I have DxO PhotoLab 6 Elite. Since I got a discount for an upgrade it is a very reasonable price. Along with PMP I have all I need.

Yes DXO are quite generous with their upgrades. I got mine at 50% off.

A great video. The objective analysis and structured presentation always inspire me. Thank you.
When processing my photos with the new PureRaw 3, I noticed that it was not uncommon for the DeepPrime XD mode to be over-sharpened. This resulted in white halos that became disturbingly visible when enlarged. Perhaps an upcoming update will remedy this later.

That is why I set mine to soft, instead of standard in its sharpening options.

Yes I did realize XD did cause some halos in certain photos. What I do is I turn off lens sharpening or just revert to deepprime.

YOu know the XD stands for Xtra Detail? thus isn't an upgrade for deepprime, more a different option for images that need more

I thought DXO positions and markets this as an upgrade. But it isn't better in all situations because of artifacts.

With the cost of PMP & PR3 together - surely it would be better to buy the PL6 Elite instead? unless you already own PMP

    • @takebetterphotos8132
      @takebetterphotos8132  Год назад +2

Yes that's true. At a reasonable $40 dollars PL6 would be a better option. I was thinking though some people might already have pixelmator so the cost of just pureraw would be a big savings.

I agree that Pixelmator Pro works well with DXO PureRaw.
To make the Shadows adjustment in Pixelmator Pro work better, currently you also need to use Black Point slider. If you don't, black spots can show up, like at 3:26 and 3:36. We're fixing this problem, and soon you won't need to use Black Point.
About the highlights problem at 7:00, we know about it, and I hope we will fix it. Please use Pixelmator Photo on this Raw file, as it should work better with these lamps.

Hi Antoh, thanks for in-depth tips straight from pixelmator! I'll certainly check this all out!

DXO Photolab 6 is better than PureRaw3 with Pixelmator.
The only thing missing now with Photolab 6 is the AI Masking Tools that Lightroom offers. However, I found that Photolab 6 has better shadow and highlight adjustment targeting than Lightroom.
The perfect editing tool would be if future Photolab somehow get the AI masking of Lightroom, and the more refined targeting of shadows and highlights from Capture One.

Yes that would be an upgrade just to get photolab 6 if you are willing to pay a reasonable $40 more. AI masking would be wondeful but they haven't upgraded their quick mask in a while!

Pixelmator Pro, Affintity Photo and Pure Raw 3 is a very good combination outside the Adobe hegemony. That‘s why I quit Adobe without complaints.

Yes that's the reason I made the video. A lot of people didn't know (including myself) didn't know the kind of quality pureraw gives you.
