@@slavaoperator if they were going to do that it would be amazing if they actually showed the stormtroopers hit their shots and succed in their missions. It would be great. They are the backbone of the empire they need to be somewhat strong
If there's ever a Star Wars: Galactic Civil Wars tv series then this is an example of what I would like to see. Showing a character story from two perspective point of views, specifically from an Imperial and Rebel soldiers. This is an excellent film, bravo! 👏
Exactly, Stormtroopers have family, friends, and more. They’re not just worthless droids. Rebels get painted as good people and stormtrooper’s have their deaths pushed aside because they’re on the “bad” side.
This is why I liked the campaign of Squadrons. It shows both sides and the main imperial character doesn't end up switching sides. By the end of the story, I found myself rooting for the Empire and felt more of a bond with the Imperials more than the Rebellion/New Republic.
It dosent actually feel like starwars But its what starwars should or atleast could have been Showing both side perspective is rare these days because they needed one side to be completely evil to justify the "goodguys" action
Well it doesn't feel like George Lucas's star wars. He always said it was simply good Vs evil, which is totally different to what we see here. But that's a good thing imo, I wish official star wars would delve more into this side of things like rogue one did (meaning the rebels aren't just boy scout heros).
This is everything starwars has been missing. The gritty real life stories of the boots on the ground. I dont wanna hear about some special chosen one who was meant to win or lose. I want uncertainty and depth of character. Mourning, sadness, exhilaration. These are some of the traits that will make an astounding starwars opera.
Most media isn't good at that. Take Gundam as an example. They keep bringing in newtype after newtype crap while their best rated and most watched show was still 8th MS Team, that had no newtypes and was on the ground for the one year war.
The moment when that stormtrooper took off his helmet, was the best part. The stormtroopers aren’t clones, or processed, brainwashed, or whatever, they’re people, actual people who were drafted and trained to fight for what they were told was right.
@Alex I’m pretty sure that was the whole point of the clones. And the clone wars in general. Really the clone wars was nothing more than a diversion so the Jedi would be so focused in battle they would be easily destroyed. Clones were made for that one reason, fight side by side, kill the Jedi, then be disposed of.
Yes! That annoyed me so much with Battlefront 2. I thought Iden’s character was great, pretty cliche, but it was still cool, and then she turned sides and I instantly hated her character.
Love the fact that your diving deeper into the people of the empire. They’re not all just bucket heads. They have beliefs too, and the rebels aren’t all good either. This was a masterpiece of work and the story behind it was great too. The only thing that was a little awkward was the mouth movement but I’m sure your work is extremely difficult and in the end it still looked great! But all in all seriousness, I would give this work a 9/10, absolutely amazing! Keep up the great work!
How so? The Deathstar was a legitimate target to destroy. It's a super weapon, they had every right and reason to attack and destroy it. I think Liam focussed on the wrong arguments that someone in his position would argue however.
@@Sujad I never said the Death Star wasn’t a legitimate target. But we’re not focusing on war generals here, we’re focusing on basic soldiers who have family and friends on those stations/planets. So of course the troops who had ties to people on the Death Star ware going to be angry, and people who had ties to people on Alderan are going to be angry. It’s the regular people’s opinions and what Liam is trying to show is that both sides of the war are regular people with their own beliefs. Not generals nit picking what’s a good target or not.
@@Sujad Correct, It was technically a military target - however due to the amount of non-military personnel that was stationed there who had perished in addition to the combat personnel. Many of whom were civilian contractors. Liam would have came from somewhere that likely benefitted from or was less impacted by the Empire. Areas where the Republic had neglected or completely allowed to degrade while the war effort was focused on core systems and defending existing territory. As he mentioned as well, not every Imperial agreed with the methods of fighting the Rebellion (especially the decimation of entire planets) as it only drove more people to join the Alliance including some Imperials. But also, many Imperial joined because they wanted to avoid a repeat of the conditions that lead to the Clone Wars but also the death of so many people who they believed deserved to leave equally in peace and saw the flaws of the Grand Republic including the corruption that made it so bad and allowed the conflict to escalate and expand across the systems. Some certainly joined because they just wanted money and didn't care about the ethics of any of it- that goes for both factions. It's easier to deny the humanity of your enemy when you refuse to identify that they are human too, they are just different in ideological stand points or conditions that pushed them to join that faction - the armor makes troopers look like robots and no one sees them without helmets so it's far easier to kill them and never think twice about it.
I wish Star Wars Stormtroopers we’re like this. Stormtroopers have family, friends, and more. They’re not just worthless droids. Rebels get painted as good people and stormtrooper’s have their deaths pushed aside because they’re on the “bad” side.
Rebels and Clone Wars touched on this a time or two... it's a great point, I never liked the meme of "everyone in the imperial military is a mindless robot death machine". Lots of the Rebellion's finest were originally Imperial Military...
@@murphyrutledge5590 well, some joined because there wasn’t a good job for them other than joining the army. Or they have a personal grudge against the rebels, the rebels did kill civilians in the comics. Don’t forget that.

