Poor guy didn't realize saving Jonas would turn out to be the biggest mistake of his life.
I say ur 50% right.
50% Jonas was an asshole friend who may or may not have knocked up his friend's wife.
50% may have given him the kid he and his wife both wanted.
U know what let's make it
10% good guy
90% ASSHOLE
@@tut28Angel Dude Jonas fucked his wife, if Morpho wanted to raise another guy's kid he could have adopted instead of trying to get fertility treatment.
Jonas blackmailed him with a video of him cheating on his wife and continued to do so after fucking said wife, getting her pregnant and making Morpho believe the kid was his. Then when the guy died he turned him into a cyborg slave. That is 100% capital E fucking Evil right there.
Jean Morlevat also attempts to steal said cyborg slave’s body many without giving him a chance to talk to his kid
@@tut28Angel Let's be honest: Jonas, almost certainly, killed Morpho and his wife and intended to also kill his (potential rape-)baby son.
He was a stone cold psychopath, with books worth of corpses on his hand.
Even if the Morpho hadn't finally told him to screw it, he'd been using him for illegal jobs for years, he knew too much.
Jonas makes the Guild look tame. He's clearly the villain of the whole series he even makes the Sovereign seem chill sometimes.
21 and the Monarch are real bros now. Any normal Henchman who called the Monarch a Dingus would have gotten a Lethal Dart.
+CassDaMan1138 Remember when the Monarch wanted to scoop out the Pirate's eye and 21 is just like
"What are you a monster!?!"
For some reason I find the Monarch's "WTF IS A MORPHO!?" quote particularly hilarious.
It's rather difficult when you're down to your last henchman.
Also, note that when Gary grabbed his wrist, for a split second you can see a look of panic on the Monarch's face, glancing at his wrist. Gary can easily physically overpower him in this scene, and he realized that and backed down. Then he respects him enough to tell Dr. Z he's his #2.
the monarch is not sectioned to have lethal darts
Jack Kirby actually did write a short-lived Blue Beetle comic. I like that detail.
They gotta respect King Kirby.
Well, Blue Morpho is a reference to the Green Hornet.
However! Jack Kirby did still make Green Hornet comics, so this still holds up!
"When they team up to fight L Ron Hubbard."
Love how casually stated that was.
+GothaBillsAndDeath - Great continuity too. The Monarch's parents can be seen in the flashback opening of Spanikopita when Jonas and Team Venture fight Hubbard in Greece.
+GothaBillsAndDeath While we're on the topic of casually mentioning things, I like how the Monarch just outright told 21 he's been whacking off to hentai in the season finale. No explanation of the word, nothing like that.
If nothing else, they sure know their audience.
Go to Hell-ron, L. Ron!
Who's...L Ron Hubbard?!☹
@@nateescobales6930 The founder of Scientology
Monarch being the second Blue Morpho is probably one of the best plots in this series
+B. Buster And what's more, it seems like it was teased in that one teaser for All This and Gargantua-2. Remember Watch and Ward's emergency transmission? The guy in the blue suit who looked oddly familiar?
Especially, like Rusty takes to being a good Villain, Monarch is a good Superhero.
@@nivekian I really thought that was the direction they'd go in. Rusty finally embraces his inferiority complex and goes full villain while Malcolm becomes the Blue Morpho just to keep arching him, only to find that he and 21 are better suited as heroes.
Rusty become evil, meh
Heh, if the series ever continued where he and Dr, Mrs the Monarch have a kid (even though they agreed not to have children.) but if they did he or she be third generation Blue Morpho or second generation Monarch.
Monarch: "WHAT THE F**K IS A MORPHO?!"
#21: "It's a kind of butterfly, dingus!"
Classic
for a guy who was raised and obsessed with Butterflies (albeit Monarchs) that is ironic
@@sethleoric2598 Fun fact: Morpho are a genus of Butterfly, but Monarch butterflies are NOT part of that genus, they are part of the Danaus genus.
I would like to think they did that on purpose, while you think being a butterfly nerd Monarch should know what one is, but because it technically doesn't have anything to do with his species of butterfly, it was a blind spot.
@@darkmask5933 im gonna believe that, Venture Bros creators always hide little details.
