We had a unique experience with our oldest cat. We already had a wonderful 4 year old Labrador, Lily, when we brought Junie to our home as a tiny kitten. Junie instantly bonded with us and Lily. Lily wasn’t so thrilled about having this tiny kitten following her every move, chasing her wagging tail, or being used as a cuddly warm spot to sleep on. Lily was a trooper, and the two of them became the best of friends. Fast forward 3 years. Lily goes to a vet for an orthopedic surgical procedure. Complications occurred during the surgery, and within 2 days, we lost our beloved girl , Lily. That fast, she was gone. We were all devastated, heartbroken and in mourning . Over a period of 6 months, Junie had a rapid decline in health. He also started biting, as well as a host of other concerning problems. We had taken him to the vet, several times. Other than weight loss and this new aggression, he was otherwise considered healthy. We tried everything. Nothing worked, and Junie started declining even more rapidly. About 8 months had passed since Lily’s death, and while Spring cleaning, I found one of her old squeaky tennis balls in the house. I became emotional and decided to keep it. Junie was sleeping in our sons room at the time, and heard me squeak the tennis ball. He came running out, tail high in the air, sniffed the tennis ball, and started running all around the house, making his chirping noice he would make, when He and Lily would play. Junie looked everywhere. It was then, I realized he was just as traumatized as we were over the loss of Lily, and was frantically looking for her. I had not seen Junie this happy or active in months!! Although emotionally we were not ready for another dog, we made the decision to start looking. Maybe it would help Junie. We found another Lab, and named her Ellie. Ellie was a puppy, and a spitfire. She was just what we all needed, including Junie. Most importantly, Junie’s health started to improve at warp speed. His appetite and sweet disposition returned. Junie instantly loved this new, little barking, pudgy puppy. Ellie is now 5 and Junie is now 9. We have also added a new addition to the mix. A loving Ragdoll, Waylon. The furry kids are the best of pals. Apologies for the lengthy reply, but this segment made me realize, sometimes you really need to look outside of the box when it comes to our cats physical and mental health. We are thankful everyday for finding lily’s tennis ball. Without it, I’m sure Junie wouldn’t be with us today. Happy, loving and in excellent health. 🥎
Yes pets misses each other that's for sure I lost my cat Bella and all her kittens as .other nature didn't let it happened she had to be put to sleep ny dog Bonny was looking for her I know she misses her but now we adopted this stray cat from human society it's not friendly it hides all the time and doesn't want to be friends with my chiuahuas I'm hoping she'll stop growling at my dogs as they're very small much smaller then this cat Either we might bring her back but I want to give her time but if so we would adopt a kitten this way the kitten will play with my dogs n be friends that's all I really want is an affectionate kitty not one that I have to worry about at night I sleep with a rash and my dogs ?!!!
Oh my goodness, this story almost made me cry when you found the tennis ball and your cat was looking for your dog! I’m so glad he’s doing better and happy and healthy!
Everytime someone talks to me about a pet's behavior changing after the loss of another pet, I am like, "hey, your dog needs a dog" or "your cat needs a dog" or "your cat needs a cat" etc. I think it is easier to see from the outside what is going on for a lot of reasons, mostly though that I am not actively in grief and the family is. Glad you wrote this comment. Hope lots of people read it and are helped by it.
My cat sleeps with me and three dogs, snuggled in amongst us. He missed my rescue terrier that had raised him when the terrier died, but attached to another terrier who. Had been taught to groom and play with the kitty. Other cats in the house made him very stressed however.
As someone with high-functioning Autism, I do not like loud noises at all. It creates stress, anxiety, and panic attacks in my experiences. Many people do not understand this. I also have very sensitive hearing. I also don't like sudden change. I remember when I was little, my parents would ask me if I wanted to move my bed in a different area. I always said no because I liked it where it was. I did not like it when the furniture was changed to different areas. I remember I was upset when they moved my sister's crib to a different location in her room. I also don't like it when people try to randomly throw things in my schedule, like some family trips. It builds up stress and anxiety.
I just feel awful. But it's only because you have identified for me the things that i have been doing that weren't a big deal to humans, but have probably been a big deal to my beloved cat who understands none of this. Thank you for your enlightenment.
I would love to see a video about how to care for an elderly cat with renal disease - how to prolong her life, how to treat, how to improve her quality of life.
