I was at the airport yesterday and followed this guide. Thanks a lot Teona. I want to add: They don't sell the travel cards in the arrival hall. Go outside, then turn right and walk until you reach the departure hall. You need cash to buy the card. Use the ATM at the orange bank counter to take out some Georgian Lira. Cash withdrawal with a credit card often comes with large fees, so use a debit card. Then take that cash and buy a travel card in the bank counter (2 or 3 Lari). You now have an inactive card. Use that card in the machine as you see in the video, to purchase a 1 day, 7 day or 30 day pass. BTW they did not accept this travel card at the cable car (even though it literally says so on the card itself...) you use a debit card there, at the turnstile. NB: You cannot buy a ticket on the bus.
Very helpful comment. Can we use banknotes (bills) to charge the card or only coins are accepted? If no, where should we get exchange banknotes for coins? 😁
I landed at the airport a week ago, I was told by the bank they no longer give out cards (not sure if that means they don't give them out to foreigners or anyone or just at that branch). They simply told me to use my visa on public transport so this is what I've been doing for the last week.

Is it possible to arrive at the railways station before 8:25 am since the first bus from the airport starts at 7:00 am? Because I have to catch the train to Zugdidi at 8:25 am.

You can book train from Tbilisi to Zugdidi and from Zugdidi till mestia you will need minibus.
It would be good if you buy ticket in advance

Thank you for the comment. Yes, now you can use just any visa or Mastercard directly in public transport

just worry about the airport bus time table. I will arrive the airport around 10 pm. Is it possible to get on the bus at that time?
Thank you for the comment. Yes 10 pm can be possible for airport bus
@@tbilisilocalguide-Teona Thank you for your information.
Hello Teona, how are you? I'm from Brazil and in september will be my 2nd time in Georgia, lovely country and people. This time i will travel with my wife. Is it possible to pay the ticket direct to the bus driver? Or just with card? Other question (sorry to ask here), in september will be easy to find Marshrutka from Tbilisi to Zugdidi between 3pm and 4pm? Thanks
Thank you for the comment and questions
That’s nice to hear that you plan to revisit Georgia 🇬🇪
You can’t pay with driver directly at airport bus so please use the card instead.
Yes, it will be easy to find Marshutkas till Zugdidi in September
Wish you nice trip and stay in Georgia!
Are taxis available in the morning, for example at 4 a.m. or do i have to book a transfer in advance? I read that bus line 337 runs only from 7 a.m. Thank u for your answer
Thank you for the comment. Taxis are available though I would advise to download Bolt after arrival and use it instead of taxi
Thank you for your useful information👌🏻 can we pay for two passengers using one card only ?
Thank you for the comment. Yes one card is enough if there is enough balance for 2 there
If you choose 1 day plan does that mean unlimited rides one day?
Thank you for the comment. Yes, it's unlimited rides as per your chosen package
See you again soon
Thanks for the comment and looking forward to our meeting and touring in Georgia again!
Hey , can you help how to book hotels in georgia before coming in the country ?that are affordable and great
Also wanted to know the sim purchase details
Thank you for the comment and question. Hotel location and season recommendation you can find here:
ruclips.net/video/U1ePjPUJpkw/видео.htmlsi=B-u1Eske0MPlVvFP
You can take sim at Magti at the airport or offices in the city. They have best coverage and diversity in packages as per your travel duration. the alternative is trying esim with remote activation
Is that bus go direct to the centre of the city ? Is there English translation also of each bus stops ? Thanks
Thanks for the comment. Yes it goes to the city center and train station as well. Look through the public transport App for more details on the stops
We are family of 6 and want to take a bus from the airport. Do we need to buy a card for each member of family? And can we pay for 1 trip and not a day? Thank you.
Thank you for the comment. No need many cards for all passengers . One is enough with balance on it. Sure you can pay for 1 single ride in the bus with the card
@@tbilisilocalguide-Teona Thanks. It’s because I saw min 1 day ticket on machine instead of 1 trip. So do l need to validate/beep 6 times with the same card in the bus? And if l pay with Visa do l also need to beep my Visa card 6 times in the bus? Thank you.

Hi. Thank you for your information. Can I ask you some question? How long it will take from the airport to the central railways by bus 337? Is it possible to arrive at the railways station before 8:25 am since the first bus from the airport starts at 7:00 am? Because I have to catch the train to Zugdidi at 8:25 am.
Yes its possible (the max time from airport till central railway station is 1 hour and 10 min) at this early morning there won't be the traffic time so you can try to catch the first bus

Thank you for the comment. Cash payment at public transportation and cable cars aren’t available. Only via cards (now it’s possible to pay directly with any visa or Mastercard )
we are 2 person can we use same card ?
Thank you for the comment. Yes, it’s possible to use the same card
Please the sound is so highest.
Thank you for the comment and advice
Thanks Teona for all these useful informations. It seems that the timetable of the bus 337 are 6:59 - 22:59. In a few days I would be in your country. My flight will arrive at 3:00 AM... Is the taxi the unique solution to go to the city? If yes, can you give me an idea of the transport cost by taxi? My accommodation is close to freedom square... And to pay the taxi, what are the kinds of payment we can use, cash, visa... !? Thanks by advance for your reply.
That's great that you plan to explore Tbilisi in nearest future! While the flight time is late for public transport, I'd advice to download Bolt application that has option of cash payment as well (Not only via card). You should expect tariff abt. 20,- euro (equivalent in GEL). Alternatively, you can ask your hotel to arrange transfer for you. Hope that info looks helpful. 🙂Have a nice trip to Georgia!
@@tbilisilocalguide-Teona OK noted... Thanks for your prompt reply 👍. I plan to stay more or less 3 weeks to Georgia. Certainly, I am going to contact you when I am there. See you 🙂
@@jeanriou207 Have a nice stay in Georgia!
is the bus available until midnight?
Thanks for the question.
The airport bus finishes operating at 23:00 pm
@@tbilisilocalguide-Teona thanks for answering, i will arrive tomorrow around 8pm so i was wondering if i can take the bus. you are so helpful!
@@lenaparel thank you for the comment
You can try airport bus 337 then!
I will arrive at 12 midnight at tbilisi airport, are there sim card shop, currency shop and any bus from airport to old town? I would appreciate if you can help me, if not bus late night anything cheaper lik £10
Thank you for the comment
SIM card/currency will be open though it’s rather late for airport bus 337. The best option will be after activating your SIM card, downloading the Bolt app and book your taxi ride till old city that way
Thank you so much for your help
Very informative and thanks for the sharing.
I have 3 questions.
1. What's the difference between the blue card and orange card?
2. If I'm traveling with family. Do I need to purchase 1 card for each person or can I just buy one card and tap for each family member that will be traveling with me?
3. Can I use the orange card for funicular and cable car?
Thanks in advance
Thanks for the feedback and for the questions!
1) both are accaptable for city transportation (blue is new design)
2) the main is to have the enough balance on the card. (this card costs only less than 1,-euro)
3) you can use this card for the access to Narikala fortress in old city though another local card is needed for Tbilisi funicular tram and for park attractions /activities 💳🙂
