Check out the Lightroom Presets I used to edit the photos in this video :) Here: www.digitalfilmactions.com/lightroom-presets/#/disposable-film-lightroom-preset/ 💛
I am really loving your channel. Learning way more from your style of teaching than from other youtube channels. Thanks so much! Making me feel way more confident behind the camera.
I love when you shoot with Kristina! I loved this bts shoot today! The shots by the lemon tree were my fav! Awesome work Julia, keep up the amazing work!! :) Cheers
Kristina is an absolutely stunning model and I love the rapport between the two of you. And I enjoyed the video, but since this was a comparison between two lenses, I couldn’t make out which you preferred, version I or Version II.
Life's Beautiful I have a general review and comparison of both lenses up on my channel already! I’m also going to do another comparison once I’ve used it a few more times at portrait photoshoots in some different lighting conditions 😄
- I had a good feeling about this lens! - This is the old one. hsahasuassauhsausha Best dialogue ever? Looove when you shoot with Kristina... she's like a star on this channel hahaha
I'm sure you two brought the children out of everyone here. So much fun and laughter. Do you underexpose a stop or so in bright conditions and maybe over a stop in the shade or darker conditions.
Nathan Bryant I pretty much always underexpose my images by a stop or 2 as I prefer to save as much background detail as possible and I feel like skin has more detail/texture/definition that way too!
julia i suggest that show all the edited photos after the photoshoot in your next “behind the scenes” videos :)) all the great pictures... I really love Kristina, i love her beautiful smile, she’s an amazing model!!
Hi Julia! Can i ask you something please? I've just bought the canon 35mm 1.4 mk1 lens and I use it with a canon 70d. I use it with the lens hood but when I want to shoot something at f 1.4 and it's too sunny I get a lot of purple fringing in photos even at ISO 100 and shutterspeed at 1/8000. Do you use a filter for you lens to help you to get rid of the purple fringing or is just to protect the external lens?
Photographer points out spot in trees. Model doesn’t listen. Photographer takes a couple shots then asks the model to move to the spot again. Model listens and then “really loves those, let’s do some more here”. Yeah, listen to your photographer the first time cause she saw that opportunity and if she hadn’t asked again you’d have missed all those lovely shots! Also I love these locations and this video made me want to go out and shoot, nice work!
Your videos are so helpful. Thank you. I've been having issue with focus. Maybe 7 out of 10 are sharp in the eyes but I'm getting a lot of blur especially at 1.4 around the eyes. Are you using continuous focus or AI Servo when shooting your models? Any advice? Thanks again. The videos are great and appreciated! Thanks. Gabe
I personally use one shot when taking photos - I prefer to have control over where my focus point is and when it focuses :) I have a detailed video about how I focus here: ruclips.net/video/t1eVrLjdCzA/видео.html&t hopefully that can help you!
i always love the mood and vibes in your photo, you’re one of my favorite photographer❤️ I realize you move your camera slightly before every photo, are you using the focus and recompose technique??
You are a great photographer..I love the way you click the photos...Btw can I use this 35mm lens on Canon 200d? Are the results will be good or i have to buy 77d or 80d? Thank you
Thank you! I believe that the lens really makes a difference in image quality, so you can definitely use it on your camera. The only thing to keep in mind is if your camera is a crop sensor, then the 35mm will appear to be more zoomed in!
Julia, when you are doing a portrait shoot like this and your camera is M, do you set the exposure at the beginning of the shoot and not worry about adjusting it for subtle changes in the lighting conditions? Do you adjust the exposure during the shoot for different effects as well? With this type of shoot where there is a lot of movement, there is no time to be adjusting shutter speed to accommodate for subtle changes in the light conditions. Is that an issue or do you fix the exposure imperfections in post editing.
I adjust for all the different spots we’re shooting in, it’s better to try and get it right in camera and only rely on “fixing” things in post if it was a true accident! The more you practice in M the more second nature it becomes, I sometimes even adjust settings while shooting 😄
@@juliatrotti many thanks for your reply. I operate on M for over 90% of my shots. I don't normally shoot with as much movement and action so that was the reason for the question. Especially outside the lighting can change fairly quickly, adding a change in shooting direction adds to the mix as well. I will practice more with movement and adjusting on the fly. Lots to think about when composing the shot on a moving target. I am really enjoying your videos and am learning more and more with each one. Cheers!!!
