I have a suggestion about the windows in the wagon. You should keep the white glass in windows, but the frame for the windows looks a bit unrealistic, same go for the brown line going on the window glass. In my opinion it will look better if you change the window frame for the one you had with clear windows. Just a little suggestion from the subscriber.
Oh my good flying welts, when it comes to the the windows, I think if you put the frosted windows on the base of the train, then the plane windows in the coupala, which was with some railroads used mainly for observation, it may do the trick
If I'm getting this kind of response with simple comments rather regularly, I really need to set aside some money and time and start a lego forward channel
Suggestion: I feel like the door behind the man should have the train windows to give a little bit of variety, and to kind of show that, that is a door.
very nice caboose on the loose... I really like the frosted windows and the black grill instead of the red & white. the Coupala is also used for observation of the train so the front might need the clear glass for looks. the other might be the door just for visibility. I like that you changed around the cars because the crook was really blocking the engineering view of the train from the caboose... really enjoyed the look of both trains as they travel around the track and how close they get to everything. It was great seeing the goth girl on the bridge from the hands-free cam. I forgot she was there. so many run things that pop out on your pass around. you might just for fun, making a video of basic drone footage from the city and have a can you find the list, by placing things in the scene that are new and not usual... have viewers do time stamp points they see the list of people... kind of a where's waldo... this is a weird thought I had but maybe you could build a burnt out cabbose and put it on the back of the cargo train sometimes to see if people are paying attention

Back in the old days brake vans were added to the back of long goods trains this was so if they were going up a steep Hill or something if the brakes on the engine failed or if the coupling was to snap the gaurd or conductor would use the brakes in this van to stop the train from rolling back
The caboose looks really great, but would it be better looking if you put just some buffers at the end-side of the caboose to make it look more realistic? Just without the magnet on
@@RobinHoodBricksthen I can understand you chose for the alternative. Are you planning on putting a extra pair of buffers on the cabose or are you going to leave it like this?
Thanks for the info on cabooses. I did not know what they were used for. Saw your food corner on ideas and gave it a vote. Good luck in getting that through.
Nice build. I think a Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Clip Light - Thick Ring as a door handle for the door in yellow would make it more of a detail for a door there.
When I was a little kid living near a train track (as most people did, because a lot of freight trains cut through our town), we kids used to chase out to wave to the guy in the caboose whenever the train went by. I thought that was the guy's job, to wave to people like someone on a parade float. So of course your caboose dude will wave to any little kids he sees
Very cool. If you end up feeling that it does not match because of the old fashioned look, you can turn it into a converted stationary diner. They are very popular where I live. Some of the owners even lay track to complete the effect.
Love the color scheme. Modified my Harry Potter train 75955:with the yellow stripe. You made the correct choice regarding the windows. You might want to add white studs between your brake lights and the black dish to make the red lenses be more pronounced. Lego did that in the latest passenger train side build signal, 60097.
awesome , i googled because i wasnt sure if my movie memory was right but doesnt the caboose go the opposite way around so the door and platform is facing backwards from the train and the horse riders in the movies can jump on the back of the train from their horses.
A lot of them are double ended. This seems to have people split but the brake lights must be pointing backwards and BrickTsar had it this way round. I checked!
Having been inside a few of these brake vans in Derbyshire they look very cosy a bit like a summer house combined with a shed. You need a hanging basket of flowers and a deck chair on ledge just to complete the look. (or not as the case may be) Oh by the way he's now face to face with the crook
Watch your Caboose! I was worried it would look odd but I think the way you've added the ledges, etc makes it work. And LEGO doors are rather large compared to the minifigures! Great little MOC

Wow, so nice, I love it! Glad you built one! Modern day trains still sometimes have cabooses, especially the ones carrying valuable loads or dangerous cargo that needs guards to protect the train
Looks Great Robin. I agree with your final amendments. The windows especially. The fish n chips sign I thought looked better in the back by the street. Also the mixer car is the bomb. Perhaps you should submit that to product ideas as well. I can't imagine a single train enthusiast not wanting that as part of their set.

