@@parissmith5727 When I first played the Souls games I found that locking on to bosses resulted in "camera chaos"... so I quickly learned that not locking on unless I was using a projectile to be the way to go.
Hey Joe, this was a great episode of GameSack! I learned FromSoftware developed 3D Dot Game Heroes specifically from this video, which was really neat! If you ever make a part 2 on the ps3, I’d love to hear you possibly talk about some of the following games: 1.) Folklore (exclusive) 2.) Enchanted Arms (non-exclusive, but weirdly interesting) 3.) Drakengard 3 (exclusive) 4.) Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire (exclusive) 5.) Starhawk (exclusive, not to be confused with WARhawk).
Funny how i did the same gametrough with Uncharted 2. I finish that game 7 times on ps3 (2 on PS4) on every difficulty. One of my favorites games of all time.
Bought mine just for the Blu Ray as well. Bought The Last of Us and couldn't finish it, then used it as a media player until I got a silent Fire Stick. I still have it as it's my lone Blu Ray player except for the optical drive in my PC.
The PS3 is what got me back into gaming back in 2015. Picked one up for $60 locally to play whilst looking after my son. Might have to get it back out to play some of these games again :D

Always loved the insanity behind that one!
One of *thee* best racing games ever, my fave PS3 title and, furthermore, the reason I still hold onto my PS3 due to (Motorstorm series) remaining exclusive to the console. Would love a Higher Def Trilogy? 🤷♂️
Man, I just hooked up my PS3 again after a long hiatus. Right as I was wondering if Game Sack had covered the PS3, I see this in my recommended vids. Couldn't have been better timing
Just goes to show how little things have evolved in the gaming space over time. We went from the SNES to the PS3 being a 15 year period, then the PS3 to the PS5 being a 15 year period, and the only difference now is that the HD is slightly higher resolution.
I love the PlayStation 3, it’s become one of my favorite systems and I love collecting for it to the point that I decided I’m going for a complete set (not counting NBA Elite 11). Thank You for this retrospective Joe. My favorite PS3 Games are Tales of Xillia Ni no Kuni Dragons Crown Nier Uncharted Series NBA Jam (2010) Lollipop Chainsaw
Modnation Racers was amazing. Same guys that did LBP Kart. It had a suite of tools to create your own track that was fun and intuitive(unlike LBP). I had a blast with character creation also. I remember racing against Homer Simpson in The General Lee. I had my own Conan O'brian rocket ship and Partridge Family bus. I even re-made a few Mario Kart SNES tracks using the editor.
Folklore, Resistance, Killzone & Rain were great games. As much as I LOVE my PS3 I had a 360 throughout the generation so it wasn't til much later that I finally got a PS3. Its was the 360 that got me into collecting games really & am at 588 Xbox 360 games so far.
So when Game Sack first started the PS3 was the current console for Sony. That is crazy that this channel has been around long enough to see a console go from current to retro.
Damn dude, you should really try Motorstorm Pacific Rift, its such a huge improvement over the first game and its easily one of the best racers on the PS3. It was one of my favourite games back in the Ps3 heyday.

Truly the last great console. Great games, could have hundreds of games installed at once without running out of space, backwards compatible and didn't need to be constantly online to use!
That's an iffy assessment as it was the first console built from the ground up to support DRM based on the system's world clock. DVDs, blu-rays, physical games, downloaded movies, and downloaded games will eventually stop working when two things happen: Sony decides to close the webgate, and the console's CMOS battery dies. The PS4 and presumably the PS5 (perhaps already proven but I stopped following the story) are also like this.
@@parissmith5727 no, not true. its been proven your physical games will still work. do some digging up on it for yourself. ps4 is different to where yes your physicals wont work anymore. its a useless console basically
Ah Motorstorm. Fond memories of trying that one out back to back with Nintendo's ExciteTruck at a GameStop kiosk. Needless to say...I went with the Wii that holiday.
Favorite console, hurts that this is vintage now. This is where I stopped caring about new systems, got the PS4 and just wasn't the same. I miss home and folding!
PS1 and PS2 are my favorite Sony console eras. Nothing feels nearly as exciting anymore that's for sure. Only game I currently care about Is Elden Ring.

So no ps4 was not better in my opinion, you are entitled to yours, but they are opinions after all!
