I see John was set to piss off his neighbors this Saturday.
Much better. Less likely to get flipped off with little asian horns :)
Excellent video comparison and good sound recording. I get a realistic idea of how the Hellas sound. I did not realize at first that Hella made these trumpets vs the super tones. The trumpet sound much better in my opinion with a lower tone and not like cheap import beep sounds.
The Hella horns sound a lot like the factory AC Delco you'd get from GM in terms of tone. Not sure how that compares in loudness though.
Did some price checks... Interesting, the Hella is something like $20 cheaper than AC Delco on average for the comparable models.
I always cut the stock connectors off the horns and continue to use those as a ready made hookup. If they are saveable that is
The factory horn on my beloved 2009 Lexus RX 350 sounds like a toy when I blow it. No one seems to hear it. Hell, I want to let people know they are toooo damn close! I need to do something!
I really liked how you gave us the side by side comparison at the end. My Rav4 has the same wimpy horn.
Thank you!
nice sounding ,the factory horns lack muscle. i/m buying a pair.thanks for the post
Same, helped me make my decision for sure
Good video ...I have a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek with a meep meep horn.
We installed OEM Dodge Ram horns....wow what a difference now.
Nice one for putting the horns in use next to each other on the video.
Leave both factory horns and Hella horns in the car for a commanding two tone blast. I would upsize the wires from the horn relay to handle the extra current draw of both sets of horns - 12 or 10 gauge stranded wire for louder sound. I once installed big truck air horns in my Dad's GMC pickup, he thought they were great "attention" getters. I have twin "oogah" horns in my GMC classic truck (a '79 Heavy Half), and they sound really cool. Modding your personal vehicle's horns adds more safety because they really get peoples attention. Just do not put diesel locomotive horns on your truck, they are waay too loud and may get the cop's attention - not a good thing.
longshorts3 Actually, the Hella Twin Trumpet Horns are two tones already. A high and a low (500 Hz and 400 Hz)
The original sounds like a mouse. Lol! Hella sounds like a man driving a Buick! 🤘🏻
Excellent comparison, thank you.
I love seeing someone enjoying Hella product on their vehicles. Thanks for the nice video and please let us know if you need anything!!
Have hella lights on my Jeep. They work great!
Nice horn and nice car! 👍
Hella much better
That's a Hella lot louder...
so where are the horns usually located on other cars
Usually in front of the radiator but they could be anywhere in the engine compartment.
Sounds manlier for sure. I pulled my dual horns from my Cadillac Fleetwood and put them in my little Chevy Sonic 🤣 Big boat horns on my dinky car.
You can get the horn connection adapters on eBay, no need to cut the original sockets.
got a link? Or what search term to use?

Sounds much better. Funny thing is they sound exactly like my stock Audi horns. I wonder if they are factory hella horns because it's a German car and Hella is German. Maybe that would be a cheap way to get some for Japanese cars. Find them at a German car auto wrecker.

Thank you for this video, very informative. Bet your neighbours loved you videoing this! 😂
I think stock horn is more hurting me than hella horn.
lot better
I have aftermarket and they blow fuses. I installed Cadillac horns on my Scion XB. Is that the problem? Thanks!
SonnyGTA If they are blowing fuses then you probably need to run a relay to power the horns and just use the original wait to signal the relay. However, if the Cadillac horns don’t blow the fuse than the probably pull less power. If they work and you like the sound, you’ll be fine.
NovaResource hey there! I appreciate the reply!!! Unfortunately your reply cut off and I can’t read the rest.
NovaResource I see a lot of comments that say Read More...but I am never able to read them!! 🙁
better
I just picked up a 15 Kia Forte. Got home and hit the lock twice and both me and my wife looked at each other laughed pretty good at that horn. Getting this installed ASAP. Thank you.
I own 2 Fortes. A 2011 hatchback and a 2012 Koup. Just to let you know, there are 2 horns in the Forte. One is the regular ‘steering wheel’ horn and one for the alarm. The regular horn is in the grille area while the alarm horn is usually in the engine compartment by the firewall.
This is a video of me installing Hella Supertones in my 2011 hatchback:

