Christianity today certainly is cultish. I've had the unpleasant experience of being kicked out of Moody Bible Institute and now two different churches for having critical discussions about the theology. The leadership in each case made it clear they felt I was dangerous because of the type of questions I put forward. It's been extremely hard on my family to keep going through this. I'm ready to call evangelical Christianity in most forms a cult.
I went to Moody too. Sorry, that sounds like it sucked. I have another, longer vid on Christianity and cults. I think you should watch it. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
@Jack Of All Trades I don't think it's a matter of cherry picking from the bible. It's a matter of discerning the difference between the bible and Christianity.
@Jack Of All Trades I'm hoping you're a fan of Jordan Peterson. He has a lot of insight into how to read the bible. I've been kicked out of Moody Bible Institute, and now four different churches. It's always been for the same reason: asking the question "where is that in the bible." I've been studying the old testament Hebrew for several years now and I'm appalled at how far off the Christian perspective is. Growing up with Christian influence it takes years of deprogramming to realize how much of our thinking is filled with unfounded assumptions that make it impossible to hear what the bible actually says. Christians give nearly every word a different definition than what was understood by the writers of the bible. "Sacrifice" is probably the most horrifically misrepresented concept. It then serves as the basis for misunderstanding the entire new testament.
Like how god asked Abraham to sacrifice his own son to him as a test, it doesn't matter whether he did it or not because asking him to do that is enough to prove its a cult, with a genocidal asshole of a god and angels that look worse than demons
i agree E J. i am a single farther, my wife was buddhist when she died, and the schools "LIE" every friday in small school, kids are sent too assembly where they are forced to learn christianity! When asksed of the head teacher "Why," i was told (which is a lie!) "we have talkers on all religion," but in 4 yrs of school,,,not once!.Then the kids move on to big school and we forget the injustice of "jesus died for you" or "sarah was the mother of......." Christianity isn't a religion, its a crime!
The bible is full of inaccuracies, contradictions and fallacies. With that being said, yes Christianity is a cult. I'm content to be a gratifying deist.
Hi! Thanks for watching. :) I don't see how the accuracy or inaccuracies of the Bible relates to this topic directly. Cults are a social-system which says nothing about the truthfulness of that cult's beliefs. That being said, it sounds like you've had some bad experiences with Christian communities. I'm sorry if that's the case.
@@DoubtersWelcome Accuracy of the bible matters a lot !. Authenticity puts the entire book into question. Imagine receiving a car with missing parts, It wouldn't work correctly or at all, that same logic goes for all religions including Christianity.
@@man-yp1gb Hi, thank for responding! :) Of course the accuracy of the Bible matters A LOT to whether Christianity is true! I'm not disagreeing with that at all. And of course I think people should ONLY be Christians if it's true. My previous comment was trying to make the point that whether a community is cultish or not doesn't help us know if it's beliefs are true or false. So believing Christianity is a cult won't help anyone dismiss it at false. I also watched the video you posted. It's obviously meant to be humorous. Sadly, I think it lacked thoughtful commentary on whether these passages actually contradict when properly understood. I would take me weeks to work through the whole video. BUT (heads up), I think where WE will misunderstand each other in this conversation is that even if you found a contradiction in the Bible that convinced me, I would still be a Christian since my belief is based on the historical person of Jesus. If you really want to discuss my beliefs at their core, we should discuss the resurrection of Jesus. Also, there are many videos on my channel about the Bible and Jesus resurrection. You should check them out. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it. :)
I just watched a recommended video and the guy speaking just sound like persuasive, manipulative, and just give me a funny vibe he's laughing behind all this. I said to myself after reading the comments... this is a fuccin cult.
We should believe in sects and a religion, not cults unless they're sects. Actually we should believe in sub-sects. Christianity is a sunworshipping primitive invented cult, and it's wrong to invent cults or religions. Somebody invented them sometime, but it should be a sect to prevent inventing it. Also the religion we should believe in is a love-based idol worship (I saw this in a puppet show on RUclips about love), I think they invented their own sect of this primitive religion, I've joined, have you? Just believe in a love-based religion, is it too much to ask? Love is everywhere, and love is perfect. Love comes from God, and God is a graven image. :)
@@sethfrady Agreed, the church I go to always asks disabled or homeless people if they want to come in and eat something or just check out the service, if a church is like this to disabled people then its no good place to stay.

