This is the Finale video: How to Prep and Plant Garlic.
It’s the last of the 33 video Playlist for Backyard Abundance.
It’s been 150 days since we first planted seeds and starts. Thanks for being part of this gardening journey.
This video overviews how we prep the soil & raised garden bed for planting garlic. Then, it shows how to plant garlic.
We plant BOTH hard and soft neck varieties.
To ready for planting, whole heads are broken up into individual cloves.
We cover spacing (fist apart) planting depth (fully sunk & covered) and moisture needs (not too much). Noting that typically we plant around late October and harvest in June. So, it’s about 7 months from planting to harvest.
Little tip: I divide my harvested garlic into 3 bulb sizes as follows . . .
Smallest - we eat
Medium - we sell
Large - we plant
With the 2 rows of garlic planted we wrap up and overview the highlights of ~400 video clips which all went into the content for Backyard Abundance!
