This is a deeply captivating performance. Refreshingly unusual at certain moments; as a critic once said to me "like it or not, whenever it's Currentzis with his orchestra you cannot ignore it!" :)

Conducting off the charts. I love this guy. He’s so passionate toward Beethovens legacy.

Oh, wow. I mean... words don't do it. I'm actually a classical musician by profession and I'm completely blown away. No praise can even come close to reflecting what this performance embodies... and on so many levels. The messiness of the earthly ephemeral nature of things enmeshed in the mysteriousness of the eternal and infinite nature of things, all perfectly portrayed in an hour or so of earth time. There are mathematical issues with Darwinism, the particles of reductionism are giving way to the amplituhedron, space/time no longer appears to be fundamental... basically, science is a process of both elimination and discovery, but music... music like this contains the truth of everything. Absolutely everything.

Not a professional but I played for well over a dozen years. And I would not look forward to having to stand while playing for that long!

Selbstverliebtheit pur. Dabei wäre WENIGER MEHR

Stand up with the musicians whilst listening to this.
These musicians are playing as if their lives depend on it,
and for sure after the events of November 5th, 2024 the life of the planet depends on such commitment to 'Freude'.
    Tie Optional.

So geht Kapellmeister. Wer mich fesselt heutzutage ist SARASTE. Bescheiden, unaufdringlich, verbunden mit wirklicher Kompetenz.... Leider, leidet eine Seltenheit .... Achten Sie mal drauf!!!!

I love this metal cover of Beethovens 9 😂. Nah, i really think that this and J.parvi are next level interpretations. I do have to say that is suspect that there is some audio leveling in post production (i have no problem with that). For example, that 2nd violín pedal note in the first movement…. I doubt they could have pulled that volume live, i think that they pulled up the fader in the mixing room while editing. I may be wrong, and if i am, then more congratulations to the performers. 🎉

How much energy there is in these musicians, choirs and their director. The powerful ending never fails to move me, even a girl in the chorus at minute 1:01:50 almost dances to this joyful and moving ending.