@Diana Moore You are so correct!! My Molly passed away 8/30 and she was hyperthyroid, plus in renal failure for 7 years before she passed. She lived a good long life, to the age of 21. Being hyperthyroid she was thirsty a lot, so that helped with hydration. I still added water to her wet food , it's so important. I want to add, as our cats age, they seem to be a bit more touchy. We don't know how they feel, it's so important to show them love, without annoying them. My vet & I discussed this and it really helps. I would make sure I petted her, massaged her neck & ears, gave her kisses, w/o aggravating her. I would buy special treats, like fish from Culver's, oh she gobbled that up!! (I would check with your vet first). I really believe all the xtra love helped her to live a long good life!! 🐈♥️🥰🐾
I had an older cat. He hated being forced to take medication so much that he just accepted it. He got to the point were anything I gave him, he would just eat it because he knew, If he didnt he would be forced to. Give your cats the option to take meds freely first then force them. You will be surprised how fast they pick up on the fact they are given a chance to take it on there own volition. I have 4 cats now. I used that experience. All of my cats will take there meds when I want them to. I guess it only take a couple of pills being forced down your neck to understand.
I have a cat backpack. Not one of those mostly-enclosed plastic ones, it's a "Fat Cat Backpack". There's tons of room in there for my 10lb cat, but I have it for my 17lb Maine Coon. I live on the 23rd floor, and found that if there's an emergency (Like a fire) where I need to exit, carrying both of them down 23 flights of stairs is just too much. So he goes into the backpack, which makes him *much* easier to manage. It's a tight fit. He needs to duck a bit in order to fit, because he's a long cat (38" nose to tip of tail) so it's only intended for short trips. Every weekend I take him down to the lobby of our building in it and he gets his Very Favorite Treat. He hops out (on harness and leash) hangs out for 30min to an hour and people watches and then hops back in the backpack to let me know he's ready to go home. That way, if it's ever an emergency, he's not being shoved into something unfamiliar.
I have cats and only one litter box because my male jumps out the window to go to the bathroom. Now my the female barely uses hers because she's started to do the same. Saves us money on litter big time! I'm so surprised at how fast she caught on too. She was a stray we took in that the neighbors neglected and from birth she never was inside a house. I couldn't believe how she instantly used her litter box almost as soon as I pu it together! First time cat owner here! Always had dogs and they always had to be trained and it was hard to get them to go in the right places. The cats are a lot easier! I was in shock! My other cat is older so he has wisdom. He taught her to go outside. Amazing animals!
So so so on the nose! Exactly about cleaning the litter daily. My kittehs can't flush their toilet and how unfair if one doesn't help them with that daily. It brought to mind about cleaning wet food dishes daily. Fresh water twice daily. At least in my home. I don't like eating off a dirty plate or one that hasn't been rinsed well enough of dish soap. Could make for a sick cat with the runs. While on the subject of feeding, I haven't yet watched all your videos yet so I thought to mention about feeding cats from a wide dish or bowl so as not to cause whisker fatigue. I've only recently learned about that and how it can be pretty awful for one's furkid. You are such a brilliant and intuitive good doctor! Thank you so much for your know how!!!
It makes me so mad when people neglect to wash their plates properly or change their litter and water often enough. Those ppl should not own a sensitive kitty. My cats would only drink fresh water and eat off clean ceramic plates and that's why they all lived 2 decades and never got sick!
I moved to a two bedroom just so my boys can have more space in NYC. I couldn’t imagine shoving them into a book bag. I did get them a stroller to take them outside for fresh air. I made sure it was big enough for the both of them to lay comfortably and I did use treats to get them comfortable with it.
You tips are so helpful especially this is my first cat on my own. I adopted her when she was 2 months about a year-and-a-half ago from Paws so all this is new to me. The way you explain you're helpful tips are so easy to understand because you explain it not in doctors terms. You are the best veterinarian this side of the Mississippi. Sarah if there was an award show for veterinarians you would get the veterinarian of the year ♥️♥️♥️
@Together One, She is great I admire her also. I have had many cats during my life and just want to add, you never stop learning! I have picked up quite a bit of information that is very helpful to me. You may know this, do not have tiger lilies around your cats, it can be fatal if they chew on them. I didn't know this for many years, so wanted to pass that on. The best to you with your furry friends! 🐈🐾🐱♥️🐈🐾🐱
My cat loves car rides, and is ok with change, I have made lots of changes since he is a little kitten and he is used to changing houses, traveling, lots of different people, walks. Even a paddle board rides. Kind of an exception to the rule for sure.