A religious sect doesn't have to be extreme to be a cult. They can be nice and 'normal' people who base their every decision in life off of an imaginary sky master. That is very, very cultish.
All religion is the cult of ego. "Moreover -- if I may put another strain upon you -- he thinks he is the Creator's pet. I was sitting at a friend's house and they're Seventh Day Adventists, and I was watching "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles," and that's an R Rated movie, but they watch it every thanksgiving. EVERY THANKSGIVING! I was just sitting there watching it, enjoying it, and THEY SAID NOTHING! My friend Ray didn't like when they took the Lord's name in vane, but that's it. And besides, I don't think we should be doing that, considering the third commandment says "DON'T DO IT!" Unfortunately I hate to admit, but I've done it. I'm VERY UNHAPPY that I've done it, but I've asked God to forgive me, and I know he has. I repent and Ask God to forgive me, and to help me not to do it again, because it's wrong. BUT NO, we do not have to make Christianity a cult!

@@Yoylec_ke nah it's still a large cult. Especially because Christianity is broken into so many groups which actually means Christianity is a range of different cults. In fact every church is a cult.
Hi. Thanks for watching and commenting. God is not male. God is spirit. Why God is referred to as father or he is a theological question... I think I’ll have to look into it more deeply. :)
Wasn't that like his choices being bad? Like the whole point of the role of Jesus was to re write a lot of things from the old testament . I recently read that chapter and I'm pretty sure it's from the old testament testament. I'm not quite sure if there is any more details to this but yeah@@thatguywhocomments5534
I’m Hispanic and have a religious background, but freed my mind from it. I’ve often heard some church services be referred to as “cultos” which which literally means cult “Vamos al culto” which means “Let’s go to the cult”
Both of which Christianity falls under. Priests, preachers, these "leaders" manipulate and dictate for the masses religious doctrine that their subordinates will devote themselves to. Control. And in an ancient sense, they are devoting themselves to one specific god, that being Yahweh, or whatever the name they chose is.
Isn’t it culty for a human to say they need to go through him to find God? “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 Like, if you didn’t know Jesus and you were there to see him say that at that time period wouldn’t you be unsettled??
That's an interesting point! But making remarkable claims about yourself is not inherently cultish. It might make you arrogant if they claims are false... Cults are about manipulation, control, and exploitation. Our accounts of Jesus' life do not present him that way, even if he made remarkable claims.
Hmm idk, the whole God creating free will and then subsequently creating a punishment system (hell) for making certain decisions thing doesn't do it for me.
@@Hyle-King-Wytch-Neithekaos96and you Christian said it the word of god but how do you know that people change the Bible before this time I mean sure no Christian could or want to change the Bible or some do and it makes more sense for humans can and will change the Bible for they likely I mean you can change the Bible however you want and then people would believe it it’s a man made
Good topic. I profess Christ, but I stay away from corporate churches to avoid the abuse of scripture for carnal reasons. And I wouldn't see these people everyday or live life with them. Just meet every Sunday to give money, don't ask questions on any spiritual issues, first lady this, special event that, ect. The first thing people ask after you reveal your faith is "what church do you go to? Go to a church". No one sees it.
Great points! And very fair I have struggled with leaving my church but I am conflicted because a great majority of the people in my church were some of the best people I have ever met. But some of the Christians I know almost use it as a fraternity.

BUT I'm also currently at an amazing church with wonderful, mature, and emotionally healthy people. At the end of the day some churches are great and, sadly, others suffer from abusive systems and people... Anyway, watch the vid. I'd love to hear your thoughts. :)
Hi, thanks for watching! :) This VIDEO does presuppose that Jesus was a real person. However, I personally do not assume it. I have a recent video defending the existence of the historical Jesus. You should check it out! :) I think you're trying to say that if I just assume Jesus was the son of God then I'm in trouble cause I could just assume any god or God is real. I think I agree. However, my entire channel is laying out in great detail why I believe and don't just assume. Finally, Christianity could be FALSE, and not be a cult. A TRUE religion could be a cult. The point of this video is to say that something being cultish doesn't mean it's true or false. Cults are a social structure that can apply to true and false worldviews, families, clubs, and businesses. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it! :)
Jesus was real. There's actual evidence of that. And just because Jesus is real doesn't necessarily mean other gods and demigods were real. Jesus wasn't a demigod he was another form of God to save humans from ourselves

