**I'm putting this at the top of this comment because it's something so small but incredibly helpful I unfortunately didn't do in this walkthrough: If you back up 2 steps then shoot the shotgun as soon as the battle with Leonard begins you'll have a far greater chance of stunning him. If done properly he won't swim around at all and you'll get a very efficient Leonard kill. If this isn't working for you, then hold run at the same time you back up.** Going over some things that I feel like I should have mentioned or elaborated on in the video ~ ***THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! :000*** You can very easily lose your 10 Star rewards (the upgraded flamethrower and beam saber) AFTER you already get your 10 star rank if you are not careful. Since I don't want anyone to suffer that fate, in order to keep your 10 star rewards you NEED to reset or turn off the game on your *_next_* playthrough's end rank screen. So basically, save the game when you finally get the 10 star rank. On your next playthrough, if it's _less_ than 10 stars, _turn off_ or _reset_ the game at the rank screen (do not push X or any button that will bring you to the "your stuff has been saved" screen) and you will not lose your rewards. If you let the game save your lower ranking you will lose the 10 star rewards. I cannot stress this enough lol. Just so there is no confusion, you *_do_* want to save your 10 star rank. You *_do not_*, however, want to save your ranking after you already got the 10 star rank. Basically, reset/turn off the game on the rank screen on any sequential playthrough to your 10 star rank playthrough. *Now for some general tips* Slurpers are definitely annoying to deal with. If you find that you are having too much trouble with the Slurpers, then you can simply run past them. The fastest way to get up after getting knocked down by a Slurper is mash r1+l1+x+square while rotating the left analog stick. Don't worry about missing Slurper kills, you will be able to make up for it later with the infinite nurse kills exploit in the hospital. Also the maul is way more useful against Slurpers than I initially gave it credit for. If you want to get a fighting kill off of a Slurper but don't like using the Katana against them, the maul may prove more useful. One swing can stun them. It is advisable to practice every boss before attempting this. I recommend making saves on a hard mode file before Split Worm, Missionary, Leonard, Memory of Alessa, and God and practice the bosses. After you shoot the Missionary while it's down you want to mash the reload button then shoot again right away. This basically stun locks Missionary if you are the correct distance away. Heather's reloading animation is the perfect length to time another shot while the Missionary is getting up. This is how I was able to defeat it in the video. 1:55:03 For the love of God do not fall back into the pit in this hallway. Easy to accidentally do when fighting the Slurpers. Releasing all buttons and walking forward after shooting the shotgun cancels the holding animation, which is how I was able to reload in the menu fast enough to keep Leonard stun locked. Also, if you back up a little (2 steps) before shooting Leonard the first time he will be FAR more likely to get stunlocked; I didn't know this when I made this video. Memory of Alessa functions similarly to the Double Heads, in that you want to block her attack (listen to the ***whip*** sound her weapon makes and press block when you hear it) then instantly shoot. She will not use her gun or submachine on you if you're close to her, she will only use those if you're at a certain distance away. Do not press R2 if you do not have any weapon equipped. This will make Heather "ready" the Heather Beam and this might count as an extra weapon use, which will screw you out of getting 10 stars. I'm not *too* sure if this will actually prevent 10 stars, but don't risk it. The game notably leaves you unarmed after fighting Missionary, so be careful. If you really want to kill Insane Cancers then use either the shotgun or the stun gun. If you really want to kill Pendulums, then don't... Jk, use either the handgun, shotgun, katana, or stun gun. Don't be too upset if the Pendulum screws you out of 10 stars because that's your own fault for fighting a Pendulum :D Save at any of the following locations ~ - Before Split Head - Before Missionary - Before the infinite kills exploit (God forbid) - After the infinite kills exploit (try to make it to Leonard instead) - Before Leonard - Before Borley's Haunted Mansion - Before God You can only choose two, so choose wisely. Mark kills done after the first and second saves on different paper since it can be annoying losing track of your kill count if you need to reload a save. Looking back, saving before Split Head is a better idea than I initially gave it credit for. If saving at Split Head, then make your 2nd save at Leonard, Borley, or God. Also, here's a little bonus video. It's nothing special, just various enemy strats: ruclips.net/video/EPK24SaEE8I/видео.html

Thank you, I'm happy to have helped^^ Ampoules aren't needed but they 100% will make them a whole lot easier, especially Split Worm. The only boss where it doesn't really help much at all is Leonard. And basically every God strat is going to be risky, even the PC exclusive blind spot strategy lol.

