    I had to take an electronics class for my hvac certification. It was online because of Covi. It was not set up for online. We literally had to watch home made RUclips videos
    about different electronic subjects. Often 12 to 17 per chapter. MANY videos were made by people who had more knowledge of film editing than electronics. I have the
    Fluke 116 hvac meter but this meter is very similar. I wish I would have had this video for class. The guy is organized, quick, competent. Thank you for the video!

    I have seen you insert the red lead before the black lead.
    in the manual it said to insert the COM lead before the live one, and remove it after the live.

    The Volt Alert function with the com wire touching the phasin cable will show that there is a phase? Is it possible to determine which wire is the phase?

    • @BeatTheBushDIY
      @BeatTheBushDIY  Год назад

      I think you are asking if the Volt Alert can tell the difference between Neutral and Line. I suppose you can do a test with known wires and put it in proximity of each to see if there is a difference in alert sounds.

    A lot of useful info...Thank you. I just bought the Fluke 117. I guess it comes with probes, but I've heard they are low quality? Do you recommend a brand to buy other high quality wired testers? I'll be doing mostly home repairs. Probably better straight probes, alligator clips sound helpful, a protective case, anything else you can think of? Thank you.

      The main point of improvement is the wires do not get tangled up and silicone insulation helps do this. Home projects do not need such sharp tips so normal sharpness will do. I like these premium ones that came my one of my high end flukes: amzn.to/4hI7Utf

    Great video!, what setting do you use to check a hybrid battery? Like the one on a Prius. Thank you

    • @BeatTheBushDIY
      @BeatTheBushDIY  11 месяцев назад +1

      You use DC voltage to measure the 12V car battery and make sure leads on connected to the voltage mode instead of current or it'll blow the fuse. It is okay to reverse it as it'll just measure a negative voltage.

    Thanks for doing a review on the Fluke 117. I like the meter but don't care for the test leads that come with them. They are way too stiff to work with. Do you have a suggestion for better test leads? Thanks

    • @BeatTheBushDIY
      @BeatTheBushDIY  4 месяца назад

      The only test leads I purchased are Pomona ones long ago, I’m sure they have better and/or more flexible ones now.

    sir what is the difference of Fluke 117C to Fluke 117 . what is { C} means.

    • @BeatTheBushDIY
      @BeatTheBushDIY  11 месяцев назад +2

      One difference is 117 has a 40MOhm+ accuracy of 1.5%+2. 117C has a 5% + 2. It's a small difference but I would guess they changed it to use a different internal part for various reasons. However, they cannot change the part and call the product the same thing, hence a 'C' signifier. I've never needed to measure something so high in practice so it might not matter to most people.

    I’m not an electric person so sorry if this is a dumb question… I watched a video to test a part the person put it on 20,000 olm setting and got 1.75. What would this be on this meter? Thought it would let me select with the buttons. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    • @BeatTheBushDIY
      @BeatTheBushDIY  4 месяца назад

      Cheaper meters requires you to set a setting for reading different ranges of resistance (ohms). This one will auto range and change it based on what you measure. From mega ohms down to 0.1 ohms.

    0.9% accuracy is pretty high considering that the cheaper 15b or 17b has 0.5% accuracy

      Depends if the thing you are measuring is close in capacitance or resistance to when you touch the leads.