If you sin or don't sin, you're still gonna die. Regardless. Mathew ch.5 verse 48 says: Therefore you are to (Must be) perfect as your heavenly father is perfect. That means never sin at all and the bible says The wages of sin is death. Since Mathew ch.5 verse 48 says you are to be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect and since the wages of sin is death.. What's the point about repenting from your sins in the 1st place?
Ngl I think a guy or the government woke up and decided to make a book about some guy named Jesus and some ppl ere like ooh this must be true time to worship him!
Guy is obviously religious and stubble around making excuses. BTW, a cult is NOT hard to define (you're making that up). A cult is a subculture (Christians) that share a common goal or belief.
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting. :) Sadly, I think that definition is off-base. This would make every family, school, and workplace and cult by definition. That just seems too extreme to me. While I am religious, don't assume I'm not willing to label Christian groups cults. I definitely am. What I'm not willing to do (as outlined by this video) is say Jesus embodied the characteristics of a cult leader.
john doe Hi! Thanks for watching. :) Is it wrong for humans to be sacrificial for one another? Obviously not. It's a good, moral thing to do. To believe that Jesus freely gave his own life the save others is not even close to religions in which people offer others as murdered sacrifices (against their will) to try and continuously appease a god who delights in violence. This comment seems like intentional word play to make Christianity look bad: Jesus is a human whose sacrificial attitude led to him willingly giving his life to save many. "Christianity is a cult of HUMAN SACRIFICE!" Thanks for commenting.
@@DoubtersWelcome but the thing is, Jesus was not willing to die... In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed to the Father to take the crucifixion away from him... A willing person would not say anything in the 1st place
@@DoubtersWelcome ultimately? What do you mean ultimately? That Jesus initiallly don't want to die but change his mind and decided to die? But according to numbers 23:19 does God change his mind?
There is definitely a lot of shaming that goes on in the Bible, maybe most of it isn't directly from Jesus. But the entire concept literally relies on saying you are sinful and bad by nature and that you need Jesus and God to be good. If that isn't shaming I don't know what is.
Christianity is most certainly a cult. Its a massive conglomerate of people believing in an supernatural being above them with powers and judgement, with groups of practitioners who gather under ceremonies, adapt their lives to their beliefs, refute any evidence that may decree otherwise, and beckon other individuals to join in their belief system because "Their religion is the true religion." They do contain even at the most mundane level ritualistic practices, convert anything they see unfit into a product of their religion to open up the acceptance of things they wish to be true, and I could keep going. The problem with asking someone if christianity is a cult or not solely depends on whether or not you are asking someone who is christian. If you ask someone in a group deemed to be a cult if they were in a cult, what do you think their response would be? Christianity is a cult, and those who believe it will deny it because it infringes on their faith and their peace of mind, and unfortunately it is the most successful cult to have existed, why else would all other religions that preceded it get stomped out over time?
Also the shame cycle you bring up is very prevalent in Christianity, to the point you are usually ridiculed and even in extreme cases abandoned by those who may be close to you. They also do not like their beliefs being questioned at all, or any thought provoking and challenging thoughts because they will then see and treat you as a threat. They will also use hollow threats against you if you don't believe what they believe, such as the notorious "Aren't you afraid of going to Hell?" which is a sentence that is blatantly brain washed propaganda, because how can they not grasp the concept of someone not being afraid of hell because they don't believe in it? Its like when you get told that and you respond that you don't believe in it, they immediately forget what you just said and continue to try and push on you as if for some reason they can't grasp the concept that just because they think its real doesn't mean its real or that other people believe it and that if they just keep shoving it in your face it might make you scared enough to join them. Christians are fucking stupid.
Every new movement/cult are often open to everyone because they want to grow and spread their message. Christianity wouldn’t have accepted anyone that claims Jesus wasn’t the only way to god. So this “acceptance” you speak of was very much conditional.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I understand your point and I wonder if it still applies to how Christians today act vs. Jesus. In the Gospels Jesus often spent time with those who sincerely doubted him! He didn’t send them away or even rebuke them. My point was that Jesus didn’t coerce/manipulate followers, and neither should Christians. That is cultish. Thanks for watching. :)
@@DoubtersWelcome I'm curious if you've studied religion and the the development of christianity through its texts and its followers, because i promise you that though Jesus did spend a lot of time with non-believers, he wasn't the one who developed the religion, he was just the icon used after his death. Most likely because of the fact that he was so admirable to his followers. And this religion in its text manipulates and coerces its followers, even before the churches began to do so. The fear of hell to strengthen faith, or the fear of God's wrath, sins, etc. Christianity was built on a precipice of fearing an all powerful god, and Jesus was then linked to it as a "role model" of what its followers should do, developing into christianity from Judaism and using Jesus as a patron after his death.
I hear where you’re coming from! Established religions can seem shielded from being called a cult, and I don’t think any belief system should automatically get that benefit of the doubt. But I also think a black and white answer is just too simple for this question.
I love how you set up all these requirements for what constitutes a cult, didn't answer any of them and acted like you disproved anything. 1st there's no proof that Jesus even existed in the first place and what Christianity is SUPPOSED to be based on and how it actually is are not mutually exclusive. Not to mention Christianity is extremely exclusive, perhaps not in the way of not allowing many people to enter but neither is Mormonism, which is for sure a cult. But Christianity IS exclusive in the sense of saying that all other religions are completely false and that there are no other gods than the christian god... Which all religions say, most of which are cults. 2nd just because "Jesus" didn't say people weren't allowed to ask questions doesn't mean the church doesn't. For example, the question of is the bible actually true? Throughout 20 years of my life I grew up in the church across several different churches due to moving a lot and in all of them I was either told not to doubt god's existence or people would often times sidestep any questions that would come up. 3rd there are a lot of shame cycle's in Christianity, primarily based around masturbating, premarital sex, porn but also just sin in general. From simply people avoiding you or treating you as though you're less of a person to the extreme of most parents putting activity monitoring apps on their children's phones to make sure they aren't watching porn which is an extremely disturbing breach of privacy. And if you're going to deny that that sort of thing happens I can assure you it happens and it did happen ... to me And finally transparency in leadership. The majority of people who are not christian list the reason for not joining as an unwelcoming environment and everyone, especially the religious leaders, being fake or overly unlike regular people. Not to mention there has been lots of instances shown of pastors using tithing money to buy a 20 million dollar plane because "god told them to" and a whole bunch of instances of abuses of power.
Jesus was awesome a rebel. But. He isn’t the one preaching in the churches now days. And they don’t obey the laws of Christianity values of Jesus either. If you have tattoos and colored hair different sexuality etc. Your already judged by the congregation . - A former Youth leader Ex Christian.
@@sergiochairez2329it's not excessive devotion to the religion, we have freewill either if we have faith or not or what we chose to belief in, we can still live on our own with the consequences
Hi. Thanks for watching and commenting! I’m talking about how Jesus is revealed in the New Testament as a model for how all Christians/churches should act. The New Testament is not particular to any brand of Christianity, but is considered scripture in all! Thanks again. :)
If I remember correctly, a cult is defined as a system of religious and/or spiritual devotion directed towards a particular figure or object, such as a god for example. Christianity is, by definition, a cult.
I hear what you’re saying. And, you’re right, by that definition it is a cult of worship. In that instance you would have to believe every religious person is a cult member. But words commonly have multiple meanings and definitions. I don’t think the definition you offered is what people commonly mean by cult, like when Netflix puts out a documentary on a cult, or when people use the word in conversation. A definition that is closer to what I hear people mean in casual conversation would be “a social system of abusive, coercive control and exploitation.” I don’t know you, so maybe you’re comfortable with labelling all religious people cult abusers or victims. I’m not willing to do that and do think it would be very uncharitable. Communities need to be more closely assessed individually to see if what’s happening within is coercive control, thought reform, abuse, and exploitation, or general religious worship (which is often not abusive and even good for people’s mental health). Sadly, to only apply an old and uncommon definition of cult you suggested, I think, muddies the waters and makes it harder for cult victims to identify how their situation may be different from the vast diversity of religious worship that happens globally. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a good day! :)
@@DoubtersWelcomeAll I offered was a general answer to the question about christianity being a cult. By definition, it is, just like judaism or islam are cults as in religions that worship a god and follow religious practices. However, that doesn't mean that every religious person is automatically a stereotypical cultist that sacrifices goats and sh*t. For that to be the case, one has to be, let's say, "too deeply involved" with their preachings, like the KKK for example. To say every christian is the same is like saying every apple is red. Not every christian is a radicalized weirdo, because each one of us experiences their or doesn't experience any religion the exact same way. We all have our own lives with our own experiences and our own opinions. I may have my issues with those who take their religion too seriously, but to judge every christian just because they're christian is beneath my standards. Like, why would I bother having beef with a random person if my problem is with those using their religion as an excuse to force their way of living and their religious lifestyles onto others? I don't care enough about humans to waste my time with that!
Then you are a problematic person. The fact that you are okay with people joining your belief and being educated about it but rebuking the education of an alternative or lack of belief is not only hypocritical, but also shows how much you are a part of a cult. Any devout christian is just a widely accepted cultist. Nothing about Christianity screams that it is otherwise, and not a single thing can be said about christianity to convince another whole heartedly that it is not a cult, because you'd only try to convince people its real, and that is cult like in itself, and to convince someone it isn't, means you aren't christian.
I would actually love to hear your thoughts on the proposal: "Assuming God exists, why do good things happen to bad people?" That seems to be a pretty common argument, and I think I've found a satisfactory answer after a lot of reflection, but I'd love to hear your perspective, or anyone's on the matter.

