Hey dude its a real shame that you got in my eyes "ripped off" I have seen some great products for the back of your truck not your trailer but I get your point and I'm glad you gave it a shot. Good luck with the next purchase!
If you did have power in the trailer, couldn’t you buy a conveyor belt to the truck and use that to help push the trash back or will it not work? The belt would be fixed into the trailer so when dumping it won’t fall out?
You could up sale bulky items, 2-5 bucks an item and have the customer book the pickup so you're not overwhelmed each week. Yes. Waste management was getting the same deal, it's standard to have local trash weighted and dumped locally. Larger cities is where we'd use transfer stations. Logistics and record keeping is basically how I understand it
How DARE you decide to use garbage liners and try to simplify each stop to tossing a single bag instead of going through the struggle of grabbing 28 walmart shopping bags filled exclusively with wasp nests! People just don't want to see someone losing a bit of money for convenience, you should automatically be pinching every single penny you can for maximum profit! All sarcasm of course, love putting on one of your videos with my morning coffee :)
For $8000 I'll build you a tipper arm that not only dumps +1000 pounds. It will also be able to dump at any spot down the side of the trailer. You won't have to touch a single bag.
Now that is an offer that Brad should be accepting. You could name it the Bradly Tipper, in honor of Brad who will be using it, from Copper Creek Cuts!
@M.TTT. If you're serious about it. Then we can get in contact. Believe I can build them for around $2500 in materials, including a gasoline engine powered pump with valve body and a hydraulic cooler. It could run all day. Wouldn't have to worry about duty cycles. Could mount right to the top rail of the trailer and roll down the entire side. Wouldn't take much of a fabricator to mount it. Let me know
You have given me multiple ideas, thank you! I to have started a garbage company from scratch and I like where your head is at. We still do not provide garbage cans because of the high cost of cans and in return pass the savings over to our Customers. We opened on January 1st ( officially ) and had 1 customer, today we have 125. We use a modified 12ft utility trailer and load/unload by hand. And can handle up to 50 customers per day with our current setup. Your idea of Liners is Genius! More people throw loose trash, dog waste bags there mcdonalds bags etc in the cans and we have to move them with a broom or by hand at the dump. I agree.. a tipper is not very useful unless you have a compactor truck or a slide system to move the tipper from the front to the back on a rail. Some other services we offer is driveway pickup for a additional fee and can free pickup ( just food for thought) Best of luck to you, I will definitely be following your journey on here and starting our own channel soon. Steve- Red Hot Hauling New york
I worked on the back of a garbage truck for 5 years. I can tell you that you can save a lot of time if you leave the garbage can at the curb after you dump it. Taking it back up the driveway or behind the fence takes up a lot of time over your 20+ stops trust me. Essentially the more houses you get, that will eat up a lot your time and add more time. Thats a quick was to gain time back.
The first three cans at the very beginning were dropping of new cans to customers. The first pickup was meeting the client halfway with the emptied can since they were outside.
You are right to protect yourself. This kind of work is called sanitation for a reason. You have a great model. I'm glad you are doing a matrix and cost analysis and operational cost analytics so you can track your ROI.
There is nothing wrong with people offering suggestion. All it takes is 1 lightbulb moment and perhaps it could actually help. Considering he mentions shooting down most of the ideas without actually testing them though we may never know.
You already know from your lawn service that there are some people will leave negative comments no matter what you do. And others who know everything even if they have never had anything to do with what you are doing. I, on the other hand, have no personal knowledge or feel that I have to give negative advice. I really like your videos. Doesn’t matter what you are doing. I can learn things, enjoy a good laugh, or just relax and watch someone else work. Keep up the good work!
I am amazed that tool cost 2k. It seems like it would cost around 750 based on construction. Maybe this can be looked at as a "one size doesnt fit all". Maybe having a tipper is still a good idea for 10-20% of the time. having both sides accessible seems like a great idea. How about several acccess points, front and rear so the trash piles you are dumping in are better spread out without needing spread out? Just thinking the lower the rail you have to clear to load the better.
Brad, always enjoy watching your vids because they are clear, concise and informative! You have ventured into a new business and I for one appreciate how you honestly and fully disclose the ups and downs of starting out. Always floors me when people just feel that they need to be so critical! This for education and entertainment!! Keep up the good work and ignore the trolls!!! 👍
Good learning experience! Having customers willing to pay in full for the year definitely helps. We charge a flat monthly rate all 12 months and offer a 10% discount in January to anyone who pays in full . It's a great way to start out the year with $10k -$20k sitting in the bank 😎☝️
I love the videos on the lawn care and trash services. Can't wait for the new ones. Have you thought about putting a door in the side cut-out on the wood railings to keep things from blowing out? You could leave it open while running the route and then close it when transporting the trash to the landfill.
Hey Brad, Don't mind the negative comments, all this is, is a good learning stepping stone for your new trash business... Good for you for trying out new things... From here on out you will grow and learn. Give it time and you will get everything straight in out. I have always wanted to start my own trash business, I currently work for a big corporate trash company. What you are doing is a blessing and you should be very proud of yourself. This is all just a new learning curve. I love your vids by the way!
Hey Brad, did you think about looking into dump Insert trash trucks where they can slot into a 25/3500 pick up truck bed with a hydraulic tipper and garbage sweep? They seem like a set up that could work really well for your application and the total cost for the insert would not be, anywhere near a full trash truck.
