Damn. From what you're saying you're relatively new to magic so I understand why, but getting a 2 mana rebate on a spell is not a crazy interaction compared to the ammount of weird and clever interactions you can achieve in magic. You have much to experience ;) One of my personal favorite crazy and rules-specific interactions between 2 enchantments is one that simply prevents you from losing the game, but losing cards whenever your life goes down, and the 2nd one preventing you from taking damage, replacing it with removing cards from your grave until there is none left, in which case it causes you to lose the game. The 2nd enchantment mostly prevents your life from going down, but causes you to lose the game eventually, and the 1rst one prevents this from causing you to lose the game but has no downside because your life usually doesn't go down - because of the 2nd one. It makes you immortal. fun fact: you can even have a negative life ammount, and still not lose the game because of this interaction ;)
I should start by saying thank you for your comment. I just think it’s crazy how well all three of the cards work within the deck I’ve built. I can essentially play whatever I want for the regular casting cost from my library or graveyard and get the discover trigger as well. You’re not wrong. Two free floating mana isn’t crazy. It’s just the overall synergy of the cards and my deck in specific that I find crazy. And I draft all my decks so it’s cool to stumble across lines/ interactions I didn’t see before. I know I have a 9 lives play mat but I’m more of fan of winning by damage and doing battle in the board. I think combos and game mechanic manipulation are cool but to me personally they are a bit gimmicky. I don’t personally think it’s fun to play in a style similar to having a nine lives and then give it shroud and stop the counters or find a way to bounce it while your life total not mattering. I prefer to “fight for the win” as it were. If my life total is zero I think I should lose. I love watching turn 0 wins or OTK combos but they aren’t the decks or play style for me
@@mashedmentality thats true, just make sure to put one dinosaur in there that can destroy one of my enchantments or cause damage to be unpreventable ;) that will allow your damage strategy to go through my loss prevention strategy if we ever meet on the field ;)
@@Bubbles41412 I love a good “damage can not be prevented”. Really hoping to pull some Bonecrusher Giant cards or go all in with a Banefire or an Alchemist Gambit for one go big or go home play. If we do cross paths on the play mats then I hope your first seven is your best seven but it isn’t better than mine👌😂
I loved the 60 cards version of this deck I built a but more because of how fast and efficient it was but I’m having a lot of fun with this Pantlaza build I made with it. Dinos are sick and I’m so glad they got so much love with Ixalan
@@mashedmentality yeah I hear you but I can't handle the game cause people don't play for fun, only to win so I just focus on commander by playing every card from jurassic park with my Morophon, the Boundless as my Commander. Goes bloody deep especially when people laugh that I am also playing that poison dart frog. It's my only common creature in my deck lol 😆
If you're looking for extra cards to do what Hulking Raptor does, here's some options: Eladamri's Vineyard // Frontier Siege // Magus of the Vineyard // Overgrowth - If all you care about is getting that GG to reduce the cost, these cards can do basically that same job. Mana dorks - While the majority of mana dorks only tap for one mana, there are several that tap for GG or even GGG, though most of those aren't dinosaurs and would dilute that aspect somewhat. Regal Behemoth - Monarch should be easy to keep in a stompy deck, and it doubles all your mana production while it's out, giving you a much higher potential return in exchange for a tiny bit more inconsistency. Zacama - This one requires a decent amount of setup, so I don't think it will always outperform the Raptor in terms of mana ramp, but if you're running any of the Karoo lands then you're getting even more mana back per untap. Not to mention those activated abilities are really nice to help control the board, and the 9 toughness makes for a fantastic Discovery value. Nyxbloom Ancient // Virtue of Strength - Lumping these together because they fulfill similar roles: creating triple the mana you would otherwise produce. Virtue has more restrictions, but is slightly harder to interact with. Great Henge - Super expensive, but amazing in any green deck. Probably worth skipping if budget is a primary concern though. Defiler of Vigor - Turning all your green pips into Phyrexian pips is amazing, especially when you have access to cards like Verdant Sun's Avatar, Zacama, and Ghalta & Mavren to hell offset that life loss. Even still, 40 life is a lot, and you can dish out a ton of damage to outpace your own life loss! There's almost certainly other options too, but that's what I could come up with after a couple minutes of digging. Hope it helps!
