why is the talk box sound so freakin difficult to emulate? i mean if we know e=mc2 why the hell cant i sound exactly like roger troutman if i want to? lol
The Problem is, that the normal talkbox uses your Mouth as a filter to create that sound. And that is pretty hard to emulate digital. Thats as much as I know :)
A "true" talk box sound is hard/almost impossible to emulate because it's fundamentally an analog process, achieved in a specific order. You play an instrument to act as your "voice", which is then fed through a speaker that funnels into a tube that you place in your mouth. Moving your mouth without actually making any noise yourself, you are now essentially letting the instrument you're playing replace your vocal cords. The sound that comes out of your mouth is then recorded back into a mic. All of the cool effects we can achieve with software these days can really only "modify" our own voices AFTER we sing into the mic, and not vice-versa. The closest thing software-wise to a talk box would be something like the well-known VOCALOID suite--where you can synthesize somebody singing with a software instrument as their "voice", but even then it takes a lot of effort to make it sound like a real person singing naturally. Hope this helps, cheers
@@MidnightDubstep i dead ass was just about to comment this, i used MDA talkbox back in ableton 9 but when i switched to able10 i lost it since i onlt had 64bit and i felt like making westcoast shit and been looking for plugins but so far what im getting at these videos NO ONE knows how a talkbox sounds lol
Dude, I've had VocalSynth for years and didn't know the potential. I even have VocalSynth2. I'm going to write and record a song tonight. No excuses. I'll send you a link so you can hear the finished product. Thxs to you. Hell yeah!
Wow, that thing is beautiful. Very talkbox-ish, just with more lows etc. Loving that clarity too. A lot of vocal processors don't have good voice preservation, but this does. Izotope makes some dope plugs, that's for sure. Great video man.
can you use this with midi guitar or midi keyboard? i cant figure out how to use the talkbox with my midi even if its in the mixer slot where my midi is routed to.
To simulate it would need a plugin to simulate a speaker firing into an infinite moving space created by your mouth and not come from a direct synth :( They'll get close one day.
where can i find it .. when i copy and paste it another product shows up and it is not like what i see you teaching.. so where can i find what you are showing us?
i really wish you had played keys for the vocal synth talk box, or had someone else do it because you are not demonstrating to me how it sounds traditionally on a g-funk type track, which is why i am watching this. i just couldn't get the right idea by setting it to autoscale like an autotune would work.
@@MrDifferentTV that is helpful, i actually learned about this plug-in by seeing videos of V2 and i assumed they worked the same. thanks for taking the time to do a review all the same.
Can you try to make the original ginuwine - pony bass with a vocoder ? i get close to it but i cant get it right i would appreciate if you could make a tutorial.
That is not a talk box effect. The talk box is to modulate a voice, it's to use the voice to modulate and instrument, like a guitar, or a keyboard. This video tells me nothing about whether this plugin can be used for that. The idea is to make something like a guitar sound like it's coming out of someone's mouth, in other words, the idea is not to modulate the voice, it's to modulate the guitar or other instrument with the voice.
No disrespect. I am not hearing a Talk box as I know them. Sure there are the middle of the road units, whereas the mic plugs into a pedal. Some of them are o.k. Thats the route you need if you do not have a P.A. In the event , you do have a P.A. (Depending on how much you use it (Some people use their talk box briefly on 1-3 songs. Which is barely worth it. They cost 150-200.00-not cheap. All in all what you are doing is certainly better than nothing. As we know something is better than nothing. Best of lck in your quest-Shawn
A real talkbox is a speaker inside of a bout and you play a sound through it and by using the movement of your mouth you can form words. This is a talkbox like effect of course if you want a real talkbox you got to buy one but this a way to get a simpler sound. Hope that answers your question 😁😁😁

In my opinion the only plug in that's close to a talkbox is MDA Talkbox and it's free

Could you please make a tutorial on how you have everything set up/ routed? I want to use it with a mic and midi keyboard. Thanks!
MORE VOCALSYNTH VIDEOSSSS
Did you ever actually have both the compuvox and talkbox effects on at the same time??
That's what I thought lol
Turning up the retune speed and using a ribbon mic sounds way better with this effect.