I jumped ship from X360 to PS3 around the time Uncharted 2 came out. Out of all my retro consoles, my PS3 collection is the largest and there’s a bunch of games there I’ve hardly played. Maybe one day I’ll get around to playing them.
Man, I love you covered so many lightgun games. I have a Sinden Lightgun that works with modern TVs, but play mostly arcades from previous generation. I have to put time into setting up the gun with those PS3 games, they look great.
I think that generation of consoles was the last generation where the upgrade in systems really looked like a definite upgrade from the one before, after that, it all really looked the same, thus it's the one I stopped at.
Yeah I miss Halo 3 on the 360 because it was great and didn't need battlepass to unlock things now Halo 3 on MCC on Xbox One, PC and Series X has way too much content that takes forever to unlock and half of it sucks.
For me the last console that really made me go "wow" was a Sega Dreamcast back in 1999. It was such a massive upgrade over PS1 visually. After it, the PS2 felt really underwhelming and just more of the same. PS3 was like an HD PS2. I still loved my ps3 for some great games (Fallout 3, Demon's Souls, etc.) and streamlined online capabilities(COD multiplayer), it was fun. PS4, PS5 though.. nothing really too memorable
That Puppeteer game is going up in price so would suggest getting it on PSN before you can't get it. I liked the look of the game so just going by your recommendation Joe!
The PS3 is my newest console. I played games from the 8-bit days up until around 2008. PS3 was current then, but I didn't have one. I went low tech traveling up until about 2019 when I started to get back into retro gaming. I acquired a PS3 around Christmas last year (2020). Games are dirt cheap right now, I got most of the must-plays for less than $10 each. Good times!
Besides handhelds, this is actually some of the more recent games ive watched being played lol. I wonder how a ps5 game would look irl to me. Will it look like if its real?
PS3 and 360 were both fantastic consoles and we got absolutely spoiled with amazing games. Also, HotD Overkill deserves more love. I hardly ever meet anyone who played it. It was one of the only games I ever enjoyed on the Wii, and it's an absolute blast to play drunk co-op. Even my girlfriend loved it.
29:53 Ebert actually rescinded this comment pretty quick when someone recommended him to play Shadow of the Colossus, and admitted he was presumptuous with his claim.
The PS3 is the console that I have the biggest sweet spot for. It's the first console I ever bought with my own money at launch. I worked SO much to be able to afford the 60gb model at launch while in college. I played my PS3 from beginning to end. The very first game I played was the Motorstorm demo. Then I got Resistance and Call of Duty 3. Shortly after I bought Elder Scrolls Oblivion and I played that for a couple hundred hours. The last game I bought at release was The Last of Us. I came back to the PS3 as a collector many years later and now own a few hundred games.

Was playing Tekken 6 on my PS3 earlier today.
Just have to send the love once again. Thanks Joe for ll these great vids. I watch at least 10 video game RUclipsrs and Gamesack is #1, #1, #1. Please keep it up!
I got pumped when I saw 3D Dot Heroes come up and then had to remind myself that Game Sack is where I originally learned about the game. I then calmed down.
PS3 was the first console i bought, having grown up with PC. It brought me so many hours of enjoyment, and I bought more than 70 games for it between 2008 and 2013. Still my favorite console to this day
Did Joe just play through all of Demon's Souls without locking on to a single enemy? If so then that is pretty impressive.
Pro gamer move. I think the AI in the Souls games uses the player locking on to improve their tracking. A lot of bosses are easier if you don't lock on, I've found.
@@parissmith5727 When I first played the Souls games I found that locking on to bosses resulted in "camera chaos"... so I quickly learned that not locking on unless I was using a projectile to be the way to go.
That "Japanese History - Giant Enemy Crab" is just hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
Hey Joe, this was a great episode of GameSack! I learned FromSoftware developed 3D Dot Game Heroes specifically from this video, which was really neat!
If you ever make a part 2 on the ps3, I’d love to hear you possibly talk about some of the following games:
1.) Folklore (exclusive)
2.) Enchanted Arms (non-exclusive, but weirdly interesting)
3.) Drakengard 3 (exclusive)
4.) Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire (exclusive)
5.) Starhawk (exclusive, not to be confused with WARhawk).
