Alicent declared war in the most subtle and boss way possible. This episode was one big holy shit moment.

@@Jacaerys1 I think we are lucky that you aren't.
Also after that entrance, WHICH WAS A VERY LOUD F YOU ALL I AM DONE, I'd happily die, if I were her, and you the king.
That was some power play AND what they did to her was more insulting. All the lies. From her father, husband and supposed once Best friend now step daughter.
She had been nice to Rhaenyra even after becoming the queen.
That wasn't even choice but a task given to her from her father.
She embraced it even though she FREAKING hates the sex, and tried to do everything right, but her father got kicked out for telling the truth and her best friend swore on her mother's memory that she hadn't done what she asked. :))))))))

@@adrianabalbuena2682 Have we been watching the same show???????
You haven't paid ANY attention whatsoever.
In the book, YES. I AGREE. that's what's written but as I said the book is very general. just scratches of history written with prejudice.
THAT IS WHY WE HAVE THE SHOW AND THAT IS WHY GEORGE R R MARTIN IS WRITING THE SHOW AS WELL. These are all canon and as we have seen, Alicent had a nervous disorder in the first episodes, ruining her nails and fingers, each time her father asked to go to the king.
SHE CLEARLY DID NOT WANT THAT.
unless you're the type who rapes someone because you thought they wanted it, you'd understand that SHE CLEARLY was uncomfortable. the man was her father's age.
that being said, she still tried to do her duty and task because of her father, AND she didn't manipulate him.
so far all of the advices she's given to him have been fair.
she has been the purest person on the show so far.
clearly George wanted us to understand her more, because in Fire and blood, she's the big villain. HERE THOUGH, clearly she's just a victim.

I mean....she's right 😂
@@oakenheart Not really. He admitted his fault and asked for death sentence. That's what men should do
Idiot because he admitted the guilt when really he didn't need to. We know he didn't know it, but really with all other worse shit, he should probably just pretend nothing happened and move on.
I seriously replied it many times. Love how gutteral she made it.
Now we have a Green Wedding. Though dull by Dothraki standards.
Well, we need three deaths. Joffrey died at the wedding, in keeping with Westerosi customs. Criston basically murdered his chance to make things right, does that count as one? And poor Laenor *definitely* died 😢
Hahaha! Brilliant !
To anyone confused Criston Cole has heavy guilt over having dishonored himself. He thought wedding Rhaenyra at any capacity would redeem himself. Coming from a lower house this is the highest any Cole had reached, and he has soiled it. He snaps because now that the secret is out it’s only a matter of time before he’s punished, taken off the goldcloaks, and bring dishoner to his family. Alicent brings him redemption. It’s not so much heartbreak with him, it’s about honor and his name.
Exactly. All the people in the crowd going "ZOMG dude just let laid with the queen all the time what a sweet deal" clearly don't understand love, family and honour

Ever since Ep3, I've learned to be *very* wary when Daemon doesn't speak.
Alicent is growing into her own. I see the factions of Greens and Blacks forming. And her first use of Green was a powerful statement. She feels betrayed by Viserys and Rhaenyra, even after being on their side, and not giving to the whims of her father to push Aegon’s claim. Now she is firmly house Hightower and the rifts and factions begin.
She betrayed viserys all these years letting her father put those thoughts into her head lol she so fake
She's also extremely hypocritical as she was annoyed Rhaenyra potentially had sex with Damon but she was running around with Viserys behind her best friend's back.
The comments above, seems like we didn't watch the same show. Rhaenyra was raised with love and care by Viserys, while Otto only raised Alicent as a pawn for his own hunger of power. I do not understand how people can blame her when she was only a child used by his own father that never considered her as a human being with own wants and needs. She is a victim and couldn't know any better with the way she was raised.
@@BiblicalllyAccurateAngel I don't read comments about HOTD anymore, people are so dumb and biased to the black side like they are the heroes, like WTF? what did you except? usually these reactions suck
The ending montage was probably my favorite scene of the series so far. Give me the aesthetics of the red hue of the weirdwood tree glowing in twilight, give me those flickering lights, give me the gloomy ambience of a GoT wedding with a equally gloomy soundtrack & it’s A1! The slightly overlooked heartfelt exchange Otto & Alicent had at the beginning was the most significant moment of the episode imo, other than Viserys. It's the Tywin Jaime "we can establish a dynasty that last a thousand years" moment. The wedding sets up the first chess pieces for Dance of Dragons. Rhaenyra and Laenor were being told their wedding vows, but it was Alicent and Criston who were getting married.
Alicents entry at the wedding was sooooooooooo good
Wow, imagine not wanting to be someone's side piece. How unreasonable Cole is.
Prince and princesses were thrown into political marriages and had mistresses on the side, that's normal in that day and age. Imagine thinking the princess and heir to the throne would abandon her life and duties to run away with a one night stand? Just so he could restore his own honour, Criston blew me this episode, completely entitled and pathetic.
@@breburke7286 But Criston has the oath, he is not a normal servant to be fucked.
@@breburke7286 Rhaenyra was many times saying how she hated all of this, her burden, her legacy, the duties and how she wants to just fly away, travel and eat cake. She said that to Cole too. It is not unreasonable from his pespective to think she might like his proposition.
@@Radonatorr it is though.
@@Radonatorr Agreed. She spent the first few episodes telling both Alicent and Cristan how much she wanted to leave it all behind and travel the world eating cake. And Cristan isn't in the position to be someone's side-piece either. He's a knight of the kingsguard and honour means more to them than anything else. Rhanaeyra was pretty entitled to assume that Cristan would be ok to essentially be her whore. At the same time, Cristan is the first to ascend to the position he is in from his family. So, he thinks he's soiled his entire family name. Asking her to leave with him, is, in his eyes, the only honourable thing to do. It's an escape for both of them. If not, he has to spend his whole life hiding this secret. I think he honestly wanted to get caught, because he felt so guilty about it. His actions aren't justified, but his unraveling makes sense. Can't believe people don't understand how complex his situation is. It's a little Shakespearean. Manly man with strict moral compass completely unravels because of one mistake that eats at his conscience.
The guy with the paper “look at me”.. well… no need to say, I definitely look at you, since the firsts eps to be honest 😅