You could always make a second "Beast" locomotive that is not powered, but have it right behind the powered version so it would look like a double header freight train. The reason I suggest this is because the freight train is getting a lot longer.
Excellent job Robin! The design of the caboose is really fantastic. I like how you incorporated some of the design of the official lego caboose and I had a good chuckle for your loose caboose pun. I would go with the ornate glass also. To me it gives the car more detail and it looks brighter as you stated. Using the large sticker looks also really good, like it was meant to be there. I was thinking also maybe replace one of the two grill pieces on the bottom middle of the car with a 1x2 black tile and use some of the other stickers, like electrics. I do like the other grill piece over the red and white striped printed tile. The added stripe stickers on the end are a cool detail you added as well. For the inside maybe add a crossaint on the table for the train employees bacon sandwich and if you had a black round 2x2 tile with a stud on top you could put that on top of the stove, then have the pan on that for added detail like a hot plate, unless that would be to tall for the minifigure. As for the car of the day, it looks way better with the different wheels than what came with the set. I'll have to get me some of those as I have this set as well, awesome amendment! For the fish and chips shop I like the sign in the front where you moved it, but the coast guard flag is a bit hidden as well in the back. So I thought maybe move the outside light to the left side of the door and put in another brick with a stud on the side for the coast guard sign 90 degrees from the fish and chips sign so both are visible, only thing it may look a bit crowded. All in all awesome train MOC once again, the caboose is really cool but I agree that the cement mixer is still the coolest! Great video Robin!
Yes, I love that mixer carriage. I was looking at it more than the Caboose. I think those suggestions are all good. I bought loads of those wheels and now I have a huge bag of useless balloon tyres!
Wow. I absolutely love your trains, your city station and your whole city. For the fish and chips shop: I think it's better to have the flag next to the beach and the sign next to the boardwalk.
Echoing several other comments, the caboose is pointed the wrong way. The observation platform should be on the rear. Trainmen used it for observing passing trains, inspecting the rail and ties behind them for damage, to make sure their train didn't start any fires along the route and to be the leading end when shoving (backing up). From a North American standpoint, your caboose is backward. Turning it around would also make your stovepipe more accurate, as right now all the smoke goes directly at the windows. Also, as others have said, all rolling stock would have couplers on both ends.
The direction thing is confusing as BrickTsar and LEGO had it this way. I checked. Also there are red lights on the back of the official set and mine. Many cabooses were double ended and had a platform on both ends but I have no knowledge on the subject. Maybe the cupola should be nearer the front end but, again, this was how it was in the other set!
Very nice overall. Ornate windows on the body, train style on the door. Makes it look a little different and more door-like. Roof seems a little tall and short.Maybe 6 long instead of 4? Don't see a way to make it shorter though, unless you snot the windows.
Good choice on the frosted windows. The train windows made it look very gloomy. The caboose looks great and realistic. I was planning on putting a train in my lego city I'm planning at the moment but I don't have alot of space and a train would take up space that could be used towards buildings
Hey Robin .....enjoyed your project this morning. So much so, that I copied it today. As I told you before, I have an old 9V train (set 4559) Which has alternative old steam engine build. I had a caboose loosely based on the original Lego one you started with, but that was 3 years ago and I didn’t have all the right pieces then. Anyway loved your version, so now I have one also. Thanks.
Such a cute little caboose. I really like the ornate window panels, but I think they should be within red frames to match all the panelling like on the real one you showed off. But then the windows on the sleeping quarters should be the little train windows. Would give more privacy to the guy and also would be more visible around the roofline. How would the train look if you put the cable/drum carriage between the two shipping containers as the train worker still can’t see. That way the the car and boulder carriages are low profile for him to look over. The coastguard flag should remain on the front as it’s more inline with the beech. I think the fish sign was fine on the pavement side. You’d see it when you’re walking up and down the sea front.