Romans 3:27 NIV [27] Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. according to christianity/bible, god judges the heart, while people oftenly judges the outside or externally
trust in gods plan and will. it might not be yet answered because its not whats the best for u, but that doesnt mean god condemns u, u can pray anytime anywhere. it is not always u can know it
I’m here because I’ve seen some cultish things in all churches. But this one assumption came from the actual Bible. I was given the Bible scripture acts 3:1-9. I missed church but this is what they were talking about. The story is Peter heals this man that can’t walk in the name of God of Nazareth. Once he’s healed he praises god. That’s when they stop the story. But if you continue past that. Peter attracts onlookers. Or people that see him heal the man. Then Peter goes to get them to join Christ and accept him as their savior. To confess their sins so they can be forgiven.
I think the Bible is a history book of the first cult known. What divides the knowledge of the cult or just reality. The Bible is seen as the guide to life. They make you feel loved. They make you find hope. And they worship this entity that can do all things through him. And most church’s have mottos. And the fucked up part about it is. When you grow up in this cult it’s all you know. And you pass it down for generations. Which feeds the motto. “Get other member to join as you”.
Would you say it's more accurate that Christianity preys on the weak and stupid, or that it IS weak and stupid? Or both? Fascinated by this comment. Thanks for watching.
@@DoubtersWelcome Both. They prey on the weak willed, those who feel lost, because they are easy to manipulate, and though the bottom feeder christians may think they are helping, they are just blindly guiding someone into a belief system that they themselves have, in that person's time of weakness rather than actually helping. They prey on the stupid because only the intellectual would think to learn why things happen, rather than assuming its God's will. Its also weak and stupid because there is so much hypocrisy and contradictions within the beliefs themselves, with no concrete system which clearly makes it the most fragile, but most flexible cult as anyone can use the framework and tweak it to convince someone to join, but also breaks continuity for those who are smart, making it stupid as well.
@@DoubtersWelcome They prey on people who are weak willed, aka need someone higher up telling them what to do, and the stupid, people who are easily manipulated into believing things, such as ghosts existing, etc. I don't think Christianity is weak, if you think that, then you are just biased to the truth, which is Christianity is pretty damn smart and talented to be around for as long as they have been. It's a religion that adapts to the times to stick around, there have been a billion and 1 religions by this point, but a lot of them get swallowed up. I don't like Christianity, because it is a lie, they toss their rules and morals around so easily that nothing they say means anything. But people who are weak/stupid don't bother to look into it to learn the truth, because the truth is harder, it's easier to believe a nice lie than a hard truth. Human's are very predictable. So how then, can one discern if the church one belongs to or attends, is really "actively serving the heart of Christ" - is it the Christ in Matthew 25, the Christ who got angry and overthrew the moneychangers, the Christ that felt abandoned on the cross, the Christ that did not come to bring peace "but a sword" OR... is it the Christ that supposedly is coming back to "rapture his people." ???
1) You can't question Christianity. 2) Jesus only had 12 disciples (exclusivity) [originally only Jews joined, later they accepted gentiles to keep the cult alive][the messiah only came for Jews] ....