First off I just appreciate you taking the time to watch the video let alone leave a comment so thank you for that. I personally don’t like building decks without having drafted the cards first. I actually just recent bought the paper deck of one I made and played on arenas for a while and it feels a bit odd. I really enjoy the drafting process of building so armed the knowledge of these cards I will be definitely be on the lookout for them when cracking packs. I want to start purchasing singles at my LGS to support outside of just buying packs so maybe single hunting could be something I become interested in. This is a very cool way to look at the interaction. I really just noticed it because of…. Convenience? I have a handful of mana dorks, mana rocks, and searches. I don’t necessarily need a way to help me cast Invasion nor was I specifically using Hulking raptor for it, I was just running a mock game by myself and happened to notice the interaction and wanted to share it because I thought it was neat and could be handy to use for a free tutor and play essentially because hulking just gives you floating mana rather than you needing to tap for it. But it needs to be on the field in the first place. I really like your suggestions of multiplying the mana I’m already producing because obviously I’m playing a lot of higher cmc creatures but with the big discovery triggers from Pantlaza it really isn’t too hard to hit multiple big Dino’s in a row, it’s just luck on what you get really cause it could be a mana rock or something else. I will look up these suggestions to find what sets they are from and hopefully find them in my future pack openings. I really appreciate your comment and suggestions. Very cool
Defiler of vigor only lets you pay 2 life for 1 pip per spell. Defiler of Vigor rulings pulled from mtgassist: 2022-09-09: You may only pay the additional cost once per permanent spell.
I like the searching! From what I know this would be called synergy. An interaction is normally something that is repeatable or occurs with more frequency in a duel; an example I can think of is Tendershoot dryad and Chatterfang for a reference, anything further than that is a straight up combo. Edit. If you could put creatures to the top of your deck you can get them with commander's ability things like: Forerunner of the Empire/Primal Command/worldly tutor
Hey thanks for the comment! I agree with you. I believe synergy is definitely the more befitting word. I was just excited, recorded on my phone real quick and posted 😂 when talking about my decks or cards in the future I’ll be more wary
@garra277 I wouldn’t mind. I only have two commander decks because I just got into the format. Every paper deck I’ve built has been from packs I’ve opened so really they’re just all self drafts I suppose. I’ve had some input with my friends on how I should try to go about building my commander decks and playing against them has helped me make the decks better by tweaking them over time. I’m genuinely surprised this video has gotten this much attention but I do want to share more of my magic collection and my decks because I have been very luck with my packs and have been able to build some fun decks because of it. Really appreciate you stopping by to comment on the video
i see pantlaza way too fucking often nowadays and the green dino's are so fucking pushed that i made a baral chief of compliance deck just to put againts this deck every time i see it
Thank you for the comment by the way😎 Is the purpose behind your Baral deck to just counter control to get the draw advantage? I guess if you’re playing it in commander you can’t really burn with red for aggro but stun counters maybe to stall if not fine just countering? I just recently got into commander myself because of my friends I play with at home and this deck was one I made out of my Gruul dinosaur deck. Believe it or not I didn’t know there was even a pre con with her until after I built this one. I mean her ability is basically what I built my deck around originally so it just worked out. Having the spells be countered constantly would do a lot to my deck for sure. I have some recursion spells but if you counter them as well then, still stuck. Plus if you’re playing with your own way to keep pulling your cards back into your deck as a work around to the constant discard then you basically just infinite stall if no one has graveyard hate
@mashedmentality barel is counterspell tribal with monoblue reanimator as the wincon stack the grave then reanimate everything but I mostly build it cous I got salty at the like 15 dinosaur decks I see at my lgs and how much stronger green is thrn every other collour nowadays so its mostly a salt brew haha
@@angelovanderstad2264 are you reanimating from your grave or from any ones? Cause if you were able to smack them with their own Dino’s later for the win that would be absolutely disrespectful 😂

Funniest part: Pantlaza isn't the best commander in that precon, nor the SECOND best commander IN THAT BOX.
@user-op7pm6tx1j it’s not a precon. It’s a deck I built from cracking packs
I love pantlaza, the value he provides is nothing short of amazing. Better than gishath
