewer said that they went back to the favourite months later and loved it. 😊
@@dr.claire.perfume maybe you need the warmer weather xxx
Maybe! 🥰
Been really wanting to try Luna… i probably have a sample somewhere in my black hole of samples.. 😂
Out of the handful that I sampled from Penhaligon’s, I really love Changing Constance ans Equinox Bloom ❤
Hi Paola, Luna was for sure the most interesting one here. I will check out changing Constance (so many people seem to love that one 😂) and equinox bloom. 🥰
Hi beautiful Claire! I love the set. It’s so pretty 😍 Oh no, not dabbers 😅
I know! The dread! 😂
William Penhaligon: Well structured scent; smells "professional." ( Don't ask me what I mean by that:)) Tribute to founder.(Very Good)
Interesting! Good to hear not everyone loves the same ones from this range as all I hear about is changing Constance normally 😂
I love hearing your review on these fragrances 🌹 especially how you feel about Elisabethan Rose 🌹 I have to say I grew into Love with this one as I did with all of them
Artemisia is one I do reach for more often because it’s more wearable for anytime of the year
Sartorial is another one that both my husband and so. Have a bottle of and they are crazy in love ,my son gets compliments all the time and when he tells people what it is they have never heard of ? He loves that lol
Lots of these I haven’t smelled yet ,halfetti sounds lovely and also Luna is one I want to smell
You amaze me with your description of perfume ,I just can’t describe fragrances like you do so I am in awe
Hugs ❤
@@rlim1839 it’s definitely special and so glad it has wonderful memories for you also 💖
I do like Elizabethan Rose but won’t buy a full bottle since I like it best layered with other things.
Oh that's really interesting! Yes I think it would later really well actually 👌
Elizabethan Rose layers extremely well with Juliette has a Gun Mmm, believe it or not! Takes off the slightly sharp edge 😁😍 Xx
@@dr.claire.perfume 🤗💙
I think that from these the only one I would like to try is Halfeti🙈
Yes I agree with you, Halfeti is the only one I can see you loving. ☺️
I also prefer spray bottles over dabbers but their minis are so cute😻😻
I decanted them in the end... They were pretty but impractical 😂
@@dr.claire.perfume I do that too.
I bet they do dabbers to torture us, spray atomizers are hella cheap (small ones like in the 2 ml samples) and would make minis way more impressive
👍
Dabber bottles ugh, but otherwise what a package! Dull mimosa☹I wonder if they were trying to make mimosa seem less unserious? For some reason? But yeah, sounds a bit sad. Luna has been on my test list for awhile, but I think this is the first time I’ve heard anyone refer to either Starburst or ice melting, which both make me want to try it more🤗(That really is such a good one, when the snows start to melt and get ice crystally and you can hear the water trickling underneath-I love that as a reference and think would sound amazing in a perfume!)
Right now, I’ve got access to Equinox Bloom and Vaara, which are both nice but not sure if full bottle worthy.
I bought a Penhaligon discovery set - There was 8 or 10 and I didn’t like a single one enough to buy a full bottle. I was so disappointed.
Great review 🎉
Thanks Maude 🥰
Hello Claire,
An enjoyable view of your opinions of this sample set.
Thank you for the history lesson about the brand.
No worries, thanks for watching ❤️
Good morning Clare ❤
Hello Frances! Happy Saturday ❤️
I am so excited to hear what you think 🤔
I'd heard a lot about Elisabethan Rose, Luna and Halfeti so I was curious to try these! 🥰
Terrible Teddy is my favourite, followed by Jupiter sling
Ooh my friend wore Juniper Sling, it's wow! I love that zingy juniper, I really love juniper in general! It needs to be used more in fragrance ☺️ thanks for watching 🥰