@@alexander.tahtadjian No, the Empire is evil and the Rebellion is good. Just because there are good Imperials and bad Rebels doesn't change that. The leadership and what they ultimately stand for is what matters. How what they do affects the Galaxy as a whole. It's telling that almost every "good Imperial" story ends with them becoming a Rebel. That any movement within the Empire to become good is a failure. Because their side is evil and the Rebellion is good.
@@alexander.tahtadjian I mean. . . The Empire is literally led by a power-hungry and objectively evil Emperor. An Emperor who murdered his own family in cold blood (in Legends) and started a bloody galactic civil war just so he could become an Emperor. He executed all of the Jedi, *including* children. The Empire is openly racist *and* 100% fascist (it was literally modeled after Nazi Germany lol). They used slave-labour, murdered billions of innocent civilians, used fear to keep their people in line. . . None of that is good. What good did they do for the galaxy? Lowered piracy? Made more jobs? That definitely justifies all of the evil shit they did, right? I mean sure, the Rebels did some bad things too. In comparison to the Empire though, the Rebellion is a shining paragon of morality. Just because many good people worked for the Empire doesn't mean it's suddenly absolved all of the crimes it committed against the people of the Galaxy.

Imagine if we got stormtroopers like this in Star Wars Rebels, would’ve given that show more depth in regards to showing the imperial side. Only one you can truly sympathize with is Kallus, whereas the Stormtroopers themselves are treated like jokes and given no defining qualities. But ultimately the goal of Rebels was just the formation of the Rebellion, so to that degree I could understand why the imperial side wasn’t humanized. Aside from the odd mouth movements, the animation was very well done and at times felt like real people were filmed, like the stormtroopers at target practice.
Eh...I'd argue you could make a case for Thrawn too. Sure, he was a villain through and through, and was as ruthless as any other Imperial when the chips were down (albeit he was a pragmatist surrounded by sadists), but he represented THE model Imperial officer, the kind of leader that everybody in the Empire should have aspired to become. One could only imagine what the Empire would have ended up like if, somehow, Palpatine had died and he ended up in charge of it (or if Palpatine’s succesor had tasked Thrawn with developing a replacement for the Tarkin Doctrine after recognizing its flaws). Maybe the Galactic Civil War would never have happened - a rebellion of some sort would have still occurred, but it would've remained dispersed between isolated cells and never have grown into a large militarized force with a coherent, unified goal.
@@z3r0_35 indeed you are correct, Thrawn is a man of principle, but when the situation demands it, he gets the job done. Thrawns only weakness was unpredictable occurrences such as the Force, which led to Ezra Bridger planning ahead by using the Hyperspace Whales which led to his defeat. Effectively taking out the Empires greatest strategist.
the stormtroopers are a lot more human than the guys not wearing helmets! this is the treatment Finn should have been given. I also love how everyone talks about their differences. I wish people would talk wars out like this.
It's not about hating the guy on the other side because someone told you to. I mean, you should hate someone because they're an asshole, or a pervert, or snob, or they're lazy, or arrogant or an idiot or know-it-all. Those are reasons to dislike somebody. You don't hate a person because someone told you to. You have to learn to despise people on a personal level. And you can't stand them, because they're a complete and total fucking douchebag. - Leonard Church