So far this has been a great show the writing is just phenomenal, acting, scenography, score, customs. When people are debating about the characters is a great sign that the show is great. For some reason I think that Daemon hated his wife is because she is kind of verbally abusive which is not an excuse to kill her but is just an opinion. The rat at the end was just great symbolism.
A Westerosi wedding without at least one death is considered a dull affair.
My guy these split reactions are Fire

You missed the part where everyone was super pissed. Do you even watch the videos that you copy and paste these on?
Criston needs to get over himself, why would he expect the princess to abandon her life and duties to run away with him? Royalty is thrown into these political marriages all the time, luckily for her it will be an open one, either Criston take what he can get like all the other secret lovers or he keeps it pushing, instead he sulked, snitches to the Queen, and beat a man to death for no reason.
Wdym no reason? He had to get rid of her to get wife he wants to get.

Hotd fans : 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬?!?!?
The hypocrisy is funny to watch 😂
One is charismatic, other isn't, that's it.
Weak clingy men aren't a good look. Cold hard facts.
The thing about Criston that really annoyed me is his entitlement. If Rhaenyra was a man and ser cole a women, she would "know her place" the mistress wouldn't expect the Prince to abandon his duties and run away with her, she'd have no choice but to understand that as the Prince he will be thrown into some political marriage, it's unavoidable. But for some strange reason Criston thinks Rhaenrya is ruled by her emotions/feelings and would jump at the chance to ditch her life and run away with him? Why would he expect that of the princess? Because she complains about her duties? Who tf doesn't💀. Not to mention him wanting to run off and marry her was so he could restore his own honour, he was thinking about himself really. Then he beat Joffery to death, for what reason, he already confessed to the QUEEN, what does it matter if the lover of Rhaenryas husband knows what he did? I just didn't understand his actions this episode he seemed to only be worried about himself, ignorantly unaware of the choices and duties of those around him. Maybe the entitled, impulsive, emotionally unstable person is who he's always been and we're just now seeing it. Daemon has shown who he is from the very beginning and most of the viewers hate to love him regardless, Criston has shown his true colours this episodes and people aren't vibing with the pathetic entitlement.
@@breburke7286 Think about this way. It I not about sexism or him loving rhynaera it is about himself. He has utmost belief in the system. The same system that brought him- a minor foot solider up high to the kingsguard the first peasant to do so(it is like those who rose through capitalism they would argue for it till the end).He then soiled that sacred honor by sleeping with the princess(the people that lived in that period the series is based truly believe in the literal sacredness of the actions) the God will punish you on earth for your actions.Him asking rynaera to marry him is the best save the could have made for the situation he found himself in and the rejection of that by rynaera shattered him.In the end, he was then accosted and reminded of his actions by a literal boy which caused him to snap. To be honest I am not a fan of what the show did. In the novel he killed ser Joffery during a tourney celebrating laenor and rhynaera's marriage which was much better
@@adedayooyegunju828 If it was so sacred to him then why did he sleep with the princess? Don't say anything about power dynamic because the show has done a good job at letting us know that when alone Criston is free to speak his mind to Rhaenyra, it took about an hour to get his armour off, plenty of time for him to come to the conclusion that it wasn't worth it, they are shown to have an honest and sincere friendship, if he rejected her she would've most likely been embarrassed and avoided him for a few days, not act completely out of character and call for his head on a stake. There's no excuses for ser Cristons behaviour, he did something that he later regretted, then expected the princess to abandon her father, dragon, and crown to run away with him in an attempt for him to restore the honour that he willingly gave away.
It's surprising how people don't understand why Criston is so upset. Rhaenyra seduced him and because he's her servant, saying no could have ended badly for him, so he didn't really have a choice. Proposing to her was a last ditch effort to regain his honor and save his life. Her wanting him to be her paramour is literally putting his life at risk, of course he's angry.
Cristin's an adult man 'seduced' by a teenage girl? lol, he wasn't forced to break his oath he chose to because he thought his feelings for rhaenyra were reciprocated.