"Say did Blue Morpho...ever have his own comic book?" That....he wanted to know more about his father didnt he?
Probably. Or was curious how BIG his dad got
Love the character development. Old 21 would never stand up to Monarch, and old Monarch would never apologize to his henchmen.
To be fair, 21 is the only henchman he has left. He can't exactly kill them by the dozens anymore.
@@foxymetroid Right. Especially after the Moppets tricked Hatred into thinking Gary was betraying him
Not even a henchman anymore. At this point, Gary is Monarch's partner. He better start calling himself Viceroy in the movie...
Like this was essentially the Smurf argument he had with 24.
21 is that rare blend of expendability and invulnerability that makes for the perfect henchman.
The Blue Morpho is one of the Saddest heroes of all time. He lost everything.
So did Jonas. His attempt to cheat death was ultimately foiled by Blue Morpho. I suppose this means Morpho got his revenge.
@@SuperNormalMan Jonas ran the trampoline on Blue Morpho's wife... He turned him into a mindless robot and dumped him in the trash... He was forced to become a villain... He lost his wife, his son, his body, his mind, and his soul...Jonas got off easy.
@@Saintbow Jonas Sr, arguably the absolute biggest scumbag in the entire series.
@@Saintbow not really easy since he turned into a body less cyborg meant to charge a spaceship then a building for the past years no communication to anyone like a “you want to scream but you don’t have a mouth to yell”
what a way to go
@@thefez-cat arguably? Im pretty sure its factually
You gotta love how when 21 spells it out for him, he instinctively lashes out but after a little bit, he just apologizes, admitting that he's just taking it pretty hard.
Goes to show how the Monarch is growing out of his cocoon.
"My father was a boozed-up socialite"
Can't blame him
The Blue Morpho's outfit looks awesome. It's got that Noir detective/The Question look that makes it look superheroic without being too outlandish or goofy. I must admit, the more the Monarch takes on his father's role, the more he seems suited for it.
+EmptyMan000 It's a play on the Green Hornet.
It's an homage to Green Hornet, but the color scheme is definitely the Question.
EmptyMan000 it all reminds me of the Green Hornet; probably not a coincidence
@@vguyver2 i get what you were going for.
It's ironic that the equivariant of the Green Hornet has to be The Blue Morpho. Butterflies are the number one prey for hornets to hunt. In fact, those hornets might as well be "Brock Samson" to a butterfly cacoon.

Love when Monarch asks about the comic book, and stares up at the costume. He's already thinking about trying it on.
I would love an episode set in a parallel reality where Monarch was always a heroic vigilante and Rusty became a villain like Killinger said he was destined too.
That would dope.
Would make for a good April fool's episode where it's all played completely straight like this was just the status quo for the series the whole time
@@bomberfett3439 All right, hear me out, Hank and Dean as the henchmen, a disposable army of them, because clones.
JJ regularly fights his arch Dr. Vengeance, with the new Blue Morpho and Kano offering occasional assistance
"Not Kirby's best work."
That’s saying something
It cant be any worse than JImmy Olson
That was back when Marvel had standards.
BeavisSaves Hey lay off! He introduced Darkseid in that series!
@@alexh4319 DAMN STRAIGHT-twas JUST about to type the same thing!
It tells you a lot when Jonas first response after being rescued was attacking his savior. It’s just no one sees it since the history remembers him as the greatest hero of his time.
He totally distrusts him from the beginning and it makes no sense other than Jonas being a sore loser
Well, considering that the Blue Morpho is a homage to the Green Hornet and GH's cover was he's criminal mastermind muscling in on other criminal's turf....BM might also use that as a cover for his heroics. Heck, even Scaramantula thought BM is muscling in his territory.
It's literally in the comic book 21 shows the Monarch. The Blue Morpho even states in his adultery video that his reputation is that of a villain and a vigilante... which means it makes sense that Jonas assumes the Blue Morpho is planning something villainous.
Jonas is a max-level d-bag but in this instance it's justifiable.
I just realized something. In the second part of 'Family that Slays together', when 21 and 24 are listening to the fight between the OSI and the Monarch, they hear someone screaming and comment about how whoever is screaming is definitely on fire. Then, when Kano kicks the henchman into the fireplace, the same scream sound plays.
you gotta appreciate the attention to detail
Its also the scream for when SCP-096 rages
I would totally watch a spinoff with just these two as The Blue Morpho and Kano.
mega rouge All day
For years.
