I don't understand the concept behind it - like if it was the first time meeting in person, nobody would say anything bad because imho, dream is conventionally attractive. I think a lot of people's reaction is similar to seeing a DJs face that you've been listening to on the radio, your version of the face matches the voice, so it's hard when the actual face either isn't what you made it, or the voice doesn't fit (in one's mind), but that isn't to say people aren't entitled to their opinions - and sometimes people prefer to believe in the person they've matched the voice to in their head, as opposed to the real thing. Don't think I'd ever face reveal on the Internet tbh - because it's just a brutal place where people don't care about the consequences, and their opinion is fact to them, when that shouldn't be the case.

Everything I’ve ever learned about Dream has been against my will. That being said, I don’t think he deserves the vitriol that Twitter is spewing at him because of his looks. What he does deserve is criticism for not stopping or speaking out against doxxing and cyber bullying his fans commit against people who dislike him.
Remember that this is the guy that not only cheated in professional speedrunning, insulted the mods of the speedrunning community, encouraged his fans to insult them and harass them, made a whole deal trying to prove that he wasn't cheating and then he admitted to be cheating. Remember that this is the guy that lashed out to a guy on Twitter that disagreed with him, responding to them in retweets so his toxic fanbase would harass the person. The victim had to block everyone and even his family and friends were getting harassed. Remember that this is the guy that calls his fanbase "kittens" and is borderline creepy with them, knowing that is mostly minors. This is the guy that sold his own baby pics in the internet. He is a clout chasing bitch, he thrives of being talked about on the internet, be it for good or bad, he'll make up a big drama out of it. I think a lot of people's reaction is similar to seeing a DJs face that you've been listening to on the radio, your version of the face matches the voice, so it's hard when the actual face either isn't what you made it, or the voice doesn't fit (in one's mind), but that isn't to say people aren't entitled to their opinions - and sometimes people prefer to believe in the person they've matched the voice to in their head, as opposed to the real thing.
Don't think I'd ever face reveal on the Internet tbh - because it's just a brutal place where people don't care about the consequences, and their opinion is fact to them, when that shouldn't be the case.

You nailed a point that I've been thinking about. If any well known faceless youtuber were to reveal what they look like they would get hate for something as insignificant as a mole, a wrinkle or minor discolouration of skin, hell even a decent-good jawline is apparently is on the chopping block. Wouldnt be surprised if we never get another reveal like this again. the only reason there is this much backlash is he went on a 2 week long campaign for just his face so it shows he has a massive sense of self importance, whereas if he just said "at 30m I will post my face" and then posted a youtube video he wouldn't have anywhere near this backlash but he decided to facetime every youtuber and have them say how beautiful he is etc, in my opinion he made this situation by setting the bar extremely high.
