God help you if you expect them to refund you for missing items or entire packages even when they SAY they issued a refund. I was duped. I spent $300 and got only about $50 worth of the products I purchased. Cheaper to buy from Amazon and actually RECEIVE what I purchased. Posting this comment from Shanghai - it's just really the regular price you get for the same item you spend 3x more in U.S. I really never order things from retailers like Walmart as they simply do not worth that price tag. This is the magic of mass manufacturing that U.S. used to be proud of.
Most products are all made in China and follow the same quality - in fact, exported goods have higher standards than some of the domestic-only products because Chinese need trading and foreign consumers. Since I travel between both countries and stayed on both sides for decades, it always shocks me how expensive the U.S. products are compared to how much they should be priced at.
I almost always order from Taobao and it's easy to get shipped to U.S. Saves at least 50% more compared to shopping them around at Amazon, Walmart or Costco. Plus, they are really, really high quality goods, especially furnitures.

3:22 That's what Pinduoduo (parent company) does here in China. We love to use PDD to buy fruits and veggies directly from rural farmers, they are often home grown and unadulterated (unofficially organic). They cut out the middlemen, which is the supermarkets in this case. So we are paying growers directly for the goods, and not paying the supermarket's rent + their desired profits.

Another thing to note is that because China still claims "developing nation" status at various global institutions/organisations, like the World Trade Organisation (WTO), World Health Organisation (WHO), United Postal Union (UPU) etc, China is able to obtain extra benefits awarded to developing nations. By claiming developing nation status with the United Postal Union, the organisation who coordinates postal policies across the globe, China basically gets its international shipping subsidised by the "developed nations". This is why Chinese companies can send goods from China to the US, UK, Europe etc for next to nothing or even free in some cases. But when you try to ship or return something back to China it will be expensive. This developing nation status gives Chinese companies an unfair advantage in global e-commerce trade.

PDD is popular in China too. Most of people are not rich, we care about the price. That's the reason why pdd and temu are popular. But you need to master some shopping skills. For example, I will never spend 10 dollars to buy a mobile phone. There is a high probability that you will only buy a model. But if I just want to buy some garbage bags, then I don't need to consider quality issues, because there is no difficulty in manufacturing garbage bags, so the cheaper the better.

I ordered from Temu and everything I ordered was exactly as described and good quality. People should realize that the majority of low cost consumer products are made in China, so whether you buy from Walmart, Target, Amazon or online sellers, the source is probably the same. The question is, would you rather have money in your pocket or in the pocket of Jeff Bezos or Walmart shareholders? I know where I prefer mine. And the reason we see negative publicity for Temu is probably because US online retailers are paying shills to put out negative reports. Personally I dont have much sympathy for Amazon etc, because they for sure didnt when they were wiping out brick and mortar retail.

De minimis shipping avoids taxes, tariffs and customs/import duties
Temu also skirts taxes by lower cost goods. Tanking US retail shops that obey those laws are at a disadvantage. Boycott these cheaters.

Cheap stuff is all over, but I rather not pay a high price for it. Earlier today, I saw a key chain for $20 at museum gift shop that I got for $2 at Temu. I also got some other items from Temu that I've previously brought from other places for much, much more.

When I order something online, it's usually because I need it right away. I'm willing to pay a more realistic price for something that will arrive at my door within 1-2 days, than to gamble on a suspiciously low-priced item arriving at all.

The issue isn't cost.. its their using slave or forced labour to produce the products...
Is that something you want to support just to save a couple of dollars..
If temu and shein have nothing to hide, then they should fully divulge their logistics networks.. and write origins of products and shipping them according to the law of logistics.
Writing 'gifts' on a package to exploit shipping discounts, and avoid tariffs for a national e-commerce company is absolutely shameful.

There are no "private" companies in China, there are Chinese Communist Party cadres on every company board. These goods are shipped directly from Chinese warehouses to US consumers with no taxes or tariffs. The CCP massively subsidizes these companies and a lot of the items are made with slave (Uyghurs) labor. The CCP has a strategy to flood our markets (2 million packages a day, est 200 billion a year added to our trade deficit) with subsidized good to destroy our manufacturing. They have done it with electronics, ship building, solar panels, battery's, etc. They are ready to flood world markets with $10,000 EVs. How stupid we were to raise De Minimus from $200 to $800 in 2016. Congress has a bill to fix this. Call your Congressman and demand it gets fixed. Amazon also benefits from the De Minimus loophole, they forgot they are an American company, so they will lobby Congress to leave the loophole.