I think I agree with all that, but now train fans are saying the Caboose should face the other way to check behind the train and not the train itself. I'm confused!
That Caboose looks great, and I pretty much agreed thorough the video with all the aesthetical choices you made with it. I also especially agreed with the fact that having the log-disguised scoundrel right in front of the rail employee was a bit too hilarious and unlikely XD. As for the usual round of suggestions, I think it's better to have the fish&chips sign on the boardwalk side. While less visible for "us" it is a more logical place for minifugures to see it. Also, this way you keep the lifeguard flag towards the beach, making it more visible for all those there.
The last car on a train would have a red light at the back of the car, at least in the U.S. A caboose may have more than one than one or a small light “tower”.
I love the caboose If I was the employee I would love to take a break drink my coffee and look out the back of the train at the passing city not at the cargo. I think it should face the other way around. The your could put the other carriages back the way you had them 🤫 Big Thanks for lowering the camera so no angry eyes. 👍🏼 makes a big difference.
Awesome! Looks great one more thing cabooses had was about 5~10 years before cabooses retired trains started to have breaks in all of the cars and the caboose was for if a car decouples and the train breaks in half the air hose that goes through all the cars breaks in half this causes a drop in air pressure and inside the caboose there was a screen which displays the air pressure and if it is low they can contact the crew in the engine and tell them that the cars have uncoupled and the engine will throw the train into emergency now the railroads use these little things that are about 3/4 of 1M tall and 4~5 cm wide and they have a light and they go on the back of the train and they do the same thing air pressure drops it contacts the crew and they can stop the train it is also useful because it takes a lot of time to get a long train moving because when the front starts moving the back is still stationary so the train has to go slowly until the back starts moving or the train will rip in half so when the train is slowly crawling waiting for the back to start moving and when it does start moving the thing at the back of the train tells the crew so now the crew can start going faster. Also the thing i just described is called a E.O.T. Or end of train device. Here is a link to some pictures images.app.goo.gl/YbyiFGnonuaNu2tM9 So I guess you could have just used 3 parts and put it on the back of the train and call it a caboose lol
Another name for the EOT device, which has a big red blinking light on it, is the "Flashing Rear End Device" or FRED, and it is "paired up" in communication to the computer in the locomotive cab which got the affectionate nickname of "WILMA" for hopefully obvious reasons! Oscar's description above is pretty accurate but I'll add a couple words to it like "coupler slack" which is why when the front of the train starts to move, the back of the train might not, yet, like when in your car and the light turns green, the first car goes but the second car doesn't instantly .. the cars 'spread out' from the stopped positions, well trains do exactly the same thing due to slack in the actual 'grip' of the couplers and also slack in other moving parts of the train, and yes, as Oscar said, if they do it too quickly they can cause damage. FRED has GPS and can tell WILMA it's speed, and brakeline pressures, and a few other things, and can actually stop the train if it senses a reduction in speed that would suggest the train uncoupled somewhere, FRED can just send a signal to have WILMA put the train into emergency braking. Modern radio equipment like FRED, and walkie talkies is what truly did-in the caboose.
And now im sad :( all caught up on these, and now i need to wait for more, loved watching, seeing your ideas and planning process, will be waiting for more!
The brake van looks awesome and the frosty glas gives it more of a classic look (it feels older). However, i would suggest to add buffer at the back of the brake van but without the magnet coupler for more awesomeness
I think that the brake van looks amazing and I am glad that you took the idea to build one. However I agree that anything which has a moving part is immediately better than everything else’. :-)
When I was a child (way back when) it was great fun to wave like mad to the man in the caboose. If he waved back our day was truly made! A great disappointment when they stopped having cabooses on trains :( I am glad the beast now has a caboose for a little bit of nostalgia. Now the only thing that is missing is a boxcar with a ton of bad graffiti all over it! lol
Have you seen the new Monkie Kids sets? Set # 80013 has some neat shipping containers with graffiti and all that :) when you can get the parts at a good price, maybe a flat bed car with shipping containers? The whole set looks cool but expensive.
