RE Engine is truly mysterious. On one hand, it has some absolutely astonishing visuals, particularly the character models. But on the other hand it showcases hilariously bad textures and oh my god the screen space reflections are just an abomination. I hope one day Capcom can iron out all these issues

That's because the scope is a true scope, unlike most video game scopes that zoom in the entire game view, the re4 scopes actually render the game a second time at a lower resolution, allowing the view inside the scope to be zoomed in while the view around it is not. You can tell because the scope actually displays a lower lod and framerate than the world still visible around its edges. Hey Alex, in terms of the specular highlight problem, I found it to be almost completely relieved by disabling bloom with the dlss mod during my playthrough. The Intel VERY MUCH struggled here even on the RE4 optimized driver. With the rain on high and regular use of a scope (The scope is very problematic on Intel GPUs for some reason), I was seeing mid-20 fps, and around the 40s on my RTX 2070. Most of the time the game runs great on both GPUs, maybe 5-10% better on Intel depending on scenario, but some of those areas just unnecessarily destroy performance.

Who the fuck would play on a steam deck? Dudes....steam deck is not cool and you're not "more mature" for buying a steam deck over an OLED Switch. You are better off buying a PS5 over a Steam Deck and the price difference is not huge. You steam deck kids are hilarious. Your little low-end hand held PC trying to run AAA graphics intense games where you end up sub 30fps with 40 minutes of battery life. If you want a real handheld, buy a Switch OLED. You'll get 5-7 hrs of battery life out of it (way more than you need) and the games look good enough and it's not as massive and bulky and the OLED screen is WAYYYYY SUPERIOR to the steam deck. Anything else, just buy a PS5 for 500 bucks and enjoy gaming in 4k with ray tracing. It's not that expensive. Steam Deck is a major disappointment. A lot of you got scammed into thinking you were going to basically have a super powerful Switch. Nope, you got a low/mid range handheld crappy PC screen that has to be tethered to an outlet to get any real playtime out of it because the battery doesn't match the wattage output of the system. Trashy product.

The soft image while upscaling is due to the game engine not performing viewport jitter, which is necessary for high quality temporal upscaling. This is something that the mod specifically adds and even offers an adjustment for it. For what it's worth, God of War and Uncharted both have this same problem (other games as well, these are just some high profile examples.)

Chromatic aberration is an optical effect that has long been considered a flaw in lenses and cameras. However, in the world of video games, this effect can actually enhance the player's experience. When used correctly, chromatic aberration can make a game more immersive and visually striking.
Firstly, chromatic aberration creates a sense of depth perception by exaggerating the distance between objects. This can be particularly useful in first-person shooter games where accuracy and attention to detail are crucial. In these types of games, chromatic aberration can help the player differentiate between objects at varying distances and allow for better aim and strategy.
Additionally, chromatic aberration adds a level of realism to the game's graphics. This effect mirrors the way light travels in the real world, creating a more authentic and believable environment. For example, if a player is exploring an abandoned warehouse, chromatic aberration can create a dusty and grimey atmosphere that further immerses the player into the game's world.
Furthermore, chromatic aberration can be used to highlight important visual elements in a game. By distorting the colours of certain objects, players can more easily focus on what they need to, such as a key item in a puzzle game. This can also be used to simulate different lighting conditions, such as the way sunlight filters through the leaves of a tree, making for a more dynamic gameplay experience.
While it's true that chromatic aberration can be overused and become distracting, when used tastefully and in moderation, it has the potential to greatly enhance the player's experience. It can create a sense of realism, improve depth perception, and guide players' attention. As the gaming industry continues to evolve, we can expect to see more innovative uses of chromatic aberration in modern video games.

The biggest issue with the crash is that other RE engine games will run just fine if you go over the VRAM limit. Yes, you'll get hitches, but in a lot of cases, the hitches will only happen in very specific scene changes, and some users may be fine with these once in a while (going 1GB over in RE8 has very little performance impact in all but very few scenarios).
