Back in those days rye whiskey was top dog and corn whiskey was second in popularity. After prohibition is when wheat was used it was readily available with winter wheat being planted heavily. Great show and I believe this would be a great addition to your other shows. History of bourbon with porter..
Thank you Professor Porter! I enjoy the history, it flushes out and colors the story of our country. I just got and started reading Minnick's books about whiskey history.
Learning about the history is part of truly appreciating whiskey IMHO. Even as a non-newbie, I am still learning and welcome more history. It’s one of the things Jason C. does well. He gives a lot of history and background in his shows! Thanks much for the Weller story!
I like to add some water to spiky whiskeys to see how it changes it. Hard to do that when you only have a single pour though, as I've had some whiskeys ruined by a few drops of water.
Great content Matt keep ‘em rolling! But who is this Tom Tom Brady guy and how many times can one person retire? Is he gonna come out with a bourbon now called 7 rings?
Great story for real, been watching your channel awhile but this my first comment wanted to make sure you still keep on storytellinggggg Ps got a bottle of WLW 2021 and another in 2022, bout to open just one not sure which any advice? Pps what bourbon would score a 10? Thanks keep it up
Love this format. Though I must ask after watching A LOT of your videos ive yet to see a 9.0+ rating. What are some of your 9.0+ tastings? Very curious! Keep up the great content Matt!

I enjoyed the history lesson. Thanks!
Love both the history and tastings!
Had the chance to enjoy a pour of WLW this past fall at a local liquor store- it was great, but I liked Weller Full Proof just as well.
Big fan of stuff like this. Hard to go wrong with more whiskey knowledge!
Cool video!!

Right on that Another excellent story.🥃👊🤓
The stories are great. More please.
Matt, keep on "ramblin"! Enjoy your videos!!
Why is the Weller Full Proof bottle upside down?
What’s up with the upside-down Weller FP in the background? 😂
Dang the Bus Driver just took me to School.... Great Video, Have a Beautiful Day Everyone, Cheers 🥃🥃
Also to think we almost had Bill & Chuck Bros Bourbon.... almost....
"...Golden feet.....If you're a feet fan." LMFAO I want to see the outtakes and deleted scenes from this episode. #qualiyentertainment
What the heck! Way to work the whiskey history. Great point about William Larue Weller, what if he thought the bottle that bears his name sucked?
more storytelling please... loved this video
Now that was awesome. 9.1 for the video
I need to find the new Upside Down Full Proof Weller variant.
I'm keeping my head in the clouds, but my mind is wondering what your highest rating to date has been and on which bottle?
would love a weekly story time video
Awesome Matt. I add an ice cube. Different animal.
History lessons are great!
More stories yes .....and yes more tasting. Thanks Matt.
A late comment, but damn, Matt, do more of those!
Damn Matt you are looking good!
More stories please.
You are a fine story teller! To be fair: 125proof is a lot of alcohol!
Thanks for the history lesson.
Don’t need the Dickle history lesson
You should absolutely do Drunk ADHD History lessons
Is this History channel or Drunk History ? Either way I like it
Keep the history lessons coming!
More stories, please.
I’m in on this series
Have you read Wright Thompson's "Pappyland"? Great book. Highly recommend. Should help you towards your Ph.D in bourbon history.
If I may quote Matt…”friggin love it!”
didn't you just give Lucky Seven Proprietor an 8.6.....which is actually attainable?
Loved the history! If I ever get bottle of that I’m sure to be disappointed given how high my expectations would be.
"I'm what some kinesiologist would consider a good salesman" 😆
looking svelte, Matt!!
We need more of these ADHD history lessons