@@angiboz why not leash train the kitten? There's instructions on u tube. It may be a bit harder with the 5 yr old but it would be healthier for them if they were actually walking. They would benefit from the sensory experiences of jumping, climbing, smelling etc
Chewy has such a nice soft cat carrier and I leave it open in the house and we have 3 cats at my house, 3 at my moms and all 6 love to sleep in the soft cases, so I highly recommend soft crates not hard if anyone has issues like that.
Just took my 13 week old kitten to the vet for wellness check + first round of shots and she did NOT like the carrier or the car ride but was fine once we got in the room at the vet and she could get out of the carrier. She loves water (she’s a bengal) but you’re spot on with everything else! Haven’t had a kitten since I was a kid (I have two dogs) and these videos have really helped me adjust to what a cat versus a dog prefers. 😻
I recommend unless your cat got into something that requires a bath to just not give them baths ever. It's so dramatic, stressful and can even be dangerous.
So yeah, my cats do not like baths so I can’t get them a flea bath and the only thing I can get away with is brushing them. Oh, theyshed a lot in the fall.
With supply chain issues getting my cat's favorite (no, only wet food) has been difficult. I am one who believes cats understand our language because it is essential to their life. So I tell her that I know the food I got is not the one she wants and that I know that I know this will not do for more than 2 days. She actually seems to respond and eats the food I provide... Well, that is as long as I get the good stuff in 2 days!
Cats understand much more than we think they do. They are highly sensitive I think they can read thoughts. They definitely know what it means when you tell them you love them
I have a backpack style carrier for my cat, Rachel. As a blind person, I can’t easily juggle a traditional crate style carrier and use my cane at the same time. We’ve been using this carrier for about two years now though, so I think she’s used to it.
My tom cat will only bite when u pet anywhere besides his head and neck. I learned that very fast. Once i learned that we have had such a great relationship. Thanks for another great upload!
My 3yo male cat had to be on medication for 4 months due to crystals in his bladder + kidney infection and after the first month of giving him his capsules (2x a day) coated w creamy treats, he started looking forward to his meds. So much so that I'd put the capsules, naked, in his food bowl, he'd gobble them up and then get treats and pets. But the moment his treatment was over and he felt better, he forgot all about it. Deworming him is a task now. Also, his cat carrier is a cozy comfy cat cave for most of the year but he figures out when it's time to go to the vet and then I have to force him in there. He's the best.
There are so many better options than those plastic carriers. Those didn’t exist in the early 90’s when I had my Persian kitty. I am looking to buy a soft carrier that you can also take on the plane with you if necessary. At 14 years old, I am reluctant to travel with my kitty other than locally.
It would be great to see a video about how to help make your cat transition best when moving. Especially for a family moving a long distance from their old home with their pets.
I trained my younger cat from a lil kitten to be ok with water and I'd actually recommend getting cats to at a minimum tolerate bathing because it's way more stressful for both if you have to wash an elderly arthritic or chubby cat that can nolonger clean themself well enough. My cat gets a bath 2x a year just to reinforce it. He's totally fine with it, loves the scrubbing and scratches and will even purr sometimes. He does have to air dry cuz he isn't fine with the blow dryer
Just make sure you wrap him in a few dry towels then. They can catch chills which can be serious for a cat. There's a box dryer you put them in that's just hit the market that's silent. It's the noise they hate with the hairdryer
Our cat lies on his back, paws in the air waiting for his stomach to be tickled but he has a few unique behaviours we have been told. Lol. Handy video. Thank you.
My cat is not a lap cat, doesn’t like to be picked up but you can pet her all day everywhere! I usually only give her a couple of tummy tickles though when lying on her back. When I first got her at 1 year she let me pet her continuously on the belly. I was super gentle though.
I have one of those kitty backpacks. I use it just for going to the vet and other normal necessary cat travel. She really, really hated the classic, plastic carrier and would growl and fight me when I tried to put her into it. (She was also originally picked up as part of a TNR program - maybe that's part of it?) Idk, she's much better about being put into the backpack style and seems more comfortable when she's in it. According my vet, she'll jump into the backpack carrier by herself as soon as her visit is over.
