I read your comment and did some reading up on Thomas Shepherd. Just to imagine that land grant for 222 acres would build such a beautiful town with so much history important to this country. Thanks for your comment.
Blair Murray, I found my Great Great Grandfather's grave in Shepherdstown West Virginia in Elmswood Cemetery. I was very humbled, Benjamin Towner of Shepherds Town and Family.
It is too bad you did not cover anything about the Thomas Shepherd Gristmill that has a 40 ft diameter Fitz Water Wheel that is still intact and does run. Thomas Shepherd founded Shepherdstown, WV. The stream that flow through the town is called "The Town Run," it is fed by multiple large springs just north of the downtown. The Town Run also powered the Shepherd's Grist Mill before emptying into the Potomac River.
My Dad worked for the VA and at the end of WW II he was transferred to the new VA Hospital in Martinsburg. We lived in Shepherdstown. I went all through school there. I remember it well. Would love to go back and see what it is like now. Don Elder
It's still a beautiful town. The history is well documented. Lots of touristy things to do. The county is slowly growing but still a homey feel. Thanks for the reply.
@@JasonIsOverHere West Virginia has laws that are more in-line with what I believe in, as well as having a very modest cost of living. :) plus, I've been told that star gazing in WV is breathtaking, something I've always wished was true in metro MD. But, all that light pollution..
The area is close enough to work in the surrounding states the have good paying jobs. You can be in VA and MD in a matter of minutes. Yes the stargazing descent here.
@@JasonIsOverHere Exactly my thought process too! high paying jobs right over the border, and rock-bottom (or at least more reasonable) costs of living on the home turf.
Ty for great camera footage beautiful place
I love this town. Moving there in 2022!
Did you?
Thanks for the tour. What a beautiful town, and love all the rainbow flags.

My 9th Great Grandfather Thomas Shepherd Sr is the founder of Shepherdstown, West Virginia
