Jens, at this point, after about a decade and a half of listening to music you produced and about half of my favourite albums (Portal of I, Pelagial, Phanerozoic, Ghost Reveries, With Oden on Our Side, The Fall of Hearts, ...), I'm probably more of a fan of you than of the bands in question; I listen to albums when I see your name in the production credits and have become so accustomed to your signature sound that I can pretty much tell even before I need to see the name there (listened to Borknagar's True North recently where it took me ten whole seconds to tell it was your work), so these videos giving insight into some of the philosophies behind that core sound that made all of those albums sound the way they do are amazing to see. Thank you for taking the time, looking forward to your future videos.
Hey, thanks for checking out the video and the kind words! Great to hear you are enjoying this type of tutorials. I guess that means we should be making more. :) Cheers!
I love all the plugins. Used them on my contest entry this month. Thanks for posting this as well. I'm just soaking up this knowledge as I go along as I'm new to the mixing game. Very educational. Hailz, Zane
Every "simple trick" or "basic fact" you mention is like a revolutionary lesson and insight into your amazing mind as a producer - we can't wait to continue to see more videos like this and we look forward to the day we can afford to have you produce one of our albums 😅 - Much love from Canada
Thank you very much for the stems. Very useful for learning. It is great fun for me to proof myself. Love your stuff, but already some things. Have already some drum libraries, but i must say krimh drums are pretty awesome. Maybe i have to spend some money again ;-)
This is wath every one of us in our little home studio want... A vst very easy to use tath sound punchy and processed just out of the box.... I really enjoy write songs, record them and have already a great sounding mix.... And after just one or two hours of recording deleting It all because I don't like it anymore😂
Is there a typical setting on that buss compressor you use ? I learned so much from this video alone and my mixes sounds way better than before so thanks for the tips 😁
Just out of curiosity: what is the summing box you're using and what is the analog eq you use on the mix bus? Thanks for making these tracks available and all the details provided in the video. I love these contests, equally fun and educational.
Just bought the drums last night and haven't had a chance to really play with them yet but I'm looking forward to it. Hey can anyone please recommend me a good vocal delay plug-in? I have a couple different delay plug-ins I have the BX delay and the waves H delay and I'm not real happy with either one of them for vocals. Any suggestions?
Yes, you can use it live! The TM-2 has a MIDI OUT connection. If your audio interface does not have a MIDI input, you, can get a MIDI to USB converted and connect your drums this way.
@@Bogren.Digital Sweet! I'll pick it up on Monday. I've been loving all the Bogren Digital stuff so far as I'm sure this will be just as great! I love the "no messing about" philosophy of a lot of it like the IR packs where you don't have to bugger about playing with different cab and mic position IRs. Forces you to listen and mix with your ears as opposed to your eyes.
Sometimes it can help to EQ the DI if a guitar is particularly dark or the musician did not use fresh strings. That being said, a fresh pack of strings will do wonders to your tone.
Stems and MIDI will sound completely different. In the second case we will have monotony. This applies to all drum plugins. The tracks recorded by the drummer sound fine, but when you import midi, the sound is immediately worse. It takes a lot of effort to get something acceptable.
There are no secretes here, it's the exact same MIDI track you hear in this video. If you are having problems setting things up, please shoot us an email to support@bogrendigital.com and we will help you out.

You share so many nuggets of gold in your discussions, great value - thanks!
Very nice capture 🎉 my support in here
Cool! It sounds great! This Krimh Drums sounds awesome!!!
Thanks! 🙌
Wow. Had no idea about panning 80 or 100 depending on the device. That's helpful.
I had a lot of fun doing my own mix for the contest, I've never tried mixing anyone else's songs or tracks before so that was fun.
You the man Jens!
Jens Rules!!!! Thanks for sharing your knowlege!!!!
Bro I like your strategy...... It all makes sense TO ME>.. SALUTE
Great video and thank you so much for the stems Jens! Can’t wait to see you at Kohle Audio Kult academy with some awesome metal course! 😈🤘🔥🔥🔥
Thanks, Alexey! The training is coming out very soon! 🙌

are there going to be any more full song mix contests?

how do you use these tones live? would one be able to upload them onto a TM-2 or TM-6 somehow?

why waves c6 instead of fab filter dynamic eq, multiband?
Different tools for different tasks. Sometimes one works better than another depending on the situation.
The Pro-MB is great, I use that too.
Do I really need another drum library..? Dammit Jens!
Is the sale/promo still going to be active next week? I'll be looking to pick it up then.
The good news is you won’t need another drum library after Krimh Drums. 😁
Our Black Friday sale has started and will last through November.

Where does that guitar Sound come from? What vst/amp?
This is our MLC S_Zero 100 amp! bogrendigital.com/products/mlc-s_zero-100
Mr. Jens, do you recomend eq the guitar DI before being processed with real amp and Jens Rhythm pack, considering that this is previosly eq? Thanks!
Sometimes it can help to EQ the DI if a guitar is particularly dark or the musician did not use fresh strings. That being said, a fresh pack of strings will do wonders to your tone.
That poor MLC amp, on in every video, watching Jens use Amp Knob
Those tubes add a lot of nice warmth… to the room. Great amp, BTW.
@@Bogren.Digital Prove it with a new Amp Knob model
@@newamerikangospelone year later here to tell you that the amp sim exists 🤘
Quick question, do you ever use Microshift on bass on your mixes to widen the bass?
If I need widening for bass, I would go to CLA bass mixed in parallel, like I show in the video.
I'm thinking about buying your drum program, Does it work with toontracks midi ? Just export midi from ezdrummer to your software, Does that work ?
Yes! We have mapping presets for EZ Drummer so you can get started quickly. We made a video about it here: ruclips.net/video/htDE1mwclIY/видео.html
