Oh My Stars My Mom used to make this for our dinner, we each got our own little salad on a salad plate. She cut the bananas in half and cut them lengthwise She put the bananas on some lettuce and drizzled the dressing over the banana’s and sprinkled with chopped walnuts! She also used brown sugar instead of white! I will always remember this salad but I didn’t know how she made the dressing. Thank you for the recipe I will try it your way too. It was many years ago as I am 75 😊 I love your site!!
My mom, in WWII she picked up a banana salad in New Mexico. Sliced bananas, cubed cantaloupe with a dressing of peanut butter and Best Foods Mayonnaise. About 50/50. Sister Jay
My mother used to make a salad...canned pear halves(drained)on lettuce leaves. She put many spoon of mayo in each peat half, shredded cheddar on top. We loved it.
I have never heard of this before! Even reading all the comments and the different "Recipes" everyone listed, it blew my mind! I will try it out of curiosity.
My husband and I just made your banana salad . I was lucky I got 2 spoonfuls out of it. He inhaled it. It was great. Love all your videos. God bless both of you for taking time out of your day to share all these delicious recipes
Have you ever used Fruit Fresh for your fruits. Sprinkle the Fruit Fresh over any fruits that tends to turn dark and it will surprise you how long you Fruit will stay normal. Fruit Fresh will be with the canning supplies.
I just remembered another banana 'salad' that Mom used to make (when we were young). Peel your banana, cut in half lengthwise, spread peanut butter between the halves then place on a leaf of lettuce on a small plate. Open a tin of pineapple rings making one cut to drape over the banana. Drizzle some pineapple juice on top and add a spoonful of cottage cheese. Haven't thought of that for decades!
I remember something similar. Banana-mayo OR peanut butter-chopped peanuts-a sprinkle of sugar, white OR brown. ✅💜 I bet your recipe with the pineapple is good and the acid helps keep the banana from turning brown.
I remember making banana salad in Jr. High Home Economics using sliced bananas and shredded lettuce. Same type dressing. We all thought the teacher was nuts but it was so delicious. Still make occasionally.
I’m in my 70’s and I grew up eating banana sandwiches with. Mayo also Pineapple sandwiches with Mayo and French fry sandwiches with Mayo and ketchup , all are delicious and I still make and eat them today I also love fried egg sandwiches with Mayo !
This looks really good. I grew up on banana and mayo sandwiches, so these ingredients won't be too off for me to try! Wishing everyone a wonderful and blessed week! 🌻🌼🤗Deb from NC
Yes, a lot of salads are best served like that. And it's especially pretty of you have a clear bowl and throw some fruit pieces or herb sprigs in the ice.

I love this banana salad. They used to fix that when I was in junior high school in the 60s. They would just slice the banana and mix in the dressing and sprinkle with chopped pecans or walnuts. So good! Try putting nuts in the next time you make.
I glanced over at a perfectly ripe banana on the counter, and thought, ‘Why not?’. Scaled down the dressing ingredients and tried it! Wow, is it ever good! I might just take a full salad to our next Fellowship Potluck! Thanks for sharing this delicious salad!

My mom would make a salad very similar to this, but there was apple, grapes, and banana in it. The dressing was exactly the same as your recipe. I always like the banana in it the best. Another good recipe to think about making for sure! I would leave the apple and grapes out it, just banana LOL. I haven't thought about this salad in years. Thank you!
My mom would cut bananas lengthwise, put on a bed of lettuce. Mix peanut butter, mayo, little sugar, stir and put on bananas. Put plates with this in refrigerator and serve as dessert.