@@RuminInLove fr I loved watching this tho, I’m trying my own 10-star now. You inspired me to start using the quick turn, strafe, and beef jerky. I love watching people get good at the mechanics of these old survival horror games because it shows that these are games with thoughtfully designed gameplay that require skill. People accustomed to higher QOL in newer games mostly don’t like it imo because it’s... harder? Less fun? But not because it’s bad I think
@@RuminInLove Yeah. I'm playing on easy and killing all the enemies in the hospital (with the exception of the nurse in that specific hallway) make a total of 10. That way I don't lose count on how many kills I have. I've killed 200 with the exploit alone. I'll kill 100 more just to be sure I get the possessed and the heather beam.
Yo Rumin, I'm currently slogging through the 10 tiers of extreme mode, and since there's like no decent info for it on the web, could you please clarify a few things? I can't tell if my health/stamina drops with each level up, or if enemies have more health? Overall, you got any cool tips for me?
Enemies get more powerful, your health slowly gets lower (Hard Mode = 100 pts of health, Extreme X = 50 pts of health), and your stamina is lower. The current belief is that every difficulty between Extreme 1 and Extreme X has the same health and ammo item spawns, but those health and ammo spawns are different than Hard Mode (which, in turn, has different spawns than Normal and Easy.) The item spawns aren't anything to worry about though, it's really not that much different than Hard mode. My only real piece of advice is to take advantage of critical damage. Heather will only die when she gets hit at 0 HP. So if you get hit by something when you're at 1 HP, you'll live. Besides that, just go in guns blazin' with max bullet adjust. Enemy health is identical between Hard and every Extreme difficulty.
Okay, so I'm seriously frustrated at this point - any advice is highly appreciated. I know how to fight Split Worm with the pipe as shown, but for the life of me I have no idea what's going wrong. The fucking worm ends up ground-pounding, or doing some kind of animation that kills the flow and completely ruins the fight. I'm doing EXACTLY what you're doing in the video, even adjusting my position before the block so I don't get too far away. And yes, I'm using the ampoule.
Skip 8 minutes and 20 seconds into this video and try this instead: ruclips.net/video/QXTXB9PYo60/видео.html As for the pipe strat, if you wait too long between pipe hits it'll ruin the flow. You need to hit Split Worm as soon as you're done guarding.

All enemy health is the same on difficulties hard-to-extreme X, and that goes for boss fights as well. Normal, easy, and beginner have less health though.
Version 1.7.0-dev-379-gd2169d725, this is the most up to date version that actually allows FMVs to play in SH3. Turn on 'switch to GSdx software rendering when an fmv plays' game fix in the emulation settings. Texture filtering to "forced excluding sprites" and blending accuracy to "full". This is so text looks more how it does on actual PS2 hardware. Also helps the noise effect display more accurately. Everything else is preference. @@Spooka-Rubi Idk, but make sure you have ps2 bios if you haven't already. They can be found online, all you have to do is make a folder called "bios" in the same directory as your PCSX2 files, and put the ps2 bios in the bios folder. Also, experiment with renderers in the video (gs) settings. Direct and OpenGL can wield different compatibility results depending on the computer build, or so I've heard. Google is your friend in this scenario, it looks like you just need to search up and download the xaudio2_8.dll file. If you google something like "could not load xaudio2_8.dll" or "pcsx2 126 error" then you'll find probably find a plethora of other solutions if that doesn't. Some files are exclusive to windows 8 and 10, so it could be an issue with your OS. If so, download from pcsx2.net/download.html instead.