Why can't Christians just be respected like everyone else we respect gays Trans and all that but we heavily discriminate and hate on Christians. Me for example I was handing out tracks to my church in Meijer and was literally followed around being called a cultist there are badnpeople in all religions and groups don't hate on everyone for a few bad apples.
Christianity as a whole disrespects and destroys anything it deems unlikeable. You do not respect anything other than straight males (of which I am one so this is unbiased) and to say its not true means you are lying, because its literally displayed everywhere. Christians get no respect because they do not earn it, they try to tear others down until they're the only thing to look up to and follow. Fuck christianity, its only good for starting wars and causing hatred.
In Christianity, you can choose whether or not to be a Christian. We cannot force you, we can only invite. Frankly, we shouldn’t WANT to force you. Those who do that do not know Jesus’ teaching
A cult leads the soul outwardly, astray from truth, which can only be known inwardly. "One who knows all, but lacks within, is utterly lacking." Gospel of Thomas "He who has known himself has known the depth of the All." Book of Thomas, the Contender "Know who God is, and know who is the one who thinks in you." Sentences of Sextus
This is not definitive at all. A cult controls people using a belief/punishment system. The beliefs vary, so saying that a cult leads the soul outwardly only pertains to a certain group of cults, and not them in general. And quoting the bible is the poorest argument you could use against the consensus that christianity is a cult, because to try and rely on your beliefs to argue a point denoting those very beliefs rather than looking for outward and solid proof is cult like.
It used to be a lot more cult like in biblical times (such as sacrafices etc.) And my youth group actually brought it up and talked about it, but Christianity isnt like that anymore and it is not a cult There is a difference between a cult and a religion
No, there really isn't. Clearly you do not understand what defines a cult. In fact, now there is more cult-oriented practices within christianity than there was in ancient times. Sacrifices are not something that constitutes a cult. Many religions of past ages used sacrifices to appease their gods. Cults are fundamentally based off fear tactics, manipulation, lack of transparency, and an unwelcoming environment to those who do not submit to their beliefs.
@@DoubtersWelcome I'll check it out. I'd be happy to share my thoughts.

