This is one of my favorite KISS songs to play. I absolutely love it and I hope you do too. The album version is great, but the Alive version sounds fantastic. I'm personally not a huge fan of the Alive drum solo, but one of my friends thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread (to each their own xD). So, I recorded this one as a backup to my summer of 69, just in case I had a video get blocked, but luckily I didn't have to use it. I wanted to make sure I didn't forget about the video, so today you're all getting a blast from the past :) I also struggled with this one a lot when I first learnt it 3 years ago. I had trouble with the outro, but also every time the 10 came up because my pinky was not as strong as it is now. Gene actually uses his ring finger most of the time when we see a 10 pop up (see the reference videos), but now I use both and switch it up a bit
I decided to use the triplet notation instead of just 8th notes since in bar 37,39, beat 3 is straight 8th nothes and not swung or shuffled, but also that there's consistent use of triplets as well. I don't want to make it look like the swing isn't there. Also, the end of the song feels like a triplet, but since we were in the triplet rhythm to begin with, it's straight 8th notes
Bar 68 sounds like it was overdubbed. you can hear two distinct bass parts in there. there's the very loud high slide, and then the low slide up to the next bar after holding the 8
Overall, you can pretty much hear everything and it's generally the same rhythm, just with variations, but it sure is fun.

0:15 - gene plays the triplet portion in bar 5 down an octave from where it normally is throughout the rest of the song. you can hear it on the track, and this confirms it. I've also found that the reunioin era vids are most faithful to studio versions out of all the kiss performances.
0:30 - gene uses his ring finger for the riff. I also find it's a bit easier than using my pinky. He also uses the ring finger for the 10th fret here
    Thanks for watching! Enjoy :)

Wicked ...wicked ....wicked baseline and fret work. Lord what happened to Gene's playing after the 70s? Something was definitely amiss. Nothing in the 80s or 90s...or ever compare.