@@IpostedaCoDvideoonce the clone wars and the separatist rebellion happened before the fall of the the republic and the rise of the empire. What are you on about?
Having stormtroopers be disposable and stupid worked for the original SW - the pace of that film is lightning fast, and the stormtroopers being faceless goons helped speed things along. Still, I think it's time the series moved on from that.
I literally got chills watching this. Incredible story telling, I don't even know names but instantly was drawn into sympathy for both men. Not everyone following orders is evil on either side...and they may not always share the same views. But one thing they all have in common is the pain of losing someone or something. This was awesome! Please keep the untold stories coming!
They will never tell any stories like this I swear. They need to realize that there is a market for Imperial-orientated stories, as well as stories that don't involve any Force shenanigan's. This is amazing, and I also love the Deggial Nox Stormtrooper Models, they are so HD.
Well isn’t this thought provoking. In all seriousness though, you are simply incredible Loacher Films. Keeping star wars alive in my heart so thank you
In modern war, many times the people killing each other are people who either wanted to honorably serve their country or who were forced to. There are many documented stories where enemies met each other and realized they weren’t all the monsters that they made each other out to be.
I've been saying for years there are real stories to be told with stormtroopers. How are they conscripted, what their training is like, friends and losses in battle. They looked like they were finally going to develop this with Finn and blew it. He could have created a fifth column in the Empire among troopers he knew. They could have captured and tried to recondition him and we could have seen that process. So much material for real stories. Keep up the work! As a fan at least someone seems to get it!
Allegiance is a very good book. Legends material bit it shows a squad who disagrees with the ISB and the higher ups on how to do operations and struck out on their own. Vader almost had them killed but due to them helping Mara, as she was the Hand at the time, she was able to get the spared. They did a lot of good too, broke up a pirate band that was wasn't trying to make the sector into a freehold
This gave me clone wars vibes. The politics behind the story line is so close to what the clone wars did. Both side wanting peace but having the issue of those above them controlling what happens. I really enjoyed it.
I find politics storyline in clone wars gave more meanings to the wars they're fighting than just good vs bad generic trope they're using in original trilogy and disney sequel
I love the fact that this story puts more depth, more humanization, more love to the stormtroopers as a whole. They’re i with families, friends, lovers even and I believe if Star Wars makes a story about stormtroopers, it’d be a loyal trooper like this guy who believes in what he’s doing is the right thing.
Closest thing the official movies ever got to this was Rogue one, with rebels killing each other to not get caught and whatnot. Less black/white, good/bad in Star Wars is always nice.
@@501ststormtrooper9 I suppose it's the Taoist version of a moral black and white. The light side was originally based off Taoism, I think, cuz the Taoists think that worldly attachment and passion will hold you back from enlightenment. Anyway, I agree that the Jedi can be d*cks, but are there any examples of the sith being good guys? If not, then does that mean it IS "black and white" in that aspect?
I love the perspectives from this, the title fits so perfectly. The fact that there are just two sides, you choose one and the other is "my enemy" now without truly knowing the people under the helmets.
"Because I believe a sensible trooper like you can help us get closer to peace." That one got me cryin'! This film changed my point of view towards the Empire and all it's innocent people. This film has to be watched by rebel fans! Thanks!
Most Stormtrooper shenanigans take place in the Outter Rim. Our real world equivalency is when the US bombs the fuck out of someone in the Middle East/Africa. The parallels aren't that far off tbh. A nuclear missile and the Death Star are essentially the same thing.
I’m glad a movie like this was made. About a stormtrooper that thinks for himself and just wants what is best for everyone but that isn’t in the rebellion well done!
@@solucaoatende Keep in mind the galaxy was in a state of chaos because of the Clone Wars and the Empire brought stability and safety where the Republic failed to do so. Albeit using oppressive means to do so. The Empire isn't necessarily good, but not all the people in it are bad.
@Wild Summit I agree the whole defection ordeal that happens is tiring. There needs to more depth to the most iconic bad guys in cinema. They are dedicated to what they do and they need more recognition for it and not have them be so damn watered down to be faceless goons lacking individuality and be completely ineffective at being threatening. Having a variety of perspectives is nice, we need more of that. But of course Disney already has a plan set in stone.
@@ramblinnernd5905 But then you run into the problem of false equivalences. The Empire’s cause is just… wrong. Despite being run by the galaxy’s most powerful manipulator with full autocratic control, it just refuses to be a force for good. It’s like it’s actively fighting against it, while the Rebellion at least gives it a fighting chance. The Empire *could* easily outdo the Republic in delivering a better galaxy for everyone, it just chooses not to. No wonder a bunch of former CIS systems joined the rebels, nothing has changed.
You’ve demonstrated not only a keen understanding of the storytelling process, but a fundamental grasp of what embodies Star Wars and how it’s stories are told. With these qualities combined, we get not just a Star Wars story, but a Loacher Films Star Wars story. Outstanding work!
Man, I love stuff like this, showing that both the Rebellion and the Empire were more than just good and bad. I know Rogue One and Rebels showed more of the dark side of the Rebellion, showing that they had members who were willing to go to extremes to get the job done (assassinations, bombings, more terroristic actions) and even just some people who enjoyed conflict, but we so rarely get to see the Imperial side, the soldiers who don't entirely agree with certain orders, but still think that it is the best option for the galaxy after all then turmoil during the waning years of the Republic. There is a two sides to every story and we don't always listen to both sides, so I just got to say, well done.
The honor, the respect, when all of that is gone in war, small parts like this hits you in the heart. Not everything have to be killing, just understanding. That's rare, I wish it was more often like this.
It’s funny how some fans could create a 16 minute story on how a stormtrooper feels about being in empire than three movies and a six hour campaign game.
@@mcgiver1327 I feel like the main lead defected to quickly and we didn’t get to see that much of the empires side as it turned generic. I felt the campaign would have been great if it didn’t turn generic

