LOVE what Steph said about the affirmations. If you don’t believe it, it doesn’t work! Love the idea about STOP too

It's a recent shift. It's also an extremely hard one but trying to see it that way is definitely helping.

Good effort on trying to be aware of the “We” Craig.

Thanks! It's a constant struggle but something that we feel is super important as we try to heal through codependency.

On the topic of little kids being expected to sit quietly. When I was in the third grade we were expected to sit quietly after we ate lunch until the bell rang. I was making a friendship bracelet and quietly said “shoot” when I made a mistake. The lunch monitor thought I said shit and a kid nearby said yes that’s what I said.
They brought me back to my classroom and told my teacher what I did and she proceeded to cross my name off every class chart and told the class to pretend I didn’t exist. So when the office came to get my to see the principal they acted like they didn’t know who I was. I was the best student in the class (previously I got cornered in the bathroom and slapped across my face by two classmates bc I “thought I was so smart”).
It is SO MESSED UP when I think of it as an adult.

That's horrible. It's crazy to think that the adults thought that was a good idea at the time. Sorry you had to experience that. 💙💜