Thanks for this bro. I could never get 10 stars on sh3, only 1 and 2 but I'm Def gonna try it again. Just a couple questions. 1. If you pause the game, does the in game timer still run? 2. If you shoot an enemy and it goes down and then you stomp it to death, does it count as a shooting or fighting kill?
1. Pausing the game stops the in game timer. Looking at the options, items, or map doesn't. 2. Depends. If you stomp on an enemy when it's already dead, it will still be a shooting kill. If you stomp on an enemy before it dies, it will be a fighting kill. It all depends on the death sound. If the monster does its death sound while being shot, it's a shooting kill. If the monster does when kicked, it's a fighting kill even if the monster was shot to the floor.
This videos given me so more help in learning silent hill 3 as I've been going up through the numerous extreme difficulties thank you so much, 10 of them is insane, I was mainly curious about the heather beam, you mentioned in the pinned comment that if you press R2 to ready it, it could potentially void the 10 star run, has this ever been confirmed or is it still just a potential risk? And (this might be a stupid question but I haven't unlocked it yet) if it doesn't actually void the 10 star does it have autoaim? Im planning to just sneak by the sluppers by combat walking and using the jerky because F killing those things.
I don't think it's ever been confirmed for the Heather Beam specifically. The Flamethrower won't void the rank by equipping and readying it (but firing it will), so mayhaps the same is the case for the Heather Beam.
@@RuminInLove thanks for the response, I completely forgot about the flamethrower cause without the 10 star boost I just have it sitting in my inventory, the light when aiming it might make slupper stealth a bit better to deal with. I forgot to say before, your silent hill 2 10 star rebirth 0 saves run helped me get the 10 star in that game without using the bullet adjust, the chainsaw was the mvp, thanks again! I'm hoping to eventually 10 this game on extreme x
@@RuminInLove hi again, I found the answer to the heather beam mystery, I figured out that just readying the beam doesn't give you the extra weapon used penalty just like the flamethrower, unfortunately tho it does have autoaim so when I tried to stealth with the slupers with it, it just sent me right into them lol, probably gonna have to kill them after all unfortunately
Do you have the flashlight off? From my experience those little buggers shouldn't really bother you when you lay down some beef jerky, have your flashlight off, and don't run... Results may vary.
@@RuminInLove yeah flashlight off and combat walking with some jerky down, it's moreso that they always seems to wander exactly where I'm going and they just knock me down, it's totally a me thing, just something I need to improve on, the main 2 places the 5th floor office building corridor with 5 of the blasted things, and then both blood corridors in the otherworld hospital, those 2, especially the corridor to Leonard always give me trouble
Holy heck, I **cannot** kill the god efficiently, usually resorting to tanking Ampoules. I know you were focused and had a hard time explaining as you were doing the run, but what do I need to really watch out for? The fire is the least of my concerns, I've figured out to nearly always dodge it. The god always swipes whenever I approach though and it seems that no matter when I go in I get hit, with or without attacking. Is there proper spacing or an angle I need to try? Any help is much appreciated!
If playing on PC then use the blinds pot, which can be seen in pretty much any speedrun on the leaderboard on speedrun.com. On ps2 you'll need to shoot her down, hit her twice in the head with the katana, then avoid her attacks until her gets up again. You need to get good at strafing. Use an ampoule if you have any to speed up Heather's cool down animations. There's really no easy way to go about it.