@Jack Of All Trades You mean "God doesn't play dice?"
The whole "Worship me or burn eternally in hell" the walking on water and demons bs, and many other examples make Christianity a cult.

@Pooopo Lol yes lmao
The bible is full of inaccuracies, contradictions and fallacies. With that being said, yes Christianity is a cult. I'm content to be a gratifying deist.
Hi! Thanks for watching. :)
I don't see how the accuracy or inaccuracies of the Bible relates to this topic directly.

Of course the accuracy of the Bible matters A LOT to whether Christianity is true!

I just watched a recommended video and the guy speaking just sound like persuasive, manipulative, and just give me a funny vibe he's laughing behind all this. I said to myself after reading the comments... this is a fuccin cult.
I’m going through this right now. The church is exactly like this especially to people who are ill and disabled.
Best advice I can give you is to explore other churches. Because if that's what your current church is like, then God definitely isn't in it
@@sethfrady Agreed, the church I go to always asks disabled or homeless people if they want to come in and eat something or just check out the service, if a church is like this to disabled people then its no good place to stay.

Cults in a ancient sense just means you show a specific god in a pantheon.
Cults in a modern sense it's about control.

Finally, Christianity could be FALSE, and not be a cult. A TRUE religion could be a cult. The point of this video is to say that something being cultish doesn't mean it's true or false. Cults are a social structure that can apply to true and false worldviews, families, clubs, and businesses.

john doe Hi! Thanks for watching. :)
Is it wrong for humans to be sacrificial for one another? Obviously not. It's a good, moral thing to do.
To believe that Jesus freely gave his own life the save others is not even close to religions in which people offer others as murdered sacrifices (against their will) to try and continuously appease a god who delights in violence.
This comment seems like intentional word play to make Christianity look bad: Jesus is a human whose sacrificial attitude led to him willingly giving his life to save many. "Christianity is a cult of HUMAN SACRIFICE!"

Yes! It absolutely is a cult. People are afraid to call it that just because it's Christianity.
I hear where you’re coming from! Established religions can seem shielded from being called a cult, and I don’t think any belief system should automatically get that benefit of the doubt. But I also think a black and white answer is just too simple for this question.
There is a difference between being Christian and calling yourself a Christian.
And if you're going to deny that that sort of thing happens I can assure you it happens and it did happen ... to me
And finally transparency in leadership.

A definition that is closer to what I hear people mean in casual conversation would be “a social system of abusive, coercive control and exploitation.”
I don’t know you, so maybe you’re comfortable with labelling all religious people cult abusers or victims.
As a devout Christian, I mostly have nothing against atheism, but I do have a problem with The Freedom From Religion Foundation, and New Atheism.