Good job! Humanizing a storm trooper, making him a flesh-n-blood human made this story a lot more interesting. Sharing their loss, both the trooper and the rebel were able to empathize for the other. Brilliant.
This was spectacular. The animations were complex, realistic even though a bit stiff sometimes, the story and attack was wonderfully created. A short, little movie that still impacted hard on fan's feelings, showing how war is never good vs bad, like the kids we were needed to understand watching the movies back then, but that everyone has a different point of view, believes, feelings and losses. Then, to coronate this little masterpiece, me and the rebel saying at the very same time, just by feeling it, "may the Force be with you". Always
Top comment, and the relationship between soldiers in general is well documented in both ww1 and ww2. Besides that we also have the soldier vs civilian connection in war. I probably have family on Island as my father had his leave there during ww2. Found a picture of a beautiful Icelandic woman in his album lol.
"They push-we push. Every once in a while, we push hard enough that the light breaks through the clouds... so the world beyond the war glimmers... just out of reach."

More like they wouldnt show the perspective of each side Showing only one good and one bad The leader might be corrupt but in the end the troops on the ground fought for which they think is right

That isn't the point. The point is that of those ON the Death Star, like those ON Alderaan, only a handful were involved in any of what happened. Tarkin gave an order, one dude relayed it, and a few powered up the cannon and aimed. What did janitor Steve down on Deck Forty Two and is wife, Sarah, or Tom and Brady, their sons, have to do with it? Nothing at all. Hell, what did the third shift gunner in the exact position Tarkin's shooter was later on do? Nothing. They all died, though. That is the point. Aside from the Emperor and his direct circle, most Imperials were just people doing their jobs, trying to do what they THOUGHT was right. Hell, the Empire was many's first taste of real peace after the Clone Wars. It's easy for us to judge from the outside perspective, knowing the Clone Wars and the Civil War as near omnisciently as we do. But some twenty something from a world that was covered in war for most of his youth until the Empire ended it? He doesn't see that. he sees a lack of blaster bolts, and an Imperial flag.

@@burgerpb5476 Very true. Emperor Palpatine did have control over a WHOLE galaxy, so he would probably more likely introduce Plastoid armour, that was cheap, than expensive Beskar armour. And he needed to do that fast to insure peace and order.
Beskar's also unique to ONE planet, and the locals don't like parting with it except on their own terms - and they retain the secrets of how to even shape the stuff.
That’s was addressed by Kevin smith in the movie clerks, it really isn’t talked about how while the empire really was evil, and how the rebellion was better, there were a lot of similarities such as some of the militaristic things that they both do, (the unnatural kind). It’s also not talked about how the rebellion probably killed tons of innocent prisoners, pow’s, non empire loyal construction workers and people like that, definitely even more on the second one since it was still under construction. You are a true Star Wars fan and I beg you to continue making films like this, (the goofy ones are fine but the ones that even could be considered canon like this one are amazing).
The only thing I have against that whole "but you killed so many when you destroyed the death star argument" is that that space station with hundreds of thousands on it had just recently been used to destroy a planet with billions on it. It's not like they just went after the death star for no reason, something like that existing with the threat of it being used again was just too great a threat even if hundreds of thousands had to die to end it.
@Alex The Empire was evil. Emperor Palpatine literally formed the Empire through sheer will, and a metric ton of evil intent. Its top leaders were all evil or self-serving enough to look the other way for political gain. There is no redeeming qualities for the Empire, at the highest levels. Tarkin, especially, instituted horrible policies and championed the use of the Death Star as a weapon of mass destruction/murder. Its only once you get to the lower levels, that the individuals of the Empire could actually be 'neutral' or good. They were either blind to the evil that directed them or had no ability to change it and went along out of fear or because it was 'the way things were'. Claiming the Rebellion is absurd is equally false, as the Rebellion was created as a direct reaction to Palpatine's evil and the usurpation of the Republic. The Rebellion was formed by some of the few remaining morally intact individuals, of the time. Senators Organa, Mon Mothma, among a select few others.

