It's good that you are showing this to the international viewers the authencity and origin of the ancient Chinese skirt also called Mamianqun. DIOR designer was found to copy this traditional skirt and later tried to claim it as their Hallmark. DIOR is a Shameless cultural appropriation thief. They have done this many times.
Oh, so what? People have always borrowed from different cultures. It would have been nice if Dior had been more honest about the origins of its skirt design, but it isn't unusual for people in very different parts of the world to come up with the same inventions across many categories. Is anyone upset that the Scottish bagpipes didn't originate in Scotland, for example?

I don't own a sewing machine & the idea of creating a skirt like this by hand sewing seems pretty scary to me. But you definitely had shown me that it is entirely possible. All you need is patience and to trust the process. Thank you!
It can be done, I watched this video while hand-stitching myself a new dress, no pleats in my dress though, just lots of careful fitting to shape it.
I made my shifts by hand when I worked the Rennasance faire circuit. I was pretty glad I needed only four!

People who do not sew or those who can’t have to admire this beautiful work of art …. No paper pattern s , just a straight angle and a meter stick . The hours of carefully measurement , cutting , folding , pleating then hand sewing and setting pleats is truly a work of art ! “To think making quilts with designs is hard …. Then quilt them by hand might be the closest experience many of us will ever come to this is awe inspiring “ ! Thank you for sharing this experience with us ! What stunning craftmanship. I loved it from beginning to the end it was so serene. The music, watching him make it, putting it on and sharing what it would look like on so long ago. Honoring the past crafts and styles and sharing something the would otherwise be forgotten. It was good to see his animals, the surroundings and sharing a bit of of an ancient culture skills so the old ways are not forgotten. I will be subscribing to your channel.

When you do hand sewing, and you want to do the entire seam with only one thread ... Pull the thread as long as you need, then fold it so that one end is approximately 20-25 cm longer than the other.
Now, thread the FOLD through the needle.
This will give you the long thread you want to sew with; but you will have a shorter length to pull through each stitch, saving yourself a lot of muscle strain.

Ammirazione per questo artista artigiano,ho lavorato nel mondo tessile quindi riconoscono la bravura quando la vedo, il tessuto è bellissimo, io avrei giunto i pezzi con la macchina da cucire e pure gli orli e la cintura ormai il lavoro totalmente manuale non si trova più e il metodo di stiro pieghe è come quello delle nostre nonne il vecchio ferro da brace è ora un oggetto decorativo e da collezione complimenti per la dedizione 😊

I am not understanding why so many skirt panels were cut, only to be sewn back together in what appears to be the same alignment. It’s confusing.
Seams don't just attach things. They also create structure. For years I studied and experimented on the differences in the hang of garments made from narrow loom fabrics, the traditional 22" rather than modern 45-54" fabrics. Cutting all in one piece results in a floppy garment that doesn't hold a certain silhouette as well.
Your trousers, every single one, could be cut with one piece for each leg and no side seam. But they twist and flop.
