Exactly. Celtic is jsut a culture, jsut as Mediterranean is just a geographical concept. The Italic Mediterranean poeople were closer to the Celtic than to the Mediterranean people in North Africa. I don't like when they use cultural and gepgrahical terms in a genetic way, because it is missleading and just untrue. There was some Visigoth expansion west in the later Roman period due to pressure from warring Mongol hordes. The Visigoth were from places around Dacia and Romania and present day Bulgaria (the Eastern Provinces of the Western Roman Empire). I have heard some linguistic similarities between Castilian Spanish and Slavic Bulgarian. Uno Edno, Dos Dve, Tres Tri, Quatro Chetiri, in the number system as a quick example.
The visigoths were not a “ pure race group “ they were simply a confederation hodgepodge of peoples from different areas the base being germanic and the rest being sarmatians , dacians , thracians , prussians , slavs , baltic peoples etc. its even documented that roman slaves and other roman natives joined them . they were joined by many other nearby tribes where they settled next to and eventually assimilated them into their gothic group and culture. You can see some evidence on this online the slavs carry haplogroup r1a which is found in eastern europe mainly but is found in pockets throughout the iberian peninsula especially where the goths took refuge the most . And haplogroup r1a prior to the goths was not native to the Iberian peninsula.

I love your videos. However, I have a request. I am Egyptian and I loved the video that you made about Egypt. I would love and appreciate if you made a long video about the Egyptian race/ ethnicity. There is a systematic attack on Egyptians where African Americans accuse us (Egyptians) of stealing their land and that we are invaders and intruders and that our civilization does not belong to us. This is all fueled by the Afrocentric ideology and the pseudo-historians like (Cheikh Anta Diop). This ideology clams that all of the North African civilizations belongs to the Blacks (the sub-Saharan Africans). They claim that we are not Africans because we do not fit to the sub-Saharan facial features. Jada Pinket smith who is an afrocentrist made a movie depicting Cleopatra as African with sub-Saharan features. African Americans see the world in such binary view. Egyptians are not white and not sub-Saharan black either. Even Egyptians with the darkest of tones don't share the same facial features with sub-Saharan Africans. There is a spectrum of skin tones in Egypt that ranges from Mediterranean light skin to champagne and olive skin tones to that reddish brown (that was depicted on the temples) to the dark brown. My father was brown (and can be considered as black in the American eyes) and my mother is light skinned like the Mediterranean people. The sad reality is that the Afrocentric movement is claiming all the North African civilizations to be black. Not just Egypt. Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morrocco are black civilizations. And the people who live in those counties now are thieves and intruders. This Ideology spread like wildfire by those fake historians and a lot of African Americans and Sub-Saharan west Africans now believe in it. It's insane. They claim that we pushed them out of the country and that the whole ancient Egyptian civilization is not ours. It would be great if you made a video about Afrocentrism and this topic. Thanks again for your videos. Wish you the best.

There is not a 10% admixture with north Africans: about 5% of the Spanish male lineages have north African origin, but that doesn't equate to 5% north African DNA either (which could be almost nil in fact, since less common DNA tends to dissapear after several generations). You are going to find more Iberian ancestry in north Africa than north African ancestry in Spain as well, because Iberian Muslims fled or were expelled to north Africa during and after the reconquista. Btw, Andalusians have LESS north African male y-haplogroups than Galicia, a region that after the Canaries has the higher percentage in Spain. There is nothing you can call "Celtic" DNA either, the Indo-European invasion of Spain predates that non existent "Celtic" migration you cited by two thousand years. The Spanish DNA is basically Basques (Neolithic 45%, Indo-European 40%, hunter gatherer 15%) plus a little of Mediterranean admixture (mainly Italian). Other migrations didn't affect the whole DNA makeup of the Spanish very much. And lastly, you have to take in consideration PHENOTYPES in order to understand how populations appearance varies in different latitudes, it's not just DNA.
The North African admixture seems to be rather 5/6%, that's true. Actually, the highest average is in Galicia at 11%, so 10% is indeed higher than the actual average. But maybe he's counting Canarians in there, which usually are excluded when it comes to Peninsular Spaniard dna for obvious reasons.
Thank you for this comment it summaries everything I’ve studied about the reconquista. I never understood how Spain could have kept North African DNA from the moors/Berber’s or Arabs considering other occupations such as Roman’s controlling Britain for hundreds of years or Arabs taking over Persia when both of those groups don’t claim to have their oppressors DNA left behind. Very lazy reading of history considering the reconquista was a race war fought with the sword to expel Arab rule the Jews fought along with the Christian’s.
@@Mr1329932, The Jews allied themselves with one or another depending on the historical period. At first the majority was with the Muslim invaders, then in the end they opted for the Christians, who dominated, since the beginning of the 13th century, the bulk of the Iberian Peninsula.

Firts: is true about hunter gatherners and anatolian but the first influence of indoeuropeans came 4500 years ago in the first wave of these people (arround 95% of Y chromosome is R1B among spanish men). After that came another waves of proto celtic and celtic peoples. Second: Roman influence is true, myself have more than a 20% of etruscan origins. Germanic invasions also true: aboiut 5 %. Moorish is very residual cause the islamic people from Spain was the original pople converted to Islam and the north african armies in this age were pretty small. The north african influence was minimal. Also, during Middle Age was common to bring colons from other parts of Europe.

