    I am also a father with a young son who sometimes interrupt my gardening. I find it adorable and heartwarming the way you and your son interact politely and full of understanding. Don't mind those saying they are not pleased with the interruptions. I am happy watching this video and I'm looking forward on enjoying my own black beauty eggplants with my son and wife.

    Brother, so glad you didn't edit out the "blessed interruptions" by the lil guy!!! As a Dad of 5 grown kids, and now a Papa of 10 grandkids, PLEASE cherish every single moment with your babies. Before you now it, they've grown and started families of their own. Great vid, by the way. I really screwed up on the harvesting of our eggplant! They're all dull and discolored.

      We have found ourselves in a similar situation with our eggplants this season. Even though eggplants love heat, we had a long spell of 100 degrees temps with no rain, and that was just too hot. Many things in our garden really suffered this season because of the temperature alone! As far as your plants in the containers, they do best in very dark colored containers, as to absorb as much heat as possible, but eggplants do prefer being in a bed or in the ground. Hope this helps, and hope you've been able to enjoy some of your harvest!

      @@GardenofEnders oh yes indeed I made alot of home made eggplant parmesan, they still taste fantastic and im getting alooooott of eggplants was just concerned I had a soil deficiency or something it has deficiency been super hot here in south Ms but we have been getting a little too much rain and I was also afraid they were getting too much water, the one I have in a container is a black container but is for some reason just growing very tiny fruit but super tender and tasty

    My first two are about half the size of yours, but to me it almost seems like they're losing their sheen a little bit, so I'm going to pick them. I have fertilized and done everything correctly so I'm not sure why I'm not getting larger fruits. And I only have four of them growing at the moment, no new flowers, and it's mid-august already. 😢. But the plant itself is vibrant and healthy and green with big nice leaves. I broke off a bunch of blooms a while ago when these 4 fruits started because they say they only have between like four to six growing at a time, but I thought I would start getting new blooms when these started to ripen and I haven't. I do have the Little sprouts coming up between the stems that usually put out blooms but I don't see any new little buds yet. Hoping to get at least one more round of egg plants before winter.

    • @GardenofEnders
      @GardenofEnders  4 года назад

      Great Question! Keep in mind you can pick at any point during the growing process as long as the egg plant has reached a somewhat mature size based on the variety, which can be found either on the back of the seed pack or on the plant tag. You’ll have to trial and error it though based on the bitterness or toughness of the variety after you cook it.

    Your video is a great reminder of the value of patience and perseverance. It takes a lot of time and effort to grow and harvest melons and oranges, but the end result is so worth it. And the fact that you're able to make a living by selling them at the market is even more impressive. Keep up the great work! And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.

    I find stuff in your home garden is usually always smaller, for the most part not always but more often than not. However it usually makes up for the small size in much better flavor. And then sometimes you'll have stuff that is 10x the size of storebought stuff cause they can't sell those inconsistent freakish sized things at market. So that's kinda the fun of home growing you never know what you're gonna get but it's always fun no matter the outcome. Unless of course the outcome is a bunch of diseased and dying plants that no matter what you seem to do just keep dying, there's nothing fun about that, even that though, if you manage to bring them back from the brink of death with fertilizing and care and sprays and love, that stress suddenly turns into joy and an amazing feeling of knowing that you brought these plants back from abyss and now they are the thriving. My bf always wants to give up on plants the second they start looking a little tired and I'm always saying that if there is still green then it's alive and trying to live and there is a chance to bring it back. We had a purple bell pepper I refused to give up on this year and sure enough it came back. He wanted to tear it out so many times hahaha. Anyways though, I'm rambling. The eggplants look great sir, keep it up.