Yes it is, it's always been. They prey on the weak and stupid.

We really don’t, unless you count helping those who are weak, but more power to you I guess
Thank you in return for making this video, cheers to you.
Yea even my realigion is and I am solitary. All realigion is because there base off same phycoligy principles.they believe in a leader or prophet.they try to convert by using the going to hell word keep them powerless.
Hi, thanks for watching!
I don't really agree with that for multiple reasons, but I'm currently more curious about what it is you searched to find this video. It's one of my best performing videos but most people who find/watch it seem to strongly disagree with the actual content.
So, what lead you to this vid? Thanks again for watching and commenting. :)
@@DoubtersWelcome I did enjoy yourvideiyiu did great job.
@@ghostbombl8034 Thanks! I appreciate that. I'm fine with the reality that people will disagree. I guess I'm just curious about what is driving people to find this video.
Cult of the emperor is exactly what it WAS. Unfortunately not anymore
1) You can't question Christianity.
2) Jesus only had 12 disciples (exclusivity) [originally only Jews joined, later they accepted gentiles to keep the cult alive][the messiah only came for Jews]
....
Yeah my church thinks everything god does is perfect 👎
I just can't see myself believing that
@@Venus.Y What do you mean?
You absolutely can question it. A sermon at my church was that it’s ok to ask questions, and it’s encouraged
@@condolcezza5850 As long it's the questions they wanna hear. Try asking them the ridiculousness of the monotheism of the trinity. Or whether Jesus died in the afternoon or the evening? Or why god allowed genocide? Or did god drowned babies during Noah's flood?
Yeah god showed me that basically everything has some type of cult twist to it
It's funny how there's stories of how Jesus heal people or anything or whatever. While females do it they just called a witch and get burnt by a stick. Yes jesus also have the same ending. But the thing is some people just think that witch are evil
that does not make "people" as christians or religious
a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.
"the cult of St. Olaf"
So......ya got ten commandments right ? Seems pretty straight forward but wait........ Saturday ? " No God, that doesn't work for me. Lets do it Sunday ". Enter Christians, Pagans , Sun Worshipers .......why not Muslims.
I'm pretty sure all cults look for people who are down on their luck.
That’s actually true! But so do all the best charities. The important bit is discerning between the two. (Thanks for watching and commenting!)
@TruthSnack good point thank u :)
Because they don't follow bible and real name of messiah is not jesus
frankly the first few points reminds me of most Abrahamic monotheistic religion
It is a cult of human sacrifice.
If i think about it tho i think we aren't
Yes.
Yes, mixed messages in the Bible. And the followers don’t like anyone not a Christian.
Yes, it’s a cult of the dead
Absolutely it’s a cult

Yes
Cult + time = Religion
You don't get to choose in a cult.
Totally agree.
In Christianity, you can choose whether or not to be a Christian. We cannot force you, we can only invite.
Frankly, we shouldn’t WANT to force you. Those who do that do not know Jesus’ teaching
Well said man!

A cult leads the soul outwardly, astray from truth, which can only be known inwardly.
"One who knows all, but lacks within, is utterly lacking."
Gospel of Thomas
"He who has known himself has known the depth of the All."
Book of Thomas, the Contender
"Know who God is, and know who is the one who thinks in you."
Sentences of Sextus
This is not definitive at all. A cult controls people using a belief/punishment system. The beliefs vary, so saying that a cult leads the soul outwardly only pertains to a certain group of cults, and not them in general. And quoting the bible is the poorest argument you could use against the consensus that christianity is a cult, because to try and rely on your beliefs to argue a point denoting those very beliefs rather than looking for outward and solid proof is cult like.
@@witchlynproductions753 You're relying on a dictionary definition, created likely by a religious person.
A cult is exactly as I described it.
We don’t even use the gospel of Thomas
It used to be a lot more cult like in biblical times (such as sacrafices etc.) And my youth group actually brought it up and talked about it, but Christianity isnt like that anymore and it is not a cult
There is a difference between a cult and a religion

You should watch this other video of mine where I go into it in much more detail.
Yes it’s a cult it’s fake lmao 😂
yea it is lol
yes.
Is Loving one another , Forgiving , Helping and Being peaceful sound like a cult ?
It’s a cult, full stop.