Really cool build, loving these new train builds, they’re really cool and detailed. Much prefer the more ornate windows than the old train style windows. Looking forward to Monday’s build/moc.
Yes, I agree on the windows. Monday's video has been forced on me by the release of the Haunted House by LEGO. My similar ride is also designed but must be first!
Apparently those viewing deck things you were referring to on the brake van I think that actually called observation decks and they are usually found on American rolling stock
Yes the crew could sit up there to watch the train ahead for hot wheel bearings. They'd see them smoke. There were two seats facing forward, one on each side. I sat in one last year at a railway museum. Was a fun 2 hrs, only thing was we were about 5 years too late for a train ride😥
A great addition! I love the frosted windows and the chimney. Suggestion: I think that adding a tool rack inside or outside the car would be a great detail.
I'm not sure what should go on the headlight bricks, I don't really like either of the options. At first, I thought the frosted windows were a bit strange, but now that I've seen the caboose fully built I think they are definitely a better choice. The only place where I think the train/plane ones are a better fit is on the "door," but I guess the other ones are fine too.
Robin, you should submit the mixing car and this caboose as another Ideas offering. They'd make a great pair as a set. I know I'd buy them, and I don't even have a cargo train yet.
So glad you reorganised the carriages, I thought your hidden criminal's game was up for a moment. If you make the train much longer it will be chasing its own tail!
@@RobinHoodBricks I had a little play and came up with this based on your cement mixer wagon chassis: ruclips.net/video/rZ7Eu1FXP70/видео.html I'll have a bash at streamlining it, I'm sure it can be made more compact!
Id put the bullion van and the log truck further in the train, like the middle because it makes more sense than the guard breathing thown the thiefs neck
Well I checked this before I filmed and BrickTsar had it this way. Also the red lights are on the back. Maybe you're right on the cupola but the original set was this way and they seem to vary a lot in pictures. Most are double ended!
The frosted windows make it look like the cooking has frosted up the glass. You could also use that effect for another type of scene. I would. I like the fish/water sport signs the way you had them first. I missed seeing the window. Also. Anybody know where I can get some Real Fake Doors? I'm real tired of real doors cluttering up my house where I open them and I actually go somewhere and I go into another room.
A,Frosted... B. I realize it’s the last car in your consist, but I think your caboose would still have to be able to hook up a car behind it. Just my Tuppence. Excellent build overall!
You should make brake van that looks like back in your home country of the UK like mine. Just google UK brake van. Cus you got an American design like here in the states. And also the ref photo you should. The C&O/ Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad use to come threw my city back in the 50s 60s and 70s.
I think the door behind the man should have train windows too and, does that man really not carew about his job that much? He's just going to let that man steal the money? I would have him reacting in some way. Cool caboose

Do you know the part numbers for the rim and tire by chance?
I don't. Search a train on BrickLink and look at the parts inventory list. 60051 for example!
Will do, I should of thought of that! Thank you my friend!
Nice build. Bigger train logo sticker looks better. Easier to see as it moves through the city
Yes, I was worried at first but it does look good, especially from a distance!
I think the train windows would have been better if they were red but as you have them the ornate is definitely better. All in all great build.
Thanks for the input!
Wow. I absolutely love your trains, your city station and your whole city. For the fish and chips shop: I think it's better to have the flag next to the beach and the sign next to the boardwalk.
Yes, Max, I agree!
34:53 that is such a nice scene it looks amazing
The station, the roof garden, both trains. Yay!
Very nice overall. Ornate windows on the body, train style on the door. Makes it look a little different and more door-like. Roof seems a little tall and short.Maybe 6 long instead of 4? Don't see a way to make it shorter though, unless you snot the windows.
Like all LEGO trains it's hard to get the proportions right on a six wide body and without going very long!