Kano dose all the work
yeah however it would end in tragedy as we all know what happened to their job and who knows how badly kano has felt after what he had to do to him.
Fernando Bravo
Kano killed Jonas Sr. right? Because of the Orb? Or am I wrong?
You got to admit Morpho is a cooler name than Monarch.
+geardog24 they are both cool names, Blue Morpho sounds very bold, while The Monarch has some fun word play.
@@koatam it's true when Monarch stands for butterfly the word Monarch Oso stands for like an Empire or in the king
I think monarch sounds cooler, but his costume is less cool. It grows on you though.
@@schnoz2372 Just like Sheila's voice!
I'll admit it. It IS a cool name. I didn't even know what a Morpho is until this clip.
I like how 21 and the monarch are bonding.
+Thepnastyone - 21 is much more assertive now. In the past he would have *never* called his boss a dingus or said his plans were stupid like he does now. He's more like a partner than a henchman.
Henchman Twenty1
In a way 21 underwent a metamorphoses
+Henchman Twenty1 the puns!!
Me too! And 21 has become so protective of the Monarch, too.
Well, they sort of has to at this point. Gary's the only henchman that Monarch has left and with his wife being preoccupied with her work in the new Guild, one could say they went from a boss-employee relationship to being actual best friends.
I bet Kirby's art was fine and it was ruined by the inker.
Isn’t that usually the case?
@@maneoj46 Always is.
It's weird that in the Venture Bro's universe, Comic book artists draw comics based on what are real people in their world.....while still drawing fake heroes like Spiderman and Batman.
@@Gojiro7 people watch cop movies don't they
@@Gojiro7 Isn’t that true in both the Marvel Universe and DC Universe? I’m pretty sure it’s referenced in She-Hulk and Powergirl.
A green hornet parody ! Now the show is complete ! :D
+William Bailey I was wondering where this is from lol.
so awesome lol
this should become a tv show
Not yet. We're still missing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles parody
BokanProductions A TMNT PARODY? NOW I KNOW THAT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!
Something interesting I found was how in he comic version, Jonas is wearing ripped up Safari clothing, opposed to the neat and cleanly kept tuxedo. Maybe he got the comic dramatised to make him look cooler.
Absolutely, he hated that he lost and hated that it made him look weird
It's funny how Malcolm has kinda become the Protag of the series
Villain Protagonist. It's a nice touch.
...yes...BECAME the protag.
I actually really liked The Monarch as The Blue Morpho.
I love everything about this. This season so far has be GOLD
There's so many little subtle details as to why the contrast of Blue Morpho and The Monarch work, beyond them just being a superhero and supervillain respectively. Color design, blue and orange are contrasting colors, which works both as a visual as well as thematically appropriate choice. Another is Monarch not knowing what a Morpho is, even though both are butterflies, Morpho is a completely independent genus of butterfly, Monarch Butterflies are part of the Danaus genus, so him not knowing what a Morpho is is actually on-brand (not to mention, let's face it, Monarch doesn't actually know that much about butterflies, he didn't know they only lived for a year when he went to Mexico, and he didn't know they don't sting).
I think he is just so full of himself that he can't stand being confronted by any lack of knowledge
I love how Manolo just is hanging out there, and tries to start the car without even asking a literal super villain. Dudes got stones.
If only Blue Morpho didn’t save Jonas he would still be alive. However without a son probably.
ok the Blue Morpho is probably the best new addition to the show in awhile
Absolutely.
0:41 just realized that scream is 096, they used this for his scream. huh neat.
I wonder if the "great man" Kano took from this world was the Blue Morpho. (see the ORB episode)
That'd be a hell of a twist
+Henchman Twenty1 That's probably exactly what will turn out to be the case. Jonas was a major scumbag.
Speaking of, Monarch killing villains to clear his way to arching Rusty is pretty scummy too. Like father, like son.
Henchman Twenty1
They basically had him say that last episode when he complained about wearing his Monarch outfit again.
Rusty hunches over a lot, though. He's taller than he looks, but not by much. Also, Malcolm does use heels/pumps in his Monarch outfit.