Not enough storage, cost more than the dump trailer, I use a DECKED storage system in the truck currently, duty cycle issues due to electric hydraulic systems, etc.
It's been really fun for me to watch your new business venture. There's a whole lot more to trash collection (without a proper truck) than expected. Great critical review. A+
Hey there I’ve thought about it a lot and really all you need to do is once the trash piles up, dump the trailer with the doors closed; all the trash is gonna slide back. Do it every few stops. Battery tender should be on the trailer already to keep up with the use. I think it’s the best solution and makes more sense than a rail system fabrication. It does suck they don’t raise the 96 gallons but they do never advertise that it does. I think I’m going to have to build my own out of HD Steel and a powered Hydraulic arm.
Talk to Knight Global, we can make one with Air so all you need is an Air tank and 100% duty cycle Also Note, you already have hydraulic pump from you hydraulic dump trailer
I may take you up on that! The issue would be back to duty cycle if I tapped into the dump trailer hydraulics. No 12 volt system is meant for constant use.
@@CopperCreekCutsit depends, you need to research your equipment and also what options you selected when your built your truck on its alternator size and how many there is. Your trailers hydraulic pump probably has enough duty cycle to move a single trashcan or two every few minutes without having any issue because it will have plenty of cool downtime between stops.
@@FishFind3000 The one issue with this (as stated in the video) is that Brad wants a system which can handle 40 stops in a neighborhood, which probably means nearly continuous operation/not much of a rest between cans.
There’s a guy here who has a dump trailer specifically made for trash pickup, with a packer and a pickup arm. 24ft tri axel trailer. Costed him little under $8k for the arm, and packer
This business development has brought me joy and I greatly look forward to your vids lately, thanks for doing this! Please share tks with the wife if she doesn't see this as well. You guys rock!
Good morning. I am enjoying the saga of starting a new business. A tipper arm that runs along a permanent rail would solve the problem of trash being dumped in the same spot, but that would require some serious engineering. ( Like a project for those earning a degree in mechanical engineering ) As a Jax resident I always enjoy recognizing many of the places you work.
If you do end up finding a tipper you like, might I suggest trying to find a way to mount it on parallel rails mounted to the side of the trailer? It would at least solve the problem of moving the trash pile. I know it’s a pipe dream but if you love efficiency whatever trailer solution you end up with will be 100% purpose built anyway😂. Don’t be afraid to dream and workshop any “crazy” ideas you have for efficiency! I’m addicted to efficiency myself!
@@CopperCreekCuts You should have an open mind and just thank people for the ideas instead of having a negative outlook for each. I am not suggesting that all of them are great and or feasible but they are from people who took the time to watch your video/channel. Having the negative outlook on each ones just leaves a bad taste in their mouths. Again I am not saying you need to entertain each idea, just have an open and positive mind for them.
Par-kan easy dump. Sell the dump trailer and put this on the back of your pickup you’ll probably come out with money in your pocket. Looks like a good solution if I were you. It has a compactor so even though it’s smaller than the trailer you probably will be able to fit close to the same amount.
No. I use a Decked drawer system for one, the par-kans don't have a compactor, only a sweeper, it is definitely smaller than the trailer and won't fit as much (I would have around half the storage which would mean I wouldn't have enough space even at this current stage), I run into duty cycle issues with any electric hydraulic system, and the small 6 yard version was a few grand more than my trailer (and doesn't come with 18 month no interest payments like the trailer does). I appreciate the tip, though!
I understand the tipper didn't work out for you but I am glad that you shared it because it would be great for my grandparents to use on the farm. Grandpa currently uses his old tractor but its a pain for him to use in the winter time.
Sorry to hear the bin tipper you got didn't really work out for you as intended. I guess it will only get used when you have heavy and full bins, probably not much use to go to the effort to use it when there is not much waste in the bin. Even when used with full and heavy bins, it looks like it will take a lot of effort to maneuver and flip the bins. It is really cool watching these videos and you talking through the issues you have found and how you have learned from these issues to develop things further in the future, such as the net over the waste. I wonder if you could source a second hand electronic bin flipper of an old stationary compactor unit they use at businesses such as malls? Do all your customers need new bin liners on each pickup? Some of your customers look to be bagging their waste up very well and possibly would not need a new liner and maybe you could be tossing the customer's bags individually into your trailer which could help with not needing to use the tipper or lift one big heavy bag into the trailer? After unloading and you find the bin liner is beyond your standards of cleanliness, then the liner could be replaced? It may take some more time to toss smaller bags one after another into the trailer but would this be offset by the struggles of lifting one big bag or the time it is taking to use the bin lifter and rake to move the waste in the trailer? Tossing individual bags may allow you to load the trailer better too rather than loading from the same point on the trailer each time. Look forward to seeing how this project develops, keep up the great work and the top quality video production!
Good questions! I don't think a tipper of any sort will work because of the trash piling in one spot. I am reusing liners when the trash was bagged and clean. I don't want to risk not putting a liner in. If the person puts loose trash in the next week then I am stuck.
@@CopperCreekCuts Great to hear you are reusing some of the liners if the bag is clean. I totally understand that you would be in a difficult situation if someone put loose trash in with no liner. And I agree, I don't think a bin tipper will sadly work for your trailer unless it emptied the bin very high at the front and you were to use the trailer tipper and gravity to move the waste to the back which sounds just as slow and time consuming. I'm sure you will find a solution. Keep up the good work and thanks for replying 🙂
Yeah the ASMR version got me too. I was waiting for the new video because you said something in the comments on the last one about the disaster of a lift arm. So I got the video in my recommended and had to check and realized that it's just the last video but an ASMR version.