Good choice on the frosted windows. The train windows made it look very gloomy. The caboose looks great and realistic. I was planning on putting a train in my lego city I'm planning at the moment but I don't have alot of space and a train would take up space that could be used towards buildings
Trains take so much space. That's why I have simple loops that will never please the train fans!
Thanks.
Haha, excellent news. I love hearing about things I've inspired or helped with ideas!
Yes! Great train moc
Thanks, Delvin!
I’m watching this at 3am and I’m too tired to be dealing with the loose caboose😂 I laughed way too hard
I'm glad it worked. It tickled me!
You can’t please them all. 🤷🏼♂️
That caboose looks great Robinhoodbricks. Great decision on using the frosted window panes too
Yes, they did work. Do happy with them!
Yes, yes and yes. We are completely aligned!
i had a funny thought, you could add a minifig holding on to the rear rail for dear life with his legs dangling in the wind XD
Yes, as long as he doesn't fall off!
The last car on a train would have a red light at the back of the car, at least in the U.S. A caboose may have more than one than one or a small light “tower”.
So mine is right then with its red lights? Cool!
It feels like it's on backwards but I'm sure it's not. I should've done a two-ended one to avoid the controversy!
@@RobinHoodBricks its great to get everyone engaged !
Here is a link to some pictures images.app.goo.gl/YbyiFGnonuaNu2tM9
So I guess you could have just used 3 parts and put it on the back of the train and call it a caboose lol
Now you tell me, haha. I only built a Caboose because people asked for one!
Yep... can't loose when having a caboose!
Haha!
And now im sad :( all caught up on these, and now i need to wait for more, loved watching, seeing your ideas and planning process, will be waiting for more!
So you're down to three a week now then!
The brake van looks awesome and the frosty glas gives it more of a classic look (it feels older). However, i would suggest to add buffer at the back of the brake van but without the magnet coupler for more awesomeness
Weirdly I have an odd number of them. I'll add one to my wanted list!
I think that the brake van looks amazing and I am glad that you took the idea to build one. However I agree that anything which has a moving part is immediately better than everything else’. :-)
Yes, that's so right!
When I was a child (way back when) it was great fun to wave like mad to the man in the caboose. If he waved back our day was truly made! A great disappointment when they stopped having cabooses on trains :( I am glad the beast now has a caboose for a little bit of nostalgia. Now the only thing that is missing is a boxcar with a ton of bad graffiti all over it! lol
That sounds great.
I'll get some spray paint out!
@@RobinHoodBricks hahahaha :)
Have you seen the new Monkie Kids sets? Set # 80013 has some neat shipping containers with graffiti and all that :) when you can get the parts at a good price, maybe a flat bed car with shipping containers? The whole set looks cool but expensive.
And big. I love the sets but I'm gonna be focused on the side builds and cool individual parts I think!
Im awake this time. I like the nice windows. The other ones do make it a bit dark. And with u on the grille as well
Glad to hear it!
Looks very awesome Robin 👍😃
Thanks, Shannon. It's getting mixed feedback this one!
I just noticed some of the cranes in the harbour could easily load or unload something onto the cargo train
All in the master plan!
The caboose is great! I think you should use the frosted windows and the black grill piece.
Check and check. Yes!
Apparently those viewing deck things you were referring to on the brake van I think that actually called observation decks and they are usually found on American rolling stock
Yes, that's right. It's not a UK style at all!
Yes the crew could sit up there to watch the train ahead for hot wheel bearings. They'd see them smoke. There were two seats facing forward, one on each side. I sat in one last year at a railway museum. Was a fun 2 hrs, only thing was we were about 5 years too late for a train ride😥
Very nice work!
Thanks a lot!
A great addition! I love the frosted windows and the chimney. Suggestion: I think that adding a tool rack inside or outside the car would be a great detail.
Good idea. What tools would he need? I have no idea!
I think you're right with all that!