My best friends cat used to always push my feet with his head and roll onto his back and let me give him a belly massage with my feet. 😂 it was the easiest way for both of us when I was sitting down 🥺
I totally agree with what cats hate. But I did have an exception to the rule. One cat I had loved car rides. No training he would hop in and stand up on the dashboard looking out no running round the car just standing looking out the front window. He loved going places. He would come running if he heard the car door open. He taught heaps
I have done it, but sticking a tablet down my cats' maws is just too traumatic for either of us. So, thank goodness for drops. Things my cats hate: other people. The growling when the postman comes is something else! 🐱🐱
The carrier issue is easily solved by leaving one or two carriers permanently in your house/apartment in some safe places with nice blankets/toys. My cats now love them, sleep in them, eat, even play a little. I have no issues anymore transportinf them. The car issue has been partly solved as my favorite vet is very close by so the drive in the car inside a carrier is short, 5-6 minutes.
Love your channel!! Can you talk about how to avoid fights and can keep both cats in the same house living happy when we have a passive and aggressive cat??
Yeah my cat pulled all her front claws out on the door of a hard carrier..... Took months for them to grow back normally..... Got a soft carrier now. So much better
Thank you Sarah, the more one knows of these great and fanciful creatures the better! I just got a mackerel Tabby, and he seems a joy! He actually dances !😃His name is Jas’purr
My cats LOVE their SportPet carriers and so do their vets. They are triangular shaped and collapse down for storage. They open from the side. Super easy at the vet’s office.
Hi Sarah my cat Molly was off her food. I watched your videos and LEARNT SOOOO MUCH. Thank you. 😊🙂🙂🤩😍🥰 Your help distressed me over my girl being unwell.
One of my cats was raised with my pit bull. He loves to be pet like a dog, ruffling the head, strong side pats…he loves it. The other cat, not so much. They are all so different. It trips me out.
i have a hooded litter box for my little guy but it's because he LOVES to dig and gets it everywhere.. would really like to change this and get him a better (but affordable) litter box set up
#11 Petting them backwards. I discovered with my cat at least that she gets incredibly annoyed when i pet her backwards (bum to head) When she's in the mood to grapple and lures me in with fake welcoming belly exposure just to wrap me up and start kicking away, sometimes she get's a bit too much into it and hurts. All i do is a quick gentle neck to head stroke and she lets me go lol. So now she has associated that as a punishment when she gets naughty or too aggressive.
Sphinx and hairless cats need frequent baths. I have friends and they have to give their cat, Figaro, a bath frequently because his skin can get very oily.
Both my cats love tummy rubs and neither one hates water (although I do not bathe them). They do not react negatively to being petted almost everywhere, but these two (and two who is no longer alive) are very different than the many many cats that I have been owned by in my 67 years. Also both these cats fetch and come when called. Probably because they are mese mixes, lol
I have two cats (both were strays we took in), one hates getting her belly touched and the other one loves belly rub. Their personalities are quite different.
I like your videos very much I'm very happy that you're spreading knowledge to the the pet owners out there that need information to better care for their pets. I find your information is true and correct. I respect your opinion and your points are valid in a generalized scared shelter cat way. As a companion animal expert specializing in ragdolls. I have an opposing viewpoint. I'm a breeder of ragdolls I just must disagree with your not not don't rules. I raise my kittens more intuitively using only what I have learned from them about their likes and dislikes. What their ok with and can learn, not other humans. I don't like the whole not changing anything because that's not real life and it is what what perpetuates these percieved issues and restrictions about cat ownership. I know 100% if you change everything from their birth they adapt. When they're a young kitten, you take them for rides in the car, put them in the crate, walk them around on a leash, You laugh loud, you play music, Use the vacuum, pop the trash bags, use power tools, you live life. That is what makes the very best cats. The very companion animal that we're all searching for. My kittens are exceptional. They grow up with a tremendous courage and ability to go on adventures and do wonderful things. They're smart. They're engaged. They want to be involved with whatever you're doing. They're trained easily for future exposures. As long as you're trust and love bond is strong. If you do all these things. In a consistent and safe way that's just normal for them. So this...don't do this, don't do that.... i'm saying, I break every one of these rules and my kittens are awesome. Ride or die companion cats 🐈
AND, i have had cats for most of my life. I'm ashamed but more educated. Kitty will be happier if i can help it, or i will no longer think of myself as a good guardian of her.