And this is a video of me replacing the Supertones with Hella Twin Trumpets:

I preferred the Twin Trumpets over the Supertones.
Sounds great! Much better than stock.
wow!!! at first it sounded perfect for a Smurf, it’s perfect for hello kitty now
Nicely shot and edited vid, thanks!
should have done a four note from an old caddy. sounds like a train.
Keep up the helpful work and producing in the group!
How many db have the hella horns? 120, 135?... tell uds
Tell us
The Twin Trumpets are 110 dB
I got 2 and they don't work 2018 Toyota tacoma!????
First try connecting them directly to the battery to make sure they work. If they do, they you wired something wrong. I don’t know the factory horn wiring for your Toyota is like. Either one hot wire and grounded through the mount or two wires, one hot and one ground.
Love it
How do you figure out positive and ground tabs on those horns?
It doesn’t matter. You can use either tabs for either + or - What I did was make sure to use the same tab on each for the same polarity.
NovaResource ahhh, ok. Thank you.
huge improvement for those as holes in the hammer lane that are texting and driving below the speed limit. Or texting and lane drifting. With some of the stock horns they cant even hear your horns
Could you invest in a $14 sound meter?
I could but since I made this video 6 years ago and I don’t have the factory horns anymore to use the sound meter on, it wouldn’t be very useful. As a matter of fact, I don’t even own that car any more so a $14 sound meter isn’t going to be much help. Plus, this change was about the tone of the horn note more than about the volume. But thanks for the suggestion.
Is it possible to just use two low-tone horns? Or would that not work, I was just wondering how to make the horn sound deeper and louder.
Manny P Yes, it is possible.
is a relay necessary? or will factory power from oem horn be fine
I’ve installed these horns in many cars. Some with a relay some without. Both ways worked fine and sounded the same.
@@NovaResource thanks bro appreciate it
which is better roots or hella wind
tone horns
that last final comparison really shows it.
Thx
awesome video! great comparison!
Much better
Why do Asian cars always have tiny dinky horns?
I've just bought a pair of these for my VW transporter ,,can't wait to see the differance
What’s that horn u using
It’s listed in the video title: Hella Twin Trumpet #7424801
Awesome video you answer my question.
Welldone video, short to the point thanks alot
Great presentation!
Did you use the factory wiring, or did you have to run a new circuit with a relay?
I’ve done this mod on 9 different cars. On 8 I just used the factory wiring. On one I purchased a wiring harness and used a relay. There was zero sound or volume difference between the two ways.
@@NovaResource thank you
nice
No need to install with relay?
On older cars where the horn was a direct wiring to the steering switch you should run a relay. Most modern cars already use a relay for the horn so there’s really no need for another one. But adding one won’t hurt either.
@@NovaResource does it change the result with or without the relay? i mean, does it affect the sound?
@@neometalx9 I’ve installed those horns on 7 different vehicles. 4 directly to the stock wiring with no new relay, 3 with aftermarket wiring and a relay. They all sound the same.
Best review I’ve watched on this topic.
Thank you
thank you for this video
Nice!
Did you use a relay?
Julhaizar Awab No, I did not use a relay with this setup. Just the factory wiring.
No, I did not use a relay on this setup. Just the factory wiring.
Thanks for the info. 👍👍👍
It just makes it sound like a bigger American car........not worth the trouble.....lol
That was the whole point. Asian car forms are weak and pathetic.
Production critique, your video is mostly succinct to the point which I appreciate. However, decide what you want to do. Show your audience the comparison, or how to swap horns out or the product for that particular car and dedicate the video to that that's my recommendation after all the car videos that I watch which is probably pushing into the thousands. thank you
Agreed. All the same, it's picked up 1/2mil views, most of us would kill for that.
Had a pair of these on a Pontiac Sunbird one time. When I traded it, the salesman asked where I got them, I told him in Germany. He believed me and said he knew that he never heard any made in the USA.
