Seriously, if you’re asking such a rudimentary question, then you probably shouldn’t visit the Mach Loop. You can easily spend all day there, in rapidly changing weather, and see nothing. Get some practice at your nearest airfield so that you know roughly what to do. You need good technique, and you need to know your equipment fairly well.

The best starter lens would be a 70-300, that will give you a decent enough start and will probably do the job long term for you.