I don't think Rhaenrya is that type of girl who would be bitter about it so much so it would affect on him so sadly. She probably just wouldn't talk to him for a while and then come back to being thirsty about Daemon, lol.
He banged a girl once and proposed marriage. Dudes a simp
@Marcin Hasulak Why do people keep saying he couldn't refuse? throughout the season they've built up that friendship as a truthful one, he was her confidant at one point, it's shown time and time again that when it's just the two of them he can speak to her freely. So why are people pushing this idea that he couldn't refuse? Why would Criston or the audience think that this virgin girl who's been an honest friend to him would call for his head because he rejected her advances? You guys just making 💩up. Criston was hesitant because he didn't want to dishonour the oath he made as kingsguard but he did it anyway. Then after the fact expected the princess to abandon her family and duties to run away with him, to restore something that he gave away? It wasn't a mistake on his part because it only took about an hour to get all that armour off, plenty of time to change his mind. Criston isn't some innocent loveatruck, he's entitled and emotionally unstable. That scene on the boat when he was yelling at her I know the princess was thinking "oh no, I've made a big mistake sleeping with this one, he's off his rockers" 😂😂
@@sandrasim46 Flip the genders in your head and ask yourself how you feel about it. Regardless of hid feelings, Criston has no idea what would happen if he said no, and he did ask her to stop at first. Also, Rhaenyra wasn't a teenager at the time. It's been three years since the first episode so she would he 18.
17.07 "IDIOT" got me😂😂😂🤣
Disappointed with the attitude towards and lack of empathy for Ser Criston, if only from a character arc point of view. Especially since the actor playing him absolutely smashed it too
Because the idea that anyone has to be celibate to do their job is just so damn laughable idc what year it is.
Same I agree. They literally explain why he feels the way he feels and still people think he should accept a role a whore for Rhaenyra. Obviously his honour actually means something to him, something no one in todays age seems to understand. It doesn’t matter if they think he’s a pretty face in a show or want him to be a whore. He’s a knight and an oath actually means something to people that take it.
Man seriously thought that the princess and heir was gonna run away with him, he is either really really confused, or he has no brain cells.
@@CaptainPikeachu He's like Ned Stark in the sense that he's a classic fantasy character stuck in a dark fantasy world. He cares about his honor and he's a romantic. And we know what happened to Ned.
I agree. Even if vows of celibacy (which incidentally still exist today in some religious circles) do not appeal to jaded, modern sensibilities, why is it so difficult to grasp the value of keeping a promise, or being true to your word? And why is it so difficult to sympathise with those who fall short of this ideal and suffer pangs of conscience? Has no one ever faced a situation where they reneged on a promise (willingly or not) and regretted it?
Criston suffered a moment of weakness that haunts him, which is all the more agonising because, as he says, his honour and integrity are the only meaningful possessions to his name- he has no property, no highborn lineage, and no noble title. None of the trappings with which his world measures one’s value. Only the strength of his word. How does one live with the loss of the very thing that gives one meaning and purpose? One other layer to consider: was he really in a position to refuse the advances of the heir to the throne? Can one give full consent when there is such a power differential? It is likely that, deep down, part of Criston resents being maneuvered into a no-win situation by Rhaenyra, further complicating his feelings of shame. The very person he was sworn to protect also contributed to his dishonour.
And members of the audience just shrug their shoulders, regard each other with incredulity, and make disparaging comments, as if they cannot fathom how guilt can drive a person to give themselves up to judgement. Or understand why Criston may have begun to lose his will to live. It is indeed a breakdown in empathy.
Why do these people expect a knight and a princess to have a 21st century relationship? These people are viewing this series from the wrong perspective. a sworn knight who slept with a princess without having married and above all took away her virginity, understand that in the context of a medieval world that is the worst thing that can be done even if it is consensual in the eyes of the kingdom it will always be wrong.
You have it twisted. Rhaenyra's the one who forced herself on HIM, and even if he consented in the moment, the power dynamic means she raped him. And his proposal isn't just him being lovestruck: he deeply regrets doing it and is desperate to undo his dishonour. Not that Criston did anything right, but he shouldn't be everyone's scapegoat