Don't give up on the lift yet. I saw someone recommend replacing the struts with stronger ones. Also, I was thinking maybe you could build a ramp on the inside of the trailer so the bags are forced to roll away from the "landing spot" where the lift deposits them. This could save you the trouble of pushing the bags away with a rake at each stop. Keep Up the Hussle!
There just isn't enough room for a ramp to work. The garbage doesn't really roll unless the trailer is very steep (rewatch and look how steep it has to be before it starts dumping at the landfill).
Brad - ignore the naysayers. They are just trying to get a reaction, and some are jealous they do not have your drive, ambition, and smarts. Just keep doing what you're doing. It's great.
I’d look into a winch and pulley setup for that arm mechanism so you have more power and depending on the size of your pulley on the winch can change your dump speed.
If i were running this particular trailer set-up I make the sides fold down and be able to fold up when transporting from route to landfill. The tipper idea was just a learning curve...I appreciate the videos and enjoy the concept...WTG Brad and Mrs Brad!!
Have you looked at the dump Dolly.Easy latch? It's a Dolly that you could roll to pick up the trash can and then put it on the side of the trailer and it lifts the trash in into the trailer. You could dump it anywhere along the side of the trailer. It's battery powered. Around four thousand dollars
Hello Brad, I will have to agree with everything you said. Perhaps you could beef up the frame of the tipper, and install a more powerful gas shock. But its also like you said, you'd still have the issue of the tipper, putting the bags in the exact same spot. Short of an official garbage truck, or more complex (which means more expensive) tipper, I'm really not sure where you would go from here. I appreciate your transparency. Good deal on the new dump site though!
"Pimp My Dump Trailer" "We heard you like picking up trash, so we built you a lifter and trailer that will compact your trash, your trash's trash, and even more trash to the point it'll look like an exploding zit when you roll up at the landfill!" I love your sticktoitiveness and wish you and your wife the best of luck! I wish I could help, but I'll be in the comfort of my home office, watching your progress and rooting for you!
Hey CopperCreekCuts just started watching this trash business. Gotta say let the haters hate. you got all these people say this and that but let them say whatever cuz they aint the ones doing the work. you got a great work ethic so Im def going to keep watching. keep up the good work brother.
Maybe you could have the lifter be at the right side towards the front and have another spot on the left side near the back so you could space out dumps without having to move the bags with a rake or stick. Hope the best for your new business!!
For lifting purposes, would it be possible to add a winch/pulley system to assist with the lifting process? Even if you mounted it near the front of the trailer, and mounted a handful of pulleys along the cable route, the winch would be out of the way.
Just started watching the videos today but I been thinking about starting a trash company and these videos from you and other creators are making me want to start one right now
Hey, Brad! Gotta love the naysayers. They're always so full of...well, I'll be nice, so let's just say, they're own version of wisdom. Best of luck to you! You'll find your groove!
I follow a RUclipsr that makes every penny he lives off of from RUclips. He doesn’t have a job except car repair videos, so don’t be pressured into justifying your RUclips money. I’m happy for you and I’m subscribing today
Another great video! Too bad the tipper arm didn’t work as thought of, but completely understandable with the pile of trash by the tipper. Already excited to see next week’s video!
Hey man, I love watching your videos. One suggestion I have is when you put the liners in try to fold them up a bit. If you do this, people can see your logo. Good luck!
Great video! I feel so bad for you with that arm. It looked a lot better than how it prrformed lol. One thing i didnt hear you mention was how much more messy the dump trailer was. When you have to move all that trash around after each stop a lot of it comes out which leads to the probability of trash flying out to be much higher. Keep pushing with this business! You're doing amazing.
Maybe you can fabricat a posher that will run on the hydraulic power of the trailer You don't need that it will posh all the way Only behind the dumping area and then it's gonna posh the trash bit by bit Also it's gonna be best to make the posher move after the lifting arm or even in the time you're driving. You gonna need only tow calenders and a metal plate whit a plastic down
add a chain latch on the backside of the can to hold the can while lifting. I would also weld a lifting arm on the side so you can have better ergonomics while lifting.
Well, you didn't consult me before you setup this trailer. I would have told you to put your loading area near the front of the trailer. Then you could have your welding buddy rig up a push plate on an electric winch and rollers to push the trash to the rear of the trailer. That way you're not having to figure out hydraulics. It won't compact the trash but will move the piles. Look at some of the youtube videos some of the rednecks have made to unload brush trailers with push plates and winches.
Move your loading area close to the front of the trailer. Put a push sled at the back. Add rollers on the back of the trailer and connect a winch. Push everything to the back of the trailer. Problem solved
I wanted to address your talking about lifting the trailer to move the garbage to the back. You mentioned it would take 2 min each time and doing that for each stop would be cumbersome. My thoughts though you wouldn't/shouldn't have to do it each stop. But maybe every 5 stops. And its not a perfect solution to end all but it is a solution for the interim to make it slightly easier. And if you plan it right the wifey can perform the tip while you're walking a can back up a 100yd driveway. :D
Would be worth it to raise the dumb trailer every 3 to 4 stops? That could solve the spreading issue and not add any physical labor. Could be worth it, ltipper arm or not.