Irish does not mean Celtic. What are people meaning when they state Celtic? Also are you going by a dna test instead of genealogy in stating what you have. Depending on the dna test you can get different results so I wouldn't use a dna test as stating real ancestry.
Fantastic video, though I will say regarding DNA, we're unsure of the Gothic people. Genetically they were likely a separate group from what was to be referred to as Germania (which was a region inhabited by both Celtic and Germanic tribes, though both could be referred to as Germanic). There was some historical confusion that the Goths had originated in Sweden, but few credible scholars hold this position today. They originate in the east and were likely related to, or the descendants of Scythians.
My favorite Scythian history is that the Persians invaded Ukraine to fight them and that Scythian artifacts are found in the mountains north of Eastern Manchuria, China.
@mrbaab5932 My favorite Scynthian history is their connection to the Israelites that migrated North into Europe. Have you heard of the Dariel Pass, A.K.A. The Pass of Israel?
Not true. Obviously the steppe men impact was lower as you get far from the steppes. Current genetic studies show that. Also european population became taller because of those steppe men, while spanish remained short. Another evidence is that the iberian peninsula entered the bronze age in a very gradual way compared to the rest of europe. There is also evidence about previous languages not being replaced by the languages that the steppe men used, the most obvious example of these would be Euskera.

The Moors were Middle Eastern & North African, sure there are Sub Saharan aspects of their military but the typical definition of a "Moor" was an Amazigh. Whereas Black Americans try to use that term thinking it refers to Sub Saharans, and they get a lot of people confused by just using it regularly to refer to Sub Saharan origin Black people. Moors are a MENA population. The old Jewish name: *Gorelok* means an Ashkenazic person from Germany or Italy having a *Moor like complexion* . Which means *MENA* not Black. It's a reference to a Jew who looks more like an Arab, not a Black person.

In fact Steppe related ancestry reached in Iberia long before the Celts arrived in there. It was mainly taken there by the Bell Beaker Folk about 4,300 years ago. Celtic migrations arrived much later, about 3,000 years ago and had a much smaller genetic impact.
Thats what the celtiiberians are probably, early pre celtic PIEs who mixed with the iberians, not actually celts
@@MrMiguelForster I don't think so. From a linguistic perspective both Berones and Celtiberians were undoubtely Celtic speakers whereas other poeples like Lusitanians, Gallaeici, Astures or Vaccacei were proto-Celtic who sopke other Indo-Eurpeans languages. So at least two differentiated migrations into Iberia happened during the Bronze Age and carrying different branches of IE languages with them.

I have heard some linguistic similarities between Castilian Spanish and Slavic Bulgarian. Uno Edno, Dos Dve, Tres Tri, Quatro Chetiri, in the number system as a quick example.
That;s indoeuropean, nothing to do with Slavic...........
@@blerimimodaable Yes, the similarity is at the level that both (Spanish and Bulgarian) are Indo-European languages
Was told growing up I was half Spanish. Turns out I'm only 6% Spanish, 8% Italian, 3% North African. The rest is a mish-mash from all over the world, but mainly Irish & Indigenous MesoAmerica.
The average person Spain has zero North African ancestry
La media está alrededor del 5 %. En País Vasco es cero, en Galicia y Portugal más del 10 %.
The Southern & Central regions have it in large enough amounts that it's carried by most of the population and continually admixed back into itself.
Iberia is the first civilization

I’m Puerto Rican, the biggest mix in me is Portugues then Spanish, North and Central African, and like 15 other mixes. Total mutt, I look very Mediterranean, my mom white looking, Dad more African, native indigenous look.
We are the same
You look Philippino in your pic.

Ufff, it is a little bit more complicated.
Can you do an analysis of France? Thx

4500 ago the steppe men eliminated all the iberian men.

Mate, you have a serious confusion between the Berbers and the Phoenician. These two people have a very different genetic makeup. While the results you showed clearly show the 10%of berber component in Spanish genetic makeup, which is correct as a gene flow between Iberia and North Africa predated the Islamic expansion. Moreover, the Phoenician had little impact on the population in North Africa and Iberia except Tunisia. Please correct your analysis. FYI, berbers had their own civilisation through Numidia and their preceding kingdoms of Massyl and Massaesyles (present Algeria), which had interaction with the whole Mediterranean world.
In fact its suspected that the jews impacted the genetic pool of iberia more than the phoenicians did since after the expulsion of the jews not all left and many actually converted and stayed or moved to spanish colonies
@@clo8862 the only problem with your statement is there is no such a thing as Jew ethnic group or Jew genetic marker. A Jew is an individual who practices judaisme. Regarding Islamic Spain Jews, the most likely they are of berbers descent

Probably because you have a typical Mexican mix. The normal thing is a mix of European (usually Spanish, although not always) and Amerindian (Native American). The majority usually meet that pattern... in one percentage or another, but that's the point.
It's very hard to do a DNA video on Spain when populations like the Basques are so, so different.

Are you ever going to do the Moors themselves?
That's where we have to stop people.
Being described as having a *Moor - like appearance* , is a reference to having a *Semitic* or *North African* looking appearance. Not Black.