Funny how i did the same gametrough with Uncharted 2. I finish that game 7 times on ps3 (2 on PS4) on every difficulty. One of my favorites games of all time.
I still use mine every day as a blu ray player. Great video as always!
MGS4 had all uncompressed audio? No wonder it made my apartment sound like a war zone.
Playing it on a surround system is brutal
Your neighbours must love that! :)
2:57 @Game Sack FYI the Xbox 360 could output 1080p via component and VGA well before HDMI was added 🤷🏻♂️
I liked the skit where Joe is promoting anti-balding remedy.
Nice one, Joe!
Glad to see Time Crisis here! I still play it every now and then!
I've just got back into collecting for it, amazing system!
Fat old one is the daddy, I had one for years but my flat burnt down :( Nothing survived, and I bought a PC so went away from consoles. But shit man PS2 blew me away then PS3 literally demolished my sensibilities :D
The little big planet startup music is so nostalgic
Well added that time crisis collection to my wishlist.
Same.
I remember taking my PS3 to a friend’s house, as he had just bought a 42” Panasonic plasma TV.
Heavenly Sword had us hooked for a solid weekend.
This is one of the moments again where I REALLY feel old
I have the super-slim...still makes for a really good quality bluray disc player!
Half-Life Orange Box was a good compilation, the Batman games, a few of the James Bond games were well done, and an old favourite from the pc first-person shooter: Painkiller! Always loved the insanity behind that one!
just know that motorstorm pacific rift is an improvement over the original in every single way
One of *thee* best racing games ever, my fave PS3 title and, furthermore, the reason I still hold onto my PS3 due to (Motorstorm series) remaining exclusive to the console. Would love a Higher Def Trilogy? 🤷♂️
Thought the same. Pacific Rift was astoundingly good!
@@NeoGeoNinja81 I believe there is a Motostorm game on PsP and Ps2, but I get what you meant
@@josecabre1 arctic edge is also super good, i'm not ashamed to say that it's on the same level as pacific rift
@@josecabre1 There was no Motorstorm game for PS2.
Man, I just hooked up my PS3 again after a long hiatus. Right as I was wondering if Game Sack had covered the PS3, I see this in my recommended vids. Couldn't have been better timing
The time between now the PS3's launch is LESS time between the release of Wolfenstein 3D and Resistance 1. I feel old
Resistance: Fall of man. A classic that was only bettered by Resistance 2.
Goes to show though the generations that were fortunate to live during those times saw great evolutions in gaming
Just goes to show how little things have evolved in the gaming space over time. We went from the SNES to the PS3 being a 15 year period, then the PS3 to the PS5 being a 15 year period, and the only difference now is that the HD is slightly higher resolution.
Good work! I just like the simple and spontaneous approach of your reviews. Refreshing in this day and age.
I love the PlayStation 3, it’s become one of my favorite systems and I love collecting for it to the point that I decided I’m going for a complete set (not counting NBA Elite 11). Thank You for this retrospective Joe.
My favorite PS3 Games are
Tales of Xillia
Ni no Kuni
Dragons Crown
Nier
Uncharted Series
NBA Jam (2010)
Lollipop Chainsaw
NI NO KUNI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joe didn’t mention Resistance: Fall of Man. For me was a great game, but his disdain of FPS games is self explanatory.
Folklore, Resistance, Killzone & Rain were great games. As much as I LOVE my PS3 I had a 360 throughout the generation so it wasn't til much later that I finally got a PS3. Its was the 360 that got me into collecting games really & am at 588 Xbox 360 games so far.
2 am Upload ! I was about to go to sleep and not I can't ... ugh! 🤣🤘 Thanks for having one of the best retro channels I adore!
Every second Sunday at 2am for you minus time changes. Sometimes we get a bonus episode on the off weeks!
Love the ps3 so much,it's one of my favorite systems of all time and so glad I got one for Christmas back in 2006
"The Sony Playstation 3"
Oh shit, he's going to play it for this episode.
""I'm not going to cover the game you want me to cover just out of spite."
Oh damnit. lol
What game? I'm lost
@@JadedJester739 Probably The Last of Us
I still using my PS3 as my main multimedia system. Bluray, DVD, CD, youtube, Netflix, Amazon prime, Spotify... I don't need anything else
Man, the Shatter soundtrack is awesome.