Me: Disney, why can’t we just have a story like this where we actually see where the other side’s coming from? Disney: But then you’d feel bad for them when they’re ruthlessly killed on Rebels & Mandalorian.
@@howdoichangemyusername9802 I mean looking at star wars lore, many stormtroopers did it because they had to feed their families and frankly being an expendable frontline soldier in the Galactic Empire was a job that paid the bills. Millions of planets were dirt poor, and sometimes the only option was to join the army. And like the stormtrooper did say they brought (somewhat) of stability and order into the galaxy. Once the empire fell everything fell into disarray as the New Republic tried to rebuild the galaxy. Many planetary systems just said fuck it and fell in to anarchy and lawlessness because there was no law enforcement offered by the empire etc. For example in Tatooine many areas got taken over by criminal gangs, and life as a citizen became unbearable. Of course the Empire had a way of oppressing and murdering innocents, but it's not to say the rebels didn't do the same but on a smaller scale. Life under empire rule was for the common being propably not much different from life under the republic rule. It's not like the republic was that much better anyways. Im not defending the bad shit the Empire does , but i kind of see the point where they are coming from.

@Alex I’m pretty sure that was the whole point of the clones. And the clone wars in general. Really the clone wars was nothing more than a diversion so the Jedi would be so focused in battle they would be easily destroyed. How so? The Deathstar was a legitimate target to destroy. It's a super weapon, they had every right and reason to attack and destroy it. I think Liam focussed on the wrong arguments that someone in his position would argue however.
@@Sujad it was like a reverse alderan a lot of people died either way
@@Sujad I never said the Death Star wasn’t a legitimate target.
All fascists deserve is a bullet to the head. This holds true in Star War too.

This has more character and story development than the newer trilogies. I am invested and would like to see these two characters again. Please.
I would love a follow up sequel where they meet again on the battlefield and are forced to make choices when both are armed.
This is brilliant. Hollywood and George would never have told this story, this is real cost of war, All the lives lost just for those in power. Thank God you told this story, I wish it was viewed by more people?
Pretty sure the cost of war been shown multiple times

I love how much this humanises the Empire. You never see this in the movies or shows.
You kind of see that in Mandalorian s2
History is written by the victors. Let’s face it, we only have the word of George Lucas that the Empire was evil yet they did seek to bring stability to the galaxy which the Republic had singularly failed to do.

I really liked that last moment they shared together, how kind it was. Because in the end, they're all just people.

How the hell 16 minutes movie got more compelling story and characters than entire sequel trilogy. Amazing how SW universe could still be a thrilling place despite Disney's best efforts.
The scene in 4:42 really shocked me, because it showed that the Stormtroopers inside their armour just melted and got vaporized by the explosion.
Yeah, it’s sad to think that the troopers probably wanted to put up a fight, only to be vaporized by a proton torpedo, in which they could do nothing about
plastiod armor isnt strong, it is more for emvoroment and smaller stuff. If you want to stop a blaster bolt, beskar or dura-steal helps. None of those help with a plasma explosion, and armor has gaps
Betaplast and gammaplast help, but…yeah, you’re still fucked
@@burgerpb5476 Very true. Emperor Palpatine did have control over a WHOLE galaxy, so he would probably more likely introduce Plastoid armour, that was cheap, than expensive Beskar armour. And he needed to do that fast to insure peace and order.
Beskar's also unique to ONE planet, and the locals don't like parting with it except on their own terms - and they retain the secrets of how to even shape the stuff.
This was good showed both sides as People. Men fighting for what they believe. Well Done.

It's funny cause on clerks 2 asokha is in that movie rosia dawnson she so hot.
@Alex there may be morally good people who serve the empire but it is inherently evil to its core.
Senators Organa, Mon Mothma, among a select few others.

i like the duality of this story, how it switches between the rebels and the empire, and allows the viewer to empathize with both
Love the production value. The animation looks really clean and the voice acting is great. Wish Lucas Films would have more grounded stories like this. As much as I'm sure everyone loves the big good vs evil stories we get in the movies I think these kinds of stories are more interesting. Please keep up the great work.

@@howdoichangemyusername9802 ur sus
@@Tuklom how exactly?
Then from the perspective of the common supporter of the Empire those rebels were just scum who were murdering innocent people trying to keep order in the galaxy. Everything is not so black and white in Star Wars as it is painted out to be!
@@howdoichangemyusername9802 It wasnt just the point of my comment. My point was that not every stormtrooper was bad lol. I just tried pointing It out by pointing reasons to as why people became them.

There are heroes/good people on each side of every war, following orders and doing what they believe is right for their people and their country. They don't always agree with decisions made by their leaders, but they stay loyal to their people. You can clearly see that these are two good men on opposite sides of the conflict.
