Timmy, you are a genius! Just sealed the nozzle with stretchable parafilm and the difference is insane. Actual, hard-hitting, fast and defined bass! And the smooth treble is just pure bliss. Unfortunately though, my unit seems to be defective as I constantly lose sound on the left earpiece. It's most probably the cable (god, I hate this cable). Contacted Sennheiser to see if I can replace my pair. Anyways, great review! You earned yourself a subscriber :)
How is Sennheiser still having this problem? Theres like 100s of reviews on Amazon and Reddit that talk about connector/cable issues on their IEMs,sometimes even out of the box. I dont understand how they make such quality over-ear headphones that are so durable, and with their IEMs they just let things break and dont fix it with their new releases even.
That's why i hate mmcx pin, probably your female mmcx kinda broken on left unit, you should bend the pin on the middle a little bit, without so much pressure on it. Mmcx pin connectors is outdated, Sennheiser should go 2 pin like every chifi iem on the market right now

Timmy, I had my pitchforks ready, I was so disappointed, it just wasn't what I was expecting at all. Then I saw the intro, and I swapped the spinfits I use on my IE600 and yeah, thats a big oops on Senny's part. Once I've listened for about 30 minutes now with the IE200 with the better tips my opinion has changed. Really great at its price range and comes really close to the 600. I found the 600 to be surprisingly a little less harsh somehow than then 200. Bass is really solid, lacking that slight extra punch inside the head the 600 gives but still better than most at its price point. At it is 120 to 150 bucks, with the comfort it brings, and only needing to grab some aftermarket tips, I think this is a big win for Sennheiser. -drp edit: forgot the cable, yes it feels cheap, like way cheaper than I was expecting; however, the jack feels very solid and it means I can keep that expensive and hard to replace IE600 3.5 cable at home
Lol, there are some hate comments and videos for this out there for sure. But it's all valid because it's a design issue. Can't blame anyone for having poor experience, Sennheiser really shouldn't have added the gimmick. One solid tuning is enough.
You mentioned replacing the cable for ie200 but after buying an after market mmcx cable online im getting a loose fit thats completely unusable.. searched online and found out sennheiser uses custom mmcx connectors that make them incompatible with third party cables. hope u refer to this when making future sennheiser iem videos
I am not sure either. My Katos gonna arrive tomorrow and then i will test them. Generally speaking people find the Kato to be better then the 300. We'll see.
@@dioo.1639 Hey, so i kept the Kato. I changed the stock eartips and now they fit perfectly fine for me. So the Senn are super lightweight but the plastic hangers were a little annoying. Now listening these with SpinFit CP100+ and they are excellent, well balanced to my ear anyway. Tried with original tips, they are just trash, no bass at all. No need the tape or hot glue to close the slot. The cable is thin yes, but it works. Have to compare to S12 and Aria, but the initial test is positive.
@@Rarsix222 OK, if I want to listen music, I'll choose S12, if I want to listen how IE200 possibly souds today, I'll choose IE200. Still, I'll keep it.
Hello, thanks for reviewing the IE200s. I just bought one and agree with flat profile of sound output. Can you share the link for the The SS eartips you got?
You don't need to tape the hole or buy the DUNU tips, if you own an IKKO OH10, use the black tips on the Sennheiser, it will sound like the IKKO OH10. Because the large bore tips will make the bass explode on a dynamic driver.
Bought a pair. Like them. Cable is okay for me. Using them with dunu S&s ear tips. A little disappointed in bass level but easy enough to eq it. Good alt option to my etymotic er3se. Taping did not work for me. Maybe need to try it a couple times but don’t think I want to bother.
