WSJ explores what we can learn about Zyn when we test it in a lab and how transformative the product could be for the tobacco industry.

It was and still is very hard to stay off of them. The cravings only recently went away after multiple relapses. While I totally agree that these are amazing for people that smoke or just wanna quit altogether don’t be fooled into thinking these are not addicting as well. It seems easy at first but man, I see people with those and wanna pop one in or I want to buy a can so much. Mint pouches help me stay off but it’s almost a necessity to prevent me from buying a can of Zyn.
The worst part of it all is I just don’t inherently think it’s bad. But there’s just a deep thought inside that can’t imagine it’s GOOD for you as well long term.
My advice if you’re a person that has never really messed with nicotine, just stay away. It’s not worth it, the money you waste for a maybe 2 minute buzz just isn’t worth it. Eventually you’ll just get used to it and get like a 5-10 second buzz then you’ll want more and boom, you’re dropping hundreds just to feel something. Lucky for me I limited myself, but I know friends that go through a can a day easily.
For those folks that smoke/wanna quit. Do these but wind yourself down from 6s to 3s and quit altogether. They’re very easy, helpful, and I think have a positive impact as long as you QUIT. But that’s a lot easier said than done.
Stay safe out there everyone. Careful with these things. I’m still gonna be strong as best as I can.

Nicotine pouches like Zyn are EXTREMELY addictive, almost to the point where if you use a few packs you might not quit for years.
The harmfull effects however are potential and marginal at best, apart from gum damage and the cost ofcourse.
I can understand Schumers view of trying to prevent the next generation from ever having a relationship with nicotine, but id be very surprised if america went for an all-out preventive ban of a product with few proven negative health effects.
I use about 24 pouches per day and have no plans to ever quit. It has very little effect on my economy so i dont really see a reasom to kick the habit unless new research results are released.

I used to have a friend who was a huge supporter of tobacco. I thought he was nuts. But as I got older, I realized that he was right. If you're addicted to nicotine, you can use that as a tool to help build positive behavior by rewarding yourself with a Zyn. For example, having a Zyn after a workout will help build a positive correlation in your brain to working out. My point is, with Zyns, you can really help alleviate the downsides of traditional tobacco and use it as a tool as well. Below is an abstract from the National Library of Medicine.
      Beneficial effects of nicotine
      M E Jarvik 1
      Abstract
Nicotine in tobacco brings illness and death to millions of people. Yet nicotine in its pure form has the potential to be a valuable pharmaceutical agent. Nicotine fairly specifically binds to the cholinergic nicotinic gating site on cationic ion channels in receptors throughout the body. This action stimulates the release of a variety of neurotransmitters including especially catecholamines and serotonin. When chronically taken, nicotine may result in: (1) positive reinforcement, (2) negative reinforcement, (3) reduction of body weight, (4) enhancement of performance, and protection against; (5) Parkinson's disease (6) Tourette's disease (7) Alzheimers disease, (8) ulcerative colitis and (9) sleep apnea. The reliability of these effects varies greatly but justifies the search for more therapeutic applications for this interesting compound.

ZYN has helped me tremendously with cutting back on smoking. Currently, I’m down to roughly 2-3 cigarettes a day (sometimes none at all.) At the peak of my habit, I was smoking at least a pack a day. Nicotine increases my resting heart rate by 20-30 bpm and takes my blood pressure to its healthy limits. I live an active life and regularly track these things, it’s remarkable how immediate the spike shows on the data. Emotionally, the nicotine numbs the peaks of my emotions, so I’m never really able to feel happiness, sadness etc to the extents that I know I’m capable of - I just feel kinda muted and always thirsty for more nicotine.
Living with that level of compulsive desire can overlap into some of my other decision making and has given me challenges when trying to use good judgement.
When quitting nicotine, which I’ve endured maybe a dozen times over the last two decades, I experience 1-2 months of brain fog and tiredness. when I think I’ve finally cut the habit, someone could smoke or vape in front of me and the compulsive desire to ask to partake is still quite strong. I believe fully that once the space for nicotine addiction has been made inside yourself, it never fully heals, so better to just not go there in the first place.

Nicotine pouches and the derived versions of it have been around in Sweden for a long time. Great alternative to cigarrettes. You get what you actually want (nicotine) without inhaling anything. Lots of Swedish research has been done on tobacco Snus too, not really finding any strong links to the types of diseases that you can develop from smoking. Nicotine itself hasn't been proven harmful either (in normal doses). What is problematic is quite simple, we know that inhaling anything that is not good clean air is bad for you, it's as simple as that. Having this as an alternative for smoking is fantastic and can greatly help reduce the rates of lung cancer and other problematic diseases.

It gets you off cigs and on to Zyn. It won't help you drop smoking, the nicotine addiction is something you have to overcome through willpower, not hoping another nicotine product will do that for you.
If anything, it will make your addiction worse, as this is straight up nicotine, that's being advertised as "safer" than cigarettes, which means people will consume way more nicotine through Zyn, like they do through heating tobacco sticks, like Heets and such.
Zyn is not a solution to anything, it's another product that makes you addicted to it, so that Philip Morris makes money off of you.
And consuming high doses of nicotine over prolonged periods of time have VERY bad consequences.

It may be habit forming in the way that coffee is habit forming and I'm sure there is the rare individual with some sort of problem with it but I am very sure that going without marijuana doesn't do anything near what going without nicotine did to me every time I tried to quit. Nicotine makes your body physically dependent on it. I don't think that marijuana, mushrooms, LSD, psychedelics in general create physical dependency.
