  • The 'Puddle Lake Expedition' is an epic journey tracking 3 friends seeking adventure, solitude, natural places, mystery, exploration, and of course, trout!
    This is the complete series of the "Puddle Lake Expedition" where we set out to access a remote natural brook trout lake in Northern Ontario, Canada by traveling by canoe.
    We used a creek system that fed deep into the wilderness to access the lake. It was a long and arduous slog, but we reached our destination and reap the rewards - adventure, solid and remote trout! We will show you not only the beauty of Canada, but also plenty of wild edibles such as cattails, clams, trout and more and plenty of bushcraft, from fire cooking and shelter building. We'll cook over fire and forage for natural spring wild edibles!
    0:00 - Journey To Trout Waters
    23:18 - The Itch To Fish, Venison, and Labrador Tea
    47:50 - The Early Bird, New Camp and Bushcrafts
    1:15:27 - Food Preservation, Potable Water and Timing
    1:44:57 - Primitive Cooking Trout, Ticks and Aging Fish
    2:05:10 - Nature's Buffet, Freshwater Clams, Fish and Cattails
    2:29:36 - Upriver We Go, Sausage Over Fire and Parting Thoughts

    The people that leave a dislike on this video have no soul, this series had me from start to finish, the narratives you added completed it for me and made the parts where you was trekking and had no dialogue have more of a meaning with the stories you told and any facts / information that was suitable for the scene that was being recorded. You captivated my attention and taught me a few things along the way, this has to be one of your finest achievements as a RUclips content creator, or at least in my eyes. Keep up the good work!

      I've been there Kevin and one thing I wish I had done was try to find some local places to do some nature stuff. But I realize some cities that wouldn't be possible. Make sure you get back to it when you've got everything in order with school, but before career grabs hold, then there is family, so make an excuse. Something I ignored for nearly 10 years before going back.

    I grew up in Michigan's upper peninsula. It's beautiful country, much like Canada's wilderness. It's also not quite as densely populated as the rest of the US. Though the products of humanity's destruction is yet evident. My dad tells me stories of how when he was a kid, he was able to pull large trout out of the water with his hands, in creeks that are now all dried up. I can't experience what he did, not nearby at least. Perhaps far off the beaten path, far away from humanity's reach. Though there is something I can say, despite the damage we've done, there's still plenty of fish in our lakes and rivers; native species even. Lake superior is still filled with fish both young and old. Trout still swim in our rivers, native ones, not the ones stocked by fisheries. I feel like we need to preserve all this, do our best to make sure what was here to begin with stays here.

    Well. It took me 3 days to finally watch every second of this video. (I've been busy fishing myself) I'm going to say that your channel has quickly become my top 3 of channels I follow regularly. I have taken in lots of knowledge that either yourself or Jeremy have provided. Jason isn't to shabby either. You guys make a great team. To have a best friend such as Jeremy is a gem. I do things solo for the most part. My family worries. This kind of adventure I honestly would probably end up going alone on because I have a sense of adventure that doesn't end.. That and I would eat the tar out of those perch lol. Please keep the videos coming Chris. Atb Seth. Thumbs up man.

      I could never duplicate it LOL! Well maybe one day I'll try again, but there was something more striking about this lake when we first discovered it. Actual survival challenges have made us more stern in our approach I think. But this is really about the emotion behind the motivation to explore new areas, something more reminiscent of my youth.

      Wicked, that's a great feature on this long video! I'm torn between making videos in series, and doing the long versions. The follow through rate is so much lower in the series, but it's hard to get people dug into the long videos since everyone is pressed for time. I think this is a good video to throw up on a screen and just let it play in the background.

    • @jacobward7507
      @jacobward7507 6 лет назад +1

      I like seeing it come out as a series... I like the anticipation of waiting for the next one and it's probably easier for you to do it that way. Releasing it all together some time later makes it nicer to re-watch.

    As many of you are probably know, there was a recent ruling by the CITT and CBSA that changes the way the CBSA will be interpreting the definition of “centrifugal knife.” As you can see here this new interpretation means that the CBSA is considering any knife that can be opened with one hand via a flipper tab or thumb stud etc. as a prohibited weapon.
    The odd thing about the situation is that knife law as stated in the Canadian Criminal Code has not changed. So unless the police across the country (many of whom own such knives) decide that the border agency’s decision should also affect how they enforce the criminal code, nothing should change within the country. Our current knife laws mostly treat knives as tools and intent of the user is key: if you are using a knife or threatening to use a knife as a weapon, you will get into trouble; otherwise no-one bothers you.
    There is a movement shaping up within the Canadian knife community to challenge the CBSA / CITT ruling. Anyone who cares about this please take a moment and fill out the link down below to a federal petition (sponsored by a MP) and other ways to support the cause. Whether you are a business or an individual, your input matters. Please take a minute to add your voice! I would urge everyone to visit the link below and support this petition:

    Seen it was a 3 hour video, went out and bought snacks and popcorn. Fiancé asked “What are you watching?”.. I replied “ I’m watching three grown men and they’re sausages.” .. The look she gave me is permanently engraved in my head.. Great Video though!

      I don't know how I did this, it just happened. Maybe it was because I just held the camera all the time and just talked into it or around it, vlog style...

      The Wooded Beardsman yes I loved it man. I found your channel about 2 weeks ago as it was recommended watching one of Joe's videos, and I'm glad I did. You are now my favorite RUclipsr. I have a Google chromecast so I'm able to watch your videos on my big flat screen. Your videos are long like movies with is amazing. Pretty much I respect you alot because I can see that you work hard "behind the scenes" like with camera placement and things.

    We need more people like jarimy and my math teacher, people who actually help the environment and people who have an amazing ability to be organized when most needed, and myself, people who are willing to be open minded but do as much research as possible.

    • @silvertheelf
      @silvertheelf 5 лет назад +1

      And people who are adventurous like all of you.

    Thanks for putting together this amazing feature.
    I'm 1/4 Canadian and born in Africa. (1/4 Dutch and 1/2 Scot). Wer'e about to emigrate to New Zealand for my Kids and a job (white folk not welcome in Africa anymore). I grew up camping in South Africa, like 40 times a year, but its unsafe and expensive now. Most of my camping buddies emigrated to NZ or Aus. Canada looks like a good option too, just a bit cold in winter (we only have a six week "winter"', three weeks below 10C.
    Keep 'em coming :)

      Yeah, it's cold for 2-4 months here depending where you land! Good luck in NZ.

    Tim Richards from Morgantown WV. Just want to say I love your channel and look every day for new uploads. I’ve watched a lot of them several times. I was happy to see the camping in the swamp today. I work subcontracting during the day and stock shelves at night so I check every day when I get up.