The frosted windows add a nice effect, you should use them,
Yes, I agree!
also older train cars had manual braking per carriage before pneumatic braking
Yeah, my train knowledge is really low!
Hey robin, if you could have two couplers on the caboose it would be more realistic🙂👍🏻😄
Yeah, I'm one short!
you should have like a tec nec 1 by 1 on one side of the caboos and put a big brake wheel or something
Yeah, I need to look at some images, I can't picture it!
More trains!!! Yayyyyyy I love trains
Yay!
Perfectly implemented
Thanks so much!
Robin, you should submit the mixing car and this caboose as another Ideas offering. They'd make a great pair as a set. I know I'd buy them, and I don't even have a cargo train yet.
I think the caboose is too close to the old set but the mixer car is a winner!
looks very nice!
Yes, I think so too!
do the small windows on the top because it is supposed to be darker up there.
Good plan!
So glad you reorganised the carriages, I thought your hidden criminal's game was up for a moment. If you make the train much longer it will be chasing its own tail!
Yes, it's a bit silly but I still want to add more. It's longer than a whole long side now!
Excellent! I wonder how easy it would be to get the chimney smoke to oscillate a few degrees via a Technic axle going through it.
Haha, the powered concrete mixer car was hard enough!
@@RobinHoodBricks I had a little play and came up with this based on your cement mixer wagon chassis: ruclips.net/video/rZ7Eu1FXP70/видео.html
I'll have a bash at streamlining it, I'm sure it can be made more compact!
@@Pernig It'll need to be a lot more compact to just turn the chimney smoke!
Id put the bullion van and the log truck further in the train, like the middle because it makes more sense than the guard breathing thown the thiefs neck
Yeah, not sure how far apart they are nowadays!
I think lanterns would be cool with the clear trans yellow 1x1 piece.
Inside or out? Thanks!
Out side. Cant remember but maybe they were red or green lens lanterns they use to use for signaling.
You built the caboose backwards in America the top of the caboose is to the front of the train and door on the end
Haha.
Yes, I bought more windows than I needed for this so have only a few for something else steamy!
A,Frosted... B. I realize it’s the last car in your consist, but I think your caboose would still have to be able to hook up a car behind it. Just my Tuppence. Excellent build overall!
I need another magnet. The pair is on my TrainCam wagon!
Yay another video.the techniques you use are exellent. And by the way
The train looks cute.
Thanks, I was impressed with it too!
Toad: so Mr Robin Hood Bricks does not know about me?
Oliver: yes, probably
6:28 Busy going backwards?!
I don't understand this comment, sorry!
It used to and still is in some places, a trains break unit
The raised part is called a cupola. Neat moc, you can’t have a LEGO train without a caboose!!!
Phew. I'm glad we made it. That was highly requested!
Nice last train👍🏻
Nice and bright!
Nice work
Thanks muchly!
I really like your new train! I think that you should put the grill on. The red and white pops on the red and black train way to much.
I also really like the regular windows
I agree with both!
Looks great! I actually have the original set, and didn't know how much it's worth today
Quite amazing isn't it!
You should make brake van that looks like back in your home country of the UK like mine. Just google UK brake van. Cus you got an American design like here in the states. And also the ref photo you should. The C&O/ Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad use to come threw my city back in the 50s 60s and 70s.
Lots of my subscribers wanted a Caboose so I made one. It looks quite good fun to me!
@@RobinHoodBricks okay man. I get ya.
Amazing and I’m having the same problem with my trains and I’m building the grey bridge that you built this week and I’ve started it
Great news!
I think the door behind the man should have train windows too and, does that man really not carew about his job that much? He's just going to let that man steal the money? I would have him reacting in some way. Cool caboose
He didn't see the criminal due to his awesome disguise!
It looks like an official lego build found in one of the lego trains sets
Yeah, I copied it and made an updated version. more of a Mod maybe!
@@RobinHoodBricks Oh ok. Still cool!