Dang, ok. Maybe I’m greeding too much. But it seems that she swipes as soon as I shoot her down and I don’t know when it’s safe to go in to get my 2 hits. I’d rather not use the PC exploit just cuz I like to minimize exploits in general (I even use save points even though I can save anywhere on PC) but at this rate I may have to. Thanks. Imma go take a nap next to Harry now :’)
1:07:35 it only takes one slurper to ruin your entire day 😂. Most annoying enemy in the entire series imo, haha. The previous hallway has to be the hardest hallway in the entire damn game too lol 1:40:05 oh God, idk man, they were given guns lol. 2:08:44 alright, I'm glad to see this is by default the second save no matter what. I was thinking that I honestly don't care what anyone else said, this was going to be my second save when I do the run lol. I remember on my casual hard playthrough, I had to have spent at least an hour trying to get through this lol... Then I died in the theme park and had to do it again! It was awful lol.
I don’t know why the second save spot shouldn’t be before the final boss. The distance before Leonard to the Haunted Mansion is very short, and I wouldn’t have a problem doing it over. However failing the final boss and having to do most of the park and the entire chapel again, would be frustrating. I think I might try to get a 10 Star on the HD Collection on Series X. I do have a working ps2 and copy of the game to play when I want to experience the story and horror. However for accomplishments like this, I would rather do it for something that has cloud saves, rather than a memory card that will eventually break. Just personal preference. I don’t normally do 100% challenging things for older console games, because there’s no easy way to hard back up your save data. The Leonard fight I would assume is easier since the water doesn’t slow you down, due to a bug.
That's not true; it works the same in every version. The monster won't grab you unless you actively run across the metal walkway without using the hairdryer first. You can get the gold and silver pipes before electrocuting the monster in both the PC and PS2 versions.
@@RuminInLove oops yeah, I meant that you can go near the water and be safe if you don't run on the platform but I've tried and can't seem to trigger the fairy w/o first electrocuting the monster... Idk though, might be region exclusive (?)

@@RuminInLove ok thanks again. Looking forward to getting my 10 stars after all these years.
I FW with you immensely
I'm gonna assume this means you're cool with me lol. Thanks!
Shoot her down, wait for her swipe, then go in for the two hits. After that, avoid her. It takes practice. Make a save before God.
1:07:35 it only takes one slurper to ruin your entire day 😂. Most annoying enemy in the entire series imo, haha. The previous hallway has to be the hardest hallway in the entire damn game too lol
1:40:05 oh God, idk man, they were given guns lol.
Do you think it’s possible to 10-star this WITHOUT bullet adjust?
Yes it's possible.
Can you use Sexy Beam/Heather Beam in order to achieve 10 Star Rank?
No 👎
Im just curious. What platform do you play on?
PCSX2.
hi, are you playing the ps2 or pc version?
PS2 version on PC emulator (PCSX2).
finally some to the poi t walkthrough i hate fucking youtube and google algorithms ;/
The second save spot can be before the final boss if you want it to be.
What do u think about 10 star ranking in extereme x ?
Like 4 or 5 people have done those. Radgecast, Camelotsmoon, MrMcSqueezy, and TKMO are the ones I know about off the top of my head.
@@RuminInLove and will u do it?!
Idk, I don't plan things or take requests.
buddy discord or steam have?
No I don't, sorry 😔
@@RuminInLove silent hill 3 10 ranks do hard?
@@RuminInLove When I open the game again, the Extra New Game and Extra Costumes option disappears, why is it in Silent Hill 3?
@@ramfb3734 you need to beat the game before those options become available
@RuminInLove fix can this?
35* sub special now 😁
Thanks!!! I made this when I had 33 subs (long upload time), so it's a 33 subscriber special :)
based
I thought that Rank 10 was only possible only in the New Game
It's only possible on Extra New Game.
@@RuminInLove Okay, i'm ending extreme mode, I'm at 6
Why u did not used shotgun on god?
The shotgun is absolutely terrible on hard mode God.
What emulator do you use?
Pcsx2. It's one of the only PS2 emulators out there. The only other PS2 emulator is called "Play!"
Is this a not valid game copy? Since you can only grab the silver and gold pipes after you electrocute the hentai monster
You can do that before or after.
@@RuminInLove then this must only be on the ps2 emulators... Pc version won't allow you to come near the water without getting grabbed at all
That's not true; it works the same in every version.