Follow up: My first pair, the left ear piece started distorting after a few days. Exchanged for a replacement with Amazon. For the replacement unit, the cable connector on the left ear piece does not properly connect. Sounds cuts out if I jiggle the cable or move my head just right. I contacted Sennheiser to get a replacement. Three weeks later, no commitment from them to honor their warranty. Very disappointing. So, I can confirm, be prepared to replace the Fidelity+ cable right away. Sennheiser may not replace. So, you will have to buy the bettter version of the cable from them for $100. That makes a usable system $250, not $150
The IE300 also has 2 different tuning which I believe many do not know. Most people push the ear tips all the way in, and what they get is a very warm sound. The bass is warm, a bit bloated and less controlled. Pull the ear tips outward halfway, and u get a more controlled bass which is leaner, snappier and more hard hitting. The mid and treble has more details and crispness. Overall a more analytical sounding iem.
Great video. One key question keeps being asked: which cable would you recommend replacing the Senn one with? FWIW, I'm using Azla SednaEarfit XELASTEC, and there's no issue with loss of bass. Will do the tape mod anyway when I have time.
My ie200 just arrived yesterday together with the dunu s&s eartips.. I tried the dunu but the bass is too much for my taste & it also reduced the brightness & sparkle of the ie200.. My ears are used to the standard default tuning of sennheiser with the default tips.. even with the one that already installed in the ie200 is aleady sounding peerfect for my taste.. I did not even have to put tapes or change it to memory foam tips.. Just the tips that already there when I pulled the iem out of the box because my ear canal size is medium so it is perfect.. I also do a burn in for hours & now enjoying the sound with the mojo 2 & iphone using apple music hires lossless..
My IE 200s are coming in today. I tried the 300s at one point and hated how everything had a metallic zing to the timbre with how much treble boost it had. I have blessing2s but my right driver just went to half volume AGAIN after just two weeks with a replacement so I'm kinda over it. I just want neutral-ish sound with a decent bass shelf. Hope the microdetail abilities of this don't disappoint me too much. For wearing around school and when I don't want headphone hair I don't need to be wowed by detail all the time lol.
Got em. Thought the treble tuning was great but could tell I wasn't getting a good seal for bass to come in. Did the tape thing plus using the foam tips while the SS tips get here, these are great! Mostly neutral with a good bass shelf and enough detail to keep me satisfied for the money! Oh and they're ridiculously comfortable. Daily driver certified for sure.
I've had the volume half drop on half of the metal shell iem's I own. Usually due to moisture build up in the filter and letting them dry out or replacing the filter works for me on the 3 sets that do it. I am starting to move away from metal shells and I find resin printed shells besides being lighter, haven't presented the condensation and sound drop issue yet.
Great comparisons 🔥, and definitely agree with the poopy cable and fit. I have the vents blocked with wide-bore tips, but the bass still feels bland to me 🤷♂ The speed and low-end separation is pretty good, but just lacks the impact and slam versus some other sets. How did you feel about the midrange btw? It was too recessed for me.. But I gotta say the treble and dynamics are pretty sweet at this price - might just be the smoothest under $200.
Yeah, the bass leak is a real issue, I think it's only really fix completely if you tape mod. Even changing eartips I can see not being enough depends on the fit for each person. It's a shame they added a gimmick to an otherwise super solid mid tier IEM. The midrange was a bit behind, I wish it had more as well. But yes, treble is....*chef's kiss*
The ie600 sounds better all round than the ie200. More detail, depth, emotional engagement. And beats every other IEM I have (and is built to last). I'm using uncompressed lossless with a variety or sources (inc A&K se180baks lg v60). DACs include Chord Mojo 2 and Onix Alpha.
I have the IE100 Pro and the stock tips are problematic for me as well.. I finally ended up replace the stock tips with a pair of Moondrop Spring Tips came with my Moondrop Chu.. They fit my ears so well..
Thanks for the great review Timmy! That's why we watch your video review. Great insight and finding the fix to these IEM's. Weird that they did this... Maybe to justify charging less for almost the same IEM. Who knows. Keep up the awesome content!
