Living the dream my brother. You are living the dream-thank and praise God. I'm rejoicing with you as I live vicariously through your awesome videos. I love it.
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed. It’s always good to see healthy amounts of fish on the rigs we have left. Unfortunately many of the rigs are getting completely removed.
BTW: it was 100% the right call to slow everything down and be very careful about retrieval of your fish and spear. Safety first; and as soon as one guy asks for help or a hand, you know it's because they have something sketch underwater and everything else comes to a screeching halt until the safety issue is done with. Awesome crew to have with you.
Loving the content sir! Nothing makes a RUclips spearing video better than quality HEB products. Texas Tough foil and those Flavor Bomb Cherry Tom’s. Haha!
That is some beautiful water, I sure miss it, I was hard hat diver and did many rigs jobs from Furchon to Padre Island blocks. That was back when AOL was the big deal. There is so much marine life along those rigs and structure, someone always brought poles or spearguns, we had a blast during down time. Like that panga set you got, real simple, cuts through the water like butter, and lots of room for stowing gear. With the crazy wind we get in Texas, the weather windows are far and few, anytime you can make it out there, live it up. If you ever do guided trips let me know. Stay safe!
Oh my...18:48...more than "sketchy"... And you know there's at least one Bull around. GREAT to watch...best "reality" show. 22:32... God loves a grateful heart 😉. 24:00... He took on some battle scars. Got to have something to eat. What a hog! 👋 Thankful for the happy ending and the cook portion 🙌 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You definitely pushed the limits on that cobia! I've caught them on kayak w hook & line and it pulled 300 lbs of yak (+me and gear) for 20 minutes. I would worry that cobia on your reel would entangle you in the structure. You were smart to tie him off and take several dives to retrieve him.
Wow that very sketchy, I would not have been able to get that cobia out of there! Definitely had some luck in your favor on that one man, congrats on your first cobia on polespear
When that cobia first swam up and got close I thought she was big! I figured you were just gonna think “eh she’s big and sounds good” 😂 That pole spear in the rig would make me way nervous. Especially having to go down in the murk and grab it. Fuck getting tangled, that hungry bull shark darting around is all that would be running In my head
The panga is the killer, in Latin America it handles very rough sea well. How far do you go offshore on this boat? Do you have any plan B if the motor stops working? Nice video though.
Two things that are incomprehensible. One, after finally getting the Cobia up to the surface you left him in the water for a really long time with your legs dangling next to him. A Bull shark could get a chunk of your Cobia and your right foot for flavoring in the blink of an eye. I have seen them attack fish on the surface next to a boat. Second, apparently you put the fish back into the water after removing the spear which is also sketchy. When you add this to shooting a large strong fish with a Pole spear at depth it becomes a poster child for unsafe practice. Maybe in the future you could highlight some safer spearfishing practices just for a change of pace.

haha all I need is something to get me out there! Pangas can take some slop. Many believe you need a big fancy offshore boat to get out and enjoy offshore. I guess it depends on how much you can tolerate some spray and a bumpy ride..
All depends, I do a lot of different stuff so there’s not really a usual distance offshore. Anywhere from right off the beach to 70 miles is where I’ve taken the panga.
60 frames per second for sure. I like ‘wide’ but is personal preference. As far as resolution 1080, 2.7k or 4K, but the higher the res the faster the battery will drain.

They have rigs as close as just a couple of miles off the coast of LA. However, having good vis at the rigs would be almost never and they really wouldn’t be deep enough to hold a good amount of big fish
@@johnduvalcaffery a lot of different things factor into the visibility. They do make charts that you can pick up that label rig blocks and platforms and other miscellaneous fish habitat. What part of the state are you trying to dive? Venice, Grand Isle/Fourchon, Cameron? If you go out of veince you can get to deeper water sooner. Deeper water usually holds bigger fish(not always). Really need to watch the weather and how much rain is coming through this will all play an affect on vis. I’ve been to rigs that are blue one weekend and have a 30’ murk layer the next.