When my cats are really relaxed they do like petting on their sides and tummies, under arms, but I use a light, soft touch. The three I have now are all neutered males, but females have liked it too. Another thing the stronger males like is being lightly tapped on their sides, when they are standing, like you would pat a dog. They seem to enjoy this, but not so sure females do. Again, do it carefully and lightly. They'll let you know if they are not enjjoying it!
On the "But my cat loves baths/car rides!" front...much like how in general humans don't like someone else's fingers in our face, I'm sure there is a human out there who enjoys it/doesn't mind it ;) That doesn't change that the general consensus is "don't put your fingers in front of someone else's face!"
@AllAboutCats - my kitten Deluxe barely survived FPV as a very young small kitten…. As you know the fatality rate is extremely high and almost always fatal in Kittens., HERE I AM 3 months later… all of the rest of my cats have gotten their FPV booster shots due to Deluxe contracting it… everyone is healthy now.. however Deluxe still requires his prescription nausea medication (as needed now instead of daily.. but it still is needed 3-4 days per week) .. he has sporadic depression… and the smallest URI for example that would typically run a 14 day course through a healthy cat and go away… is a potentially fatal event due to Deluxe having lowered blood cell counts and the FPV actually attacking his bone marrow… so the extra precautions I have to take each and every day truly is beyond anything I would have ever imagined.. I would sincerely if you did a video titled “A Cats Life After Surviving FPV” this video ideally would 1.) tell what FPV is.. 2.) let individuals know why the vaccinations are important and how it is everywhere in the environment 3.) the survival rate after FPV is confirmed 4.) and most importantly LIFE AFTER SURVIVING.. I would love to know YOUR knowledge regarding LIFE AFTER FPV.. because It seems I am experiencing new things every week, sometimes multiple new things a day. Like you were saying about rare exceptions to tummy rubs.. well Deluxe is no longer capable of pooping on his own. He requires extra fiber in his diet daily.. and at times he has to be put in a bath so I can assist him while he is pushing in order for him to properly relieve himself. He specifically comes up to me at least 5+ nights per week and rolls right over needed a stomach massage to help loosen feces compacted in his intestines… :-( Please do a video on this topic it is so important as I never understand FPV until it struck my Deluxe “Special” Edition before he was even 8 weeks of age (which is typically the age a kitten is vaccinated) his brother Braxton did not survive and passed away 8 hours after his diagnosis. :-( Thank you for your Time
Once my cat fell into the bathtub while being curious about my taking a bath. He was horrified and i got scratched while struggled to get out. It was kinda funny, but I felt sorry for him.
Unfortunately I have to travel a lot with my cat. She is in long car rides , change every few months when I take another assignment . She use to adjust very well when she had her brother but her brother died couple months ago. Now I noticed she is way more whiny , getting constipated when she never use to. There isn’t anything I can really do about it except giving her anti anxiety meds ( tgat I think is what caused the constipation ) she is 15 and nobody I know will take her in while I travel a lot for work.
I have been watching many of your videos as well as your co-host, who usually discusses food, toys and other items. The 2 of you make for one of the most informative places on the internet concerning cats. I enjoyed this video as well as the many others on your channel. You mentioned a pheromone to give cats; one that you liked the most but I didn't quite catch the name. If you could state the name of it as well as the most common reasons you would use one...stress(?) or whatever it may be. Thanks
Our oldest cat will occasionally share a shower ,he's crazy, will also sit on your chest when your trying to relax in the bath. The kitten avoids water lol
I have a cat that hates when the cleaning lady comes over. And I discovered it because she got sick after one of the visits. Now, when the cleaning lady come over I get a lazy afternoon with her in my bedroom where there isn’t any fuss going on. LOL
Riley hates water. Luca LOVES the bathtub when I shower or take a bath it’s sooo silly. He’s fascinated with being in the bathroom lol. Luca has FIP and is going through GS treatment and is about to graduate through observation. He was on the brink of death and he’s healthy as ever. Can you talk about FIP and how amazing the treatment is? Or will it compromise your liscense.
