Christ, I remember seeing this in the cinema and before even sitting down I had the lowest expectations but I was never so happy to be so wrong. Especially with how well the Marvel movies endured since all the way to Endgame.
It's been a wild ride!

It’s honestly miraculous how they went from a low point in 2007 with Ghost Rider and Rise of the Silver Surfer to freaking Iron Man in 2008 (I’d honestly give some credit to Incredible Hulk as well, very overhated)
Even without his targeting systems, Obadiah still had some stormtrooper aim with those missiles.

I think the reason he didn’t die is because the blast literally charged the reactor instead of frying Tony’s heart like it did with Stane
@@WiiManEliteit does make a little sense. I know he hasn't made it to do that but he was on reserve power only. Stanes was on full/battle ready. So I'd say it charges first before overloading. Who is gonna overload quicker? Stanes. Plus Stanes is based on pre mk1 armour I bet Tony's suit is better and arcing the power in a less lethal way than the Iron Monger suit.
What saved Tony was that his armour was light so he got bounced off before lethal damage the bulkier and heavier stane suit had to endure the blast

@@rajkumar-rg5sw I also wonder if the less refined and primitive arc reactor Tony used was better able to handle the power since it had to be built at the macro level instead of the micro. Thicker components means better able to handle more charge so while it couldn't produce as much power, it was better able to handle spikes in power.

So powerful, it nearly tore a hole in a sky. What’s really ironic is how in the end, Iron Monger was killed by something he claimed was just “to shut the hippies up”.

Pepper Potts actually takes out more villains than Tony in his own movies. She kills Iron Monger in Iron Man 1 and Killian in 3, She also gets Justin Hammer arrested and never to show up in the MCU again in the second one.
She wasn't lying when her first line real line in the MCU was.
Potts: I do anything and everything Mr. Stark requires. Including, occasionally, taking out the trash.

It would be maximum overkill, but at the time he only had his lesser mini arc reactor to use as a fuel source.
@@DarknessXER The hulkbuster runs on several reactors and is not limited to just the chest based variant. It could easily host a larger reactor for increased output to take the weight.
Mach Dude I just said Tony only had the old weaker reactor at the time to use since Stane stole Tony’s good much more powerful arc reactor straight from his chest.
They would probably be flying all over from Stark Industries all the way to a junkyard fight somewhere and what will be amazing if Tony Stark trapped Iron Monger inside a garbage compactor and let's just say for a fan-made purpose The Punisher comes out of nowhere and helps dark and tells him know this is going to be my fun this time so the Punisher pulls the lever and Iron Monger is compacted into a cube of garbage

The suits looked stronger then Tony's infinity to endgame nanotech kind, but that is totally wrong. The bulkiness is sick though.
You’re complaining about magic plot in a universe that has 5 overpowered magic stones, time lords, gods, demons, an angry green giant and a talking tree.
Nano-technology is in development today and is probably the most believable thing in Marvel’s lore.

It could be argued Tony only got a small amount of the blast since he was thrown free, while Obadiah got blasted full on with the brunt of it, then fell into the reactor which exploded and finished him.

It might not have been the blast that killed him. Tony got pushed out of the way of the blast while Obadiah got the brunt of the attack. But even so, that may have only knocked him out or made him too weak, because he did happen to fall into the arc reactor and therefore be at the centre of the explosion straight afterwards. Also Tony was knocked out after the fight, even if he didn't look it when the reactor was blowing up, so guess we will never know lol.
Tony's face only was exposed. Obadiah had his whole body take the blast and the electric shock.

This scene is a good example of how *cool, & truly innovative it really was* ! Gone But Never Forgotten!! *The armored avenger** , aka *Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man* !!
The *Iron Monger* was, and is one of my *favorite villains* ! He's just a great example of a very powerful, evil character. Someone who has a conflict with the hero, & who really despises the hero in general. An intelligent, greedy villain. One who *replicated & duplicated* the *original Iron Man suit* &*moodified it* to his own liking. This *robotic, armed, armored exo-suit* was absolutely *badass* ! Back then and even today its just an *awesome, super powerful suit* . It could've really easily made, or broken the character. Im glad it was a high tech, dangerous armored exo-suit & not a damn power rangers robot. They could've very easily not taken this very seriously at all. It could've very well turned out very cheesey, & goofy! Im so happy that it didn't! We could've gotten a crappy, bad rip off exo-suit. We could've been dealing with a really bad, campy villain in a cringey armored suit that could have very easily been very much like one of the ones worn by some of the villains with exosuits from other movies, cartoons, & shows. Lets be thankful we didn't get an unoriginal, very uncool exo-suit that could have very easily been a power rager like villain, or a bad robotic suit with horrible cgi. It could've wnded up reminding everyone of a goofy superhero film, or some B-movie, but instead they made a classic! In the end it all worked out & the *armored exoskeleton suits were very, very epic*!! The ending was good too. It made sense, & was cool to see play out for the first time. Iron Man just managed to dodge the energy beam as it fried Obediah. It didn't even need to hit him dead on. Iron Monger was a very *powerful villain* , but that surge of energy through his suit, & body definitely, painfully, & swiftly killed him. His suit, & physical body simply couldn't withstand the blast of the raw power, & energy. And so he plunged into oblivion. *Awesome Flick* !!

but also, he was literally electrocuted by (i don't exactly remember the movie since it's been a while) a future-tech energy source and then engulfed in an explosion while the most important section of his body is fully exposed, so he definitely died

Without his targeting system it must be a nightmare to hold that gun steady considering how heavy and big Iron Monger suit is, that's why Oby quickly sweating and looks tired from just couple of shooting.
No, thats not what the targeting system does. It does fine tune aiming and locking on of weapons, it doesn't affect the mobility of the suit.
@@jordanhefley7365 The recoil god damn it, you ever shot a regular gun or bb gun? Let me explain all firearms will have a kick if you shot them, that's called recoil. Big gun like 30 cal or mini gun usually mounted or have a leg because normal human will have a hard time holding it steady while shooting it. That's why i said Obidiah can't hold his gun steady because the targeting system was ripped out. So before you try to be smartass, do your research and study or you gonna ended up humiliating yourself like stupid clown.
Also considering his mecha-arm is like 4m down to his left, it's like aiming from a different position you can't even see, and for the first time. I'm surprised he didn't shoot the ground beneath right him lol