Thats the mindset difference between an employee and a business owner. As an owner you are constantly thinking of ways to streamline everything, that is how you increase the bottom line.
Honestly he could convert it more but its not really worth it if you don't have something to push the trash out of the way of the drop zone. Ie a compactor like normal trash trucks.
maybe look into this option for lifting cans it runs off hydraulic fluid but you could probably figure out how to customize something for your trailer PER-D6220B | Tuckaway Unit
Dude, you’re doing amazing. Keep up the great content and work and I just want to say I’m so sorry for the comments you’re getting have a great one. I’m excited for next week.
Hi there! It's me again, the european guy from your last video. As I said earlier I am happy to see your thing going and thus anything I write here are ideas and not criticism. First of all, about the can lifting mechanism, I have two ideas for a DIY thing, one using a manual hydraulic pump to pump the thing up and then with a lever to get it back down, just like a car jack, a barber shop seat or a crane to lift a car engine, that would be more usefull than the thing you have or an other idea is to use a mechanism with gears and some kind of chain like the bike chain to rotate a wheel and the gearbox to transfer the movement to the chain on witch the can is put, taking the can up and then rolling over and into the trailer. The second thing is about the manualy spreading the garbage into the trailer, my idea is to put the mechanism as much as you can near the front of the trailer and when the grabage piles up you just tip the trailer a bit with the back doors closed making the pile to roll backwards to the doors. This video just provoked me to try and make a sketch for a DIY can lifting thingy and I might put my engineering skills until next week's episode to draw something. Best wishes and good luck!
As for the garbage bag soap opera, for those of you who just can't ler go the fact you are using bags for the cans, leave them alone. Here authorities want you to use bags and use bags for all kind of bins possible to minimise spilling the garbage juice and to keep cans cleaner. Just tell everybody you are doing the european model the make them f off. 😂😂😂
I agree with that garbage truck comment. I’m not saying a brand new 20 ton garbage truck, but maybe those small pack rats they make. You could probably pick one up for the same price as that truck and trailer. It would be way faster and easier on you. Watching you do that trash just looks way too time consuming and not worth it.
I have a suggestion, maybe you could transform that tipper arm into a box where you can put the big trash bags in and then use the tipper box arm to lift it up instead of carrying the whole can also, just add a box to put trash in and then lift the arm.
Just a shot in the dark but maybe in the middle of your trailer on the side build the door that pulls down on struts that is a ramp that you can pull a can into your trailer walk it to wherever you need to in your trailer dump it over and then walk it back out the ramp
there just mad you’re doing it on your own but keep it up i like the liner idea keeps garbage can clean no customers wants a dirty smelly can also improves your business later when you’re recommended by neighbors because they’ll see your clean cans out most clients don’t care how you dispose of the trash weather it’s a flat bet or a garage truck i used to wheel them up a ramp and dump them into a box truck do what you gotta do till you build up your customers and can improve it
I've been having this problem for years. My dump trailer sides are 7ft tall from the ground. Lifting up brute trash cans full of tile/concrete is a pain and dangerous.
Bro I’ve got 2 ideas for the trash being in the same spot and having it full. Why not build a heavy duty plate weld on 2 or 4 or 5 pistols that has a metal plate on the other side as well for push the garbage to the gate. (So essentially 2 heavy duty metal plates with big powerful hydraulics on it and weld on side to the back of the trailer) Another idea is look into a piece of farm equipment for manure tossing, it’s essentially got a conveyor that pushes a wall. You could buy one of those and slightly customize it to have a dump gate and a lift piston
@@CopperCreekCuts fair enough, I’d say at the least maybe look through a farm equipment sale site, find a half decently priced manure spreader and ask a fab shop near by how much it would cost to make the idea become reality? I mean it’ll definitely be a couple bucks for sure so maybe it’s something to look at when you’ve got a few more customers but I think that would be your best configuration because 75% of the jobs done (at least the trickiest part) you just have to get the idea across the finish line. Ntm if it’s an idea that isn’t on the market for smaller garbage collectors then you could patent it or partner with a well established company and take a royalty. A buddy of mine did something like that, cost him a few grand up front but now he brings in a good chunk of change from it.
Awesome video! It is really interesting to see how you service you routes and the things you are learning along the way! Btw sometimes people wait a few weeks and let there trash pileup before they put it out to the curb.
Maybe you already considered this, so apologies in advance, but I recently saw I think a Ford F550 with a Trash Truck bed. And I looked on Facebook marketplace, and it seems that there are used trash trucks of all sizes (from the size of F150's to full sized) available for around $30K. When I saw that F550 one my first thought was that would be perfect for a smaller trash business like yours. Have you considered something like that for this business?
Yes but don't have $30K cash I'm willing to spend on those (generally not going to be able to get a loan on thos), plus the risk of finding repair parts and troubleshooting those things which I don't trust myself much with. That and I don't think it matches the long term goal of getting quite a few cans on the street. Generally they are smaller. But who knows!
If you had one extra helper the loader would be almost perfect despite the defects. You both get down, while you get the trash, the other brings the loader down, and hops inside the trailer and waits for you to load the garbage can. You load it in, the garbage falls, and you while you reel it back to get the can and take it back to its spot, the other person can drag the trash bag towards the gate of the trailer, clearing room for the next load. That same person, your helper, can load the EAGLE back into its position by the time you get back, you'd just need to get into the truck! Maybe hold on to it?