I have two very different boys. They were paired when I got them, but a lot if their information was redacted on their paperwork, so I am guessing they were MI-6 or some other covert operation. But I digress. One cat runs under the bed when ever I pull my keys out from my pocket and the other would go investigate a bomb that just went off. Not that that happens in my house a lot. . . just the right amount, I think. . . But I love them both! Sammy and Dino. . Because they are the "Rat Pack!" (Dino is a tuxedo cat)
Dr. Sarah, thank you so much for your videos! My boy has a hard time taking his cat lax. But he has to because he's a Maine Coonie with long hair and he cleans a lot. So he ends up with constipation pretty often. I put off giving it to him because I dread it so much. Can you suggest an easy way to give it to him? He's a good boy, but hates cat lax time. I have tasted it, it doesn't have much of a taste so that's not the problem. It's me sticking my finger in his mouth he hates, but how else am I supposed to do it?
I have recently adopted a young cat. We already have an older cat and have had no incidents. We use pee pads with the older cat. The younger cat isn't having it. In fact, she defecates in the bathroom sink. I know that we are trying to get her to do something that isn't natural for a cat to do (i.e. the pee pads), but we are trying to keep down the smells and litter dust. How can I discourage this bathroom behavior and get her to defecate on the pad instead?
When we took in a forster cat we had our 5 month old kitten DID NOT LIKE IT! We thought being so young that he would like having an older Mama type cat (12 year old) to play with but for the first week all he did when she came into site was snarl and growl. Slowly they became friends and now play together.
My cat does all of these except sit on my lap or go limp when i baby hold her. She doesn't bring out the claws, it isn't all the time that she cries...but usually when I baby hold her she tries to get away and meows.
my cats have been pooing outside the box for years, clean or dirty boxes. My question: how can I teach my younger neutered male cat from peeing in our front living room? Our house stinks of pee and it is overwhelming. He is 2.5 yrs old and we have 3 other, older cats. I imagine he pees because he feels a little insecure and we do have strays hanging around our house at night. We are able to bring in all cats for the night. We have given him a stern "No" when we know that he pee'd but it hasn't helped. Thx for the video
If you could do a video on how to mitigate stress when getting ready & actually moving. Moving in a month and don’t want my 2 kitties stressing more than they have to.
Could you research whether or not it is safe to put an apple AirTag on your cat for finding them inside the house? I’ve seen conflicting info about yes safe, no not safe. Thanks!
My cat almost tripped me & I yelled move it !! & she is very sensitive & wasn’t the same for a whole week . I never yell so she wasn’t used to it & I felt so bad .
NEVER YELL at a cat they are too sensitive. That was unfair, she's probably still trying to work out what she did wrong! Lots more loving pats and positive talking is in order. You'll have to earn her forgiveness!
I really thought my cat liked the indoor cat box. I bought them. It was like covered and they had a little door and they went inside privacy then came out, but it got too much to clean so with two cats I had to get to open litter box, they’re so big and they eat and poop a lotas soon as I change it they go down there and use it right away like this is mine so funny I love animals. They’re so precious.
I do not understand my kitty,Gus. He loves water. Put water on him, doesn't bother him at all. But his very odd behavior with his water bowl - he will literally with his paw, digs all the water out of his bowl. Not only is the floor all wet, but so is he .
Yay! That's an ideal situation-you're going to have a much easier time getting those kitties to the vet and out of the house in the case of an emergency. Good for you!
"Cat hates it when other cats wonder in their territory" My indoor cat: I don't like my human touching my tree "Cat hate change like human" Me: I hate when time changes cause of daylight saving, my cat surely hate it too
We had a unique experience with our oldest cat.
Yes pets misses each other that's for sure I lost my cat Bella and all her kittens as .other nature didn't let it happened she had to be put to sleep ny dog Bonny was looking for her I know she misses her but now we adopted this stray cat from human society it's not friendly it hides all the time and doesn't want to be friends with my chiuahuas
I'm hoping she'll stop growling at my dogs as they're very small much smaller then this cat
Either we might bring her back but I want to give her time but if so we would adopt a kitten this way the kitten will play with my dogs n be friends that's all I really want is an affectionate kitty not one that I have to worry about at night I sleep with a rash and my dogs ?!!!
