Klaus Makela is a present from heaven, really a great gift to the Classic music. We can see how he feels the whole symphony. He dives into the orchestra and take us together. Its my first time to watch this concert to the end.He holds us with his enthusiasm and youth. Lovely, totally delightful. His name should be Klaus Amazing!!!❤
This is exquisite! All of the comments about the performance of the players and the conducting--not to mention the momentous score itself--are absolutely on target: this is a keeper of a Ninth! Moreover, the camera direction is superb, and the director clearly studied the score, which is not always the case with video recordings. The sound is also very well recorded . . . supple when needed, and punchy when needed. Bravi tutti!
Beethoven. The one and only. Universal. A gift of hope in mankind. With him, we can believe in future. A composer becoming deaf imagining this music. A forever gift for mankind. We just have to deserve such a gift. Let’s not disappoint him ❤❤❤❤
¡Aleluya!

This year is 2024. Today is Christmas. I take many things. I bought iPhone 15 Pro max. Good pictures. Good sound. Thank you very much. Merry Christmas. 🎅
I really don't understand, what is so interesting in the arpeggio-like passages and the scales that the strings play up and down during the second theme of the First movement, so that they should be put so much forward in terms of balance?? As a result, the woodwinds sink down behind them at that moment and the melody simply goes to hell...Also, why the rhythmically 'small' notes in first theme should be played with such short strokes: this makes the theme sound empty, mechanic and expressionless, and thus deprives it of dramatic emotional resonance and depth. The dynamic forcing cannot compensate that. The slow movement is also very sustained and constricted as an expressive amplitude. This is a music stepping with one leg into the Romantic epoque and aesthetics. In my opinion, it should not be played that dry, no matter what historically-informed highbrow 'experts' claim.
Can’t you just enjoy Beethoven’s art ? Different interpretations, different way of impersonate it. But Beethoven is there. He’d appreciate all these musicians playing their own way. This is not a contest for the best 9 th symphony conducting. This is just musicians enjoying doing this absolute masterpiece. This 9th symphony is for everybody. You don’t like it. It’s not academic. Ok But who cares ? Joy. Joy. Freude über alles. For all mankind. This is the opinion of a 66 yo Beethoven fan as I became at 8 yo by listening to the 5 th symphony live on radio in 1966 for the first time. Just sharing simple joy This is the will of Beethoven. And it’s still the same now. 200 years after.
@@didzouille I appreciate and respect your democratic concerns about art making. They would definitely hold true if the conductor and orchestra at hand were some unprofessional music lovers that have gathered together to enjoy Beethoven's music by performing it. But these guys here are professionals, and when we speak about professional music making, there are certain requirements and principles that need to be present and implemented. Unfortunately, I don't hear them to be present and implemented to a very high degree in that interpretation. Certainly, it is not bad but is not an extraordinary one. I don't want to sound elitarian or snobbish, this simply is the reality of professional art. As I said in another comment here, Makala definitely is talented and a good musician but does not really possess the superstar qualities he was granted, at least not yet. That is what I think and believe in, sorry about that.
Klaus is still young for this kind of music, he often lacks musical depth, especially in the slow parts. Plus, the large number of concerts does not allow one to really penetrate into the musical material.
Well, this my take: I stumbled upon this young man conducting Mahler’s 3rd (my favorite!) and I literally did a double-take when I saw how young he is. What may lack now he will acquire with time. As for me, bravo, Maestro!!!
The balance of the piece’s character is off & not stable. Even though the representation of it is probably the most accurate attempt. But I don’t blame the audacity of this attempt, because it is simply almost impossible to meet Beethoven’s own standards when it comes to the exact representation along with the overall balance of its portrayal. I would rather say that the more original an interpretation is represented to becoming closer to Beethoven’s own way, it becomes substantially that much more difficult to play & make everything balance together effortlessly. This can only be done by another Beethoven, who knows every aspect of it’s creation & essence. But still, we are at least getting closer to understanding Beethoven in 2025! But still, we’re not yet caught up with his real genius.. It is just so ahead of our time! Perhaps, one day we may meet that standard, or we may just never get there. We can only get closer to it, but I don’t think we can ever meet Beethoven’s own standard. For this, there must be another Beethoven! He is just infinitely beyond every time. In fact, It is just timeless to be honest. We can never be another Beethoven in order to meet his exact needs & the way he wanted it to be done..

I'm reluctant to criticise, but inclined to agree with you.
The slow part has a very fast tempo, the dreaminess in it has disappeared, what a fuss and running around.
Where is your version ?
Please show us your perfect version.
The so-called fast tempo made me think of a pair of lovers dancing in a hall.