A tipping arm isn't really gonna be of use at all because you have nothing to compact the trash and move it out of the drop zone like normal trash trucks do. So its not really feasible. But you should always tarp your loads that's usually required on all trash trucks with open tops.
Not really suggesting that getting a different trailer is a good solution, but if you had a live bottom dump(basically just a conveyer) maybe you could have a tipper up front and run the live bed to move the trash in the trailer. I wish it would have worked better for you
When I was a kid our garbage truck was an open top truck that they through the garbage in. Today they are close tops that are made to handle all kinds of garbage. I have the same type of can that you use. On back of the truck is a flat plate that grabs a bar on the can and flips up to dump out the garbage. And you are very cheap because I pay over $20 a month for a can and to pickup the garbage once a week.
It seems the lift mechanism is way too narrow as it twists as you load. I wondered if an arm could be put on to give you a longer lever to lift with that could easily fold back or collapse between stops. It looks like if you weld a gusset onto the existing lift handle and put an arm extension ant a right angle to the ground, it will give you a little more reach and leverage to get the load moving. Also, is there a way to put the tipper on rollers and pin it in various places. Extend the upright hooks to reach full sideboard height. Fill the trailer front to back to keep safe tongue weight. Just possible solutions. It already doesn't work as you wanted. A few modifications and bracing and it may do the job better for you.
You're a more patient man than i am. The third time the tipper didnt work well it would have ended up in the trailer. I wonder if popping a back door and loading from the rear wouldn't be easier on your body.
@@CopperCreekCuts I wasn't sure if you had a trailer that the doors could fold flat to the side or not. My brain schematic was visualizing flat fold doors and a web net over the opening for when you're moving.
I understand your concept. Right now you're just starting in the trash business as route grows so will your equipment you can't start out with a possibly 300k automated side loader
Now that you have those cut-outs, would it be worth adding some doors that you can shut if you know you’ll be going at a higher rate of speed? Something hinged with a locking mechanism seems like a decent idea to really enclose the whole space.
Consider putting the slot for loading in the back half that way you can decide where to load something based on many factors mostly being even loading even though you may have to load on the opposite side of the pickup location and also being you won't have to distribute the trash with that stupid rake .
It's the bummer the tipper arm idea was a no go, but sometimes you just don't know until you try and the money is spent. I appreciate the openness and honesty of being able to admit mistakes were made, and the business in general.
I would think for 6,7,8 thousand dollars you could find a welder or fabricator that could make a way better system with hydraulics or a beefy air system. I would try going that route if you’re interested. A good welder with some tubing can make anything!
Just got to the end with the ASMR topic. The only issue I could think of that may come from doing those videos on your main page is the risk that if they don't do as well as the main videos it may mess with your algorithm pushing the channel a bit less since the numbers would be less consistent, but can't say I blame you for not having the time or energy to do that
Just a thought, I’m sure you’re aware of. If you injury yourself you are pretty much screwed. The faster you train a backup person the better. I ran into this issue with a cleaning business I owned.
Hey brad! I was thinking that maybe you could do a dumpster service when you don't need the dump trailer? Like leave it at someone's house for a few days? I don't really know what you do with the trailer outside of trash day but if you don't use it maybe that could be another source of income? Anyways i love following up on this series every week! Have a great day!!
Considering this is my only way to collect trash I don't think it would make sense to risk ticking off all my clients to make a hundred bucks or so on a rental. Plus I don't think anyone would take care of it the way I do.
@@CopperCreekCuts I can’t tell if I’m not understanding but you don’t think maybe some construction company would want to rent the trailer from time to time? I wasn’t saying like your current clients if that’s what you thought. Not trying to be rude in anyway I just don’t understand 😆
All issues with the tipper aside, you wouldn’t want to utilize the dump feature of your trailer to periodically move the trash out of the way instead of the rake? You would obviously have to move the tipper to the front of the trailer bed which could be really annoying to re situate all that
I mentioned this in the video. I am not going to tilt the trailer after every trash can. I can't put it on the front of the trailer due to clearance issues with the I beams.
@CopperCreekCuts indeed they are. Maybe once you possibly get a truck you offer a 2nd service type for organic waste if your local tips etc have a composting area.
I wish my dump was as cheap as yours!!!! This is the CHEAPEST one in my area and its $50 for 1,000 pounds and it doesnt matter if its 100 pounds or 999 pounds its $50
Now I could be completely wrong because I'm not using it, also not in your position and know all the details, would it be better or even possible to mount to the top of the wood? That would give you more space for dumping. It might pile up slower and you can raise the trailer less often?
Trash trucks dump into a hopper so the trash is always below where you dump more trash. Using a trailer your trash just builds up where you dump it. It has no where to go.
Yeah buddy you need to get a hydro arm set up that can slide down the trailer as you fill up a section I think you can achieve what you would like and not have to deal with moving trash but I do feel like a system being kinda of a one off may be pricey but might pay for it's self saving you can liners money and cutting your time from 3 hrs to a hr and a half
@CopperCreekCuts I don't know I think the rail system could be simple steel rails welded to the side of the trailer and the only hydros you would need are the lift you could roll the arm your self. The rail system is a fixed rail with greased industrial rollers that would do just that. Roll on the rail you could drill hole in the rails where you need and use a hitch pin like the one hold the ball on your truck to keep the arm where you want it at any given time. It doesn't have to be over engineered it just needs to do what you want it too.

