In my Renaul Super 5 i have next inicials first hose=TANK second hose=CARBURETOR BOWL and to the my charcoal canister a have valve and up hose is DIST VACCUM and down hose is PCV
This video was PERFECT. I have an old fixer upper that is getting 1/2 the fuel mileage it is supposed to and is running rough at idle. This is the first video I have found that shows an old canister like mine (1986 Renault) and explained what it does and why it fails. THANKS!!
Very Good Video, My intake vent line from the charcoal canister was restricted causing a strong fuel smell all over the car at idle. There was No Check Engine light but I diagnosed the problem and clear the line.
Could something back there also make a squealing noise? Mine does and then my idle drops very low. I already replaced the purge valve. Any thoughts anyone? Maybe the cannister itself?
PERFECT VIDEO. i am trying to figure out how to connect mine an on old datsun and everything online talks about "the computer knows and will activate solenoids. Very annoying.
I know this is like super late but I'll answer anyways. No this will not prevent the vehicle from running for as long the hoses are not damaged. If the hoses are damaged l. It can cause some serious rough idling. The canister can legitmently not work at all at doing its job and your vehicle will still run just with -%10 up to -%50 to your fuel economy because the fuel vapors are used as fuel as well. When the vapors are not used. Fuel economy is heavily negitively impacted.

What happens if intake fuel port and purge port connections are interchanged??? This is serious question. 😐

@@SoLowKasparit is never too late for sharing your knowledge for a later researcher. It was useful for me, from the future.
🎉👍
Does anyone know why there are two lines going to the intake manifold?
In the diagram the top one is a suction line that opens the valve. The lower one is the line that feeds the vapors into the intake.
There is sometimes a line going to the bowl vent port of the carburetor in addition to the standard purge line.
Podrias hacer el mismo video en español latino?? Please..

How does purge valve know when to open?
When there is sufficient negative pressure inside the intake.