Love this BTS, I have the mark ii but I would like to find a mark i also. When I shoot my dog, I find that the mark ii is too sharp, we can see all the detail in his fur which is very distracting. In this scenario, I think the mark i would be better!
Sometimes I'll have some bullet points written down on my phone so I don't stray away from the point I'm trying to make haha it depends on what the topic is :)
How do you feel about flaring on MK II, it seems to be noticeable stronger than on old lens, especially when shot directly towards the sun? I rented MK II for few days to test in few days.. Nice stuff btw.
Mateusz M thank you! Honestly it bothers me a fair bit because I have to change my shooting style a little to be able to avoid it, or in the before & after photo I shared, take the time to retouch the flair out. I’m still keeping my mk1 to possibly shoot in harsh backlit scenarios such as this one since it barely flares and especially not on the models face! With and without lens hood or UV filter the mk2 was flaring :/
I am defo going to share my experience when I get my hands on rental next week, but I doubt it would be your copy. If it is MK II it is a bit of shame as it seems to be beast of a lens. Another Canon's lens to love and hate at the same time.. seems like. Keep the good work :)
Julia Trotti have you tried it without the protective lens filter? I know some swear it does not effect the lens. I feel it does. Love the videos, awesome model.
I loved this video! half of the video I was thinking "wow she's such a good model"... and the other half I'm thinking "omg be careful there's a cactus. lol"
Damn im new to photography didnt even take classes i just really appreciate everything around me, and want to take shots like this too! Love it! thank you for always keeping me inspired
I really like how you work together Dan for video. Your photos are beautiful bravo! and as usual you have Kristina as a solar model and incredibly beautiful. thank you very much.
Amazing work, Julia! Can you tell what focus setup did you use on this shooting? I never got the sharpness you do! Did you use center focus point or all of them? And what about One Shot or AI Servo? Thanks!!
Thank you! I use one shot and move my focus point around so it's on the model's face. I have a detailed video about how I focus here in case you're interested: ruclips.net/video/t1eVrLjdCzA/видео.html&t :)
Sudip Das hahaha aw thank you! I’ll do a proper review with some fashion photos soon, I want to use it a bit more and in some different lighting scenarios too. I just wanted to include some of the comparison photos I already got in this video because why not 😊
great video -thanks - do you find that the mkii is more prone to lens flares ? I'm concerned they may too frequent with that lens ? additionally - have you done a video of the subject of making money as a photographer? in this instance, other than building a portfolio and to add to our stock sites - how would/could one make an income from the results of a fantastic shoot and an amazing model such as this ?
Hello! I just got in to Canon and i am thinking to go for 35 f2 IS. Anyone used that lense before? That beautiful smile made your video even more awesome.
Nice video, great shots and I have to be honest, Kristina is probably the best model that I've seen on RUclips! Everything here is so beautiful! Thank you for another helpful video! :)
They're both amazing cameras! It just depends on personal preference (what you prefer to hold, lenses available, etc) and what you want to use them for :) but they're both great and I love using them!
How do you become comfortable enough to guide your models, in feeling relaxed enough to pose for you? I feel like sometimes my model is somewhat stiff looking. Almost waiting for me to tell them what to do. Does this come natural to the model itself?
Idelise Rosado Kristina is naturally comfortable in front of the camera, so in this case I like to just have fun with the shoot, talk, joke around, etc to keep up that energy. If someone is a little more shy in front the camera I like to give them more direction, positive reinforcement while I’m shooting and share some good photos we just got with them on the back of the camera so they know they’re doing well! 😊
Hi Julia... Amazing photoshoot, and the lemon tree part it's liiitt, I'm new at photography, so.. I just wanted to know if all the photos you showed were raw unedited?
Thank you! All the photos are edited with my Lightroom Presets :) I have one behind the scenes video where I shared both the raw + edited photos though: ruclips.net/video/hAhIKunKZYw/видео.html&t

When do you usually have sales on your presets store?