Thanks man! :D Honestly I think they just wanted to offer options, which is not bad since you don't have to use the 2nd position if you don't want to. It's just the execution of the idea hurts the stock sound signature too unfortunately
Thank you very much. I was very disappointed after getting them yesterday. The bass was non existent and the fit was a pain to my ears. I even wrote to return the product to Sennheiser but they didn't agree. Today i just changed the eartips from my old sony earphones. They sound much better and comfortable. I will be getting a ifi go link. Hope that further improves the bass. This is my first iem. I have been using airpods pro prior to this.
I have been looking for a new IEM. I love my Etymotic ER3XR but the comfort is an issue after a while. This video pretty much sold me on getting these. Thank you for that. I just need someone to tell me the nozzle size, just to make sure I get the right tips. Thank you again
great solution, thanks for the advice I read that some people remove the foam that is in the original tips and bring it to the aftermarket one, has anyone tried? I ask because if I listen to Rammstein or Ghost, which have very pronounced "s", I find them sibilant, and maybe the foam can help! Thank you
Love your reviews and thank you 🤘 I dunno why, but I really want and dig these!!! What replacement cable (s) would you recommend? *can’t wait for the Galileo 🤘
Replacement cable on Sennheiser IEMs are very hard to find (if they even exist) and most of the time you'd have to heavily mod the connector to fit aftermarket cables. Mark from Super Reviews had to mod his IE600.
Hi Timmy, thanks for your review. And I can underline dont buy - I saw so many good reviews for the IE200 but in practice my ones failed in 3 points: the cable is not worth the price, I had "noises" while moving the left connector but the most bad thing was you never find comfort wearing position they allways fall out or my ears. (Thanks Amazon for taking them back) There ones are a clear no go !!! Due to your rewiew I switched to the TANGZU HEYDAY and yes this is it !!! Maybe I will put the S+S on, to check if they can perform even better with theses ones too. So Thanks again, Chris from Berlin
Do you think the Moondrop spring tips would be a good replacement for Dunu S&S tips? Are there any other specific recommendations on tips (like the other tips that were included in the box, I think it was foam tips)? Great vid btw!
I think the most surefire way is to tapemod, than you don't have to worry too much about tips. Just need tips that give you good fit and seal. Tape mod only takes like...30 seconds and its free too
Please forgive me… another question… Overall, once the mods are taken care of with the ie200… ie200 or S12 pro? Please help, I’m on the fence and a budget 🤷♂️🤔
Wow.....hmm that's a hard one. Two great options. Personally I like the sound of IE200 more But the built, cable, and accessories are far better on the S12 Pro... lol
An interesting review, Thank for the infos Timmy. I still considering to myself, IE300 or IE200? I mostly listen to Soundtrack and Orcrestra. I need the Intrument detail, violin, flute, piano....while the big drum need to rumble loud at time need. I feel the need of this, to feel the band overall big and powerful feeling. Oh and I listen to J-pop and Anime, sometimes. What do you think which one should I get?
@@Gizaudio thx for the fast replied, but I've feeling you will said this tbh, lol. But I agreed, just for the drum is not worth to sacrifice the rest instruments from the band.
will you do another IEMs for Gaming & Music video ? would be amazing to have this recap every lets say few months. ( i bought the s12 pro after watching your vid. :D)
I’ll be honest. I don’t fully get the audiophile explanations. So in your humble opinion, what the best sub $50 iem for some one that listens to metal or Down tuned heavily distorted guitar music in general?
Should pick this over kato in terms of natural + details and separation of instruments? I mainly use iem to to learn the song especially small guitar tones and notes details. also I will wait for your collab iem ! thank you
Hey Timmy! First of all, love your videos, and the style! Fun yet always full of info and the graphs is super helpful! Just curious: the stock tips have some foam inside to act as filter from ear wax and sweat gathering on the IEM nozzle. Won't using aftermarket tips without that filter affect the life time of the IE 200?
