Last weekend, I drove from Dallas, TX to NE Pennylvania. People think that "longer drive = more money" but I'm pretty sure they keep us around their average weekly $$$, even if we are efficient enough to do more; they won't let us. I was driving a little hard this past week, 9, 10, 10.5 hours out of 11. Then they slowed me down. An appointment got changed and moved forward a day so I just had to wait.... Then some more stuff got changed on the tablet. Then I got another that changed to a relay. About the relay, I wish they just would have been honest instead of changing it to a relay at the as soon as the trailer was live loaded. I didn't want the run anyway; it was going to be late and I didn't want it counting against me. It all really doesn't bother me very much because I know it's kinda similar at every big company

I feel fortunate that I have no wife or kids to worry about. I love driving long distances and I'm actually happy the regulations are there to keep drivers from getting too tired because I think that's the only thing I would be concerned with if I start driving.. I will take every resting chance I get. I do have my Class A CDL but haven't started driving yet as I'm still considering the trade-offs. If I do start driving it will probably be for 5 to 10 years as I am already close to retirement age and I'd like to have enough money saved to be comfortable the last 25 to 30 years of my life. Another concern is staying physically fit if I stay on the road as much as possible. I am a very solitary person and don't need much in companionship but I fear boredom so I'm sure I would try to keep creating VR experiences at the end of each driving day. Thanks for your insight and I'll keep considering becoming an OTR driver but I guess I won't really know if I like that lifestyle until I do it.

does your DTL nag you if you idle? They nag us.. mine nagged me even when I used optimized idle in Dallas and she was the one that kept me there for so long!