I agree with everyone else. Kristina is the best model! I would love to have the 35mm mark 2 :)
Never a dull moment when you are shooting with Kristina and always a joy to watch! Inspirational pictures.
Kristina's smile is infectious! More Kristina!
Yay! Another Kristina photoshoot. Can't stop enjoying them all. What a great model.
I am really loving your channel. Learning way more from your style of teaching than from other youtube channels. Thanks so much! Making me feel way more confident behind the camera.
please never quit, these videos motivate me so much to get out and shoot! keep this up
George Wilks comments like this make me never want to stop making videos! 💛
I love your style,
that connection with the model is incredible and gives better results
Kristina: “I look too happy, I’m going to tone it down”
Round two: *still looks just as happy and adorable* hahahaha! 😂 I love her! She’s so cute!
Yay for Kristina! I love when you shoot with her 💕
She's just the cutest model ever! I love the behind the scenes videos!
I love when you shoot with Kristina! I loved this bts shoot today! The shots by the lemon tree were my fav! Awesome work Julia, keep up the amazing work!! :) Cheers
Alex Iby thank you!! 💛
Julia Trotti hi! I have a quick question. What lens do you recommend for a full body outfit shot? I have a canon 5d ii
Love when y'all shoot together! Always looks like a good time 😊
Love your shoots with Kristina! She's so smiley in the photos - so great! xxx
Kristina's smile makes everything perfect... and beautiful
Kristina is a great model! Wonderful photo shoot.
I love the photoshoots with Kristina!!!
Just love her personality and smile , soooo much^^ nice shot
You guys make it seem so effortless! Love your style.
mk2 definitely looks likenit has more natural contrast and handles flare better. But the mk1 looks more cinematic to me.
i love this model, is lovely
Julia seems so sweet & lively. Like a photoshoot with her is probably so fun.
Yassss Kristina 😍 lol her signature pose is the smile looking up eyes closed lolol

Julia, 35mm is your favorite. Now I understand why. Great shoot and the way you make your model lively and playful is really excellent.
Trying to decide between Canon 35L mk1 and Sigma 35 art. Any suggestion? Better performance in Sigma, but a lottery in focus consistency.
@@unwrittensparkle Hi! didn´t decide yet, sorry. If you do, let me know please. Thanks
sorry for the late answer ! get the Canon almost better AF and accuracy, no compatibily problems

Unfortunately fringing is a thing :( I use Lightroom to get rid of it - it’s super quick and easy to do and usually works pretty flawlessly!
She’s the best model ever
The outfit with the lemon tree absolutely beautiful 🍋😍
i love her smile
You captured an incredible smile 2:14 and again at 11:56. Thanks for sharing this and what you do!
Love the 35 mark ii
Love you two together! 😀🙌🏼
I'm in love with Kristina, she has such a lovely smile. I'm dead.
hi Julia.. what camera and lens you used for filming youtube videos, just like this video? thanks for answer me.. ^^
Great video. I loved the vid you made with her running in the hay field.
It's awesome to see how you work. Phenomenal insight! And Just picked up an equivalent to that lens and love it!!! Cheers
How were you able to focus with such movement. I can’t never get my camera to focus when my objects are moving like that. Tips?
my favorite lens for a wedding
I loved Kristina's "5, 6, 7, 8" before dancing toward the cactus! You two are hilarious and so talented together!
Bailey Mclemore hahaha me too, I couldn’t stop laughing 😂
Your photo shoots with Kristina are amazing!!!
I like the picz when Kristina is the subject. Lol. So photogenic.💕
Both photographer and model are amazing! Love these videos!

i always love the mood and vibes in your photo, you’re one of my favorite photographer❤️ I realize you move your camera slightly before every photo, are you using the focus and recompose technique??
Alexander Lee thank you!! Yep I am focusing and recomposing as the focus point sometimes doesn’t quite reach the face for the composition I want 😊
Julia Trotti
That’s one reason why I would like to switch to Sony, this focusing/ recomposing is annoying...
I love watching all your videos but I like the ones with Christina the most because I have a crush on her 😭
