its manipulation for sure, its common for parents to say "you're going to kill your mother/your father" when the kid does something they don't approve of, but they take it to the extreme and say "either have the bar mitzvah or kill your mother" which is an obvious manipulation tactic to make jason feel guilty and cave in

This is pedantic and dumb but Jason saying he travels with his computer took me right out when I first heard it, cause in 1981 (when act ii takes place) the smallest portable computer you could get was like two feet wide and 30 pounds and cost $1800. i couldn’t pay attention to the rest of the song cause I was just trying to understand why a twelve year old would be lugging an Osbourne I around lmao