Ser Criston is like that guy who mets you at a party and thinks it was his most special day in life lmao
0:51 the captain will always be scott kane 😎
I hope they don't cut the reactions when the dragons appear
Ser lonmouth no longer has a mouth unfortunately
We went with crispy crème 😂
Ser Cole really fucked it all up for everyone lmao
Ah Ser Criston, Pride Goeth before the fall. Who knew the next great battle would be fought not over the Iron Throne but hurt feelings instead.
Seeing everyones outfits this week in the bar makes me realize just how back the 80s are
Some of the commenters are really mad about your reaction to Criston's actions as though half of the fandom, namely Twitter, didn’t react the same way. No one’s forcing anyone to watch your reaction or comment on it but still, people are getting furious over fictional characters. 💀
Everyone groaning in unison when Christon blabs 😂
He is the Captain now 😌
Ah, no he is not.
Captain America been eating those burgers 🤣😂
Hell hath no fury like a scorned deflowered male.
hagrid back on hes spot
New Captain America hahaahah Handsome too
La mejor reacción sin dudas 🔥🔥
Espero conocer algún día ese mítico bar donde tuvo lugar la mejor reacción de Game of Throne, Hodor
Only I see Princess Rhaenys there in the crowd lol
This is the episode that which seals all their fates.
I must visit this bar!
I was completely on Alicent's side on this, I have no idea how people can hate her at this point. She's learning that everyone she loves has been manipulating her. I think she deserves to go a little crazy tbh
When Daemon is very quite.. be very afraid.
Criston cole: you are not alone. I understand you. The honor is more important that love and even the life.
loving the incel mobilization on this point. Good stuff guys!
Totally beat a dude to death at a feast 😂😂 wow such honor.
@@SeanTanktop how is this inceldom, you guys just call any guy that refuses to be manipulated and use by your 'yas queens' incels lol
@@SeanTanktop Dude, it's literally medieval honor oath stuff. You can't break every oath you take like Jaime Lannister and be the good guy. Criston is honorable. Stupid only by the 21th century standards.
@@SeanTanktop Not nearly as cool as the incest mobilization for the Daemon-Rhaenyra fans, right bro?
Those two dudes always have their arms folded every episode lol
This episode made me biggest cole fan
The guy at 0:50 is Adam Savage from MythBusters
was curious and about to ask where Captain America is, and then, hahaaa
I guess many don't understand the value of the oath that he took and what it meant for him.
Criston Cole didn't want to be with Rheanyra that night..but he got wrapped up in the power dynamics and also believed that there could still be something honorable with this..with the prospect of finding love and subsequent marrige with her, he could maybe justify his lapse. He was already in major guilt.
But, after being reduced to only being a side piece for the queen's fun and seeing the value of his oath-breaking being reduced down into the ground..he was filled with so much guilt, remorse and anger.
That is why his identification as a whore by Joffrey instead of being given the respect of an honorable Kingsguard during their first interaction really pushed him over the edge
Brilliant writing and it's good to see characters who hold their virtues, values and morals larger than life itself. Very rare these days.
These people don’t understand a man of integrity that has self respect though these days it ain’t surprising
Lolololol
when we will see the second part?? so exciting
BTW that thing at 8:00 the Martells actually have been doing that for years.
0:49 I just happened to pause to get get my drink... & I looked at you bro... you are noticed🤣
Ser Cristen reminds me so much of Dario (the 2nd one). Almost identical voice
Otto (Rhys Ifans) blew everyone off the stage with his leaving scene _ and the audience sat like planks through it.
I guess i respect honorable people more, i'm with you Ser Criston.
Lol
The fuck? 🤣
Well he broke his vow so he's not that honorable
@@iside2373 and he try to do the right things after this .
More honorable that the wife killer Deamon
@@vince7520 that's true but I still don't find him that honorable. Well Daemon and honorable don't even go together in a sentence 🤣
DaddyLongLegs in the corner needs more screentime 😏
Also: I’m enjoying the “24”-style editing.
Beep bum bum Beep bum bum
Sir criston has no honor because he broke is oath as a kingsguard so telling alicent about that relationship is just guilt and revenge against rhaenyra because is heartbroken
I don’t think he was even thinking about Rhaenyra in that moment. It’s similar to how she wasn’t considerate of him when she was trying to have sex with him. Maybe they’re just selfish people.
I don’t agree. He was thinking about himself in that moment; not getting revenge on Rhaenyra. If he wanted revenge, he would have gone to Alicent himself but she’s the one that summoned him. He thought she was talking about him and not Daemon. He had already lost his honor and didn’t want to lie to the queen (still think he shouldn’t have said it though)
There’s a guy sitting at the bar that sort of looks like Taylor Hawkins.
Weird I literally saw them the first time right as I was reading this 😮