Yes, those are the ones. I haven't tried other eartips, but I think Spinfits might do okay. The best fix is to tape mod though, it's free and takes less than a minute to do.
I'm really wondering where to get good EQ settings for the Hexa to balance out some of the shortcomings. Aside from the things you mentioned I really love my pair. But of course it doesn't stand a chance against my 6XX on tubes.
The IEM and custom keyboard hobbies are indeed converging. We are now "tape modding" our IEMs.
Hope it sounds "thocky"

The ie600 sounds better all round than the ie200. More detail, depth, emotional engagement. And beats every other IEM I have (and is built to last).
I'm using uncompressed lossless with a variety or sources (inc A&K se180baks lg v60). DACs include Chord Mojo 2 and Onix Alpha.
I have the IE100 Pro and the stock tips are problematic for me as well.. I finally ended up replace the stock tips with a pair of Moondrop Spring Tips came with my Moondrop Chu.. They fit my ears so well..
Outro shocked me shitless
For those who own the IE800 how do these compare?
Awesome review! Thanks for providing a solution
Anytime! thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great review Timmy! That's why we watch your video review. Great insight and finding the fix to these IEM's. Weird that they did this... Maybe to justify charging less for almost the same IEM. Who knows. Keep up the awesome content!
Thanks man! :D
Honestly I think they just wanted to offer options, which is not bad since you don't have to use the 2nd position if you don't want to.
I have been using airpods pro prior to this.
hi I really liked your video! Do you think the Spinfits Eartips W1 ia a good to go with the Ie 200?
Is it better than the Kato?
I have been looking for a new IEM. I love my Etymotic ER3XR but the comfort is an issue after a while. This video pretty much sold me on getting these. Thank you for that. I just need someone to tell me the nozzle size, just to make sure I get the right tips. Thank you again
Hi @Gizudio, Great video!, which less than $250 IEM do you find the most similar tune to the HD800s?
Are your graphs with the tape mod? Thank you!
Hi, thank you for your review. Is ie200 better than ie100 pro in term of sound quality?
Can you recommend an aftermarket cable for IE200? I have several MMCX cable that I bought for 7hz Timeless but they won't fit on IE200.
How much different u find between ie200 and timeless sound?
I’m a senni fanboy and I would have gotten these based on form factor and branding alone. But chifi reigns supreme as we all know.
great solution, thanks for the advice
I read that some people remove the foam that is in the original tips and bring it to the aftermarket one, has anyone tried? I ask because if I listen to Rammstein or Ghost, which have very pronounced "s", I find them sibilant, and maybe the foam can help!
Thank you
what are your eartip suggestions for these?
what are the best after market tips for the ie 200 im using it right now and kinda hate the tips it comes with
Love your reviews and thank you 🤘
I dunno why, but I really want and dig these!!!
Tried out the IE200 over the weekend. It was just alright for me. Still preferred my Oxygen.
Really considering getting a pair for an alternative to my etymotic er3se. Thanks
Which size Dunu SS eartips you used?
Did you tried tangzu waner cable plus kz d fi number 4 turn on eq combine together? the sound is almost the same to the expensive iems haha
what if i use the foam tip sennheiser gave with the ie200, will it perform the same as the dunu ss tip or dunu is still gonna make the bass bigger?
Do you think the Moondrop spring tips would be a good replacement for Dunu S&S tips? Are there any other specific recommendations on tips (like the other tips that were included in the box, I think it was foam tips)?
Great vid btw!
I think the most surefire way is to tapemod, than you don't have to worry too much about tips. Just need tips that give you good fit and seal.
Tape mod only takes like...30 seconds and its free too
@@Gizaudio thx for the quick reply lol
I guess I was just a bit worried that sound/bass might be "rattle-y" after putting tape so close to the source.
@@Zelcore won't be rattle-y lol
Just got my IE200 today and put Moondrop spring tips right away. It fits the nozzle snuggly and no bass leak.