Are you sure you're not a cat? Jokes aside, I hear you.
@@Diolla_, Maybe. 🤣
😂
Cats are a lot like hypersensitive / autistic people (or maybe the other way round)
I am a new cat guardian and find your videos are very well informed and funny
I I sad djnf w
Very much appreciated!❤ thank you 😊 and keep sharing…..please!

My cats would only drink fresh water and eat off clean ceramic plates and that's why they all lived 2 decades and never got sick!
my Sons cat " Tyr " , absolutely loves avin her belly rubbed , she willingly lies on her back , all paws pointing North , & rub - she loves it 👍
I moved to a two bedroom just so my boys can have more space in NYC.
Love to hear that! We have a 5 year old and a 9 week old and want to take them on walks and just got a backpack. Wish me luck.
I love hearing about kittens who grew up leading these kinds of active lifestyles! So fun.
Same here. My cat likes to meet new people and doesn't care about changes in litter, food, furniture, etc..
Our cats love belly rubs. We spoiled them when they were kittens and they trusted us completely ever since.
Thank you so much awesome info
A long time cat lover/owner, I still learn new things and really appreciate your channel! Thank you!
My tom cat will only bite when u pet anywhere besides his head and neck. I learned that very fast. Once i learned that we have had such a great relationship. Thanks for another great upload!
Hello. Thank you so very much; I really enjoy your videos and am learning.
Glad you like them!
Always put them in the carrier backwards! It's too scary for them to be shoved face first into a cage.
There are so many better options than those plastic carriers. Those didn’t exist in the early 90’s when I had my Persian kitty. I am looking to buy a soft carrier that you can also take on the plane with you if necessary. At 14 years old, I am reluctant to travel with my kitty other than locally.
since day 1 we always had our carriers out in the living room. our cats love to spend time inside of them for naps and grooming time ❤
It would be great to see a video about how to help make your cat transition best when moving. Especially for a family moving a long distance from their old home with their pets.
I would love this as well! Thanks for the suggestion.
Wow, so much interest in information on moving with cats! We'll definitely consider this for a video in the near future.
Mine thinks she's gonna die in the car, poor thing. And she hates moving in.
Great idea.
I trained my younger cat from a lil kitten to be ok with water and I'd actually recommend getting cats to at a minimum tolerate bathing
because
it's way more stressful for both if you have to wash an elderly arthritic or chubby cat that can nolonger clean themself well enough.
Very useful tips. I have recognized some of these things. I'll strive for more consistency & shared awareness.
😂 it was the easiest way for both of us when I was sitting down 🥺
Sounds so cute!
right absolutely love your advice what do we do when hoovering my hoover is very loud we haven't got a kitten yet that will be here in 5 weeks
Thank you very much.
I totally agree with what cats hate. But I did have an exception to the rule. One cat I had loved car rides. No training he would hop in and stand up on the dashboard looking out no running round the car just standing looking out the front window. He loved going places. He would come running if he heard the car door open. He taught heaps
Amazing video! Thank You!
I have done it, but sticking a tablet down my cats' maws is just too traumatic for either of us. So, thank goodness for drops.
Things my cats hate: other people. The growling when the postman comes is something else! 🐱🐱
Mine just runs and hides!
@@annereidy7981 😊
I have a clean toilet so when my boy is done with the litterbox I'm right in there, cleaning that stuff out. He has to supervise, of course, lol.
My cats LOVE their SportPet carriers and so do their vets. They are triangular shaped and collapse down for storage. They open from the side. Super easy at the vet’s office.
Thank you for sharing we need more videos, please
More videos is what we're here for!
Our 🐈 Mr. G is totally agreeing with you...
I had a cat named mr. Gee!
My cat loooves change, in the form of new cardboard boxes and bags coming in the house hehe.
I discovered with my cat at least that she gets incredibly annoyed when i pet her backwards (bum to head)
When she's in the mood to grapple and lures me in with fake welcoming belly exposure just to wrap me up and start kicking away, sometimes she get's a bit too much into it and hurts. All i do is a quick gentle neck to head stroke and she lets me go lol.
So now she has associated that as a punishment when she gets naughty or too aggressive.
They really don't like backwards pats. It messes up their fur!
