Hey guys! So we had very little time today with this car to shoot this video and Mini made some more announcements after filming. The 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder engine under the hood actually makes 295 lb-ft of torque, which is less than the old 2024 model, but the 312 HP is an 11 HP jump over the old version! Also, the pricing for this John Cooper Works was announced to begin at $47,895 including destination. Overall, we're big fans of the upgrades Mini has made and we also got a chance to see the redesigned 2025 Cooper behind closed doors. You'll be seeing the new version for the US market unveiled on Feb 7th, 2024! Stay tuned for lots of new product from Mini very soon!
This is an amazing design!! It's really refreshing to see a car with such character and personality in a sea of cars that look basically the same! This is definitely something to consider in the next few months. Absolutely stunning!!
Finally adding all the techs that matches the premium price. I absolutely love the minis and glad to see them keeping the ICE engine for a bit longer. Hopefully the options are gonna push the car to 60k price margin, may convince my partner gets one of this used 2 or 3 years later as the practical small suv for my household
The brown Chesterfield interior in recent Minis looks incredible. I hope that will be available in the Countryman in this generation & also finally offer ventilated front seats since this one is $48k
Mini asked me not to start the vehicle..... lets start the vehicle.... :) Nice update to the Countryman. Was on our look at list but the premium fuel requirement disqualified it from further consideration.
@@991carreras3. I’ve managed to save over a $1 million at retirement, paid off my house, and have investments. ……I STILL clip coupons, and buy everything on sale.
I still personally think they had completely ruined the design of the countryman. The reason it sold better before was because it was initially intended to be the larger MINI in dimensions and design. And having owned a countryman myself, 2017 to 2023 design was a smash hit. And also was their most in sales! To change the design to this, it no longer has that MINI vibe to it.
You haven't been paying attention the new Aceman size and look is taking the place of the previous countrymen, this new country man is now a bigger segment altogether and more mature. If you want many to grow you need to understand it needs a broader audience. And this new more mature countrymen brings in that.
When the R60 and R61 rolled into the show rooms - much the same was said.... My wife still won't trade for the current gen Countryman. I'll take a wait-and-see approach though I'm almost fully stocked on the current gen models.
See it's interesting, I just had a clubman and loved it and can't wait to go and order me one of these. It's utterly gorgeous, I just miss the mini door handles.
@@brandonpollard8928 Yea the designer for Mini didn't go with the round headlights because they thought it would look cartoonish. They are most likely right.
The HUD requires a film inside the glass to illuminate, and cars that project onto the windshields have that film in the entire windshield. OK for luxury models, but adds thousands to the cost of the windscreen. Insurance companies hate them, and many will no longer allow glass guarantees for vehicles with HUD's that require windshield replacements at high cost.
Mazda has integrated HUD as standard in the Mazda 3 and all new models released after this E generation, and they are way cheaper than this Mini. No reason for BMW to cheap out on this front.
The heads up display issue in the Countryman is related to the angle of the glass. The sister BMW X1 and X2 have the display is the windshield - the difference being the angle of aforementioned glass.
I’ve always kind of liked Minis because they were quirky and kind of unique. But I think as the company has focused more and more on larger models they’ve also edged into…well, just kind of weird. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as its cool to be different. But I have to wonder if it’s impacted sales numbers.
I looove it and waaaant it 😍 I’m so THRILLED that Mini has finally added common sense safety features to their vehicles as well! It still blows my mind that up to this point no Mini has ever come offered with blind spot monitoring. I know they’re “Mini” but the technology is also used for door exiting assist (prevents you from opening the door if a car or bike is approaching) which I would imagine would be helpful in European cities 😂 Anywho- I’m loving the updates and I’m excited to see what Mini has in store for us next!
I don't think so - for most markets the auto transmissions are almost "required" based on MPG ratings. Would be a nice option for the smaller models - if the Countryman sells really well BMW/MINI will tend to reward their enthusiasts with row your own cars - they have in the past....
My wife hates it too - we have 3 Minis with the HUD and one without (an older R60 S) - you can stow it away and 90% of the time I do - I guess I won't know how fast I'm going unless I look over at the center display - that that would be years from now as I'm keeping my current collection of Minis for a while yet.
That Mario sound was a dope touch! But I feel like the strap as the third spoke on the steering wheel will not last long term…then again neither will this car 💀
Good review as always Sofyan, although I think it's too big, and the loss of the basic cluster, no physical a/c controls and no idrive controller are all serious negatives. I'll be curious to see if the new high output B48 is as turbo laggy as it was in the previous JCWs and X2 35i . It really needed a mild hybrid to fill in the low RPM response.
I think putting it into sport mode does the trick for me after the car understands that i'm not playing around with it, It stays pretty responsive. But I get it compared to another cars 301 horsepower kick down it needs insistent power
They still have not rectified the cup holder design issue: still no spring-loaded tabs (or similar) to grip the cup/can/bottle so it doesn't wobble. The air bag cover is out of proportion in relation to the steering wheel. It just is in your face big looking.
Big fan of the 2022 countryman s with malt brown interior and the jcw this new one is super modern especialy the screen really like that jcw will be amazing
They kind of done away with separate fog lights - the current light assembly has "weather mode" built in - I do though like the look of auxiliary / driving / fog lights - I'm sort of jealous of my wife's Clubman S - she has fogs my JCW doesn't....
I definitely feel you but I think BMW is smarter than to step on their own toes with the BMW iX X1 X2 and M versions and such.. ya know. What do you need your Mini to do? Beat coupes off the line? Lol

You should be fine also the dealership experiences very respectable and fancy lowkey, My dealership does breakfasts and "many" events. Owning a Mini turns into a lifestyle the people are cool even people without Mini's are happy to see you.
I'd say they can be (reliable) - mostly depends on which model and year - very few that are still on the road today have major know issues/ avoid at all costs. I would stick to ones that are newer than 8 years old or so - I'd also look at the 4 cylinder models vs. the 3 cylinder ones - not because of any reliability issues but because of overall power / driving experience. If you have an android phone they also do not have Android Auto. Maintenance costs are higher than other makes too - if you step in to a JCW the brake job for one of those can be over $600 if you have the dealer do the work. If you buy from a CarMax I'd consider the Max Care warranty - won't help on maintenance but major repairs would be covered.
I used to run my wife's Countryman with 91 octane almost exclusively and that was fine based on the owner's manual - around here 93 is way more expensive but none of my current MINIs have large tanks so it's not too bad when I fill up. What nobody will talk about is what is actually in the manual - go by that. It's probably more important to buy good gas than higher octane with a less than quality brand.
Great review, and I really like this car as a daily driver. That said, I hate the outdated, old-school powertrain. If any car Needs a high performance Hybrid powertrain, it's this one!
My goodness... all those cloth surfaces (on the dash & door cards, etc) over time the amount of dust (and worst case, gets wet and/or stained...) you will be sneezing so much. Wheel design...mehhh. Points for making the display entertaining and interactive - Mini is literally a fashion statement.
Just like Porsche with the Cayenne and BMW's X5 - this will serve to help bolster enough sales to support things like saving the manuals, sport cars, sedans and coupes - while this may not be OUR cup of tea the survival of things we do really love are typically funded by the sales of SUVs and "boring" cars. And before we pass final judgement on this model I'd suggest getting behind the wheel of one when they show up at dealers. All of that said the tail lights on the '25 2 door hardtop are hideous though some amount of JCW-styling might help make them at least help...