Is there a link to the Tips in the description?
*Audio* *Space:* *"Houston* *we* *have* *a* *problem"*
*Houston:* *"Do* *you* *have* *chewing* *gum?"*
*Audio* *Space:* *"Yes"*
*Houston:* *"Just* *stick* *it!"*
anyone got a link for 3rd party eartips for these ie200's?
i dont have a problem with the design to be honest, it works fine every time I want more or less bass, the difference is very clear.
Please forgive me… another question…
Overall, once the mods are taken care of with the ie200… ie200 or S12 pro? Please help, I’m on the fence and a budget 🤷♂️🤔
Wow.....hmm that's a hard one. Two great options.
Personally I like the sound of IE200 more
But the built, cable, and accessories are far better on the S12 Pro... lol
I just ordered them tips for my 300s. Have you tried them on the 300s?
How does ie 200 compare to moondrop kato?
Tripowin Olina or Tin HiFi T3 + both are neck to neck what do you recommend?
What's the outro song's name?
With aftermarket tips it isnt required to make that mod in to the nozzle? Please if someone know tell me
If your tips cover that hole snugly, tape isn't needed. (personal: Spinfit W1)
How is it compare to moondrop KATO?
Better than Kato for me
Technically a bit short of the Timeless??? Isn't that like huge for the price??
Any recommendations for a cable upgrade?
If I were to buy them, any recommendation for the headphone tips? Or doesnt it really matter which ones I will stick onto them
An interesting review, Thank for the infos Timmy.
IE200 is much much much better for all of those genres of music lol.
IE300 has more drum rumbles but lack everything else.
@@Gizaudio thx for the fast replied, but I've feeling you will said this tbh, lol. But I agreed, just for the drum is not worth to sacrifice the rest instruments from the band.
#electricaltape
I'm impressed this wasn't an instant shill, "buy buy now buy the IE200!!!"
these are definitely not a FH3.
imma leave a comment here cuz im kinda stoopid, but how much tape and what kinda tape should i use for the ie200?
hey Timmy, can Olina SE or Dunu Kima keep up with IE200? what are the differences?
will you do another IEMs for Gaming & Music video ? would be amazing to have this recap every lets say few months.
I mainly use iem to to learn the song especially small guitar tones and notes details.
also I will wait for your collab iem ! thank you
Timmy thank you for the review :) Can you say something about the isolation of the ie200?
I was wondering if you were ever planning to cover some other 64 audio IEM's such as U6T and Nio. Thanks!
What is the title of that ending music thoo hahaha
Not at all. Unless you don't clean your ears ever lol
@@Gizaudio 🤣🤣 Fair! And thanks for the answer!
My only planned iem right now is galileo
You the best!
If this costs like how the tri meteor was when it got released then it sure to be everyone's planned iem tbh
What are good cables for the ie200?
What song is played in the outro?
Hi Timmy, great mod for taping nozzle, can Equiing IE200 make it even closer to IE600
EQing the upper mids up a bit should bring it closer, I wouldn't touch the treble though as it's inaccurate to fix treble.
What are other eartips that you would recommend? And is the one in the video the Dunu stage and studio tips?
Yes, those are the ones. I haven't tried other eartips, but I think Spinfits might do okay. The best fix is to tape mod though, it's free and takes less than a minute to do.
Thx soo much!
I'm really wondering where to get good EQ settings for the Hexa to balance out some of the shortcomings. Aside from the things you mentioned I really love my pair. But of course it doesn't stand a chance against my 6XX on tubes.
Were you getting a good seal with the stock foam tips?
I don't like foam tips so I haven't tried.
Interesting video. Love it (:
thank you!
IE200 vs Olina HBB SE?
Different tuning, the Olina is true neutral, no coloration. The IE200 is v-shape ish. Olina SE is still great, especially for the price.
@@Gizaudio thx for reply 👍