Hey can I have an orange can I live in Clemons ny
Hey dude its a real shame that you got in my eyes "ripped off" I have seen some great products for the back of your truck not your trailer but I get your point and I'm glad you gave it a shot. Good luck with the next purchase!
Buy once cry once my friend.
LOL the trash juices must've got to the other guys brains
LOL
For $8000 I'll build you a tipper arm that not only dumps +1000 pounds. It will also be able to dump at any spot down the side of the trailer. You won't have to touch a single bag.
Now that is an offer that Brad should be accepting. You could name it the Bradly Tipper, in honor of Brad who will be using it, from Copper Creek Cuts!
I'll take 5
Let me know
Another guy with a similar channel bought a used garbage truck for less than $20k. 100 times faster.
@@thewhiteknight02 Find a diesel tech in town and offer them two years of free trash removal for fixing the truck up
You have given me multiple ideas, thank you!
Some other services we offer is driveway pickup for a additional fee and can free pickup ( just food for thought)
Best of luck to you, I will definitely be following your journey on here and starting our own channel soon.

Thank you so much for leaving this comment, I really appreciate it! Congrats on your business success as well!
Think those shots were delivering cans to new customers, not every house.
Thank you for this comment as well!
i love all the suggestions on how to "make it work" when he is clearly over it and made a whole video why it is not going to work.
I thought I was the only one😂 Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words!
Vevor could make that for $100, shouldnt give china any ideas though.
There are no other access points due to spare tire mounts, fenders, and steps.
I love reading the comments on small business channels. The keyboard CEOs crack me up 😂
LOL You've got that right!
I appreciate that! Thank you!
Good learning experience! Having customers willing to pay in full for the year definitely helps. We charge a flat monthly rate all 12 months and offer a 10% discount in January to anyone who pays in full . It's a great way to start out the year with $10k -$20k sitting in the bank 😎☝️
It really helps!
I love the videos on the lawn care and trash services. Can't wait for the new ones. Have you thought about putting a door in the side cut-out on the wood railings to keep things from blowing out? You could leave it open while running the route and then close it when transporting the trash to the landfill.
Hoping that long term there won't be loose trash, but that is an idea to pursue.
Thanks for watching!
Thats my idea to
Not enough storage, cost more than the dump trailer, I use a DECKED storage system in the truck currently, duty cycle issues due to electric hydraulic systems, etc.
That one look at the camera screamed “Me and my bright ideas” 🤣
That's about right!😂
It's been really fun for me to watch your new business venture. There's a whole lot more to trash collection (without a proper truck) than expected. Great critical review. A+
Thank you for the feedback!
Talk to Knight Global, we can make one with Air so all you need is an Air tank and 100% duty cycle
Also Note, you already have hydraulic pump from you hydraulic dump trailer
I may take you up on that! The issue would be back to duty cycle if I tapped into the dump trailer hydraulics. No 12 volt system is meant for constant use.
@@CopperCreekCutsit depends, you need to research your equipment and also what options you selected when your built your truck on its alternator size and how many there is.
Your trailers hydraulic pump probably has enough duty cycle to move a single trashcan or two every few minutes without having any issue because it will have plenty of cool downtime between stops.
@@FishFind3000honestly he would really benefit from a under cdl mini rear loader
Thanks for the link! :D
This business development has brought me joy and I greatly look forward to your vids lately, thanks for doing this! Please share tks with the wife if she doesn't see this as well. You guys rock!
Thanks so much!
Would be way beyond my skills and wallet.
Sounds more involved than I could get!
I was going to post the same thing!
I am sure it is a great tool for some!
29:00 you could make a small door that covers that opening. Some plywood, hinges and a latch. Maybe $50-$100 and no more blowout and bad looks.
Long term is to figure out best way to prevent loose trash so that isn't needed but might be an option down the road!
Thanks for watching!
11:00 look at getting stronger gas struts and empty light cans by hand, and heavy cans with it.
Doesn't solve the bigger issue of not being able to move the trash it dumps.
Brad - ignore the naysayers. They are just trying to get a reaction, and some are jealous they do not have your drive, ambition, and smarts. Just keep doing what you're doing. It's great.
Thank you, I will!
Hey, for your safety try not to stand in the middle of the road to place the liners or dump the bags. If you don’t have an option just be careful
I’d look into a winch and pulley setup for that arm mechanism so you have more power and depending on the size of your pulley on the winch can change your dump speed.
Thanks, but improving the lift doesn't solve the trash piling up problem.
If i were running this particular trailer set-up I make the sides fold down and be able to fold up when transporting from route to landfill. The tipper idea was just a learning curve...I appreciate the videos and enjoy the concept...WTG Brad and Mrs Brad!!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
That would cause more issues than it solved. The walls would have to be infinitely variable/modular and the duty cycle would still be an issue.
i also use Jobber....I respect the fact that you keep it real....you show the ups and downs of business. Respect.
Many thanks!
I think I may just have to slog it out until I jump up to a real truck.
"Pimp My Dump Trailer"
"We heard you like picking up trash, so we built you a lifter and trailer that will compact your trash, your trash's trash, and even more trash to the point it'll look like an exploding zit when you roll up at the landfill!"