This is very great tips. Thanks.🐾
Awsome tips 👌 thanks for sharing 💜
Thanks for the Pointers of Happy Cats.. 😊 Looks like many, many cat 🐈 owners are giving in the Right ✅direction.
Would you recommend avoiding the “absorbent Crystal” type litters due to the urine staying present? Stick to clumping?
topic I suggest: homemade food for cats by months especially Scottish fold if possible please.. thank you, you are helping me a lot.
Yep my sisters cat is the one exception loves his backpack so much he goes in it in the house when he doesn’t have to
My cat loves her carrier bag, she sleeps in there every night. She likes driving in a car as well - she is special ;-)
He specifically comes up to me at least 5+ nights per week and rolls right over needed a stomach massage to help loosen feces compacted in his intestines… :-(
Please do a video on this topic it is so important as I never understand FPV until it struck my Deluxe “Special” Edition before he was even 8 weeks of age (which is typically the age a kitten is vaccinated) his brother Braxton did not survive and passed away 8 hours after his diagnosis. :-(
Thank you for your Time
Once my cat fell into the bathtub while being curious about my taking a bath.
Love your videos....😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Actually, my cat is so curious that she likes small changes to her environment. And she travels very well. She’s a weird one.
So cute!
I would like to learn more about FIP. So many humans lose their dear cats this way. What causes it? What are the stages? What can you do?
I have two very different boys. They were paired when I got them, but a lot if their information was redacted on their paperwork, so I am guessing they were MI-6 or some other covert operation. But I digress. One cat runs under the bed when ever I pull my keys out from my pocket and the other would go investigate a bomb that just went off. Not that that happens in my house a lot. . . just the right amount, I think. . . But I love them both! Sammy and Dino. . Because they are the "Rat Pack!" (Dino is a tuxedo cat)
My aunt has 2 types of literbox. One with cover and the other one not. One cat always use the covered one, and the other perfers the open one
Dr. Sarah is unable to answer these comments, unfortunately, but I'd recommend trying putting it in his food or smearing it on his paw.
How can I discourage this bathroom behavior and get her to defecate on the pad instead?
any suggestions for long distance car rides?? like when relocating from state to state😳
We have a few tips here: ruclips.net/video/Pe4CteeMDso/видео.html&
Lol. My little Sugar jumps in the car, as soon as the door opens and refuses to get out, until we take her for a short drive.
I had to bathe my cat Zipper who is not with us anymore. When we got him, he smelled like gasoline. He was kept in a garage before I got him.
When we took in a forster cat we had our 5 month old kitten DID NOT LIKE IT! We thought being so young that he would like having an older Mama type cat (12 year old) to play with but for the first week all he did when she came into site was snarl and growl. Slowly they became friends and now play together.
Do you have a video discussing more on pancreatitis? My cat has chronic pancreatitis and has diarrhea immediately after eating
Good idea! Thank you. In the meantime, you might like this article on the subject: allaboutcats.com/moving-cats-to-a-new-home
Are most medicines available in liquid form?. Or can pills be crushed and put in a pill pocket? Thank you ~ Diane
My cat and I came to an agreement there would be no bathing after bringing her home as a kitten with one bath.
my 8 month old tuxedo kitten loves car rides, if he hears my car keys jingle he runs to the door. i take him almost everywhere.
Not my Ragdoll she likes car rides, hikes, stroller rides… belly rubs… lol🥰
I really thought my cat liked the indoor cat box. I bought them. It was like covered and they had a little door and they went inside privacy then came out, but it got too much to clean so with two cats I had to get to open litter box, they’re so big and they eat and poop a lotas soon as I change it they go down there and use it right away like this is mine so funny I love animals. They’re so precious.
I do not understand my kitty,Gus.
He loves water. Put water on him, doesn't bother him at all.
But his very odd behavior with his water bowl - he will literally with his paw, digs all the water out of his bowl. Not only is the floor all wet, but so is he .
one thing i found fascinating was that there are feral cat colonies in spain where the cats actually fish and swim
They have to even if they hate it the poor things. Hunger is a worse feeling than being wet. They will dry eventually but hunger won't go away!
My cats sleep in their soft shell carriers 😂 they love them!

"Cat hates it when other cats wonder in their territory"
My indoor cat: I don't like my human touching my tree
"Cat hate change like human"
Me: I hate when time changes cause of daylight saving, my cat surely hate it too