Seconded.
I still listen to it, that bassline is so distinct
It really is fantastic, still firmly in my playlist too...
Everyday Shooter too.
Another solid episode of Game Sack. Thanks for the content and... humor.
Motorstorm 1 might have been just ok, but Pacific Rift & (especially) Apocalypse remain two of my favorite racers to this day.
“People back then just weren’t super smart like people now in the present “ 😂😂😂💯💯💯💯💯💯 I love your guy’s content !!
@@parissmith5727 lol no. my battery is dead and nothing happened
@@NicolaAcoust It's because Sony's network is still running and your system can still refresh its clock every time you boot it back up.
@@parissmith5727 no, not true. its been proven your physical games will still work. do some digging up on it for yourself. ps4 is different to where yes your physicals wont work anymore. its a useless console basically
i got over 100 games 100 movies a 1tb did wonders
This made me so nostalgic for my PS3 and the great library of games it has.
Thank you for the great video!
Ah Motorstorm. Fond memories of trying that one out back to back with Nintendo's ExciteTruck at a GameStop kiosk. Needless to say...I went with the Wii that holiday.
Ahh yes Gran Turismo 5, where you drive cars that sounds like Vacuum cleaners
Favorite console, hurts that this is vintage now. This is where I stopped caring about new systems, got the PS4 and just wasn't the same. I miss home and folding!
PS1 and PS2 are my favorite Sony console eras. Nothing feels nearly as exciting anymore that's for sure.
Only game I currently care about Is Elden Ring.
You're right it isn't the same, PS4 was way better
@@kicapanmanis1060 graphically sure, more power, but the innovations just not there, the come from behind victory isn't there, the plethora of exclusives was not nearly as big for ps4. vr was great, but ps3 had move, light guns and eye of judgement card game! So no ps4 was not better in my opinion, you are entitled to yours, but they are opinions after all!
@@fawkkyutuu8851 just getting back into ps2 and man does it still kick butt! Mr. Mosquito and atv offroad fury 2 are my go to games!
I jumped ship from X360 to PS3 around the time Uncharted 2 came out. Out of all my retro consoles, my PS3 collection is the largest and there’s a bunch of games there I’ve hardly played. Maybe one day I’ll get around to playing them.
I can't wait for the Wii U episode!
@@alex.starostin Never Forget 9/9/99 !!!
Joe I live for your sarcasm throughout the entire video, and occasional seriousness. Perfect combo for gamers lol.
That Puppeteer game is going up in price so would suggest getting it on PSN before you can't get it. I liked the look of the game so just going by your recommendation Joe!
Glad I bought it cheap lol.
"I had a hard time targeting enemies"
Of course Joe, you were playing with the largest sword, not using the locking on. Of course.
Pretty impressive if he did beat the game never using lock on. Ive beaten all the souls games and even i would have hard time with that.
@@adonizi well, if you use a claw grip it's quite easy to play "unlocked".
Joe here was just mashing, and badly lol
Been a fan for a long time and have watched every single one of y'alls videos. I appreciate your art work.
I just want a way to play Motorstorm again. I love that overhyped underdelivered tech demo.
Still had a lot of fun playing Motorstorm at my friend's house when he bought his PS3 at launch !
Joe is truly a Yuzo Koshiro fan when i heard Maximum Tune OST on Gran Turismo 5 segment
Joe, you talked about Demon's Souls, even after saying that you wouldn't out of spite. You keep us on our toes Joe!
He was probably talking to Resistance fans. 3 games in the ps3 and he didn't talk about any of them.
He made it so much harder for himself not pressing R3 to lock on to enemies lol.
Journey is my favorite game of all time. I just replayed it last Tuesday. I wish I could go back in time and experience it for the first time again.
29:53 Ebert actually rescinded this comment pretty quick when someone recommended him to play Shadow of the Colossus, and admitted he was presumptuous with his claim.
Well he was still dead wrong, and now he's just dead.
I came back to the PS3 as a collector many years later and now own a few hundred games.
did you ever play PShome® then launch multiplayer games with friends you met on Home?
@@GTR24 I played PS Home briefly but none of my friends were interested so I dropped it rather quickly.
