Learning about the history is part of truly appreciating whiskey IMHO. Even as a non-newbie, I am still learning and welcome more history. It’s one of the things Jason C. does well. He gives a lot of history and background in his shows! Thanks much for the Weller story!

Back in those days rye whiskey was top dog and corn whiskey was second in popularity. After prohibition is when wheat was used it was readily available with winter wheat being planted heavily. Great show and I believe this would be a great addition to your other shows. History of bourbon with porter..

I 100% concur on the tasting notes. I got my first bottle of WLW this year (the 2022) and instantly traded for the 2020. The 2020 is still the best bourbon I’ve ever had.
I had the 2022 at a bar last night and while it is a fantastic whiskey, it doesn’t match the 2020. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. I would drink it any day of the week. But the 2020 has that extra something.

Matt, you're my favorite bourbon guy, and I have a question because I know that unlike so many other reviewers, you actually read the comments and so I believe you care. Right now I'm enjoying something that most people might consider to be "bottom shelf" Jim Beam white label, yep the old 80 proof that doesn't get any big deal attention. My question, that if you could ever get this to Jim Beam Distilleries, is this. Why the heck doesn't Jim Beam do with their old mainstay budget white label stuff, what Wild Turkey did with it's 101? We all know that the only difference between Wild Turkey and Wild Turkey 101 is the proof, it's all from the same barrels, they just didn't proof down the 101 as much. I would LOVE (and if I could make those all caps bigger, I would, like 100% bigger) to try Jim Beam white label at at least a 100 proof for just a few bucks more. I mostly enjoy bourbon on a big rock in an old fashioned glass at 100 proof or more, but when I want a shot or to just sip, I like the 80 proof, but every time I open one of these bottles, damn I wish I could enjoy it like I enjoy the Wild Turkey 101. I think the same is probably true of Old Forester 86 to 100. Jim Beam should join in!
