even the Gun Club, one of the best band of all times, don't get the recognition they deserve....the musical world often turns badly... otherwise it could not be explained why some bands, that miraculously produced a good song or two, have been idolized for thirty years
Ghost Dance, Skeletal Family, Sisters of Mercy, Throwing Muses etc etc are not underrated by people that listened to them. The issue back in the 80s and 90s was airplay. The only person that played these bands was John Peel and he was one person trying to educate people away from the trash, cliche-driven rubbish that was being produced and marketed. There have always been great bands around that have never sold singles and albums in huge numbers due to never being played by mainstream radio. Going to a club, unless an alternative club, back in the 80s, you would be very lucky if you heard anything alternative ie. good. It would usually be one song by Japan, Bowie or the Banshees (if you were lucky).
This is like a mixture of Blondie and what went on to become Nightwish. Fucking weird to think that this was ahead of the time and behind the times, all at once.
