The Legion of Boom was derived from tha Tampa 2 defense, which is actually a different variation of tha Cover 3. Pete Carroll ran that same defense at USC before coaching at Seattle and learned from Monte Kiffin, who was Tampa Bay's defense coordinator from 1996-2008.
It's crazy because there are rare moments where cities have the privilege of watching truly special teams, and those moments are only eclipsed by watching them break apart. I watched Cam Newton take the Panthers on a ride to the moon. They lost the Super Bowl and you literally watched it all crumble. It's such a hard ride for the fans. Can't imagine how hard it is for the team.

After the Seattle loss 2 years earlier, I wouldn’t be upset if the panthers had won that SB against us.

LOB ended the hottest season I’ve seen by my broncos when we met them in the superbowl 😢 I’ll never forget it as a fan. From the first snap it was helmets to the chin 😂 I’ve never seen one team dominate like that defensive since the Ray Lewis Baltimore Ravens.
Die hard Niner Fan for life, I despised the LOB but always respected the talent on their squad. We were the 2 best teams going at it for a while. Made for some unforgettable games. That rivalry was incredible.
I remember this when I was a kid. This team made me and my friends LOVE football more than we already did. They were so explosive, so dynamic, the offense was just as fun to watch as the defense, just an incredibly well put together team that was pure fun to watch.
Everything must come to an end, nobody said it would be so hard to watch.... just as exciting an amazing it was watching get built, it was 10x more heartfelt watching it go down.... as a fan, it was so much watching that defense play, it was so phenomenally executed to a "T"..
