I'm a criminology major and I don't think this girl understands the true nature of crime scene investigation. It's not as glamorous as it appears on TV. Not only do most police departments require you to have at least an associates degree (although you have a much better chance of landing a job with a bachelor's degree), but you also have to be prepared to get called out at 4 am in the windy 20 degree weather, scrounging around a crime scene for blood splatters and shit. Not as fun as TV makes it seem. And oh my god, her definition of a psychopath made me recoil internally.

This episode drove me up the wall. Apparently her grandparents were giving her things (like a cellphone) and then undermined the mom (who they label as "crazy" and shame her because she has mental health problems) when she tried to discipline the daughter by saying "you can't take it away from her because *we* gave it to her." Dr. Phil never called them out on it, either. No wonder the kid was so fond of them; it's easy to get someone to like you when you never have to discipline them.

my sister is actually a high school drop out but that’s because she went through immense trauma and she gave up on her life. but she’s doing so great now! she’s married, she has a son too, and she has found a cleaning job. she’s doing great regardless her struggles and she’s an amazingly strong person. this girl on the other hand i don’t know what else to say except she wack as hell if it’s real XD
Looking back I was bullied a lot in high school and luckily I passed my SAT’s that year and to put icing on the cake my graduation speach made everyone’s jaw drop of 2 seconds before a standing ovation that memory still stands in my head after 10 years later

She mentions that she wants to get a GED which is the equivalence of a high school diploma. To obtain one you have to be out of school for at least one year and purchase a book which you study and then you pass the test. The GED is a seven-hour test, separated into two days. There is a math section, an English section, a history section, and a science section on the test. In my country, you can also take a test at the college or university that you are applying to, to make sure that you have the skills required for the program. To get the skills required to pass the tests you can purchase high school workbooks, so basically, she would be homeschooled. That's what she most likely means by still wanting an education. I know this because that's what I did myself because going to school gave me horrible anxiety attacks and panic attacks that got so bad that I was going to the bathroom every 5 minutes and was sometimes going in my pants without knowing so I had to start wearing diapers again. Things got so bad that I wanted to kill myself so eventually, my parents and my therapist decided I should be homeschooled. The real problem with this girl is her attitude, thinking that she is better than everyone, and as much as she says she wants an education I don't buy it, because she thinks she knows everything already.

Most people who drop out from school can be successful in life and I hope that Dr Phil didn't ruin her life too badly and she managed to get the job she wanted. I actually dropped out of school in year 9 because of bullying. Ended up doing my GCSE's in my local college and now I'm making about £30,000 a year with my art and doing something I love.

Yeah, and people always make the assumption that you've dropped out because you were dumb or lazy, but sometimes it's just that you couldn't go all the way. For instance I dropped out because I was undiagnosed autistic and couldn't keep up with the near violent regimen of my school, and I was simply too far behind to ever properly graduate. But everyone always wants to tell me I was lazy or "didn't want to do the work."

The Australian school system is very different to the US. Here in aus, roughly 78% of people finish school. Most of these dropouts either go on to become tradesmen or apprentices or continue to enter University through other pathways. Finishing school here just isn’t necessarily the “norm” and dropping out isn’t viewed as being bad most of the time.
I dropped out of school at the beginning of year 12 (senior year) due to my varying mental health problems but now I’m at University studying to become an Ancient History high school teacher.
In saying this though, only half of Aussies attend public schools and these schools are generally at a higher standard than public schools in America, which about 90% of American kids attend. The catholic and private school systems here are generally well regarded and have higher success rates than public schooling. Therefore, attending school here and not completing it still leaves you at an advantage when compared to the USA.
I’m not trying to say that Australia is better or anything like that, I’m just speaking from my experience and drawing on the experiences of my American friends.

Same in the UK. If you don't finish highschool or you don't get good grades. You can retake highschool qualifications at college until you pass then you can do college levels and you can go back to do qualifications at any age at college.

I dropped out of highschool a few years ago to help my dad with medical things. I did some online things but , now everyone is doing online school so... I was just ahead of the curve :)
Honestly I can see where that girl is coming from, looking back on my school days I literally remember probably about 5% of the stuff I was taught. The stress schools put their students under is abominable and I know for a fact my anxiety and depression are easily linked to stressful school days, exams and MOUNTAINS of homework, all so I could take a few tests and try and cram as much information as I could remember only to forget it years later. The way america is going nowadays with school shootings I'm not surprised people are dropping out lmao and there's been a lot of stories of people who drop out and are still on par even more successful than people who continue their education. I remember being told off by my head teacher because I was missing a lot of school due to serious illness and she said and I qoute "We try to encourage pupils to come to school even when ill so our attendance average doesn't drop too much and we lose an offsted score" kids in schools nowadays are treated like numbers and its ridiculous! Anyway mini rant over, I love your vids Daz but just wanted to voice my opinion and experience with how crappy schools are.