Kano did go silent when Brock asked about the death of Jonas. So apparently that's a secret too...
So Venture is like Johnny Quest while Morpho is like Green Hornet. This show really does do a lot of throwbacks
YES! Although they included Jonny Quest cause they realized that they owned it and could use him direct.
@@eldersprig It's actually more than that. They made it as a thinly veiled parody called Action Johnny... then they found out that Cartoon Network owned it, and went wholesale, saying he is a grown up Johnny Quest. Then the network told them to keep it vague so that they didn't make "substances abuser" part of Johnny Quest's canon.
Love the irony and beautiful failure in this show.
Only 21 could call Malcolm/Monarch a dingus, and get an apology for it.
Even his knockout darts are like the monarchs. Maybe Malcolm saw some laying around as a kid and thought oh those look cool.
That would explain a lot. If you look at the details of the house, even before it's finished there are tons of butterfly details
I love this show so much!! Sadly, no one I know knows the show 😧
+GAMEGRUMPS4LIFE i know your feel
+Julien Decocker I'm so sorry you have to feel this emptiness. :C
hey im grump
+yutubeblows88 I'm not so grump!! and we're the The Venture Grumps!! 😉😉
+GAMEGRUMPS4LIFE haha nice
Venture was probably pissed at him over stealing his thunder
I just realized, one part of Green Hornet (who Blue Morpho is parodying) 's schtick is he's pretending to be a mysterious mob enforcer as a cover to him being a vigilante, so that might explain why Jonas doesn't trust him at first and Scaramantula says "muscle in on my racket"
I would love to see Team Venture go against L Ron Hubbard
+ccghidorah1 They did in a flashback in the episode Spanakopita!
You're right I forgot about that episode. Stupid Saint Cloud presensce made me mentally block that episode even though it was great.
2:01 21 catches Monarch's arm when he goes to hit him. Looks like he could really overpower Monarch if he wanted to.
Honestly, colonel gentleman slipped in the greatest burn for that italian engineered spider right at the beginning.
He knows his dad was all about butterflies yet he never put two and two together
I don't know if he really remembered his parents that much at all
It's how secret identities work. They're brutally obvious but people can't see them.
"Lance Hunt wears glasses, Captain Amazing doesn't wear glasses"
"He takes them off when he transforms"
"That doesn't make any sense, he wouldn't be able to see!"
I love that he calls the Crime Computer corny and then a few episodes later asks why 21 isn’t using “the big computer.“ Not so corny after all, I guess.
Now if we can just work Orpheus (and the Triad) into the season...
+rajvader They aren't in this season. Was confirmed by the creators.
+rajvader, they need their own spin-off
Be cool if it featured Trianna, maybe Dean could get some finally lol
NeuralNetProcessor
He may have scored with that 4-armed gal... But they can't remember clearly.
Kinda' a parallel with Hank there.
+NeuralNetProcessor Unless Lisa and Doc get undivorced, Triana's gone forever.
I forget how low-key some deaths scenes are in this show. Blue Morpho’s henchman just straight up CRACKED another henchman’s skull in the palm of his left hand!!!!
If you look closely you’ll see the henchmen are carrying Thompson submachine guns, an appropriate model for the occupation of Italy in the 1950s. The care the writers take in the historical time is impressive.
0:25 love the clear 3d model smoothly sliding through the window as 2 choppily animated henchmen get crushed under it
Calling it right now, the only reason Jonas arrested the Blue Morpho was because he stole his spotlight by defeating his arch.
This is exactly it. He hated not being the center of attention and he hated that he lost. It actually makes me wonder if this wasn't why he targeted the Blue Morpho as his stooge in the first place.
I just got the joke of "Not Kirby's best work", implying that Morpho was adapted by Marvel. Nice and subtle, well played!
I love how the Monarch doesn't know a type of very famous butterfly.
0:41 holy shit 096 just broke containment
I’ll take “Not Kirby’s Best Work” over anything Stan Lee would have done with him any day.
Getting the fun of both Monarch and his dad having a shared butterfly shtick
The venture bros did a better spoof of superheroes than the boys ever could
We finally got to see the result of Scaramantula's machine that spins steel like spider silk. (Mentioned in season 3). This show's continuity is terrific.
