Also loved that big long drawn out cutback @ 20 sec. So far in front of the foam on a full face and it just pulls the speed through the cut back. So much nicer seeing beautiful arcs and long rail turns over wiggle, wiggle. pop surfing.
I have a Pavel big fish, 7-3, Geppie quads, moonlight glass. It works in knee high to double overhead. It's (hands down) my favorite board of all time. If Pavel is still shaping, I'd like to get another one or three.
Ripper stuff Simon, been searching high and low for videos of guys with similar ability, size and weight on a 6'10 to 7'2 twin fish. Looks like it performs exactly how I want , and even in the same kind of conditions and waves.
@@simongibson1223 Hi Simon, just wanted to get some first hand feed back on this board in the 6'10 size. I had a Sea Side and Beyond in 7'0 with Machado quads, sadly it didn't work for me. The front was very wide compared to the tail, anything steeper than a mush wave and the nose rail would bite and cartwheel you, also couldn't easily pull straight into a hollow from drop in as it would do the same. If you stepped back to compensate then the skinny tail would sink and stall out, very narrow sweet spot resulting in an unforgiving board. Don't want the same mistake with the Christenson, noticed on a couple of your turns the front rail engaging, do you need to nurse it much in steeper waves? Cheers.
@@TRYITON01 hey there, the rails in the front half of board are very nice, I haven't had any trouble with steeper waves. it's definitely still a fish though so you wouldn't surf as vertical as on a normal thruster. But, it is so much faster that you tend to make sections easily, thus more cutties, and they are very good for cutties. Also, it paddles so well that you get into waves that little bit earlier. Worth noting, a lot of the days in this clip were super windy/bumpy. It's almost the best all-round board I've ever ridden, so much so, I bought another the same as back-up! hope that helps. Cheers
@@simongibson1223 Cheers Simon, appreciate the feed back. Gotta be a good board if you have a backup. So now my only consideration is the 6'10 or the 7'0?
Yes, you're pretty much spot on. I generally prefer the phish, I like the flatter rocker and I just seem to surf better on it. I also think it's faster, but in proper, steep waves the nautilus is easier.
@@boltup5566 I've ridden my various phishs often in solid OH surf. Handles easily if you're used to it. If it gets too big for the phish it's probably too big for me! Haha
@@s8g171 it can, I've ridden it at Ulus for example, but if you're going to be riding proper hollow waves a lot you'd probably be better off with a Nautilus.

Could you describe diff's between the Long Phish and Nautilus? Is Nautilus better for hollower waves? Long Phish more mushy?

@@simongibson1223 does the long phish have a wave size limit? Could you ride it in slopey 2 to 3 ft oh? Seems like nautilus could handle 2x oh.

Nice video... what height/weight are you? Are you using traditional keel fins or more high aspect fins? Thanks 🙏
Cheers. About 178cm, 80kg. The fins are traditional wooden keels, glassed in.
