  • Celebratory / high points of the year are numerous - I attribute them largely to being grounded in identity statements and then setting clear targets on how to move the needle in many areas of my life. I’ve just returned from a trip to Ethiopia visiting small-scale coffee farmers, learned a LOT and met some amazing people!
We’re doing trials now with leeks & cruciferous veg both in the garden and growhouse.
The biggest accomplishment I made evident on this channel is Backyard Abundance.
Starting to upload videos in early March, hoping for timing to match prep for our region (Zone 8) spring time in Western Canada.
Then starting with laying out an area of 3 raised beds - each with different materials/budget, building soil, laying it out, setting up pest/critter proofing, drip irrigation and composting and then putting in seeds and starts we did updates every 10 days. We got ready for fall/winter plantings and wrapped up the final video (#33) in mid-October with garlic being planted and fallow soil being protected for winter.
Over the summer / fall we passed 35K subscribers - thanks. Please subscribe if you haven’t!
Along the way there were bumps - i love to trail run and in spring I rolled an ankle on a downhill descent. It was weeks to walking without a limp, swimming at first to rehab, then cycling and around 4 months until I could cautiously run.
Each of the past 5-6 years I’ve become more devoted to setting clear targets to work toward in every area of my life.
With this i’m seeing a lot of clarity and purposefulness. I’m able to better achieve my life purpose and feel more fulfilled.
Goals and Growth will become a Playlist in the New Year to share and inspire others to achieve their fullest potential!
    Big accomplishments:
    1. The biggest garlic I’ve ever seen grew in our garden this year. A variety called Creme de la Rasa
    2. Very successful fruit drying with 2 fruits I’d failed at before: figs and prune plums
Here was the key - after splitting the fruit, I used a potato masher to create surface area!
2 other amazing experiences this past year:
Hunting for whitetail: check out the beautiful Euro mount.
Cycling event - draw - wife won trip to Italy - we celebrated our anniversary cycling at @hoteldorry in Riccione, Italy.
If you’d be interested in a group of 10 or so of us who love wellness and sustainability to meet in Italy for a week or so of cycling and great food together. Message me on my Facebook page or my IG page and I’ll pay attention!