Do you think Monarch will just be Blue Morpho from now on? I kind of hope so.
Guess not.
I think "Cancelled after 6 issues" is a joke about The Hulk, who was also cut short at that number.
@1:36 anyone else wondering what's in the _third_ suit vault? There's one for Morpho...one for Kano... *and a third one on the left!*
+Mic Nor I think it could be for a female Morpho who could be Jonas Sr.'s wife
+Mic Nor maybe the blue morpho had a female sidekick?
+Mic Nor maybe the blue morpho had a female sidekick?
it might be mentioning a original trio because the monarch had 21 and 24 but now only 21 is the buff fighter henchman and 24 is no more
+drillz007 ...or maybe for dr. mrs monarch/ girlfriend/councilwoman
Even in a fictional world, Jack Kirby is still the god of comic books.
Also it is clearly a good parody of The Green Hornet... Am I the only one who thinks he's also very similar to Steve Ditko's The Question in at least the visual appearance?
His death causing a rift in Team Venture also reminds me of the second Blue Beetle.
Holy shit, the voice actor for Kahn in king of the hill does the Italian supervillain! I knew I recognized his voice from somewhere
So are we not going to question how BM drove to Spider Skull Island?
Flying car
Am I the only one who hears the SCP 096 scream when the guy gets kicked in the fire
Didn't know that the Scientologist founder was a villain
In the show, it's a running gag that one of Jonas Venture Sr.'s nemeses was L. Ron Hubbard.
IRL, ohhh, you bet. Scientology conducted the greatest act of espionage against the United States government in the history of the nation...by infiltrating the IRS to work the system so Scientology could get a religious tax exemption, as well as purge any official documents that could get the organization in trouble.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Snow_White
It's one of those WTF moments in history that honestly deserves a documentary.
Well he invented scientology, that's a crime right there. Where exactly is it you go, when you die, when you're a scientologist. If you're atheist and live a good life you can still get into heaven. Is Hubbard gonna reanimate and gather souls to the afterlife?
@@HalotakuThe terrifying thing is that it makes me want to root for the IRS. That's how slimey that cult is.

I wonder if the Monarch becoming the Blue Morpho will be a permanent thing or if its just a character arch for this season.
+Indego84 I hope it sticks until the end of the show and he ends up being a good guy (with Rusty as HIS archnemesis perhaps? haha)
+rockomundo At the very least, I hope he keeps some of his dad's old gear and incorporates it into a new Monarch costume. Seriously, the Monarch's dad is my new favorite character.
+Indego84 it makes complete sense. remember how Dr. Killinger tries to convince Rusty to be a supervillain? And then, Killinger doesn't let Monarch be on the Guild Council? it's totally trying to set up the role reversal
+Indego84 it's going to be a thing till his wife catches him being a hero and than Dr Girlfriend will kill him and 24! or 21=) both to be honest hehe
Monarch won't be a good guy. Killing villains so he can clear his way to arching Rusty is a pure villain move.
I like how Jack Kirby just exists in this universe.

I've been wondering something for a while. Since there is the theory that Rusty and the Monarch are related, what if Rusty is a clone of the Monarch. They have similar appearances, but Monarch, being the original, is taller and more capable.
It's not a theory they literally said it in the show. Jonas cucked Blue Morpho

Weird how in the actual situation, Jonas is wearing a suit while the comic depicts him in a ripped adventure get-up.
Possible mis-comunication between animation departments? Probably
In-universe explanation: The comics preferred to depict Jonas as ONLY an adventure. Not as scientist, not as a socialite, none but the globe-trotting adventurer
21 gave the Monarch that first slap out of courtesy...
The Blue Morpho is actually cooler than the Green Hornet.

ya know, thinking about it. Malcom and Rusty are both near identical builds. Rusty has lived a pretty cushy life but Malcom has been to prison, worked out, and been apart of who knows how many outings. Yet hes still a twig. Thats genetics. So what was it that Jonas did to his own body if his genetics is strong enough to have two sons with the same scrawny frame
Dr. Quymm is implied to be their sister and she is also very thin, as are her daughters. Hank is a bit more muscular than Dean, Dermott isn't gangly either, but none of the Venture relatives are anywhere near Jonas's bulk or height