LOLOL Loved that. "We put a lifter on a lifter so you can lift your lift while you lift your trash"
Hey CopperCreekCuts just started watching this trash business. Gotta say let the haters hate. you got all these people say this and that but let them say whatever cuz they aint the ones doing the work. you got a great work ethic so Im def going to keep watching. keep up the good work brother.
Thanks for watching!
Maybe you could have the lifter be at the right side towards the front and have another spot on the left side near the back so you could space out dumps without having to move the bags with a rake or stick. Hope the best for your new business!!
Thanks for watching!
For lifting purposes, would it be possible to add a winch/pulley system to assist with the lifting process? Even if you mounted it near the front of the trailer, and mounted a handful of pulleys along the cable route, the winch would be out of the way.
Sounds slow and complicated? Might be possible though.
Just started watching the videos today but I been thinking about starting a trash company and these videos from you and other creators are making me want to start one right now
Good for you!

Another great video! Too bad the tipper arm didn’t work as thought of, but completely understandable with the pile of trash by the tipper.
Already excited to see next week’s video!
Hope you enjoy it!
Hey man, I love watching your videos. One suggestion I have is when you put the liners in try to fold them up a bit. If you do this, people can see your logo. Good luck!
Thanks for the tip!
Thank you for the kind words and for watching!
really happy i found this! Cant wait to watch this journey!
Hope you enjoy it!
Maybe you can fabricat a posher that will run on the hydraulic power of the trailer
You don't need that it will posh all the way
Only behind the dumping area and then it's gonna posh the trash bit by bit
Also it's gonna be best to make the posher move after the lifting arm or even in the time you're driving.
You gonna need only tow calenders and a metal plate whit a plastic down
Could be!
@@CopperCreekCuts sorry about my lack of grammar English ain't my first language
Hallo from Jerusalem Israel
I wonder if you tie the bag once you put it in the can if it would stop the bag from falling in.
Maybe!
add a chain latch on the backside of the can to hold the can while lifting. I would also weld a lifting arm on the side so you can have better ergonomics while lifting.
Ok but what about the other issue?
Only thing I wish you could do that you can't change is putting move videos out!! I love watching these!!!!
Haha, thank you!
I had stops where the floor was clear, I dumped, and there was so much trash I wouldn't be able to dump the next can. It's in the footage.
Keep up the good work! You’re learning, the cost of learning is worth it! Love the videos! Up north we need the 4 wheel drive all year round
Thanks for watching!
Instead of pushing the garbage with a rake, I would hit the dump button on the trailer so atleast the garbage goes towards the doors out of the way.
Covered that in the video
Would be worth it to raise the dumb trailer every 3 to 4 stops? That could solve the spreading issue and not add any physical labor. Could be worth it, ltipper arm or not.
Covered in the video, it would add a lot of time to the process since the trailer needs to be raised pretty high before stuff slides.
Thats the mindset difference between an employee and a business owner. As an owner you are constantly thinking of ways to streamline everything, that is how you increase the bottom line.
Yes! I don't think employees care about the business expenses like an owner would.
Man what bothers me the most is i've been watching this series without having you subscribed 😭 I promised i just subbed I just realized it!
I appreciate it!
Congratulations on 3 new cans/customer
Thanks!
Buy some stronger gas struts and see if that helps. Might get the issue of not being able to get it down but
Honestly he could convert it more but its not really worth it if you don't have something to push the trash out of the way of the drop zone. Ie a compactor like normal trash trucks.
Thanks, but improving the lift doesn't solve the trash piling up problem.
maybe look into this option for lifting cans it runs off hydraulic fluid but you could probably figure out how to customize something for your trailer
PER-D6220B | Tuckaway Unit
Thanks, but that wouldn't solve the other issue I discussed.
Dude, you’re doing amazing. Keep up the great content and work and I just want to say I’m so sorry for the comments you’re getting have a great one. I’m excited for next week.
Thank you!
LOL Thank you for the kind words and comments and ideas! Much appreciated!
Would love to see a full video on the jobber setup for this business!
I can do that!
I already owned the truck and the trailer was only $15K, so I don't think I could. I agree, the tipper is not the way forward.
I have a suggestion, maybe you could transform that tipper arm into a box where you can put the big trash bags in and then use the tipper box arm to lift it up instead of carrying the whole can also, just add a box to put trash in and then lift the arm.
I don't see how that would solve the issue of it dumping in the same place.
@@CopperCreekCuts oh right I forgot about that.
Just a shot in the dark but maybe in the middle of your trailer on the side build the door that pulls down on struts that is a ramp that you can pull a can into your trailer walk it to wherever you need to in your trailer dump it over and then walk it back out the ramp
Thanks for the idea!
keep up the great work love your vids
Glad you like them!
there just mad you’re doing it on your own but keep it up i like the liner idea keeps garbage can clean no customers wants a dirty smelly can also improves your business later when you’re recommended by neighbors because they’ll see your clean cans out most clients don’t care how you dispose of the trash weather it’s a flat bet or a garage truck i used to wheel them up a ramp and dump them into a box truck do what you gotta do till you build up your customers and can improve it
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Does this mean the end of lawn care and storm water cleanups? I like the new content but also miss the old lawn care stuff.
Nope, but haven't had any projects in either of those realms come up lately. Just maintenance mowing that isn't worth filming.
I've been having this problem for years. My dump trailer sides are 7ft tall from the ground. Lifting up brute trash cans full of tile/concrete is a pain and dangerous.
That's part of why I opted for these two foot walls with wood.
