Hi again Slot - brother.
The motor shaft holds the pinion gear.
The rear axle on an inline setup holds the crown gear.
On a angle or sidewinder setup - it's a spur gear.

Hi Dave, good review on the F1 cars. Just a comment regarding the teams, the modern blue and pink is Team Alpine, the red and white is Team McLaren and blue and green is Team Benetton.

It's the Crown gear not spur.

On the motor is the Pinion Gear: but depending on whether or not it’s an inline motor, which gets a crown gear, and a sidewinder or angle winder get a Spur Gear.
So the larger gear is either a Spur gear or a crown gear.
I learn something new everyday
