    Oh my! Ok, you completely SOLD me on buying one! So thankful that I saw your two videos about it. Thank you for that. I'm thinking it might be perfect for Lasagna or even Manicotti. Certainly for a one-dish breakfast casserole bake up. Maybe for Baked Fish or maybe for Baked Fruit Fritters like Apples or Bananas. Endless possibilities really.

    I also have been surprised about how well this oven and gas stove combination works for you! I used to do coffee cakes in camp, using a metal folding oven. That was pretty fiddly to set up, and keeping an even heat in the oven took a lot of attention and periodic adjustment of the flame.

    Love the vids Andy, have you thought using an old disk brake of a pushbike to span the gap between the pot stand? That way you can heat your mug without any risk of spillage. I got an old one from a cycle repair shop for the donation of a couple of quid, whilst I was there I also got a couple of old innertubes to make into ranger bands, better than any elastic band I've ever used.
    keep up the good work 🙂

    I'm not sure about sharing with others 🤣 The Omni looks very impressive so far. I'll be interested in the Trangia version as I find the Trangia is a little light on heat and you probably only get 15(ish) minutes on a full tank. In saying that, the proof of the pudding is in the Omni 😜

    Don't know if anyone else has said it but put the wire rack into the oven first and sit the silicone mould on it and you should avoid a burnt bottom. Great video. 👍🏼

    I`ve been looking at those Omnia Ovens for about 6 months Andy, they do look like an ideal camp oven but I still think they are very expensive for what they are ! 😀

    • @kentsurvivalgearreview586
      @kentsurvivalgearreview586  2 года назад +3

      So far it has worked really well, I guess the cost is down to how much you would use it though :)

      The value in this equipment is not for what it is (materials) but for what it can do off-grid. I imagine that is factored into the price as well. I am a fan of tableside/countertop restaurant-quality stoves. I like the stability of the larger base and the packability of the tube-shaped gas cylinders. A stand-alone windscreen is also very helpful on windy days. Put this in your vehicle next time you go camping (NOT Backpacking/trekking!).

    • @carmenmartinez2882

      I use my Omnia at home too, much easier to clean than my regular oven and gets up to the desired temperature way faster. I’ve cooked all sorts of things in it. At first I thought it was a bit expensive but honestly I’m glad I got it.

    • @dg6570

      May I add my 3 cents worth (inflation vs 2 cents!)? I have had an Omnia oven for about 7 years now. It's absolutely wonderful! I can use it to bake a smaller loaf of bread, make a casserole, bake a cake or cinnamon rolls, etc...all without turning on my regular oven which sucks up propane at a prodigious rate. I can also bake with the Omnia in the summertime and it doesn't heat up my house like the regular oven does. I have even made "rustic style" pies in it by simply rolling out the pie crust and using the pan as a guide to cut out the circles. I then place thinly sliced fruit and spices in the crust lined pan, add any filling and spices, lay strips of thin pie crust over all, and bake. For cookies, I simply press the dough into the bottom of the pan and bake it. When done, turn out onto bread board and cut into cookie wedges. Very simple. When we had to evacuate because of wildfires, I grabbed it to take with us. People were amazed at what all I could cook/bake with the Omnia and a one burner camp stove. If you can afford it, I would highly encourage you to give it a go. Good luck!

    The regular cast iron Dutch oven is 1) much cheaper 2) more versatile in so many ways 3) easier to clean and 4) heats much more evenly.

    • @slinca
      @slinca 3 месяца назад

      The weight of cast iron can be prohibitive for people with limited abilities. This being much lighter is a suitable option for some.

  • @tuttobicci

    I guess you could always turn it upside down and have the slightly more cooked side face up. I think with a bit of imagination it could be a really versatile bit of kit.

    Andy, if you want another handy gadget for your Omnia stove have a look around for the STYYL Silicone Mould 3 Piece Set. They used to sell them on Amazon uk but they seem to really only be available from the de site at the moment. They allow 3 different foods to be cooked at the same time :)

      @twintwotastic3743 2 года назад +1

      @@kentsurvivalgearreview586 I don't have the muffin mould but would think in theory it could not only be used for cakes and muffins etc but could also be used to cook various veg etc especially if it were a meal for 1? Might have to invest and have a play. The only downside with the Omnia is the accessories are expensive. Although one of YT channels featuring Omnia hacks have successfully used large donut mould in theirs circ £7 a mould to save money with the sweet / savoury dual mould possible problem. Have fun :) barneey

    Thanks for the videos on this oven as I am still working through the process for mine. I am still trying to figure out what stoves it works with and what doesn't as burning the bottom has been a frequent issue for me. The best I have found so far is my Trangia burner attached to a Firebox stove.
