Great tips on sewing with knits. I do love sewing with knit fabric and I usually do it all on my serger. That being said I still do consider myself a beginner sewist as I don't have a lot of experience with woven. I am struggling lately with the tension on my serger as I made a pair of hudson pants out of waffle fabric and the seams are very wavy. Love how your Jarrah turned out in that beautiful Atelier Brunette fabric!!
This is a phenomenal video! I can see why it was such a bear to edit, but as always your teaching style is clear and concise. This video is a huge asset to the sewing community. Also I laughed so hard at the Guy Fieri GIF when you talked about not liking polyester. 😂
@ we did! We got about 7 inches at our house, which is CRAZY. We went out a few times to play in it but we got cold fast. I should probably get some actual snow gear at this rate….
There must be a big difference in French terry. I made a couple tops last year. They are pilling and don’t look nice. Have you experienced this? I’m so glad to find a place to get good ribbing. I like to keep a stash so I have it when I need it. Thank you for your recommendation.
Yes I have! When I first started sewing with knits (before RUclips) a bunch of bloggers mentioned they got affordable French Terry from Sew So English. I bought a fair amount and was so disappointed. The only thing I have left from that is my wearable muslin for me in Hudson Pants. I kept some to solely use for muslins as all the other makes pilled quickly. I definitely got what I paid for. It was cheap and performed cheap. Also Rayon or viscose is nice, but needs to be washed with care. I sewed a Nikko top w a nice viscose jersey. I knew I did not want to hand wash it so took a chance on washing it in the machine with lightweight garments. It is not going to last as long as it would have had I hand washed it. I do look out for sales and tend to stick with what I know. There is a lot of good stuff out there. Part of my hefty stash is the buying on sale. 🙄
Great tips Christine thank you, Maraflex is a game changer xx
Absolutely!! And I heard it first from you!

I’m glad you found it helpful! Thanks 💕
So much good information in this video - plus a lovely finished Jarrah at the end!
Thank you Izzy!
Thank you for taking your time to explain so many details to us. As a new garment sewer I appreciate it a lot.
I am glad you found it helpful! I wanted to put out there what I would have liked to have known. 💕

Waffle knit can be stretchy! You may need to adjust your differential feed. Check that first.
@@ChristineSewsALot Thank you, I will try that. I have some more waffle knit in my stash and I think I would like an oversized long sleeve tee.
Great tips, Christine. 😊
Thank you 💕

Thanks Erin. Did y’all get snow? We have a couple inches. Charlie is like a big kid.

Thank you for this great tutorial. I learned a lot.
I'm so glad you found it useful! 💕
Does it matter that you're not folding your fabric with right sides together?
When cutting it out? No it does not matter.
@ChristineSewsALot 😊 thanks