Bro I’ve got 2 ideas for the trash being in the same spot and having it full. Why not build a heavy duty plate weld on 2 or 4 or 5 pistols that has a metal plate on the other side as well for push the garbage to the gate. (So essentially 2 heavy duty metal plates with big powerful hydraulics on it and weld on side to the back of the trailer)
Another idea is look into a piece of farm equipment for manure tossing, it’s essentially got a conveyor that pushes a wall. You could buy one of those and slightly customize it to have a dump gate and a lift piston
All fab and rigging beyond my experience or ability.
Good point!
Could be! I don't want to take on employees at this point though.
A tipping arm isn't really gonna be of use at all because you have nothing to compact the trash and move it out of the drop zone like normal trash trucks do. So its not really feasible. But you should always tarp your loads that's usually required on all trash trucks with open tops.
That's what I said in the video, thank you for reiterating.
Not really suggesting that getting a different trailer is a good solution, but if you had a live bottom dump(basically just a conveyer) maybe you could have a tipper up front and run the live bed to move the trash in the trailer. I wish it would have worked better for you
Sounds like it could work!
Thanks for watching!
You need a tipper that would dump from a much higher, like over the top of wood side or a bit higher.
Yeah, that would help!
The tipper can't mount anywhere else. Fenders, steps, and spare tire mounts prevent it.
@@CopperCreekCuts well, bummer.
You're a more patient man than i am. The third time the tipper didnt work well it would have ended up in the trailer. I wonder if popping a back door and loading from the rear wouldn't be easier on your body.
I think it would be but it just isn't safe to drive with the doors open. They stick out too far even when latched.
Sadly! :D
Now that you have those cut-outs, would it be worth adding some doors that you can shut if you know you’ll be going at a higher rate of speed? Something hinged with a locking mechanism seems like a decent idea to really enclose the whole space.
I might but trying to see how it works without it first. Not wanting to do any work I don't need.
@@CopperCreekCuts Makes sense, let the change burn in before you make another one. See how it works first.
Consider putting the slot for loading in the back half that way you can decide where to load something based on many factors mostly being even loading even though you may have to load on the opposite side of the pickup location and also being you won't have to distribute the trash with that stupid rake .
I can't, there isn't room.
It's the bummer the tipper arm idea was a no go, but sometimes you just don't know until you try and the money is spent. I appreciate the openness and honesty of being able to admit mistakes were made, and the business in general.
Thank you for the kind words!
I would think for 6,7,8 thousand dollars you could find a welder or fabricator that could make a way better system with hydraulics or a beefy air system. I would try going that route if you’re interested. A good welder with some tubing can make anything!
That wouldn't solve the other issue, but thanks for the idea!
Just got to the end with the ASMR topic. The only issue I could think of that may come from doing those videos on your main page is the risk that if they don't do as well as the main videos it may mess with your algorithm pushing the channel a bit less since the numbers would be less consistent, but can't say I blame you for not having the time or energy to do that
The algorithm hates me anyways! :D
Just a thought, I’m sure you’re aware of. If you injury yourself you are pretty much screwed. The faster you train a backup person the better. I ran into this issue with a cleaning business I owned.
I've been facing this issue for the past 7 years with my lawn care business. Not something that keeps me up at night, but thank you for the warning!
Question - if a customer has a big bulk item will you take that free of charge my garbage company takes 1 bulk item
No
Why still use liners with the tipper arm? I don't see why you would.
Covered in the video. If the tipper doesn't work I have to go back to manual. If I don't have liners in it manually is terrible.
Alright. Sorry, thank you brad.
Love this channel!
Thank you!
Fun fact.
Some places now make dual arm sideloaders so u can operate on either side.
Often tho one side is outside controls only but still
Too cool!
@CopperCreekCuts indeed they are.
Maybe once you possibly get a truck you offer a 2nd service type for organic waste if your local tips etc have a composting area.
I wish my dump was as cheap as yours!!!! This is the CHEAPEST one in my area and its $50 for 1,000 pounds and it doesnt matter if its 100 pounds or 999 pounds its $50
Oh jeez, that stinks!
Wait what about a system that sides front to back on angle iron rails
That was what I was thinking. Also, having a system that can tip over the top of the side rails, so no gap in the sides for trash to blow out of.
Not possible. Wheels/fenders/spare tire mount/steps in prevent that.
Now I could be completely wrong because I'm not using it, also not in your position and know all the details, would it be better or even possible to mount to the top of the wood? That would give you more space for dumping. It might pile up slower and you can raise the trailer less often?
It wouldn't change where it dumps.
Trash trucks dump into a hopper so the trash is always below where you dump more trash.
Using a trailer your trash just builds up where you dump it. It has no where to go.
Yes, that's what I said in the video😁👍
@@CopperCreekCuts Sorry, I must have missed that part 🙄
Yeah buddy you need to get a hydro arm set up that can slide down the trailer as you fill up a section I think you can achieve what you would like and not have to deal with moving trash but I do feel like a system being kinda of a one off may be pricey but might pay for it's self saving you can liners money and cutting your time from 3 hrs to a hr and a half
That's at least $15,000 worth of hydraulics you are asking for!😂
@CopperCreekCuts I don't know I think the rail system could be simple steel rails welded to the side of the trailer and the only hydros you would need are the lift you could roll the arm your self.
The arm would be the largest expensive item the rail maybe 2000.00
